The beach party continues ....
Nallu runs back to the group, asking for help. Roja gets down from the swing, runs inside to the cabin and changes into shorts and a tank top, and comes to help. Hosanna also runs along. One other person in jeans and Tshirt also comes to help, she has so much experience in lifting and carrying, having moved twice last year (with a lot of curses and exclamation marks!) and between the three of them, they manage to extricate Leela from her position. Leela looks around at them and realizes she doesn't recognize the third member of this party – who can she be? Could she be Nitipp? No way, this one is older than that. Suddenly, this person introduces herself, "Hi everyone, I am Laila, Leela's evil twin most of the time, once in a while I like to help if I can create more problems." No one has ever heard of Laila, so they are confused. They are pretty sure this is one of their group members, who is giving herself a false name. Oh well, Roja the detective decides to find out. She slinks away, looking for Girija and Padmini, who is nowhere to be seen.
Hosanna looks over at Jas, who asks her to be quiet, as she peers into the cave. Jas gives a big smile … she knows who the third mermaid is. It is none other than our scientific researcher, Fluidd, who has come in a mermaid costume. She looks gorgeous in her gold scales and fins and her long, flowing hair. As the girls are admiring the three mermaids, Jas tells them that if the mermaids are out on the beach, it can only mean one thing … this party is going to be a musical night, because when mermaids come out, they love to sing. Just as she is saying all this, they hear the mellifluous notes of a flute in the distance. They wander over to look and see Viji and Kadhambari playing the flute and Susan accompanying them on the drums. This is nice, so they sit down on the sand and listen to the music.
Suddenly, they see some girls, dressed in diaphanous veils and harem pants, coming out of their cabin, and all they can see is the eyes of these girls. The girls come out singing, and Hosanna realizes that the girl in the blue veil and blue pants, singing "Ennai kaanadha kannum kann alla … "is none other than Roja. The next girl is in a pink veil and pink pants, singing "Roja malar, raja magal …" "Who is this? Ah, I thought so, this looks like Nallu." This sounds like a lot of fun, what color shall I wear, and do they have any more costumes?" Hosanna walks over to the cabin and finds Leela, who is now in a green outfit. Now that Hosanna has come closer, she can see that there is a purple outfit also nearby. Hurriedly, she puts it on, but now she needs a song. As she comes out, she sees that Leela is singing, "Paartha nyabagam illaiya … " Oh no, what am I going to sing? Roja comes to her rescue, she tells her to sing "Azhagana ponnu naan, adhuketha kannu than …,so Hosanna starts singing. As they are singing and clapping, they hear the mermaids wailing in the cave. The mermaids slowly start slinking out towards them, and they are singing, or rather, wailing. The girls get scared and are clinging to each other. They see several more mermaids coming out of the waves. All the mermaids start singing together, but then Laila sings louder than the rest, and it looks like her voice can drown a million drums. It sounds like an elephant in distress, like a whale calling out, like a million crows cawing together, and every one on the beach comes to see what the commotion is all about. Roja has already called the police, and their sirens can be heard in the distance …..
