Are CVs imitating Ramayan because of Gurmeet?

The similarities between current Geet track and Ramayan's Ayodhya Kand are uncannily similar. Are the CVs copying the story of Ramayan because Gurmeet played the role of Lord Ram before Geet? Is this being done to garner Gurmeet's Ramayan fans who do not watch Geet? Maybe to see if they are interested in seeing Gurmeet as Lord Ram again, albeit a modernized version?
