Something writtenb by Medha via PM about yesterdays episode and Geet's POV....
The Yet-to-Be Verbalised Charge
So, Geet finally verbalised that what compelled her to leave Maan was a "sin" (gunaah) that he had committed. It appears that she has given this some thought for she said that her decision not to forgive MSK and return with him is the biggest decision of her life, bigger than the decisions she had to take earlier with respect to her baby, with respect to carving out her own identity.
Yet, we were not told what that sin is, leaving the field open for several conjectures. The charge is yet to be laid. And, it's a good thing that the charge was not verbalised yesterday to a third party for it is the accused (MSK) who ought to first learn of the charge she brings against him.
So, what was the "sin" committed by MSK on that fateful Holi?
It could be him assailing her self-respect. But, if his words had wounded her self-respect, she would have left him with the intention of proving it, as she did during the Indian Paints fiasco. This time, she did not leave to prove a point. She just left and was drifting about aimlessly with no sense of purpose.
It could be the use of words such as *honour* and *dishonour* (beizzati) that led her to conclude that the undertones of it questioned her *honour* and *purity*. Had seeing Dev apply colour to her and seeing her apply colour to Dev reminded him starkly that he was not the first man for her and therefore caused his outburst? If you want to refresh your memory, I would refer you back to the analysis of the Holi episode about what set MSK off. I would probably not venture so far as to say that he doubted her fidelity or that Geet understood it that way. His words could have reminded her starkly that her past contained a physical relation with a man none other than Dev, that this past still affected MSK and that she was not *pure* enough for him, despite his earlier protestations. This would mean that she now considered herself unworthy of him and decided to leave him on this account, for his own good. Yet, if this is her line of thought -- that she is not pure, that she is not worthy, it does not accord with her charging MSK with having committed an unforgivable sin. Given the lack of self-talk and the emphasis on these dialogues, the team will have to really delve deeper into this. .
What do we have so far? What have we seen of her reflections thus far? The words that keep replaying in Geet's mind are MSK's words through which he tells Dev that he could not forgive him because the Khurana family's blood runs through his veins, in which there is honour, and that if Geet did not have that same honour, then it was not his problem. So, was it because for her, this was him repeating his words, "There was never an us between you and me, Geet" (Tumhare aur mere beech mein kabhi hum tha hi nahin, Geet)? It had hurt her unbearably when he had said this to her in the attic. And, he had to restore the *hum* between them after the fake engagement scene in the office. Yet again, he had made a distinction. He had broken the vows they had made to each to other. They were one, he had divided that one into two. He was a Khurana, she was not (and, here, I do not allude to the Khurana name-tag). That would also explain the flashbacks she got while leaving Khurana Mansion. Were the rituals she completed on entering the Khurana mansion mere rites of passage, which truly did not hold any meaning? Was she Geet again and not Geet Maan Singh Khurana? Now, given what we have been shown (for the others require a major leap), this is the only possible *sin* that I could identify. In any event, MSK will first have to be told of the charge against him. And, if this is the charge, Maan would have his work cut out in restoring the the *hum* yet again.
Anyways, I gather that we shall soon find out. I am waiting for him to ask her yet again, "Ghar chalein?" And, a non-verbal, affirmative response to that. And, for this, I am prepared to wait.
