Chapter 45: Father in law from hell

I can save myself

If I knew you were there,

To give solace,

Comfort after pain.

I can bear the hate,

The burn of anger

As long as I return

To the blanket of love

Her whole body throbbed with pain as she slowly gained consciousness. She could feel herself lying down on the hard floor and a bit of blood trickle down her mouth.

Her head felt as if it was being hammered, with a pounding sound. A voice however forced her to rouse from her stupor on the floor. Her vision was blurry as with great effort she tried to open her eyes.

"Finally you are waking up" a harsh voice snidely commented.

Prying open her eyes with a small shake of her head, she managed to see a man sitting in front of her. He was grinning at her with what seemed like evil satisfaction and in his hands was a gun that he had trained on her.

"Hello" He continued in the snide tone, "Sorry that we had to meet under such circumstances"

"Who are you?" Geet's croaked out, aware that she was no longer at Khurana Mansion. Trying to rake her mind, the last thing she could remember was standing in the balcony. So she asked "Where am I?"

"So many questions" He smirked at her, painfully similar to Maan. In fact his features seemed curiously alike to Maan. "I am your future father in law..and as to where we are, well wait a bit longer"

"You are Maan's father?" Geet let her disgust show. She knew all about Virender's dirty tactics and how low he could stoop. "You are the pathetic excuse for a human being"

Virender's face turned to an ugly colour as he glared at her, "Be careful with what you say silly girl."

"As if I am scared of someone like you" Geet snarled at the man, unable to hold back on her anger at him. She was a tolerant person but when it came to people she loved, she would never forgive anyone who hurt them. And Virender had not only hurt Maan, he had tried to destroy him. Maan himself had told her everything about the man.

Geet had no fear of Virender, only rage towards him. She would never let someone like him intimidate her.

2 days ago:

They were in the airport terminal, ready to fly back home. Meliara was lying on her lap, taking a small nap.

Geet could feel lightness in her heart as she realised that the rest of her life would be spent with the man next to her and her daughter. The doubts that had plagued her heart seemed so small and inconsequential in the face of their need and desire.

But as she turned towards him, she saw that he was tense. In fact he had been quite ever since he had gotten off the phone call with Vicky. Putting a hand on his shoulder, she could feel the stiffness.

"Are you alright?" She asked in concern, trying to gage the look on his eyes.

"I am okay" He sighed, picking up her hand to clench on to it. "But there is something you need to know. It's about my'.father" He spat out the last word like a curse; indeed for Maan it was a curse to call him that.

Geet raised her eyebrows in surprise, for she knew that he never would talk about his father after all that Virender had done. She had heard bits and pieces from Maan and the rest from Dev. It didn't take a genius to figure out what sort of man Virender was.

"What about him?"

For some reason Maan couldn't meet her eyes. He knew that nothing would stop him from destroying Virender but he also understood that Geet was different from him. She was strong in a different way, filled with morals and a heart that was meant to heal, not to harm.

Still he could not lie to her, "He'.he was under custody for awhile but he is out on bail at the moment. I am'.going to take care of him and make sure that he is permanently in prison but in the meanwhile he might try to hurt you"

"Why would he want to hurt me? He doesn't even know me" Geet frowned.

"Because he has no scruples" Maan looked ahead with hatred blazing in his eyes. "It doesn't matter who you are but if he has any idea of what you mean to me, then I know he will try to hurt you. He won't leave any stone unturned to hurt me!"

"And what if he attacks you?" She asked with burgeoning concern. She couldn't bear to think of the man hurting her love.

"He can try" Maan twisted his lip with disdain, wanting the chance to beat the life out of the man. "But he won't succeed in hurting me, it will only be to his own destruction"

"Promise me you won't let him hurt you" She made him face her, "for I couldn't bear it if anything hurt you."

"How can anything happen when I have you to look forward to" He smiled, "We have waited too long to let anyone come between us, let alone my father. However there is one favour I want to ask of you"

"Ask away"

"Be careful" He made sure that she understood that he was serious, "I have this panic button with me." He showed her this small devise that could easily be attached to clothes without being obvious. "If anything happens you should press it"

Geet opened her mouth to refuse but seeing the worry on his face she didn't have the heart to disagree. "Alright, I'll keep it with me but you shouldn't worry for me. Remember that I am not some weak person"

Maan finally felt some tension release from his body "I know you aren't but that doesn't mean that I won't do everything to keep you safe"

Present:

"You should be scared!" Virender screamed in frustration as he saw the woman stare back at him without an ounce of fear on her face.

Geet glared at the man but she was also using her hands, which were tied, to find the panic button that was attached to the waist of her sari. Please let it be there, she thought as she struggled to move her fingers around her waist. To keep him distracted she continued to talk. "And why is that? Why do you feel the need to attack your own son"

"Because he is the stain in my life!" Virender continued to yell while putting the gun closer to her. "He took everything that was meant to be mine. I loved his mother but she put all her affection into that boy. She could never love me the way she was meant to"

"Well maybe you never deserved it" Geet smirked at him, while her fingers finally found the panic button, bingo.

But she had only second of relief when Virender kicked her in the stomach with a growl, "Bitch! Shut up!"

Geet felt the pain ripple through her body, clenched her teeth to hold back the scream. Not wanting to give him the satisfaction she forced herself to chuckle, "Oh you are such a weak man Virender."

"I was thinking of killing you but now I have other plans" Virender growled out, "I am going to torture you while you beg for mercy. And then you will beg for death."

Geet snorted, even as she felt bile rise within her, "You don't have the balls to do anything. You cannot stand up against those who are strong"

Virender leaned forward to slap Geet on the face, "SHUT UP! I'll kill you!"

"Where the hell is she!" Maan growled in frustration and worry as he paced around the lounge room.

In contrast to the mood an hour ago, everyone was sedate and concerned. The whole family was gathered around with worry about what had happened to Geet.

Poor Meliara had been inconsolable without her mother until Meera had managed to pat her to sleep.

Vicky stared at Maan for a moment before he spoke, "Bhai, do you think he is behind this?" Vicky didn't need to say who "he" was, for both the brothers would understand.

"If he is, I won't let him live" Maan spoke through clenched teeth. He had been expecting Virender to attack but he had been hoping that it would be him that Virender would attack for that would mean that he could trap him.

"He?" Both Seb and Meera asked at the same time while it seemed that Dev had picked up at who they were talking about.

"Are you talking about father?" Dev asked in a harsh voice, "Is he behind this?"

"We think so" Vicky answered, while Maan just frowned in anger. "We were waiting for him to strike but we didn't truly expect this"

Just then Maan heard the sound that relieved his soul, the alarm in his phone went off to signal Geet's panic call. It not only warned him but also gave him the co-ordinates to where she was.

"Let's see where they are" Maan rushed out the room with that comment, "Come with me"

"And you think that makes you strong?" Geet smirked at the man to enrage him even more. She knew that it was a stupid thing to do but she didn't want to act like the victim in front of a man like him.

"If you are really brave then you will let me take swing at you" She continued with her taunt, wanting the chance to hit the man. "So let's fight fair and then maybe I can call you a man."

Taunted beyond his limits, Virender wasn't thinking clearly and that was what made him go closer to her and hit her again on the face. "Fair? Well I'll give you fair!" With that Virender roughly pulled her up by the hair but also untied her hands. "Lets fight" With that he swung his hand back to hit her but Geet was too fast.

She smashed her head into his face, causing a snapping sound as his nose broke. But she didn't relent as she punched him in the stomach the next second. "You just made a really bad mistake" she snarled out as she kicked his legs from beneath him. The gun was knocked out of his hands onto the floor. "I'll make you regret everything you did"

Despite her words Geet knew that Virender was no pushover and that she had managed to surprise him for the moment. So with all her strength she lashed out at him, letting her years of training take over.

Virender tried to fight back but she didn't give him any room. With anger pulsing through her, she was unstoppable. She hit him everywhere her limbs would reach and slammed his face against the floor.

"You are a despicable person" She growled into his face, "Not worth the air you breath" With that she kicked him again in the stomach, paying back for his kick.

But right at that moment Virender managed to pick up the gun from the floor and turned to face her with a blood dripping from his face.

He chuckled despite the pain, "Now who is the brave one?"

"Ah, should have known you are a cheater" Geet gritted out, "Too weak to fight fair"

Virender got up and slammed the gun to her face, splitting her lip in the process. "You are the weak one!"

What Virender didn't realise as he lashed out at Geet was that Maan, Vicky and Dev had managed to entered the building.

Maan had never felt such rage as he saw Virender hit Geet and it was that rage that propelled him towards the monster.

Knocking the gun out of Virender's hands, Maan started to pulverise the man. Beating his face with efficient moves, he continued to hit with brutal force. He could feel the anger flow with his blood, rendering him incapable of anything but violence.

"I'll kill you" he promised darkly even as he lashed out, "and break you"

Virender saw the rage in Maan's eyes that scared him unlike anything else and he opened his mouth to protest but Maan punched him there to shut him up.

Dev and Vicky saw that Maan was in deadly rage, capable of murdering their father and knew that he had to be stopped, so Dev went forward and tried to pull Maan away but Maan just shoved his hand away.

"Dev don't stop me" Maan growled even as he slammed Virender's face to the ground, "he doesn't deserve mercy. I'll hit him so badly that he'll wish I would hasten his death."

Vicky attempted to stop him as well, "Bhai he isn't worth this"

But Maan ignored him, "How dare you touch her? You filthy scum, you aren't even worthy of seeing her!" He kicked Virender on the ankle, satisfied as he heard it snap as bones fractured.

As he pulled back to hit Virender again but was stopped as a gunshot went off. It hit Virender in the leg, making him unconscious from the pain.

Turning around in shock, he saw Geet hold a gun in her hands with a calm expression.

"Did you just shoot him? He asked in surprise.

"Oppps" Geet said with no repentence, "It was an accident"

Vicky just stared at her in amazement, "You are my new hero! If you need a new job, I have something that would suit you fine"

"Shut up Vicky" Dev and Maan said in sync as Maan walked up to Geet. "Are you okay? What did he do to you?"

"I am fine" She smiled up at him and pressed a hand to his face even as she winced with pain, "Just a little banged up"

"Enough of the romance" Dev said, even though he was smiling in relief seeing that Geet was okay, "We need to call the police"

"They are on their way" Vicky smirked.

Virender could do nothing as he was sentenced to 20 years in jail for abduction and attempted murder, not to mention rape of Meher. It was made worse because he had been refused bail because of what he had done.

Maan had played his moves so well that Virender didn't have a foot to stand on to defend himself. Absolutely no one would take his word after what he had done. On the other hand Maan and Geet had gotten away with beating him up and shooting him in the name of self defense.

If that hadn't been enough, the whole of society was against him for what he had done to Geet. None was there to support him. It also meant that instead of low security facility he was stuck with the harshest and toughest criminals in maximum security.

As he sat in his prison cell he knew that there was only a slim chance that he would get out alive, for he wasn't made to live in prison.

But if he thought it was bad, he had no idea how bad it was going to get.

"Hi Virender" A female voice called out, laughter in every word. "Fancy meeting you here"

As he turned around he was shocked to see the three woman who had been terrorising him before. He gulped nervously before he managed to say, "What are you doing here?"

"Oh surprised to see us?" Amru grinned devilishly, "Not pleased that we visited?"

"I am sure he is delighted" Sanji cackled happily, as she went forward to pat him on the head, "Aren't you Viru?"

Aashu didn't wait to speak, instead stepped forward to slap him across the face. "If he isn't, we will make sure he is"

"Too right we will" Amru came forward so that her feet pressed down on Virender's already broken foot.

Virender yelled out in pain and managed to gasp out as well, "I'll call the guards!'

"Opps...they have gone for afternoon tea" Sanji said gleefully, "They might not come back for awhile"

"Don't worry, we will keep you company" Aashu consoled as she punched him in the stomach.

The three converged on him, beating him till he couldn't move.

But even that wasn't enough.

"Don't miss us too much" a soft whisper as they got up to leave, "We will be back."

Virender's last thought as he drifted into unconsciousness was that he was going to be in hell for the rest of his life.

Geet had a huge smile on her face as she saw Meera and Dev walk around the marriage pyre to commit themselves in an everlasting relationship.

The pair could barely keep their eyes away from each other, the love shining through from the look in their eyes. Dev clutched Meera's hands possessively, promising to never let go, and Meera proudly held on.

May they always be happy, she thought with affection and love. Her eyes met Seb's, who was standing on the other side of the dias, Same for Naina and Seb.

Naina and Seb had gotten married the week before in a low key wedding'.well two weddings to be correct. Not wanting any conflicts the pair had a traditional hindu wedding as well as a catholic wedding.

Geet smiled at Seb who winked back, how far we all have come from being young kids.

"He better stop winking at you" Maan growled as he walked up to stand next to her. He looked almost sinfully handsome in his black sherwani. "I swear one of these days I'll bash him up"

Geet glared at Maan, "Don't say that about my buddy. Anyways he is married to Naina, so why the jealousy?"

"Poor Naina being married to the imbecile" Maan smirked, loving the angry flush on Geet's face. "Anyways I don't want to talk about him when I have my lovely fiance by my side"

A slow smile grew on Geet's face, I can't even stay angry at him. Thankfully Mel walked up to them, stopping Geet from acting like a lovesick teenager.

"Mama, can I throw flowers now" Mel asked with a big smile, "Dadi says its fine"

Geet patted her baby's head and nodded. It was so sweet how close Dadi and Mel had gotten over the last few weeks, almost inseparable. In no time Mel had become the beloved granddaughter of the house, everyone forgetting that there was no blood connection.

Geet expected Mel to throw flowers at the couple getting married but Mel surprised her by throwing it at her and Maan.

"Baby what are you doing" Geet quickly whispered, embarrassedly checking if anyone saw it. "You have to throw it at the bride and the groom."

"But you are bride and groom as well" Mel pouted in confusion."I want to throw it at you!"

"Yeah Geet, we are getting married as well" Maan smirked in an evil fashion. "It's time we sealed the deal"

"Argghh" Geet sounded frustrated, "You are not to encourage Mel! Mellie, we will get married but not today"

"Why not?" It was Maan who asked.

Flushing with a bit of annoyance and a lot of love, she managed to say, "Well if you are so brave then let's do it" It was said in a flippant manner to stop him.

But Maan Singh Khurana was no weakling, "Fine, if that is what you want"

Geet gasped as she saw the intent in his eyes, the glint that said he was going to do something reckless, "Maan don't-"

But her words were stopped as Maan Singh Khurana kissed her in front of the whole world.

Geet would have liked to have been mature and cirmcuspect enough to move him away but she was a woman in love. It didn't matter that she would be mortified the moment they broke off but at that moment she melted his arms.

Oh bother, Geet thought as she was kissed senseless, Well, I guess might as well get married soon"

"Let's make it official Mrs Khurana" He whispred against her lips with a wicked grin as he finally pulled away.

Oh lovely... Saying good bye is always difficult... I will miss limitlessness of maan and geet... I will miss the romance which i can able to feel in updates...
Carzyness and carelessness in young days nd maturity of older age... It is a story which will always be part of my memories...
