@Deniac/Gauri
What a lovely story, I loved it. Though I have not interacted with you I I have enjoyed reading your comments and analyses over the months and have come to recognize your IF name, now it is good to know your real name too.
I agree the Geet forum on IF is a wonderful place, which I would never have known about if a friend (who's been on IF many years now) had not told me about it when I first recommended that she watch Geet.
I, like yourself, have watched this show from its very first day. I'd got Sky installed 2 years ago when my parents came to visit me and I wanted dad to be able to watch NDTV. They came and left and I never watched any of the Indian channels till one day last April I came across Star one as I was flicking channels and this was just a a week or two before Geet was due to start and I was immediately attracted to the story. I'd not watched Indian shows in nearly 20 years and I'd no idea who the people in this show were, just that Geet was a very pretty girl. It was the social aspect of the story that got me in and I got hooked to it from day one.
When M came along, I had no clue who he was and in fact, i just couldn't stand either M or GC (honestly!) but then by June was totally in love with both M and G and nothing, no power on earth could get me away from them and their show. I've scaled the heights of happiness with them in their joy and suffered the agonies and agnst of their sorrows with them since they came alive on our screens last year.
I'd no idea about IF till a friend came to visit me last August when I made her watch Geet (and got her hooked to it) and she told me about IF. She in fact specially recommened the Devil's Den. I started reading the posts and comments and loved the camaraderie and friendships I saw, but did not have the courage to join till about September when I felt provoked enough to put in a post warning the Cvs not to mess around with the story( but to what avail! look what they've done to it).
I did put in a few comments ocassionally, and did get a few responses, but not many. Meanwhile, I started recognising names and styles and perspectives, but did not have the courage to say much. I still can't get over the post the Shonuu put up the day G told M about her pregnancy, my friend and I spent an hour on the phone (an international call) laughing our heads off at that post. And along the way I made one or two friends, I've had a few pms from people responding to some of my posts.
The devils have been great company, as have the idiots. I'd always wanted to write in to the den seeing as the comments were so intelligent, witty, creative, incisive and so, so, so funny. I've even used some of the posts in this forum in my teaching! I love the things people say to each other, even the personal things.
So finally this April I gathered my guts and entered the Den and people have welcomed me very warmly and responsed to my posts. I do put in my comments and posts but with some hesitation as I am wary of barging in with my comments and disturbing (and disrupting) conversations between people who clearly are good friends and want to probably talk amongst themselves. So may be a time will come when I will become part of the inner circle, but even otherwise, I enjoy my place in the peripheries.
I've never belonged to any group ever, so this expereince of having conversations with people I've never met is absolutely deligthful for me- it has opened up a whole new world for me. Most of the time I live in the rarefied world of academics , which is dull, boring and totally cut off from the real world, so it is wonderful to interact with real people of the real world. And this group is certainly made up of some very highly educated and qualified people, i am very impressed when I discover that someone is a scientist or a doctor or anything really.
Thank you for your lovely post, I loved it so much that I had to write in and tell you about my experiences too. I look forward to more writing from you.
Enjoy your day wherever you are.
The same to all who read this post.
