I asked myself today, How Much Do I love GHSP?

And I came up with this. 😃

Its a WONDERFUL show.
Probably the BEST hindi show I have ever watched...and i've watched sooo many (easily over 40) lol.

The reason why I love it?

To me, television shows have never been about watching my favorite couple together, or crushing on the hero. As an audience member, what draws me most, is the quality of the story.

1. Television shows are not just about ratings and money. Networks see the business side of it. The audience sees the artistic side of it. Money and ratings come and go, but what stays is the actual product itself. PH's make History EVERY TIME they make a show. They are putting something out into the world, and it will be forever preserved in that light.
4LIONS gets this. They understand that their job- its not to get ratings for the network (although thats important😊), its to create a show with written-integrity.
One that actors will WANT to work on. One that writers love to write. It shouldn't be just a job for the people involved in the creative aspects, it should be their passion.

2. GHSP was the first show I ever watched that portrayed an actual healthy, loving relationship. Shows have portrayed healthy marriages (but those usually have very little love and are more based on a "samjhota" than actual love. And usually
the hero is in love with someone else, and only married the heroine because he was forced. Shows have portrayed romantic relationships, but those RARELY, if ever, end up in the leads married to each other- and if they do get married, they don't stay married.
** SARCASM ALERT** 😃How lovely eh??? Now thats a story worth watching...lol. Every little girl should watch shows like that when they come home from school, and they should learn that love is about having to put up with crap.

BACK TO NORMAL👏--- Sarcasm over😆

3. The audience is constantly worried 😕 (pins and needles type situation) about how and when the hero and heroine will get separated.
Not In GHSP👏⭐️.
The very feel of the show is different. You know they will come together. And even when apart, they worry and care for one another. She's pregnant with another man's child, but he's worried about her getting sick.
Their love does not fade or alter, like ever. And definitely not because of some sautan-like 3rd party's antics. The longevity of their relationship rests solely in their hands.

4. GHSP also has one of the strongest female characters I have every come across. She has a will of iron. When Maan needs to informed about something (whether its her pregnancy, his brother's truth, or blood donation) Geet does it. She gets all dolled up😆 (gotta love her), holds his hands, looks straight at him, and just says what needs to be said. I LOVE that part of this show. Sooo sweet and ...just WOW.

5. If it were some other PH, the hero would have been Dev's character, not Maan's. Normally Maan (the brother the heroine picked) would have been portrayed as the "one she somehow ended up with, and is now happy with" (that would of course be said in a weird defensive tone). She and Dev would have shared constant longing looks, because he was, her "first" after-all. What bakwas. In GHSP the heroine fell in love with the boy deserving of her and her love.

6. If it were any other show, the heroine would still be in constant contact with the family that decided to let her be killed. She would have been reuinited with all of them by now, and living happily in and around them. Yes, there was a reconciliation between her and Darjee, but forgiveness is healthy and its a part of life. Geet didn't forget, and she never will. It was a show with an actual (yet subtle) social message. It literally spelled out to girls and women what love should look like, what it should feel like.

I have SOOO many more reasons ⭐️👏...but yeah. These are just a few. So I ask all of you now,
How Much Do You Love GHSP, and why??
😆😆😆

If it were any other show, Dev would be negative and chakki pissing in the jail perhaps. GHSP stood out different even in those terms. 😆 and made him an out and out positive character. 😛

Okay one thing that I loved about GHSP then was the pace and how it was more about the small small moments between Maneet that make us go crazy and mesmerizes us... except for the Annie-Arjun and Amritsar track, rest all the misunderstandings, confusion was sorted out soon enough.

Great post! I agree with everything you said 300%!!!

Geet is the first Indian TV show that I have been totally obsessed with. After I started watching it, all the English shows I watch seem to have faded into oblivion in my mind! I just feel like Geet is so much more relatable to my life.

I love Geet because she is a modern Indian girl, and doesn't have to be from a city or wear mini-skirts to achieve that characterisation. She is modern because she fights against aspects of tradition that are wrong, without rejecting it entirely, fights for what she wants and deserves, and ends up with a guy who really loves and respects her and for whom she feels the same, like you said. 😊 There are no compromises, they find that perfect person, and they get married, which is, as you said, teaching girls what love should be like!

I also loved Geet's wardrobe. It was so realistic and yet so pretty. Her outfits were simple but flattering, not to mention practical! She is one of the first hindi serial actors I have seen not to wear their waist-length, poker-straight hair down, while cooking, which is frankly unhygenic, and high-heels on a daily basis, again a completely ridiculous idea. I love her flat jhutis and her trademark choti, which have become part of her character as a real and empowered woman!

I ALSO love, love, LOVE Daadi! Instead of being the typical gold-digger and wanting her grandson to marry a rich girl, and causing problems because of Geet's situation, she genuinely wants both her grandsons to find lasting happiness. She is the first character in the show to understand how much Geet can do for Maan and doesn't waste a moment in helping them along.

Even though Dev's return and his repentance has always been controversial, I like that they were brave enough to give him a second chance, especially now that they are causing him to confront his past from the new position of psychological security. Dev was never really negative, just weak and desperate for some approval, I think. What he did to Geet was horrible but I think he thought, I will never see this girl again, what's the harm? Or rather he wasn't thinking at all. This story forced him to confront his wrong-doing in a deeply personal way, the possibility that he didn't just ruin some random girl's life, but his brother's happiness as well. It has been a long fight but Dev and the CVs are winning me over!

And finally, even though it wasn't always well articulated or supported by good side-tracks, I loved they way their relationship developed after marriage. It started out with Maan in control, being her perpetual rescuer, and liking it, and I think Geet believing this was for the best but then ultimately claiming her right as his equal in the relationship. Maan learned the adverse effects of his anger and how to check it in the name of family and maintaining relationships and Geet learned to be a little more assertive. This for me culminated in the bankruptcy track where both characters showed more maturity than I ever thought possible on a TV show!

Wow, that got long! But it's all your fault, with your great post, I was inspired! And when it comes to GHSP, counting the ways I love it would be like trying to count the stars! (I guess Barry Dhillon's words of magic are rubbing off on me a little 😆)

Thanks for the reply😃. I thought I had lost my mind with this essay long topic...😆
I agree with everything you said. She wears what she wants to wear. Just like any modern girl. Her character is very relatable. This is where GHSP really gains a major plus. Geet's thought processes and her reactions are very real. In other shows I can never quite tell what the heroine would do or say next. Its always so out of the blue. Here its like..."yep ...she Would say that...👏👏"

I especially agree with the quoted part. I didn't think they could do it. Make Dev a positive character I mean. I remember in the beginning, thinking, "Are they actually daring to do that?". But just like you, they are slowly winning me over.
Even NT, she's not evil per se. She's just extremely mentally unbalanced. You could actually see her losing her grip on reality in the beginning of the show.

The thing with the creative team on this show is that, even though the side-tracks sometimes get tossed aside 😃, they know what their ultimate vision for this show is, and they don't deviate from it. There is direction, they're not just trying to fill time slots. And I just love how they write the story. They don't give too much (or any really ⭐️) importance to fans demands. The written integrity of the story and the characters are more important. Maan can't remember, so he's being HP Maan. Its heartbreaking, but pretty damn brilliant.

The moment where Maan reads the letter from Geet, and tries so Hard to remember. My god...😭😊. Moments like that make this show.

very well written... 👏👏👏 i'm not happy with quite a few things they have shown and i'm also not happy with the quality of writing since the past few months... but i still stick with this show because it has a certain charm that i feel lack in the top trp gaining shows (i honestly do not even know how people watch some of them!!!)..
some of the scenes that have really stood out for me (besides the usual mahi mahi ones of course) are -
all of the HP maan-geet scenes.

geet getting brij arrested and leaving her family.

geet telling maan that she's pregnant and maan's reaction.

maan crying and apologizing to geet for choosing her over the baby.

the whole shaadi sequence starting with the khoon bhari mang to the actual wedding.

everybody's reaction after the miscarriage from geet to maan to dadi, annie and dev.

the whole memory loss track.

these are just some of the examples which stood out because of the lack of melodrama... especially the wedding and miscarriage scenes could have been stretched and stretched like other daily soaps... but i love the pace and the somewhat realistic treatment given to the show...

of course the best parts of the show are GC and DD... they completely draw u in with their performance as well as their mindblowing chemistry... without them this show would not have reached this level... and that is something i'm quite sure of... the kind of magic we feel when we see these two together even after more than a year is something that could not have been possible with any other pair of actors...
