It is International Women's Day today..on this day, I want to commend the PH, the channel and the CVs for having actually chosen to focus on a subject of serious social relevance..gender related crime is on the rise world over and GHSP focused on quite a few aspects of it initially..kudos to you for that!

Having said that, I have to now ask you why you have allowed the show to get to where it is now..you have now moved so far away from the premise that you set out with that there is no connect whatsoever..

Be it Dadi's defense of Dev and her insistence on his continuance at KM, Geet's transformation from an earnest professional to a nagging housewife with no concept of work ethics, Anne time and again trying to woo a man who, by his own admission, raped her trust, Nitya's hitting on her male colleague - the women in your show are not quite how we would like to see them..they have ceased to represent the cause of justice, fair play and empowerment..they are turning into extremely regressive specimens of womanhood..not women who are in anyway role models..not even the protagonist whom, we were told, people would eventually deify!

Fine, yours is a TRP driven commercial show..we respect that..romance was what boosted your TRPs..no quarrel with that either..we don't expect your protagonist to fight a lonely battle a la Nargis in Mother India..we are happy for this very charming hero that you have paired her with..

But why, oh why, have you gotten her to live under the same roof as a perp? No amount of blood can justify that, CVs..cinematic liberty for the story to move forward, you say? Cinematic liberty at the cost of a woman's dignity, I say! Am sure there are other ways of doing this...his continued presence in that house and inclusion into their lives is a crying shame..and disgusting to boot! You had veered away from the justice track for long..people say it is a way to get it back on track..couldn't this have been done with more finesse..Dev's presence in KM as also Geet's indifference to it are unreal..the shocking ease with which Dadi discusses Maan and Geet's relationship with Dev makes me cringe..Annie's wanting to know if Geet had cooked breakfast for Dev made my blood boil! These women make me ashamed to be one! I don't want you making me feel good all the time but please don't make me feel so low by depicting my gender in such poor light..I am not talking about Naintara or Sasha because they were clearly pitched as negative characters..the others are not cut out of the same cloth..or so I thought!

And this whole baby track..I am not going to ask you to clarify gestation periods and the like..those are minor story details..I have more substantive issues that worry me..what is the message you are trying to send across to unfortunate women who are in the same situation as Geet..that they should continue with their pregnancies..that millionaires like MSK are lurking around the corner with open arms...? I wish you had issued a disclaimer right at the beginning that the solutions and situations proposed in the show are pure fantasy and in no way relevant to real life! For we have people who seriously believe that there is an underlying message with regard to the baby..is that true? Are you actually trying to send across this message that all those unfortunate Geets out there should go ahead with their pregnancies..that they should keep the children of their rapists..for motherhood alone would glorify their womanhood..? For that seems to be the message that is going across..

I would like these points clarified..although commitment to gender parity can neither be conditional nor change according to the calendar, a reaffirmation of commitment is good on specific days..like reaffirming your love on Valentine's Day if you like!

A Sach ka Saamna would be a good beginning today..thank you!

Very well written....and you have made some very valid points. What you wrote about Dadi's and Annie's behaviour with Geet about Dev is really shocking. How can they take all that happened with Geet so lightly or should I say practically forgotten!

The GHSP reunion we had waited for! Photo edit.

After being disappointed at Abhinav reception, never thought we'd get to see this... Thanks to Debina for posting the original photo. It's good...
