It is more than 2 weeks since I wrote this. I had forgotten about it till you guys brought this page back. Anyway the way the track is developing now, my original thoughts may not fit in. For whatever it is worth, I am posting what I had then written.
Maan comes to know of Geet's past in Hoshiarpur:
Maan does his best to dig Geet's past without letting her know what he is up to. He engages a private detective who is a lazy guy who takes the money but does not do his job. After waiting for him to give him some news, Maan gets frustrated with his inefficiency and fires him over the phone.
Geet who enters his cabin just then wonders who is the man and why is Maan angry with him. She tries to find out but Maan only snaps at her saying that it is his personal matter and not to interfere in it. Geet is hurt and thinks he is getting back at her for not discussing her own personal matters with him.
She leaves his office in a hurry. Just as she steps into the lift, a young man steps out of the adjacent lift. As her head was bent to hide her tears, she does not notice who the guy is but he sees her and is shocked. He goes into Maan's office and notices an angry Maan pace up and down the cabin. Maan had not noticed that Geet was upset when she left him as he was still preoccupied with the thoughts of the detective and his inefficiency. When the stranger calls out to him he looks up and all his anger disappears. He rushes to hug him.
It happens that this stranger is an ACP and is a childhood friend of Maan. He asks Maan what was Geet doing in his office. Maan is taken aback that his friend knows about Geet and asks him how he does. The stranger then tells him that he had met her in Hoshiyarpur where he had served before getting transferred to Delhi recently. He then tells him how Geet became the talk of the town after she got her brother arrested and broke all ties with her own family for the injustice they had meted out to her and being silent spectators to a possible honour killing.
The friend then tells him that an NRI had tricked the family and married Geet for her dowry and property. After getting possession of her things, the guy left her stranded at the airport. Later it came to light that the guy was already married and the entire marriage between him and Geet was staged. Maan is shocked hearing all this. Slowly he pieces together the many puzzles that surrounded his interaction with Geet. He understands why Geet was unaware that her property was sold. He understands why her family tried to kill Geet and he begins to admire the tenacity and courage of the girl who went against her own family to gain her rights. He realises that he was wrong to think that Geet acted like a coward and did not betray her brother.
He then questions his friend as to who this mysterious NRI is but the friend knows nothing more than the fact that he was from Canada. Maan wonders whether his brother will know anything about him but without a name to go by, he realises it is like finding a needle in a hay stack. Maan asks Dev if he knows about any NRI from Canada who has been duping Indian girls. Dev recovering from the shock of being questioned by his bro, gets alert as he had already seen Geet and will evade the issue.
