Although it was a rather warm day for March, there was no need for the air conditioning to be turned on, thought Geet as she shivered while staring outside. The big studio room's replacement of glass for walls gave speculator views of the New York skyline that would take anyone's breathe away. But Geet didn't notice the beauty of the city, the bustling of cabs and people running to and fro. She was to busy with mentally torturing herself for something that was out of her control. She had decided to take up a yoga class to finally ease her body and mind from all the damage she was causing body these past few days. But it didn't help, this ridiculously long yoga class (about two and half hours) had a fifteen minute break which was plenty of time for her mind to wander into crevices of her mind that she wished to block.
She was sitting on her yoga mat aimlessly staring outside thinking of the man that occupied her life for so long now. She loved him no doubt but what she couldn't understand was how long, just how long until this crazy guy realize it himself and finally propose to her. For goodness sake they were childhood best friends, who went off to college where they realized they were in love so it's not like then needed anymore time. And now with most of their friends either married or engaged, Geet was left hoping more from Maan now. Their relationship was the only one that remained in limbo and she just couldn't take it anymore. So, they had an argument about this which ended up in both of them not speaking to each other for the past few days. While reminiscing about all this Geet made up her mind that it was all his fault and was on the verge of screaming when finally she was broken from her thoughts at the voice of her overly giddy yoga instructor Gina.
"Alright, break is over students I would now like to teach you some more advanced yoga poses but before that let's do some stretching and then we will begin." So they did some deep breathing exercises then stretched with simple poses such as the Balasana (child's pose), Kapotanasana (pigeon) and Phalaksana (plank). Finally Geet started to relax as her muscles loosened and her mind cleared. But her soon to be better half was well less than relaxed.
Maan was anxious because today was the day that we was going to propose. He knew that by prolonging this ritual of two people deeply in love left his lady upset these days. But what could he do, this isn't something he was so used to. And yes, even though he is Maan Singh Khurana he was only human who like any other had nerves that had gotten the best of him lately. But finally Maan decided today he will do it since she was going to least expect it. He had gotten to know from Meera that she had taken up a yoga class in the evenings. Since she wasn't speaking to him these days he had to get information from other sources about her well being.
Finally, the class was about to end. They laid in their savasana pose (lying on back) for total relaxation while the instructor made her way around the room telling them to focus their minds to their place of perfect peace, away from hectic schedules, financial issues and obligations. They were to simply focus on their paradise.
Geet's mind drifted to a snowy cabin in the mountains where she would sit in front of the cozy fireplace snuggled up into a blanket. Then the thought of snow along with the blasting air conditioning in the studio caused her to shiver so she sketched that idea and moved her paradise to a warmer environment. Now, Geet reveled in the idea of laying on an exotic beach basking in the sun. She could feel the heat radiating into her it could've been from the sun or maybe from the fact that she now imagined Maan slowly making his way towards her. The sight of his golden chest glistening due to sweat was causing her to melt. He slowly strut towards her and placed himself over her with a one sided smile on his gorgeous face. With only centimeters of space between their lips Geet was getting agitated, it'd felt like forever since she felt those lips due to their separation. She needed him, their time apart made her hungry so she slowly moved closer. She was almost there and then her concentration from her paradise was getting blurred the soothing music that was playing had now stopped.
Great, she thought even in my dreams I can't have him. She realized class must be over now and slowly began to open her eyes so they could adjust to the light. She really must have been in deep relaxation she thought while looking around since she was the only one left in the studio. She got up and started to roll her mat, then she heard his voice echoing in the empty room.
"Geet, baby, I know you are upset with me for not doing this a long time ago. But the truth is that I was nervous. I know what you are thinking, the great Maan Singh Khurana and nervous? Well you know I'm only human and feel all the emotions the rest of the world does, I just don't express them often. So that's why I took so long to do this but I finally decided it was time."
She was looking around the room searching for him but couldn't see him anywhere.
"Geet, I have no words to explain just how much you mean to me. I'm so grateful to God for giving us the pleasure to share so many laughs and memories together while growing up. You are to me what cake is to a fat kid, what Juliet was to Romeo, what...okay I'll stop right there since I'm getting all cheesy now. But you know that I'm not good at this kind of stuff. What I'm trying to tell you is that, Geet, you mean the world to mean without you I feel lost and lonely."
She was getting emotional now; tears were beginning to brim in her eyes. And then spilled over when she then really heard him, no longer was over the speakers but in person. She turned her head slightly and saw him walking through the glass door.
"Geet, I want to give you so much love that no one else has ever to someone. I want to travel the world without, raise our children with you, grow old with you, celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. I want to marry you, Geet."
By this time Maan finally made his way in front of her on one knee with a ring in his hand. "I love you, Geet, I love you so much. Will you marry me?"
Geet was going through a sea of emotions. She knew that Maan loved her but since he had never openly said it made this so much more special. Geet's love for Maan just multiplied tenfold. She had no strength left in to her utter a word because she was so emotionally drained, so she simply nodded and threw her arms around him. This caused him to fall over onto the mat with her on top. She nestled into his neck and turned her face towards his ear, "Of course I'll marry you Maan. I love you too and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you."
Even though they loved each other the fact that they were now openly expressed themselves verbally gave them both peace. Their heartbeats began to pace normally now.
Maan slowly pulled Geet away from him and looked at her. She had tears rolling down her cheeks but a smile that he would do anything to see. He was about to kiss her when she questioned him about why he chose to propose today.
Maan replied, "You are seriously asking me this Geet, how could you? You know that guys go crazy just by glancing at your face can you imagine where they're thoughts would go when they see you in skin tight yoga pants and a tank top? I almost had a heart attack when I found out but no more Geet. You are not taking yoga classes anymore.'
"Maan aren't you being a little dramatic?" Geet said while rolling her eyes.
Maan slowly moved his hands away from her arms and down to her hips. While caressing her, Maan huskily whispered "Geet, if you really want to do yoga I can't wait to do it together, just you and me. I can teach you all the poses, which I'm sure will come in handy on our wedding night." He had a smirk on his face by the end of his proclamation of using yoga as an excuse to get more physically close with his to be wife.
Geet pretended to be not too fond of his naughtiness and said "Maan, you are so shameless sometimes."
Maan laughed and said "Yeah, whatever you know you like me that way."
Geet had no choice but to agree with this statement and said, "You are so right, I do love you that way" she then inched closer to his face and closed the gap between their lips.
