Ibtadaae ishq hai rota hai kya,
Aage aage dekhiye hota hai kya.

[ibtidaa-e-ishq = beginning of love]

Translation:
This is the beginning of love so why are you crying
Let's see what happens going forward

Qafile mein subah ke ek shor hai,
Yaani ghaafil ham chale sota hai kya.

[qaafilaa=caravan; Gaafil=one who is careless/ignorant]

Translation:
There is noise in the caravan in the province
Otherwise could I have ignorantly slept on

Sabz hoti hi nahin yeh sar zamin,
Tukhm-e-khwahish dil mein tu bota hai kya.

[tuKhm-e-Khvaahish=seeds of desire]

Translation:
This whole ground could not have been green
The seeds of desire u have sown in my heart kya (why)

Yeh nishaan-e-ishq hain jaate nahin,
Daagh chhaati ke abas dhota hai kya.

Translation:

The signs of love linger and do not go away
The stain in the breast/chest it is pointless (abas) to wash

Ghairat-e-Yousaf hai yeh waqt-e-aziz,
Mir isko raigaan khota hai kya.

[Gairat-e-yusuf=Yusuf's honour; aziiz=dear raigaan=Waste]


Translation:
The honor of Yusuf is in time dear
Will Mir (the poet) lose it in waste
