I'm soooooo sorry. Somehow, some people on my pm list were not in my Buddies list, which is what I used to send the pm out. I could have sworn that every one was on the list, but 😕

Nothing Can Keep Us Apart

Part 11 - A stormy reunion.

It was easy for Dadima to tell Maan to get a good night's sleep, but not so easy for him to do. As he lay awake in bed he was extremely conscious of the taveez hanging around his neck. He felt like it was burning his skin, but he couldn't make himself take it off. It was hard to find the motivation to go into the office, but he really had no choice. There was some important paperwork that required his attention, in order to go forward with the join project with Mr. Sharma. He came to work with a very short fuse, not helped by the fact that Sasha decided to pick today to bring up the situation with Geet.

"MK, I think it's time that we start interviewing new secretaries. After all, Geet is obviously not coming back, and she was never really right for the job anyway. I promise that this time I'll find someone who fits in better."

Sasha would have continued her tirade against Geet, but Maan stopped her by telling her that there was no need and to leave, as he had important work to do. Maan understood that his staff found his behavior to be strange, but he didn't care. Pushing aside the files in front of him, and rubbing his face with his hands, Maan decided that maybe he needed a break. He was just about to leave his office when he noticed Adi and Pinky speaking to each other. Struck with sudden inspiration, Maan called Adi into his office.

"Adi, you and Pinky spend a lot of time together, eating lunch and talking, etc."

"Y..yes sir, b..b..but we're n..not d..d..d..date.... I mean s..s..s..s..sometimes....."

Giving Adi a very stern look, Maan interrupted saying, "you and Pinky dating or not makes no difference to me. I'm only interested in finding Geet. Pinky has not been very forth coming with me. I want you to f ind out anything and everything she knows about where Geet is."

Adi tried to protest but Maan insisted he speak with Pinky when they had lunch together that day. Pinky soon figured out what Adi was up to and flatly told him, "Geet won't tell me where she works or lives because she doesn't want anything to do with DD. She only allows me to meet her at random places around the city, just to avoid DD finding her."

When Adi related all that Pinky had told him to Maan, he thought that MK was displeased. Actually, Maan had his first good feeling since Geet had left. Now he knew for sure that she was still in Delhi and she and Pinky would meet sometimes. This meant that if he had Pinky followed, eventually she would lead them to Geet. After calling his investigators with this new information, Maan wondered why it had never occurred to him before to have Pinky followed.

Destiny was with Maan that day, for Geet and Pinky had agreed to meet after Pinky left work that day. When they met up at the agreed place, naturally Pinky suggested they get some food from one of the street vendors. Geet agreed as she had recently started to experience hunger cravings and an increasing appetite.

"You know, Geet, DD wants to see you so badly that he even had Adi ask me what I knew about you."

"You didn't tell him anything?" questioned Geet fearfully.

"I only said that you wouldn't tell me where you live or work." Geet breathed a sigh of relief as Pinky continued, "but Geet, I don't understand why you won't at least speak to DD."

"Pinky, it hurts too much even to think about him, so please just leave it, please." Pinky agreed and the girls finished their food, unaware that they were being observed.

Maan received a call early in the evening that had him racing out of the office and into his car, telling the driver to go home as he would drive himself. He raced through the streets of Delhi think to himself, "Finally, finally!" When he reached his destination he became shocked. It was the store where he had bought the pregnancy book! Not sure if him was at the right place, Maan peered inside cautiously. His heart breathed a sigh of relief as he saw the beautiful face that had haunted him continuously the past three weeks. Maan was so relieved to see how well Geet looked. He also took in all the subtle physical changes in her body due to the pregnancy, which seemed more pronounced to him because of their separation. He watched as she animatedly spoke with the woman who had sold him that book more than a week ago. He relief started giving way to acute anger as he observed her smiling face. It seemed as if she didn't have a care in the world, while he had been driven nearly mad with worry over her.

Maan could not handle where his thoughts were going for another second, so he strode into the store, strait up to Geet, and grabbed a hold of her arm. As Geet stared at him in shock, Maan said in a low, angry voice, "Chalo mere saath!" Geet struggled as Maan gently, but forcefully began dragging her out of the store.

"Chod do mujhe!" cried Geet. "Chod do!" Maan ignored her angry words as he continued to pull her towards his car. Nandini was very concerned to see this stranger behaving in such a way with Geet. She ran after them and asked Maan, "what do you think you're doing with this girl?"

Maan didn't glance once at Nandini, instead looking strait into Geet's eyes, said forcefully, "Mein usse shaadi karta hoon." Geet and Nandini both stared at Maan's infuriated face with shock, as Maan opened the car door and put Geet inside. He then quickly got in the car, locked the doors, and drove off. Nandini, having realized that this man, who had bought What to Expect When You're Expecting just last week, must be Geet's Mr. Khurana. Being a wise lady, she understood that Maan was not as bad as Geet had thought, and that she would let them have some time alone to work out their differences.

However, Geet was not so kindly disposed toward Maan. "Oye, Khotay! Who do you think you are, saying you will marry me! You have no idea how much I hate you, Jhoota!" Geet continued to accuse and abuse Maan, saying everything to him that she had kept locked up inside. "Do you know how much I cried, thinking that you were my friend, only to find out that you betrayed me instead?"

Maan a had enough! Pulling the car to the side of the rode he yelled, "Bas!" so loudly that Geet was startled into silence.

"I've had enough! You've accused me of practically every crime you could think of, without even giving me a chance to explain. I was not working with Dev. I did not help him to cheat you. I HAD NO IDEA WHAT HE WAS DOING! I was in Hoshiarpur looking for someone, and it was pure coincidence that I became interested in your land." Geet scoffed at this remark, but Maan continued. "I've done my best to see Dev arrested for what he did to you. I gathered all the evidence I could and turned it over to the police. He would be in jail now if he hadn't run away." Geet was now staring at Maan in shock. "Bahut gussa mein ho, Geet. I pulled investigators off of Vicky's case to look for you, just because I was so worried. You have no idea how worried I was, so I don't want to hear one more word out of you!"

Geet was quiet for a few minutes, before she asked, "Vicky, kaun?"

"Chup!"

Geet stayed quiet, but continued to think about what Maan had said. She was shocked that he had tried to put Dev in jail. Had she been wrong about Maan this whole time? But what else was she supposed to think when they were brothers and Maan had bought her land? Why was he saying that he would marry her? Geet was very confused, and she stayed that way the whole time that Maan was driving in angry silence. When they reached their destination, Maan grabbed Geet out of the car and began pulling her inside, calling for Savitri as a stunned Geet looked around the huge Khurana mansion in awe.

Savitri came quickly when she heard Maan calling. When she saw Geet with Maan, she rushed over and embraced Geet tightly. Pulling back she held Geet's face in her hands, saying, "Geet Beta, kaisi hai? Sab theek to hai na?"

"Haan, Dadiji, mein theek hoon." Geet smiled at Savitri, but then frowned as she looked over at Maan while saying, "Lekin, I don't care if he is innocent, I'm not marrying him!"

"Geet, don't start your naatak again. You are marrying me. You don't have a choice!"

"Accha! So, Mr. Maan Singh Khurana, you think because you're big and important, that you can just force people to do whatever you want? You think because I'm a girl, you can yell at me and make decisions for me, and I won't say anything? You arrogant, rude, selfish, horrible, dusht daanav!"

"What did you say?" asked Maan, as he stalked up to Geet.

"I said dusht daanav!" responded Geet, not backing away.

While Savitri watched their argument with amusement, thinking how good they looked together even while fighting, she decided that it would be best to intervene before World War 3 broke out between them. Grabbing Geet's shoulders, she suggested that they should all have some tea, and that Geet could help her in the kitchen. Maan protested, but Savitri was very firm that she and Geet would make tea, while he sit and take some time to cool down.

As they began working in the kitchen, Geet began complaining to Savitri about Maan's insistence that they get married. "I won't be pressured to marry him, Dadiji. I can't believe he's even suggesting such a thing. You don't what us to get married, do you Dadiji?"

"Actually, yes I do." Geet was shocked, and began shaking her head no. Savitri continued, "Yes, I do want you and Maan to get married, but I promise you that I will not let anyone force you to do anything. However, I do have a lot that I want to say to you. Before you take your decision, I think you need to know the story of the Khurana family."

Precap:

Savitri picked up an album from the table, and began showing family pictures to Geet.

And Thanks Goes To:

This is a new section that I will be adding now that the show has been having great Maaneet scenes. Lately all their scenes have been so good, that I've been imagining having similar scenes in the story. So, from now on, whenever I have a scene that is similar, or if I copy some dialogue that is just so good that I have to use it, I will mention what I've used in this section.

The scenes for this part are:

Geet telling Maan off over the phone - July 1st episode
Geet and Maan conversation when she is holding the paper cutter - July 2nd episode
