So i was gearing up for a brief Maaneet separation and to cheer myself up, started watching all the old episodes of Geet ...
(Sigh)š šššš what chemistry... what a story....
(But that is besides the point....)
Anyway... so i realised that there was a turning point and since then somehow the story has gone in jerks with many twists and turns, differnt from what we would have expected originally...
that got me thinking about what the story could have been from that turning point.... have attempted to put that down... not an OS, FF, but just some thoughts on what could have been...

the story till then
1. Maan and Geet attracted to each other... Maan prickly coz he is getting atracted to Geet despite trying to stop himself
2. After accusing Geet of being after his riches, Maan has admitted to himself that Geet isnt like that, it's only his defence mechanism
3.After being upset with Maan, Geet has realised her feelings at the Durgah and has decided to leave the house
4. Both have come to terms with their feelings.... Maan stops her and they kind of call a truce
5. Next day, Geet acutely uncomfortable coz of her feelings for Maan and behaves very clumsily
6. Turning Point: Rasika Rathod's entry, Geet insulted, Maan puts his foot down
I call this the turning point not only because since then there have been many jerks to the story, but also since then there have been many fluctuations in the TRPs.... somehow they havent been the same and the meteoricc rise hasnt been there...
So, how differently could it have gone? Starting over from point 5
5. Next day, Geet acutely uncomfortable coz of her feelings for Maan and behaves very clumsily
8. Dadi realises that neither will acknowledge their feelings so devices an ingenious way to get them together...
9. Asks Geet to help her find a bride for Maan... Geet feels bad but starts helping her... Maan surprised at the number of 'women' who start falling his way
10. Figures out what is going on and is furious about these 2 women interfering in his life.... tells Dadi that he will deal with her later... sub-consciously knows about Geet and his feelings and starts teasing her about the kind of women he likes (no long hair, salwar-suits, small town...)
11. Next day Pari enters, (planted by Dadi) Geet really jealous, keeps cribbing to Adi-Pinky... Adi Sir starts laughing coz somewhere he's realized why Geet is so irritated
12. Geet feels it is her duty to tell Maan sir why Pari isnt good for him and goes to look for him...
13. Pari leaves having done her job... with Maan & Geet more comfortable wih each other... but Maan still refuses to accept his feelings... and Geet has her own problems
14. Entry of Sameera, (what you thought there would be no drama in this version??!!!!) as a very important client.
15. Maan old devils come back, but this time he begins to realize and appreciate the differences between Sameera and Geet; somewhere he knows that this time, it is different; all women aren't the same
16. Sasha keeps trying to butter up the new client so that she gets to work with her, while Dadi tensed at this unnecessary entrant
17. Geet in the meantime starts trying to look for Dev to face her old devils...
18. Maan, while still grappling with Sameera's re-entry and attraction to Geet, yells at Geet making a sweeping statement about 'auraten...'. Geet, raw from revisiting her past yells at him that 'dhoka is not just something girls do, guys do it too; and when girls are betrayed, they suffer from not just a broken heart... but also wounded pride and loss of face in society'
19. she breaks down and runs away, making Maan realize that there is a lot in her past too...
20. Another confrontation and eventually Geet tells Maan her story... and why her family wanted to kill her.... Maan stunned...
21. Maan completely shocked, doesnt know what to think... then remembers the all the past instances - how channi's mother mentioned that Geet was married, how she had said the land was taken by fraud, how the day of the suhaag raat she was looking for someone, how in amritsar she was disraught and he had misread the situation, how he met her at the canadian embassy, how she had mentioned 1 galti, how she said she needed the job, and how she mentioned she had no right to feel anything....
22. After the initial shock, comes admiration, and the realization that the woman he had deemed as weak had behaved in a hugely courageous way... and how much strength of character she had - courage, truth, simplicity etc.
23. Sameera, who is a positive character, also makes him take on his past and move on (she has already moved on...)
24. Thus, Maan's doubts are at an end, he realizes this is the girl he wants to spend the rest of his life with, loving her BECAUSE of what she is... and he decided to her in style...
25. He gets after Geet, in true ruthless MSK style, and doesnt stop till she also acknowledges her feelings...
26. Eventually both accept the love for each other and decide to get engaged...
27. Dadi ma over the moon decided to throw a lavish engagement party....
28. Dev enters the picture... Nayantara also comes back
