Hi everyone, I was really sad about how few responses I got for this post so I am re-posting it one last time before I resign myself to it's fate 😛. Please do comment and discuss!
I don't know if anybody noticed but it is one month today since the crew came back to Delhi and the Amritsar track officially ended. We all had high hopes for the Delhi return and I was wondering how you all feel July has panned out. Just as a recap, here are some of the highlights of the show this past month!
(note: I know July was horrible for rumours and unfounded controversy but I am only talking about the show in this post)
1. Maan finds out he has been stripped of all his property and Dadi is in the hospital
Who we suspected: Dev, Adi, NT
Culprit: Dev's Mom and Maan's stepmom, Parminder Khurana
Yes, the sweet lady from HP released the Mr. Hyde within for a brutal and underhanded take over of all of MSK's assets. MSK was just like "whatever mummyji, keep it..."
2. Where will they live?
This was one of my favourite parts of this month's track. I loved Dadaji's house inside and out, loved the intimate Maaneet moments that happened there (July 7th was just one of the most beautiful episodes). I also loved both their maturity and understanding as a couple and Maan realising how strong Geet is, emotionally. Would have liked to see a little more of this track but was happy with what we got!
3. What will they do?
LOVED Geet's teaching job and the respect she was getting for it. Maan not being able to get a contract because of Pammi was also exciting. Heart broke when he did mazdoori and was thinking of Geet the whole time.
4. Is Dev good or bad?
Will he give in to his mother's nefarious plot?
Nope, he was good. Guess the need to impress Nandini had him toeing the line 😛
5. Too good to be true 😭
Silver Lining: The return of Daadi!
Lucky finds out Daadi is being kept unconscious by the ever-evil Pammi. Adi finds Maan but Pammi corners him and gets the him whacked across the head. Gut wrenching scenes of Maan's torture and escape!
6. Geet is the Malkin of KC
Pammi finds out and tries to hold an escaped hostage ransom. Geet signs the papers with some wonderful, withering dialogues,harangues Pammi for Maan's whereabouts, Pammi draws a gun from her stylish silver clutch and points it at Geet. Dev takes the bullet, Pammi goes crazy, gets arrested, Dev disowns her.
7. Babaji, Maan kahan hain?
Beautiful performance of GC at Maan's escape from Pammi, singular focus on the gurudwara, helped out by some friendly paajis. Beautiful, heartfelt prayer by Geet. Geet finds Maan outside Gurudwara after some tense hit and miss moments, takes him to the hospital
8. Babaji, Geet kaun hain?
Silver Lining: Return of Pinky!
Maan forgets Geet! Reverts back to old, cold, arrogant and angry MSK (Hotness!) of 1.5 years ago! Apparently before he had problems with Dev, or Dev was with NT. So far he has asked Dev and Daadi some penetrating questions which they have answered with very little accuracy and very much hemming and hawing, sigh. Only Geet seems to know how to properly handle the situation but Maan doesn't want her anywhere near! He finds her presence and everyone's seeming dependence on her very grating.
9. Tandon ne kiya barson ka intezaar
For none other than...Savitri Devi, what a babe! Their history was a pleasant surprise to all, except maybe Maan. Sorry Lala Amarnath/Ranjith Singh! But at least you left your angry young potha to keep an eye on Tandon's wandering eye.
10. Almost-Mahii moments after ML
Geet bumps into Maan bringing juice for him. He grabs her arm and shoves her to the side.
Maan backs Geet into a wall while telling her she must cater the next party
Maan grabs Geet's arm at the party and shouts at her for having it at home...he gets chakkars but this leads to nothing except Geet promising to fade into the distance.
She faints from fever and he calls out her name (GEET!) hesitates to touch her hand, then holds it, picks her up and carries her to her room, but leaves right after
He gives her another chance to work at KC!
Gets her out of the shelf-situation, eye-lock which he breaks by saying I am only here to help you. What else did he think was happening, hmmm.
Geet says she will take notes despite her mangled wrist, Maan is about to look mildly impressed when Mamaji crashes the moment, argh!
(Wow now that I think about it, there have been quite a few moments)
11. Dev learns multiplication
Dev somehow manages to multiply into 3 (I thought only Rajnikanth could do that!) and have a talk with himselves about whether Nandini loves him or not. But none of the three seem concerned with Maan's health, Geet's predicament, or the fact that he is a convicted felon. Can't wait to see Maan and him have a talk about why he doesn't come to the office. Dev shakes hands with mystery woman, who could it be????
12. Lucky shakes the bal-brahmachari from his tapasya.
Adi Sir is in quite a state these days with Lucky and Pinky bonding over khaana-peena.
So there you go, a very brief summary of the month that was. I personally loved it for the most part! IThe dialogue have been spot-on, both humourous and serious and the plot has been fast and interesting. I think the CVs are really taking time to sink their teeth into this new track and establish a good story with suspense and drama. Now if they would only give Geet some new clothes and make Mamaji's role more than random slapstick comedy, I would be a very happy viewer indeed.
