Yes! Geet's family was rich.

Dev wanted to marry Geet because he was drowned in loads of debts and he needed money to clear them off so He and his wife made a plan to get geet married to Dev and in the name of dowry, they would get Geet's family land and after selling that land, dev would get the required amount of money and repay all his debts.
