Here is something I wrote in the den:

Seeing Geet's action yesterday I'm reminded of Rabindranath Tagore's poem, "Where the mind is without fear". Here's the poem and my interpretation of it for Geet.

Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high

She fearlessly spoke her mind and exposed the culprits whether it was in front of the office staff when Sasha tried to slander her name or in front of the entire crowd attending her wedding where Brij tried to justify his inhuman actions in the name of family honour.

Where knowledge is free

She was made aware of her rights by her man who gave that knowledge for free for he did not even know her well then.

Where the world has not been broken up into fragments

By narrow domestic walls

Unlike her family which is steeped in orthodoxy and dogmas, giving little importance to human life, Maan, who is her world now, still has high integrity and broad mind to accept her with her baby.

Where words come out from the depth of truth

She has always been able to speak the truth, however bitter it may be and whatever be the cost of it. She nearly lost her love because of her admission of her pregnant status but she did not want to hide this important information from the man she loved. It is only later did she confess her feelings for him.

Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection

Whatever she took up, she strove for perfection. She was unqualified for her job but that did not deter her from doing her best in it and even excelling in things which did not strictly fall within her job portfolio. She was willing to give it her all, even at the cost of her health at times.

Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way

She may be a bundle of confusion before taking her decisions but once she is convinced about the path she has to tread, she never loses sight of reason.

Into the dreary desert sand of dead habit

Where the mind is led forward by thee

Her life has not been a bed of roses. In fact it was more a bed of thorns but she never failed to count her blessings even while faced to adversities.

Into ever-widening thought and action

She has come a long way from the gullible and naive small town girl. Her thoughts and actions have broadened and she is a woman of substance now. What is commendable is that she has achieved all this while retaining her inherent innocence of character.

Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake.

She stands for the liberation of woman and has been awoken to it. What remains to be seen is will she be able to awaken her fellow sisters who are still shackled by the heavy chains of society.

As much as hate to agree with you about SR, I think you are right. Maan will act the perfect gentleman and say lets wait until the baby is born. For us, that could very well be in 2012. they better give some good romantic fillers until then😡
