Sorry I have been MIA this week but these episodes are killer and I just had to mentally prepare to watch them. They are ones that leave you with potent feelings long after they are over and I was having a super busy week so I wanted to watch them at leisure when i could savour that special Maaneet intensity! So here is a mashed up post of most of the episodes...
THAT HUG!!! My favourite part is when Geet grabs Maan's vest as though making the final claim to her territory. And he gives his little smirk, knowing what her little gesture means, but never expecting to be pushed away the way he was. I think he was thinking, finally a confession!
That scene outside the club is one of my favourites. I love how both of them, more than being concerned for themselves are in so much pain because they are hurting the other. Geet is desperately trying to convey that she cannot do this, and Maan is simply frustrated because he was so sure he saw the same feelings in her eyes. And the first thing that Maan is worried about here is that he made Geet cry. He is not worried about his own broken heart, but somewhere it rips up his heart to know that Geet is crying because of him...and he follows the same route in the morning, self-loathing at the thought of making Geet cry. But then his ego kicks in and he tries to convince himself that he doesn't want her either...nice try dude, nice try. Geet is a lot more mature in these respects but she also has all the information, which Maan doesn't. She considers her feelings carefully, and weighs out what they mean. So she is able to control herself much better than Maan, who is just confused because he has no idea why Geet is resisting him, other than her ego or pride.
Pari was such a sweet cupid. She was so carefree that even though her story with Maan didn't work out, she was carried away with the romance of Maan and Geet and wanted to bring them together. This girl, like me, seems in love with the idea of love and that helps her help Maan and Geet. I loved her game that proved Maan and Geet are totally obsessed with each other!
And the taveez makes a wonderful appearance, switching hands for the last time before it reaches its final destination. I guess its role now was to show Geet that it was indeed meant for Maan. And the ball, or the taveez really was in Geet's court now because Maan had accepted her and it is her prerogative to accept him, which she does later when they are united!
But I so regret never learning about Maan's past! This was such a beautiful, symbolic episode for that! I have always loved that picture scene, where despite being surprised that Maan used to smile, Geet reaches out to his present, angry reflection rather than his smiling face because that is not HER Maan, the angry one is, faults and all!
The fact that Dev says that Maan's choice has changed when he sees Pari always made me curious about Sameera... I always imagined her as a Sasha type before I came across this dialogue but I guess she must have been a lot like Geet actually.
And the engagement episode is of course a classic! I love how Maan uses every trick in the book from gentle coaxing to wordplay to physical proximity to self deprecation to get Geet to confess, because, well, she does! And to cover it up she has to agree to be his fake fiance. The intensity of this scene is unmatched, not to mention that they both look absolutely gorgeous, especially DD in that classic red saree, and the way they look at each other is so intense as though they can't bear to look at each other but cannot bear to look away either! And Geet keeps trying to go away from him but cannot ever go very far because either she stops herself and he finds her, or it causes her pain to go away from him. I love Maan's growling voice in this scene when he is all but torturing the confession out of her. And the way his face softens when he thinks she has caved, and then hardens again when he realises she isn't going to...aah it kills me every time!
And who doesn't love Daadi's smugness. Fortune favours Savitri Khurana because even when they are not meant to, things always seem to go her way!
