Hi Friends,

Thank you for liking the last update and writing your comments. Most of you were surprised by Geet's reaction. Frankly it was the most natural reaction I could think of. How can a girl just listen and not react when her husband professes his love to another woman in front of her and that too just after marriage.

LuvScooby asked me that Geet knew about Poonam before so why such a strong reaction now. Well he told her he had a past. He told her she meant a lot to him but he also told her that he was ready for this relationship though starting out as a friend.

There is a big difference between that and saying he is still in love with Poonam and this marriage may be a mistake. I hope I have articulated my point correctly and answered your question.

Chapter – 9

Geet opened her suitcase in a trance and took out her dress and silently went to the bathroom. She let icy cold water fall on herself washing her of last night. Her skin numbed and her heart steeled as every expectation, every dream washed away with water. She stood till some semblance of strength seeped back into her body. Till her soul became cold enough to let her head rule her heart completely.

She came out after few minutes all ready to face the day. She threw the wedding dress on top of her luggage and before Maan could say anything, she walked out of the room.

Maan sighed deeply and left to the washroom to get ready himself. He went down, to find her and everyone else busy in talking as Rahul had already come to take Geet for pagphere.

After formal pleasantries, Rahul took Geet to Handa Haveli. Geet kept a brave front though she was breaking inside. But she did not want to embarrass Daadima or tense her brother till she herself decided what she wanted.

Rahul felt her to be little distant but she just said she was very tired.

Night, Geet's old bedroom

Rano combed her hair with her fingers as Geet laid in her mother's lap with eyes closed.

Rano – "Kya baat hai laado…bahut chup hai"

[What's the matter dear…you are so quite]

Geet – "Kuch nahi mumma, bahut thak gayi hoon"

[Nothing mumma…just very tired]

"Sab thik hai na beta ji….kaisa tha tera pehla din…kuch toh bata. Maanji ke saath kuch baat hui raat mein…pyaar se toh rakha na unhone tujhe?"

[Everything is alright betaji….how was your first day…at least tell something. Did you talk to Maanji in the night…did he keep you lovingly]

Geet's heart filled up feeling her mother's love. Tears caged inside her eyes spilled over. With a sob she turned and buried her face in his mother's stomach. "Mummy"

Rano was alarmed. Geet cried hard and floodgates opened wetting her mother's suit.

"Kya hua laado…tu aise kyon ro rahi hai….mera bacha…please…dekh….kuch to bol"

[What's the matter darling…why are you crying like this…my daughter….please…see…say something?]

Tears brimmed in Rano's eyes as she tried to calm Geet.

Geet kept on sobbing in her mother's arms finally letting out the storm. Rano was very worried and kept on encouraging her to tell what the matter was

Geet's cries turned to silent sobs and then hiccups after letting it all go.

"Woh mujhe pyaar nahi karte"

[He doesn't love me]

Rano frowned – "Beta abhi abhi toh shaadi hui hai…thoda waqt lagta hain feelings aane mein"

[Beta, just now you have got married…it takes time for feelings to come]

"Nahin…woh mujhe nahi kisi aur se pyaar karte hain"

[No….he doesn't love me but loves someone else]

Rano's eyes widened in shock "Yeh tu kya keh rahi hai…hosh mein toh hai…agar aisa tha toh why did they come here looking for a match"

[What are you saying…are you in your senses….if this is true then why did they come here looking for a match]

Geet's shook her head in denial and tried to explain to her mother– "Aisa nahi hai mumma….he thought he had gotten over his ex-fianc and was ready for marriage. But during marriage itself, he realized he still loves Poonam and is not ready for this. Lekin tab tak bahut der ho chuki thi. He said he never wanted to cheat me. And I trust him mumma…he never lied….he has been honest. He says he needs time to accept this marriage. Lekin mujhe toh yeh bhi nahi pata woh mujhe kabhi dil se chah bhi payenge ya nahi.

Mein na to khud aur na hi unhein kisi bhi bandhan mein bandhana chahti hoon. I don't want us to just live with a relationship which is nothing but a compromise and burden. I am so confused mummy. Unhone toh mujh pe faisla chod diya hai"

Rano was still in shock –"Dimag kharab ho gaya hai uska. Mein toh use bahut samajhdaar samajhti thi. But he is a fool to run after something which he can never have. And that too at the expense of what he has in his hands."

Geet laid her head back in her mother's lap looking for the comfort. After few minutes of silence Rano spoke calmly –

"Dekh puttar ji…shaadi koi switch toh hai nahi ki aaj koi feelings nahi aur kal pyaar ho jaaye. Faisla toh tune hi karna hai beta. Yeh sach hai ki mujhe Maanji se aisi umeed nahi thi. Par, yeh bhi sach hai ki is baat ko accept karna bhi bahut badi baat hai. If he wanted he could have just had a physical relationship with you without saying anything. Fayda utha sakta tha is rishte ke naam ka. He could have trapped you in an unhappy marriage with false hopes and promises"

"But only you can decide beta. Your whole life is in front of you aur koi der nahi hui hai. This is not going to be an easy relationship and there are no guarantees ki tere hard work ke baad tujhe result mil hi jaaye. There is no point crying over fate beta. If you feel you are not ready to sign up for this, just get out of the relationship. I am sure you will find your happiness one day with a true partner.

But if you feel that you can not be happy without him then it is a different story. Tune apni marzi se haan ki thi toh mein jaanti hoon tere man mein uske liye kuch to hai. But is it strong enough to give him another chance….to bear this pain? Agar tujhe sach mein lagta hai ki teri khushi uske saath hai toh beta apne pyaar ke liye ladne se zaydaa…intezaar karne se zaydaa….usmein khud ko bhool jaane se zaydaa badi koi cheez nahi.

Lekin sirf tu decide kar sakti hai ki tu use kitna chahti hai. Only you know to what length you can go.

Bas ek baat humesha yaad rakhna. Tu akeli nahi hai. Teri mom, tere dad, tera bhai tere har faisle mein tere saath hai. You still have a family laado aur tu job hi decide karegi we will always support you."

[See puttar ji…marriage is not a switch that today you have no feelings and tomorrow you fall in love. You only have to decide. It is true that I never expected this from Maanji. But this is also true that it is a big thing to accept such a matter. If he wanted he could have just had a physical relationship with you without saying anything. He could have taken advantage of the name of this relationship. He could have trapped you in an unhappy marriage with false hopes and promises"

But only you can decide what you want. Only you know to what length you can go.

Just remember one thing always. You are not alone. Your mom, your dad, your bother are there with you in your every decision. You still have a family laado and whatever you decide, we will always support you.]

Geet hugged her mom hearing to her every word and absorbing it, "Mummy….mujhe pata hai aap mere saath ho….sahi kehte ho aap. Lekin please aap dad aur Rahul ko kuch mat kehna. Woh bardaasht nahi kar paayenge. Tusi hi toh kehnde ho "mardon ka jism faulad da te dil gilli mitti jiyan honda hai"

[I know mummy you are with me…you are right. But please don't tell anything to dad and Rahul. They won't be able to take it. You only say that "Men have a body of steel but their hearts are soft like wet sand]

Geet gave a wet smile to her mom – "Bahut late ho gaya mummy. Aap jaake so jao. Mein thodi der akele mein sochna chahti hoon. But don't worry. Aapki beti strong hai…your love has made her strong"

[It's quite late mummy. You go an sleep. I want to think alone for some time. But don't worry. Your daughter is strong… your love has made her strong]

Rano kissed her forehead slightly and left her to think and decide.
