An Indian television award ceremony being held at Wembley. Do you think small screen industry in the country has arrived globally?

It is heartening to know that our shows are getting recognised around the world and people are loving the characters in them.

Don't you think television stories need to change as at times, they seem caught in stereotypes?

Indian TV industry has all kind of stories, from comedy to serious social issues to saas-bahu sagas to programmes for youth as well as reality shows. It has a variety and people love such shows. That's the reason these shows are being made.

How much of yourself do you put in your character to make it exciting?

I believe every character is different and requires 100 per cent effort and hard work. The character of Geet is entirely different. On one hand, she is a bubbly girl who loves to talk and on the other, she is a mature woman who has gone through a number of hardships. I feel the theme and screenplay catches viewers' attention.

The onscreen pairing of Maan and Geet is often referred to as the SRK and Kajol of television industry. Considering SRK-Kajol gave some blockbuster movies together, would you consider working with Maan (Gurmeet) again?

Gurmeet is a nice guy and has always been very supportive. But I prefer not to stick only one kind of concept or one co-actor. I like exploring, love meeting new people and am an amiable person. So in my next show, I will like to work with someone else.

Not many serials run for long. Even if you take up a new serial, you are best remembered for your last role. How do you adjust with the short time span of the serials?

It is true but I've never thought about it. It's been over a year that I'm working for Geet Hui Sabse Parayi and enjoying it. It's very challenging and exciting too. People call me Geet but that's okay. I had worked earlier in different shows so I think it's about the scripts you work on.

With Indian TV dominated by women characters, do you think we need to correct the gender balance and make space for men?

I think it is balanced. Like in my show, though the character of Geet is of a strong woman who takes her own decisions and always stands for what she feels is right then also people talk aboutGeet and Maan.
