Hello, hello! Long time, no post! š
I completely agree with you about Vikram being evil and stooping to any level to get what he wants. BUT I wouldn't say this is because of his love for Geet. I don't think he actually loves Geet but he feeds off he image of himself as Geet's lover, if that makes any sense.
there is a very thin line between loving something and wanting it !!! while you want something and not love it, you could love something, and not want it as well.. there too many permutations and combination's involved ...!!in this case, its a clear case of not getting what you always wanted ...!!! Vikram starts off with how he always loved her while she was in HP ... he may not have loved her... just fancied her... the fact that she was married off first to a man, and then she went ahead to be with another in itself to Vikram is a huge defeat !! Cos though he may never have been in a place where he was worthy of her, he always looked at both times as chances where he missed her! That is what has filled him with all the angst !!! somewhere at the back of his mind, he knows geet doesnt belong to him, and he also knows he is wrong, but he constantly tells himself he is right and ends up putting Geet on a spot too !!
What I mean to say is that if he really loved Geet he would want her to be happy, which she clearly is with Maan.there are very few selfless lovers in this world my darling, the verry idea is overrated and only over glorified on shows !!š others resort to either moving on or resorting to reconciling with the next best available!!!! But this guy has an obsession and rather than being obsessed with Geet, I think he is obsessed with the idea of being this passionate lover, willing to go to any lengths to get his love. We don't know his psychological background to know why he is so infatuated with this idea but there is definitely some deep-seated insecurity that spawns this obsession. I also think that Geet being from a strict patriarchal family may have attracted him for the challenge, as he clearly feeds off the challenge that Maan presents now.hadnt thought about it that way before, but yeah, sounds like a plausible reason, her family background and the unattainablity .. which just cemented with time!!!
I think it is just a coincidence that Geet happened to be the object his mind focused on. She filled the blank in his mind somehow and became the justification for tendencies that had always been there.you always want what you are denied! the forbidden fruit story dates back to Adam's age!! I say this because he continues to enjoy dodging Maan. He wouldn't do this repeatedly if he didn't. The way he addresses Maan shows that he is not scared but that he feeds off the adrenaline rush of the cat and mouse game. this is totally agree with !š
Vikram has built a whole story in his head, where he and Geet are inevitable lovers, cruelly separated by the world and he is the tragic figure who is forced to battle these obstacles in order to get his woman. interesting thought!!!But to him Geet is just an object, a prize for winning a game. This guy is not mentally balanced enough to even understand the meaning of the word love and the selflessness it entails. He is only about making the story in his head and real life the same.
There was one particularly effective dialogue, where he says "Mein sirf tumhe apne bahoon mein aur dil se lagakar apni chahat puri karna chahta hoon". Here we see that he doesn't want to make Geet happy, but wants to "win" her only to fulfill his own fantasy as a passionate lover.
Similarly when he whacks Maan from the back and talks to Geet, he lies to her and makes it sound like he has won the fight, which in his mind he has, because his perception of the world lies in a moral vacuum, where the only thing that matters is making his fantasy, reality. He also lets Maan go instead of killing him, which to me indicates that on some level he wants Geet to accept him, in spite of Maan but also likes the challenge, which he know will be significantly reduced if he kills Maan.
Basically, I think he is in it for the chase, rather than the prize and Geet is just an excuse for him to manifest all the deep-seated issues of his disturbed mind.
