First of all I am so sorry for the delay. My next few weeks are also going to be very hectic at office so sorry for the lateness and patchy updates.

Good news is that it is a long weekend in UK so I will try to give 2-3 updates till Wednesday.

Chapter 29

Two Days later

Everyone except Meera had finished their dinner and were sitting in living room. Maan was doing his work on laptop as Geet and Daadima flipped through TV channels making funny remarks about all saas bahu sagas coming late on the telly. Dev had still not come home and Meera was waiting for him. Vicky was already sleeping.

As Meera gave desert to all, a weary Dev entered the house.

Meera – "Aap aa gaye Dev…bahut der kar di aaj…aap fresh ho jaiye, mein khana lagati hoon"

[You are here Dev…you got quite late today…you go an freshen up while I set the table for dinner.]

Dev answered tiredly –"I had a party to attend so I have already eaten. Tum kha lo."

"Lekin you didn't even tell. If you had a party toh batana toh tha na….mein wait nahi"

Suddenly Dev shouted – "So what do you want… Ab kya karoon…maafi mangoon tumse because I made a big mistake…. meine kaha tha wait karne ke liye."

Meera was teary – "Dev aap itna gussa kyon…"

Dev – "Toh aur kya karoon. Pura din thak kar ghar aaya hoon aur tumhein aate hi apni nagging shuru karna zaroori hai. Aadmi ko apne ghar mein bhi chain nahi mil sakta. He has to first answer to you. Koi aur kam nahi hai tumhein"

Maan was aghast listening to Dev talking so rudely to Meera over such a small matter. He intervened – "Dev what are you saying"

Dev saw his entire family looking at him. "Haan I know…as usual it is my mistake only."

With that Dev stormed to the backyard and Meera ran off to her room crying.

Maan, Daadima and Geet were just left shocked. After a while Geet cleared her throat – "uhh…Maan aap Dev se baat kijiye na. Daadima aap Meera se. Itne mein Meera ka dinner laga ke lati hoon"

[Uhh…Maan, you go and talk to Dev please. Daadima you talk to Meera. I will go and get dinner for Meera meanwhile.]

Daadima nodded and walked towards Dev and Meera's bedroom and Maan went to the backyard.

Maan found Dev sitting at the swing. He sat down silently next to Dev giving him space to talk. After a while Dev spoke – "This project is every important for me bhai. I suffered some losses last quarter and this project is required to bring up the profit margins again."

Maan calmly replied – "Does Meera knows about the loss"

Dev shook his head in denial.

Maan sighed – "Pehli baat, our business may be different but we are one family. So you don't need to worry at all. I am happy that you are trying to manage things independently and I have full confidence in you but also importantly you know that your brother is there with you…right!!!"

Dev nodded his head.

Maan continued – "Second thing, when Meera doesn't know what you are going through, how she can understand your problem? Tumne use kuch kaha kyon nahi"

Dev just sat silently.

Maan put a hand around his shoulder – "Dev, you spend time with your family and business. But don't you think you should give some time to Meera also. Hmmm…Din mein kuch waqt uske liye bhi nikalo. And if not possible, at least spend some time on the weekend. Talk to her. She is a very mature woman and I am sure she will understand."

Dev nodded again – "I know Bhai. Lekin mein kya karoon. She is always busy with Vicky and waqt ke saath saath kabhi kabhi lagta hai ki bahut faasle aa gaye hain. Hum saath toh hain lekin…"

"Aisa nahi hai Dev. Tum donon ne shaadi tab ki thi jab tum dono ki enjoy karne ki umar thi. Jab log bina responsibility ke hote hain tab Meera was mother to a child. Itni choti umar mein usne kitne achi tarah se sab kuch sambhala hai. But shayad, now it is time for both of you to enjoy a little. Waise bhi ab Vicky bada ho gaya hai. Geet aur Daadima ke saath bhi time spend kar leta hai. You just need to make little effort to give each other time. Sab thik ho jayega."

"Don't worry Dev. We all are here together and we will work these problems out. Yeh sab toh business mein laga hi rehta hai but these things don't matter till the family is together."

At such a young age, she took care of everything so nicely. But probably now it is a time for both of you to enjoy a little. Also, now Vicky is grown up as well. He is able to spend time with Geet and Daadima. You just need to make little effort to give each other time. Everything will be fine.

"Aise dil chota nahi karte Meera. Hum Dev ke kaan kheechenge. Bekar mein hi humari beti ko daanta unhone.

Daadima cupped Meera's face and smiled – "Chalo bhai…Geet ne finally tumhein smile kara hi diya. Ab hum sone chalte hain. Tum apne patidev ko sambhalo. Lekin haan agar koi bhi baat ho toh humein bula lena…hmmm"

Meera nodded her head. Daadima left winking at Geet so that two girls can talk easily seeing how well Geet was handling Meera.

Geet sat down next to Meera – "Meera, sach sach batao, kuch problem toh nahi hai na tum dono ke beech. I mean this was one off incident, right?"

Lagta hi nahi jaise hum pati-patni hain. We both are so tired by the night that we hardly talk to each other."

Geet fed Meera her dinner when Dev entered along with Maan.

Dev – "Meera, I am sorry…mujhe aise"

Meera stopped him – "Please Dev, don't say sorry. I also overreacted. You must be tired toh ho gaya…chodiye.

Geet held Maan's arm – "Mere khyal se humein chalna chaiye and let these two love birds sort their issues out. Btw Dev, you can continue to feed your darling wife"

Dev rolled his eyes and Meera just smiled as Geet dragged Maan away.
