OOOHHHHHHHHHHHHH I sense a debate
LVraaz, forgive me for the essay below, but this is a topic that drives me insane-- why do CVs think that we ask for too much, why can't they understand that we're only asking for a minimum and that we'll simply stop watching shows that don't live up to our expectations.
Do you really mean that our expectations are too high-- really?
All I ever want from a TV show is internal LOGIC-- for characters to stick to the way they were written originally, for storylines to have internal validity.
As you can probably tell from the list of shows I watch-- I have no problem with storylines that are NOT close to reality-- fantasy, overwhelming romance, ghosts and ghouls-- it's all acceptable, as long as the show sticks to it's internal rules.
No one expects reality on screen (or if they do, they are fools)-- but we DO want to see the rules written by the creators STUCK TO-- no retcons, no having to rely on fanon to explain away plot inconsistencies. Its also nice to not have the entire plot hang on a single misunderstanding-- a single line not spoken, a single note not read-- Shakespeare got away with romeo and juliet dying because of a misunderstanding, but he did it centuries ago, and he is without parallel-- nowadays, I'm sick of seeing couples who are supposedly madly in love with each other misunderstanding each other becuase of a single missed phone call or a single misunderstood message.
Case in point- Sujal and Kashish-- madly in love, then ONE NOTE broke them up-- after that, despite the fact that Kashish LOVED sujal, she was willing to believe him a murderer.
The other thing that is unbearable is IDIOCY being introduced to the storyline to prolong the story (amnesia, facelifts, identical twins, story-leaps)
Shall I list guilty shows-- Kasauti, Kahani, Raja ki ayegi barat, DMG, Bandini etc etc etc etc etc etc................I could go on for ever.
Why is it not possible to write a show where the internal logic remains valid, where the characters remain true to what made us fall in love with them and where the show comes to an organic end without being dragged out for all eternity?
Is that REALLY too much to ask for?? Are we really too demanding?
So far, you've managed to escape every trap-- there were intial suggestions that you might misstep, but things were turned around
(I'll never forget watching an episode where Geet is shown to be on the verge of falling in love with Maan-- way way way too early, when she LOGICALLY should not be anywhere close to ready for that emotion-- at that moment, I thought the show was going to jump the shark...............but you recovered it, you drew back, and forgot that episode and let things develop organically)
I don't know what it is, whether it is our over the top involvement, whether it is our vociferous lobbying for logic-- but so far you've managed to avoid losing your internal logic and validity. Even now when Maan was on the verge of being chocco-fied, you pulled it out of the bag, and had him say that he was STILL THE SAME.
See, when a show sticks to its internal logic, we STICK TO WATCHING IT-- its all we want, a show thatflows organically, and without making beloved characters behave foolishly out of character.
So I'll stick to GEET, as long as you guys keep up your end of the bargain. But you have to understand, CVs enter into a relationship with their viewers-- you sell us the characters from the first show, and we buy into it. If you start altering the deal half way through, or changing what we are buying, we are entitled to call off the deal.
I'm just hoping that you're the first CVs who keep the bargain to the end-- no one else has yet, lets see how you do!!
