TS 2:

"She is not going to come."

"She has to come."

"We have been waiting here for three hours. Let's go home now. It's already 1 P.M. Are you planning to wait here the whole day?"

"That is not needed", he said, his lips curling to form a smile, as he found her at the large entrance.

"Is she the one?" said the other person with a horrified expression plastered on his face.

"Of course she is", he said confused.

"Then you better handle her yourself. All the best", saying this he scurried from the place.

"What the hell!!! Akki, where are you going?"

"Sorry bhai. I am not ready to listen to her lectures. I will be there at the parking. You finish your work as soon as possible."

His brother's actions were confusing. Did he know her? Well he could get the answers to his questions later. Right now he needed to complete the task at hand- helping the damsel in distress. Getting up from the seat, he picked up the red trolley bag, threw the empty paper cup into the dustbin and started walking towards the area with the board "ENQUIRY".

She walked hurriedly, making her way through the crowd. Just then she spotted him. She placed her right hand on her chest and heaved a sigh of relief. "Thank God. I don't need to search him", she said. It had been only three hours and she was going to meet him again. She cursed herself for being so careless. If only she had checked everything at the last moment, she would have prevented herself from landing into such unnecessary trouble.

She was clad in beige coloured jeans and a red top, her hair tied up in a pony tail. She looked different from what he had seen her in, a few hours ago, he thought. Nevertheless she looked beautiful.

He was in the same pair of faded blue jeans and white T-shirt, hair messed up. She could see the yellow stain on the right side of his shirt from far. It was because of the soup that he had spilt on himself which reminded her of another stain. Was he waiting for her all the while? She thought. Oh shut up. She said to herself. He had a reason to wait.

She reached the ENQUIRY' office and totally ignoring his "Hi", she said, "Your bag."

"Uh. Yes. Here is yours", he said handing her the red trolley bag, "I am sorry but last night I had to shift your bag to accommodate the other luggage. I thought I would inform you in the morning but it completely slipped out of my memory."

"Oh how wonderful of you! First you touch my bag without my permission and then you completely forget about it", she burst out angrily.

"Well I apologise for my behaviour, Miss", he said politely.

"To hell with your apology, Mister", she spat out and walked out of Howrah station in fury.

"Whoa!!! She is one feisty girl."

For the first time, a girl hadn't fallen for the charms of Arnav Singh Raizada!

***************

"How was the meeting, bhai?" Akash asked enthusiastically as his brother got himself seated in the car. He was waiting anxiously for his elder brother to return. "She was hell angry at me", Arnav replied. "So typical of Khushi", he guffawed. "Khushi? You know her. Am I right?" he asked Akash with his eyebrow raised. "Well yes bhai. I know her and unfortunately she is our neighbour." Saying this he drove off.

***************

"Was he handsome?" asked a girl in her mid-twenties as she saw her sister unpacking the red trolley and found her sister rolling her eyes.

"Don't give me that look and please don't tell me that you were so engrossed in your novel that you didn't notice him at all."

"I think he was."

"You think? Now that is some news. My jiji found someone HANDSOME. Seriously jiji. A handsome guy was sitting in front of you and was trying to strike a conversation with you and you were buried in your novel. How boring!" She said and giggled.

"Shut up Payal. He has spoilt my book by dropping that soup on it", she said as she took out her book from her hand-bag and showed the yellow stains on the white paper.

"It is just a book jiji."

"It is one of my Favourite books."

"I understand but then how could you behave so rudely with him, jiji? After all he had waited for three long hours just to return your bag. That was really sweet of him", Payal said dramatically.

"Excuse me", her sister said with her hands lying on the sides of her hips. "It was he who had exchanged the bags' positions. It was he who had forgotten to tell me about it. If he had been waiting for three hours, it was all because of his fault and not mine. Moreover, he wasn't doing any favour on me waiting there. He needed his bag in return too", she said stressing on the word he' each time she uttered it.

"Okay, okay I get it. There is no need to get so angry. You are too tired now. Please take some rest. I will go and check the arrangements for tomorrow."

She slumped into her cosy bed after a long time. As sleep started engulfing her, she remembered his face which had been her company for seventeen hours, not to forget the brief encounter later. She had just come out taking a refreshing shower after the tedious journey. She decided to unpack her bags when she realised that her bag wasn't locked. Panic-stricken she opened the bag only to find shirts, t-shirts, trousers, jeans, track-pants along with shaving kit and things indicating that the bag belonged to some male. She closed her eyes in frustration realising whose bag it could be. It was none other than her co-passenger with whom she travelled from New Delhi to Kolkata in the New Delhi-Howrah Rajdhani Express.

"Need help with the bag?" he had asked her. She had nodded a no. "Are you travelling to Kolkata?" he questioned. "Yes", she decided to keep her reply short. "That's great! I am going there too", he had said trying to start a conversation. She smiled in reply. She never liked conversing with complete strangers.

***************

"Wake up lazybones."

She opened her eyes hearing her sister's screams. "What is it, Payal? Let me sleep", she said pulling the duvet over her again. "It is 8 P.M. jiji. You have been sleeping for five freaking hours. Get up now. I came to inform you about Groom alert'".

She woke up immediately listening to the term Groom alert'.

"What?" she screamed, "Not again."

"Well I can't help. Ma will be here anytime. Be ready to listen to the qualifications of your prospective groom. I can just say one thing about him. He is damn handsome", Payal said with dreamy eyes.

"Have you met him?" she asked.

"Well, sort of."

"What kind of answer is this?"

Before Payal could answer her questions, she saw her mother barging into their room.

"Khushi, I see that you are up already. I have to talk to you", said Mrs Garima Gupta with a plane face.

"Don't tell me that you have found another match for me, Ma"

"Of course I have since you don't bother to find one for yourself. How long are you going to remain unmarried? You are turning twenty-seven next month. All your friends have already got married and even having kids. You just returned attending your best friend Lavanya's marriage in Delhi."

"So what, Ma? Is it a sin to remain unmarried?" she retorted back.

"No. Not at all. It is my mistake that I want to see my daughters married and well settled in life. It is my mistake to dream about playing with my grandchildren. I think I am going to die without even seeing my grandchildren's faces since my daughter has vowed to remain a spinster all her life", said Mrs Gupta trying to bring out some fake tears.

Khushi hated her mother's melodrama. She could never win arguing with her. She knew that however hard she tried, she had to give in to her mother's emotional blackmailing.

"Fine, Ma. I will meet him. I Promise. Please don't cry. When do I have to meet him?" she asked dejectedly.

"This time you won't have to go anywhere. He is our very own Anamika's son. He lives in Delhi with his grandmother Devyani Singh Raizada. He has come only for two days. Just make sure that you talk to him nicely tomorrow during the Puja. Don't put on this grumpy look. Okay?" Mrs Garima Gupta said smilingly.

"Okay Ma", she replied.

"I am going to prepare dinner. Both of you come in time", she said walking out of the room.

"I swear jiji Ma should seriously join those saas-bahu dramas. How does she bring those fake tears every time she asks you meet a boy? She doesn't even require glycerine", said Payal and giggled.

"Payal sometimes I wonder what papa saw in her that he decided to spend his entire life with such a drama queen."

"Probably papa's life was too boring and he needed some spice in it", Payal said and both the sisters burst out laughing.

"I need his details immediately", Khushi said with a strict tone.

"Whose?"

"You know whose. Ma's prospective son-in-law."

" Umm. Name-Arnav Singh Raizada. Age 29. The CEO of the Raizada Enterprises Delhi branch, presently handling the entire businss there since Arvind uncle and Akash are busy with the Kolkata branch they are planning to start. Soft-spoken. Has a great sense of humour. He has already impressed each member of our family except YOU. In short, Ma's ideal son-in-law", Payal said in a flow.

"You have done quite a research about him", said cheekily.

"Yeah! Collecting information about your prospective grooms is my duty jiji", said Payal with an amused expression.

The sisters giggled.

***************

He literally choked on his food when his mother had declared that she had decided Khushi to be the elder daughter-in-law of her house. The Raizada family had shifted to Kolkata some eight months ago and Mrs Anamika Singh Raizada had hit off instantly with Mrs Garima Gupta. She had grown a liking towards their elder daughter Khushi. She was polite, disciplined and strict in her principles, a perfect blend of traditional values and modernity. She had been coaxing her elder son Arnav from a long time to marry and always faced denials from him. So this time she decided to make him meet his prospective bride directly.

Arnav was on cloud nine already. After all he couldn't get the image of the girl in purple churidaar with French plaits, scrunching her nose when he spilt the soup on her book, out of his mind. This was going to be interesting. For the first time in his life he was hell bent on impressing a girl who was going to be his prospective bride. Girls always fell for his good looks and his cheesy dialogues. However, this young lady was different. She hadn't given him even the slightest of her attention.

"She is a no-nonsense girl. I am telling you bhai", Akash tried to warn his brother.

"Thanks for the information Akki though I know it already. I have spent seventeen hours with her."

"How on earth did you land in such a situation bhai? Did you not get any other girl to exchange your bag with? Moreover you ruined her book. Forget about agreeing to marry, she won't even talk to you", Akash said frantically.

"Relax Akki. Relax. We will see to it tomorrow whether she talks to me or not. Don't underestimate the power of your brother", Arnav said smiling and winked at his brother.

***************

It was a beautiful morning. How could it not be? It was Saraswati Puja today. Goddess Saraswati is the Goddess of Knowledge. She is worshipped by people of all ages in Kolkata. The people of Kolkata were busy checking the arrangements for the Puja. The idol of the goddess adorned in a white sari with the veena in one hand and a book in the other with a white goose settled at her feet was standing gracefully at the small pandal formed in the open space near the parking lot of the compound. The pandal was decorated with garlands made of marigold flowers. It was a small Puja organized by the families residing in Shantivan Colony.

It was traditional for the girls to deck up in various shades of white or yellow saris and boys to wear white and yellow kurtas.

Standing cross-legged with his back resting against a pillar, he watched her checking the arrangements for one last time before the puja started. Dressed in a white sari with golden yellow borders, a yellow three-quartered blouse, matching earrings, a wooden bangle in her right hand, and a small black bindi, she took his breath away. Her long black hairs left untied. She was an epitome of pure beauty in the traditional Bengali attire.

He walked towards her mesmerised.

"Hi! We meet again."

Her eyes popped out hearing his husky voice from his behind. She looked behind shocked. He had been dying to see that million dollar expression on her face.

"You? What are you doing here?" she asked shocked.

"I guess I am stalking you", he said with a lopsided grin.

Before she could bash him again, she heard her mother speak.

"Khushi, meet Arnav, Anamika's son", Mrs Gupta introduced shocking her even more.

So her co-passenger is her next prospective groom. She sighed at the thought. She folded her hands to say a Namaste without uttering anything. The puja had begun.

During the puja, while receiving flowers from the priest to offer to the Goddess, his hands brushed against hers accidentally. Both of them felt a jolt of electricity run through their bodies. She shut her eyes tightly pretending to pray though a myriad of emotions ran through her body. He smirked seeing the effect of a mere touch of his on her.

After the puja, she busied herself in distributing Prasad to everyone. When she reached near him, he extended his right hand to take the Prasad. She placed the contents in his hand very carefully avoiding any touch. "Khushi, are you still angry at me for the bag exchange fiasco? Look I didn't do it intentionally. I am extremely sorry for the trouble that you had to undergo.", he said in an apologetic tone. She didn't reply.

"Uh bhai. Ma and Garima Aunty want both of you to talk to each other regarding the proposal. Um. I guess you need some privacy. Why don't you take Khushi out for coffee?" said Akash smilingly gaining a glare from Khushi in return.

"Only if she forgives me Akki", he said disheartened.

She walked away without speaking a single word. He kept staring at her retreating form.

"I think you are right Akki. She won't talk to me ever", said Arnav.

"Apology cannot be bought. It has to be earned", came a voice behind them.

"Hi. I am Payal Gupta. Khushi's sister. I can help you in pacifying my jiji", she said extending a hand towards him.

"And why will you do that?" Arnav asked while shaking hands.

"That is because for the first time my jiji has been talking about someone for such a long time. You are quite lucky. Oh and she even finds you handsome. Another first", she grinned.

***************

"Come on jiji. He apologised to you. Don't be such a jerk", pleaded Payal.

"Oh! So I am acting like a jerk now. And what about him? Can't you see his audacity? How dare he gift me?" Khushi retorted back.

"Jiji he gifted you the same book which he had spoilt just to earn your apology and here you find this as his audacity. Unbelievable."

"Why are you trying to be his lawyer Payal?"

"Fine. Do whatever you feel like. But please meet him once. At least for Ma", Payal said and walked out of their room.

After the heated conversation with her sister, she sat on her bed and took the book in her hand.

Wuthering Heights' by Emily Brunte was one of her favourite English Classics. A smile automatically formed on her lips as she ran her fingers on the crisp white pages of the new book. She smelled it once. She loved the fragrance of new books. She read the note attached to it again.

"I cannot remove the stain on your book. I can definitely try to replace it. Once again I AM SORRY. :)

Your Co-passenger."

She was confused. Her big fat female ego asked her to return the book while her mind had forgiven him at the instant he had gifted her the book and apologised again. She is going to meet him, she decided finally shedding her ego. For the first time her mother had selected a guy who matched her likes in some way.

***************

He waited with bated breath for her reply. He had not seen her for quite some time. She had disappeared from the Puja venue. Just then he saw her bringing the lunch for everyone. The end of her sari pallu was tucked at her waist. Her hair was tied in a loose bun exposing the creamy skin of her back. He was dazed at the sight. He gulped seeing the sight. Stop it Arnav. She hasn't even accepted your apology and you are already trespassing forbidden territories.' He mentally rebuked himself. His trance was broken by a tug at his white kurta. A small boy handed him a chit and ran away. He opened the chit and read the contents. A smile appeared on his lips reading the phrases written on it.

APOLOGY ACCEPTED. WILL WAIT AT THE Cafe Coffee Day AT 5 P.M. ONLY IF THE OFFER IS VALID. ;)

He looked up contented. His smile turned into a grin when he found her flashing her beautiful smile turning her head a little looking at him.

The cupid had started playing its part finally.

PART 2

You are ten minutes late, Mr. Raizada. Didn't my sister inform you that I like punctual people?" A furious Khushi Gupta had asked Arnav Singh Raizada as he entered the Cafe Coffee Day.

"Will I be forgiven if I say I got late trying to select the perfect bunch of flowers for you?" asked Arnav while forwarding a bouquet of yellow roses.

"Are you trying to impress me?"

"Are you getting impressed?"

She couldn't hide the small smile that had started forming on her lips listening to his words that time, and even now she was smiling widely remembering her first coffee date with Arnav.

She had been very angry at him for making her wait for ten minutes. Who on Earth made his girl wait for so long? She had thought. Wait. His girl! When did that happen? While her mind was struggling to find answers to such questions, she saw him coming towards her with his usual smirk adorning his lips. She had wanted to lash at him but the cheesy dialogues that came from his husky voice had surprisingly calmed her. She didn't like such dialogues. In fact she hated people who used such words to impress her. But Arnav was different. Somehow his words, his flirting didn't irritate her. He was attractive and had the charms to woo any woman. She had admitted but her ego didn't allow her to confess it easily. Instead she had said, "Just because I have agreed to have coffee with you doesn't mean that I am ready to marry you." The date had ended there and Arnav had returned to Delhi the next day.

***************

Arnav Singh Raizada had a tiring day with back to back meetings and video conferences with the foreign clients. He slumped into the chair loosening his tie and ordered for a cup of strong black coffee without sugar. It was time to wrap up things for the day but before that that he needed to go through the details of an important project. While grabbing the cup of coffee, his eyes fell on the photo frame with the picture of the ever-radiant smiling face of his wife. As the bitter taste of the coffee made its way through his throat relaxing it in the process, he remembered her comment.

"How does he manage to utter such sugary sweet words in spite of drinking such tasteless bitter black coffe? Eww." Khushi had muttered under her breath but Arnav's ears were sharp enough to hear them. He had smiled inwardly.

Khushi Gupta was a tough nut to crack. They had talked over phone a couple of times after he had returned to Delhi but there had been no sign of her agreeing to marriage. The more he had talked to her, the more he had been attracted to her. However cracking business deals seemed easier than impressing Khushi Gupta. After a lot of pestering from her own family, especially her mother, she had agreed to the marriage proposal but with a condition.

***************

How silly she had been! She thought. She didn't want to marry because of her own insecurities. She didn't want to leave her home and her family. She had already rejected five grooms citing various reasons. However, a certain Arnav Singh Raizada had somehow managed to break her resolve of not marrying.

She had tried finding faults in him to reject his proposal but had failed miserably. Instead she had started falling for him. Every time she had conversed with him over phone, she could feel her heartbeats racing hearing his husky voice which felt sexier. Moreover her family wouldn't listen any of her excuses this time. They were hell bent on marrying her off. Finally she had come up with a stupid plan. She had declared one day that she would marry Arnav on a condition that she wouldn't leave her job in Kolkata and go to Delhi. She would live with her in-laws in Kolkata.

Garima Gupta had gone berserk listening to the weird condition that her daughter had put. She had shed buckets of tears repenting on the kind of girl she had given birth to. Shashi Gupta had been busy pacifying his wife and trying to instil some sense into her daughter's mind simultaneously. Payal had rushed to her room and had dialled Akash's number immediately giving him the recent breaking news. Akash had almost fainted hearing the news had his assistant not supported him. He had immediately called Arnav and the three of them had an hour long discussion regarding their future steps.

Khushi Gupta had a victorious smile on her face but little did she know that winning over Arnav Singh Raizada wasn't easy. After all he was backed by his grandmother Devyani Singh Raizada. She had already agreed for the proposal but hadn't met Khushi having faith in her son and daughter-in-law's choice. Arnav had revealed about Khushi's condition and the gloomy look on his face showed his disappointment and confusion. That is when Devyani Singh Raizada tried to interfere in the matter. After all nothing was more important to her than her grandchildren's happiness. She expressed her desire to meet Khushi and the next day Arnav had flown to Kolkata with her.

Just by looking at Khushi, she had known that Khushi was the perfect Raizada bahu. She could see an image of her younger self in her. Having lost her husband at a young age, she had raised her son single-handedly along with handling business. She could see the same fierce and strong woman in Khushi who wouldn't budge an inch from her decision. She had to be dealt her way and had advised Arnav accordingly.

To say that Khushi Gupta was shocked would be an under-statement. Arnav Singh Raizada had agreed to her condition! "Khushi, I don't have any problem with you staying in Kolkata and continuing your job. In fact this is a wonderful decision. Even I am thinking of shifting to Kolkata. We are already launching the new branch of Raizada Enterprises in Kolkata. So I shall handle the business here and Akash will be sent to Delhi." Arnav had said and thanked his daadi in his mind for giving him this brilliant idea.

"Okay, sure." Khushi had replied meekly.

The marriage preparations were in full swing. Arnav was handling business of both the branches since Akash was still inexperienced and needed Arnav's help every other second. Within a few weeks Khushi had realised the stupidity of her decision seeing a stressed Arnav barking orders over phone every now and then. Finally she agreed to stay with Arnav in Delhi after marriage.

***************

Khushi had taken a transfer in the Delhi branch of The Times of India where she was now the Editor-in-Chief. She was tactfully managing both office and home. She smiled thinking how she has changed after fifteen months of her marriage. Now she was a dutiful daughter-in-law and a loving wife.

While she was busy thinking how lucky she was to have a husband like Arnav, she felt a strong pair of arms encircling her waist and the musky smell of the cologne invading her senses.

"Thinking about me, Mrs. Raizada?" She heard him whisper in her right ear.

She turned around facing him releasing herself from his hold and said, "Why do you always presume that I think about you Mr. Raizada?"

"You weren't. Ouch. My heart just broke." He said placing her palm on his chest.

"Dramebaaz. Aren't we getting late for the party, Arnav?" Khushi asked.

"Wait", Arnav said in a serious tone. "Do you want your husband to murder someone tonight?"

"WHAT?" Khushi asked shocked.

"If you are going to the party wearing this sexy red sari looking smoking hot, men will be ogling at you at the party and being the possessive husband I won't be able to tolerate it. Someone will definitely be murdered by me today."

"Thanks for the compliment, Mr. Raizada but we are getting late and I am not going to change my sari."

"I never asked you to change."

"What do you mean, Arnav?"

"Let's not go to the party. I have a better proposal."

"But Arnav what will Mr and Mrs. Roy think?"

"Ahh. Don't worry about them. I will send an apology letter along with a gift. You know how good I am at that. Moreover, daadi is at Lucknow visiting her NGO. Don't you think we should utilise this opportunity in fulfilling daadi's wish." Arnav said with a wink.

Khushi's cheeks turned into deeper shade of crimson remembering daadi's wish. Last month when they had visited Kolkata, daadi had expressed her wish of playing with her great- grandchildren in front of both the Guptas and the Raizadas embarrassing Khushi and Arnav to the core.

"I love to see your red cheeks Khushi. You look cute," said Arnav kissing her cheeks. A shy Khushi is a rare sight.

Arnav pulled Khushi towards himself and asked, "So, Mrs. Khushi Arnav Singh Raizada, do you accept my proposal?"

"Accepted", she said and snaking her arms around her husband's neck, she took his lips in hers as Arnav lifted her and closed the bedroom door with a bang.

The night had just begun.

PART 1

"Khushi, why did you do this to me?"

He asked looking at her smiling photo. But he didn't get any response from her. She is still smiling, killing him from inside. Tears rolled on his cheeks.

"Arnav Ji..." he heard her calling him from the pool side. He rushed there to see no one. He looked around to remember their lovely, peaceful, intimate and adorable moments together.

Their almost kiss on Diwali night

She throwing hot coffee on his face

She was crying on his shoulder, for being cheated by her fiance.

Their horrible marriage

Their serious fights

He couldn't believe that she left him. He never thought she will leave him. It's been months she left him. Even though they fought but still he knows that they both loved each other. He loved her to the core, he loves her from bottom of his heart, and he will love her till his last breath. He sat there at the poolside on the recliner seeing at the stars in the clear sky.

******************************

Next morning he entered his cabin calling for Aman.

"Aman, arrange my travel and stay at London. You are accompanying me. We need to go there to finalize our deal. Make it sure we leave ASAP"

"Yes, ASR"

Whenever he needs to go London, he remembers her pleads to not to go. He remembers her pleads to trust her, he remembers her pleads to give her a chance to prove her innocence.

Arnav tried to finish his work as much as he can. He managed to finish his work and closed his laptop and stood up to move. When he is turning towards the door, his eyes caught something in rack shining little. He tried to move from there, but something stuck in his mind and he rushed towards the rack. He took the thing in his hand to feel it when tears rolled down on his cheeks.

"Khushi..." a whisper came from his lips. He closed his palm holding the Pearls' in his fist. He looked at the rack to find a note. He took the note and read

"I want you to feel me whenever you saw the Pearls - our first meet (PTO)"

He closed his eyes, tightening his fist. He didn't know from how many days it is there, but because of his strict orders and rude behavior, nobody entered his cabin and that helped the pearl to stay at the place. He cursed himself for not noticing it before. He turned the note seeing PTO

"Check the parking, the pole"

Arnav ran to the parking startling the staff. He rushed to the pole and looked at it to find a note in a zip bag securing it with so many transparent tapes holding it tightly to the pole. He pulled it and opened the bag to see the note

"I want you to feel me whenever you saw the rain - our first hug in rain (PTO)"

He can imagine the blush on her cheeks when she wrote the note. He saw the images of parking, their hug and rain. He closed his eyes remembering touch of her body. He called security and asked him from when this note was there.

From when did this is here?" Arnav asked

"Sir... woh... Khushi madam kept this here before you went to London, I mean before she... di... left... she asked me to not to remove it and not to tell you. She wanted you to see by yourself."

Arnav once again cursed himself for not seeing the note in his cabin before. He turned the note to see the next instructions - check the CD rack in car. He again rushed to his car and opened the door and almost jumped on his seat, opened the CD rack to find another zip bag containing a note

"I want you to feel me whenever you tie the seat belt, whenever you speed up your car (PTO)"

He closed his eyes to see Khushi's face when he tied her seat belt in search of his Di. A small smile appeared on his face going away in a fraction of second. He turned the note to see next place and drove to RM and rushed to his room. He opened the poolside door and rushed towards the corner where they almost kissed on Diwali night

"I want you to feel me whenever you enter poolside - our first almost ki... (PTO)"

He rushed to kitchen and searched for the next note in the rack where tea cup sets were kept. He took out the note and read

"I want you to feel me whenever you saw the hot tea or coffee - my first attack (PTO)"

Then he rushed to his bedroom, bathroom, and hall to find different notes about their beautiful moments - their silly and serious fights before and after marriage; Khushi calling him cockroach; and so many memories in their hall.

Now he went to pooja room and took the note from the feet of Devi Mayya

"I want you to feel me whenever you saw Devi Mayya statue - my friend; I want you to feel me whenever you saw the Diyas(lamps) - our missed Diwali moments (PTO)"

Then he rushed to the last place - again pool side he took the note from under his recliner. He cursed himself for missing these notes from long. He opened the note

"This place is very special to me. It gave ma all excited, tensed, worried, happy and sad moments. I want you to feel me whenever you saw the stars. Arnav Ji... they are our parents, talk with them it will help you in relaxing. They will help you in every second of your life. They will give you all the happiness of your life you deserve (PTO)"

He remembered her letter when she tried to suicide, thinking he will kill her to get marry to Lavanya

Lekin Aapke kaam ke to ye sirf taare hai. kyonki hamari tarah aapne bhi apne amma babuji ko khoya hai. Aur aap maane ya na maane, wo bhi hamare amma babuji ki tarah taare hi ban gaye hain. samajhiye hum bhi ek taara ban gaye hain. daaye se teesra, jo sabse jyada chamak raha hai wo hum hain

He looked at the sky and whispered Khushi' tears are running continuously on his cheeks. He also remembered her words in their Heer and Ranja act.

No Khushi... that was not my happy day... please come back. Please..." he knelt down under the sky near the poolside and cried his heart out. He turned the note to see the next place "Last place - study table drawer in Bua Ji's house" he rushed towards the house. By startling Bua Ji and Garima he entered to the room and took out the note

"Arnav Ji...

Thanks for coming here. I hope you all get my notes, and sorry for my crazy notes and sorry for irritating you. What to do arnav ji... I can't stay in peace without teasing you. I feel immense peace and secure whenever I see you shouting at me for my crazy pranks and antics. I feel secure whenever I am with you. And once again thanks for coming here. I never expected that you will reach here following my notes. Thank you for that.

I know you are angry on me. I know you won't trust me anymore. But still, I will tell everything, because it's my responsibility to tell you the truth. Arnav Ji... whatever I told you days before, it's all true. I never cheated you Arnav Ji. I never tried to harm Di. I will prefer to kill myself than living with that man. Whatever I said is true, if you still can't trust me then ask Bua Ji or any of our neighbors in Lakshmi Nagar. They will tell you the truth.

Arnav Ji... I was never wanted to marry that man. I was forced to get engage with him. I wanted to tell you everything on the pooja day before jiji's marriage. But I thought you can't bear the pain of being cheated by your jijaji. I always wanted your happiness Arnav Ji. I loved you all time, I love you now... and I will love you till my last breath. This life is yours Arnav Ji. Nobody have any right on me. Please Arnav Ji... at least for once try to understand my feelings, at least for once think about me being just Arnav not ASR, at least for once think with your heart, you will get your answers. Please Arnav Ji... trust me, at least before I die. Please... please...

I'm writing these notes now, after listening to your confession. I'm still has doubt that do you really love me or saying things just like that. But I wanted to prove myself. So, here are the notes. I don't know after you come from London we will be together or not. So, I'm saying all the things I want to. I don't know you saw all notes or only this one. No problem, you are here that's what I need. And finally one last word...I always loved YOU Arnav Ji, not that man. I Loved you, I Love you... and I will Love till my last breath" he can see the tear stains on the letter. He held the letter to his heart and cried his heart out making Bua Ji and Garima cried in silence. Bua Ji went inside and made Arnav sit on the bed and made him drink water. She forced him to lie on the bed and stroked his hair helping him to feel the motherly love. Slowly Arnav drifted into sleep.

In the middle of the night Arnav woke up with a jerk sweating

It's been months from Khushi left him. He never knew they will see this day in their lives losing their dearest Khushi. When they returned to RM after Khushi's confession, he didn't talk with her for almost one week. He left to airport without informing her to be kidnapped from where she rescued him not thinking about her life. When he found her in the bushes and saw the blood at the back of her head, he rushed her to hospital. He breathed in relief for handing her over to doctors' hands. But his relief didn't stay for long, the wing where Khushi was kept caught fire and... and...

He lost her.

He lost his Khushi in that fire.

He lost his life in that hospital.

The police investigated the case and found it's not accidental but it's intentional. And declared Shyam's the culprit. From that time, they are searching for him but couldn't find him.

Arnav felt at loss, loss of breath, loss of happiness, loss of love, loss of hope, loss of peace and finally loss of life. He couldn't forget the images of burning hospital with Khushi inside. He tried his best to get inside but he couldn't as people around him held him tight.

He cried for his Khushi that day and he is crying for his Khushi today. He asked her to come back to him. Still he couldn't believe that his Khushi left him. He forgot to smile, he forgot to love and finally he forgot to live

He missed his love...

He missed his life...

He missed her...

He missed his Khushi...

"Please Khushi... come back to me... I need you... I want you... I miss you... I love you... please come back" he said after knowing it's not going to happen, looking at her smiling photo, which decorated with the garland and with a lighting lamp in front of it.

"I miss you..." he whispered "Please come back" he broke into silent cries

PART 2

His thoughts got disturbed by his mobile ringing sound. He checked his pockets to find the mobile. He moved inside with irritation hearing his mobile ringing from there

"Hello..." he shouted with frustration

"Sir... we found Shyam Manohar Jha, he is in Vishakhapatnam. Few hours back our men saw him entering in the pub with a lady. After confirming, just now they informed me. What do you want us to do sir?" the person asked from the other side

After hearing the matter, Arnav's anger has no limits. His face and eyes turned into red

"Tie him up. Don't give any food and don't tell him anything. I will come there after finishing my work here. I need him alive. Forward the address to me. Remember, he should not escape or nobody should know about is whereabouts. I will be there in one or two days, till that time starve him. And don't forget to give water to him. I want him to be alive still I come there" he gave his orders to his man and cut the call

"Shyam Manohar Jha... nobody can save you now" he gritted his teeth.

When he is about to call Aman to cancel their London trip, he got the call from Aman. After talking with Aman for some time, Arnav rushed downstairs towards his Nani's room.

"Nani..."

"Come in Chote..."

"Nani... our men found him"

"Really?"

"Yes, Nani... just now I received a call confirming about him. I'm leaving there day after tomorrow. Bless me Nani to give him the punishment he deserves, his punishment for torturing our Khushi, his punishment for betraying us, his punishment for being reason for Di's condition. Bless me Nani"

"All the best beta... can I ask you one thing Chote?"

"Of course Nani... ask me whatever you want"

"Please don't spoil your hands Chote. Let your men give the punishment you want to give him"

"Nani..."

"Please Chote... I can't take it anymore. I faced much loss in my life. I lost my daughter, SIL, grand DIL and granddaughter. I can't lose you Chote. I need you at this age. Please Chote... don't leave me. Don't make your hands spoilt by punishing him directly. My heart can't take any loss Chote... forget about you. If something happens to you, then that will be my last breath. Please Chote... promise me..."

Arnav hugged Nani tightly

"I promise Nani... you won't lose me at all. I will surely come back to you, without spoiling my hands. You will have your grandson with you. Don't worry Nani, trust me... I will surely come back" he assured her and kissed her forehead before leaving from there.

Nani looked at his retreating figure and prayed Devi Mayya to give him all the happiness he deserves. She pleaded the goddess to forgive him for his deeds

*******************************

"Sir... relax... he can't go away now. Don't worry, he will pay for his deeds. We will make him experience the hell. He can't escape now sir... relax..." said Aman

Arnav nodded his head and held his hand

"Not sir Aman... it's Arnav for you"

"Sir!!!"

"Yes, Aman... till now I always buried my feelings. That is the main reason I lost my Khushi. I don't want to lose you. I never saw you as an employee Aman, you are always my friend. Khushi used to ask Lad Governor... why can't you accept the truth that Aman Ji your friend more than employee?' I don't know how she was able to understand me this clear. Now, if I lose you she won't be happy there. So, just call me Arnav if can accept me as your friend"

Aman looked at Arnav shockingly and hugged him tightly overwhelming with the offer. Who can reject Arnav?

They both discussed about the things they would do. After 2 hours and half, they both landed in Vishakhapatnam, and hopped the car waiting for them. They directly went to the place where Shyam was tied up.

While entering the place, Arnav had a satisfactory smile on his face hearing Shyam's cries. He looked at Aman and smiled showing his happiness

"Our men are very capable. Don't worry..." Aman smirked back

Smiling, both went inside to see Shyam who is fully drenched in his own blood.

"Saale sahib... you are here? Thank god... please save me from this people. They are trying to kill me without my mistake. Please Saale sahib... please save me" cried Shyam pretending his innocence

Arnav showed his hand to men and went to Shyam. Leaning on his face with anger in his eyes, said in dangerously low voice in Shyam's ears, "Don't dare to call me that again. What do you think? Whatever you say, I will believe you? I know what you did Shyam Manohar Jha. You are not going to escape from here now. I will make sure of that."

"What are you talking about?" Shyam was surprised and shocked but from inside terrified

Without answering anything to Shyam, Arnav signaled his men to continue their work. He sat on the couch along with Aman and observed Shyam's each and every expression and painful cries with a satisfactory smile. He can see Khushi's appreciating eyes looking at him. It made him smile more. But Shyam's next words stopped everyone in the hall

"Stop... Stop... Arnav... if your men don't stop killing me now... you will regret badly"

"Why are you stopping your work? Don't give any importance to his words. He will say anything to escape. Just continue your work" shouted Aman.

"STOP... KHUSHI Ji ALIVE... KHUSHI Ji ALIVE... SHE IS ALIVE..." shouted Shyam in hurry not able to bear the pain and making everyone jump from their places

"What did you say?" asked Arnav's man

"Yes, she is alive. She didn't die in that fire. I kidnapped her. Please... if you leave me I will take you to her. Please Arnav... believe me she is alive and I will take you to her. I will give her to..." Shyam stopped talking seeing Arnav's angered face. A chill ran through his spine seeing Arnav this much angry for the first time

"What did you say? Khushi is alive? Where is she now?" asked Arnav controlling his anger and urge to go to Khushi... his Khushi...

"Yes, she is alive. But she is very weak. If you want I will take you to her, bur for that you have to leave me" everyone in that room amused to see his guts. They are surprised by hearing Arnav's words

"Fine... I will leave you now. But if you don't show me my Khushi then you will be a dead meat" warned Arnav. He commanded his men to take him in car while they are following in another.

After travelling for almost around 45 minutes, Shyam guided them into a shed in out skirts of the city. The place is deserted. They all entered inside the room. It is completed filled with garbage and old furniture. Khushi staying there, the thought itself pained both Arnav and Aman. They looked at Shyam to know about Khushi's whereabouts. Shyam led them to another room which is filled darkness without any windows or ventilation. Shyam switched on the lights to let them see the tiny figure winced in pain causing by the light.

"Khushi..." whispered Arnav

Khushi, who came out from her coma recently, recognized his voice and tried to open her eyes hurriedly.

"Arnav Ji..." a small low cry came out from her mouth after failing to open her eyes. Next second she felt the familiar warmth and safety around her. "Arnav Ji..." now her voice is little audible.

"Shh... Khushi... you are safe now... I'm here... I got you... shh... Khushi... OMG Khushi... Khushi..." Arnav hugged Khushi tightly yet not giving her pain. Khushi opened her eyes with great difficulty to see her Arnav Ji. Tears ran from her eyes in happiness after seeing him. She smiled in her cries and looked around hearing Shyam's voice

"As I said... I gave Khushi Ji to you. Now, let me go from here. Our deal will finish. You have your Khushi, now I will live my life"

Arnav looked at Khushi as asking her what she wanted. She nodded her head in no and said "He was the reason for your kidnap. He was the reason for our separation. He was the reason for every bad happened and happening in our lives. I don't want him to go away. I don't want him to live happily. In fact I don't want him to live at all. I don't want any other girl to face his humiliation. Please Arnav Ji... Punish him. Please..." she said looking into Arnav's eyes

Nodding his head and turned to Shyam and said "See... you being my enemy, still I thought of giving what you asked for. Then how can I deny my life's desire? I can't disappoint her Shyam"

"This is not fair... you said, you will leave me when I give Khushi to you" Shyam shouted when fear gripping his heart

Making Khushi lay on bed carefully, Arnav went to Shyam. Holding his collar he said "Khushi is mine. Who are you to give her to me? Do you really think I will leave you after whatever you did to me, my Di and mainly to my Khushi?" Arnav gritted his teeth making Shyam shiver

"You can't back from your promise Arnav" Shyam was desperate to make Arnav agree to leave him

"Why can't I? When you backed off from your promises you gave to my Di and my family, why can't I back off from a promise which I gave to a cheater like you?"

They both stopped argue hearing Khushi's weak voice

"Please Arnav Ji... don't irritate yourself for this snake. He doesn't deserve your attention. Just give the punishment" she looked at Shyam with so much hatred in her eyes.

The trio - Arnav, Aman and Shyam looked at her surprisingly but understandingly. Arnav rushed to her side and held her tightly.

For the first time, Shyam felt guilt for making Khushi hate him. As being I-will-forgive-you-whatever-you-do girl Khushi is, she want Shyam to die, she is asking to KILL one person where she never wanted to give a slight pain to anyone. The trio understood what Khushi went through. Shyam regretted for the first time, but no use now' he thought. He closed his eyes in pain and helplessness and opened to Arnav and Khushi "I'm sorry for whatever I did. Now I came to know, what I did. I'm sorry Arnav... I'm sorry Khushi Ji. Please forgive me if you can" saying this, Shyam took the revolver from Arnav's man and shoot himself making everyone gasp in shock. Arnav's hold on Khushi tightened and Khushi hide her face in Arnav's chest crying not able to see the sight before her

"Shh... Khushi it's nothing... relax... don't excite yourself... its okay... relax... see I'm here... shh... shh..." Arnav tried to calm her down. After few moments he felt Khushi's weight on him. Arnav tightened his hold more and ordered his men to take care the things there and said Aman to take car out. Aman drove the car the hospital.

They left from there to Delhi, when Khushi got her conscious and threatened to not to allow doctor to treat her, if he won't take her to their home.

"You are so stubborn Khushi" said Arnav little irritated and worried for Khushi

"I just want to be at house between our family members. I'm scared Arnav Ji. I want to be with you at a safe place. I need you only for me. Please..." tears rolled on her cheeks. Arnav hugged Khushi tightly and cried his heart out

"Khushi... Khushi... Oh god Khushi... I missed you... I love you... I love you..."

**************************

Everyone stood there like statues. Nobody can understand what they are seeing. Nobody could believe what they are seeing.

"Nani Ji..." whispered Khushi

Forgetting her age, Nani ran to Khushi and touched her face frantically "Khushi betiya... Khushi betiya... Chote... Khushi betiya... Khushi betiya..."

"Nani..." they both hugged each other and cried. Everybody of the family rushed to them and hugged both Nani and Khushi and vented out their held up emotions. After spending lot time in hugging and crying, Arnav explained everything to them how he found Khushi and all. After that he took Khushi to their room and made her lay down on bed and tucked in the blanket.

"Khushi... you take rest... I will be back okay?"

"Please Arnav Ji... stay here. I need you..."

Seeing her scared face, Arnav couldn't leave her and go. He silently moved into the blanket and hugged Khushi tightly. He took his mobile and called Akash and asked him to come inside. When Akash came, he asked him to call doctor, explain Khushi's condition and come here to treat her.

"Shh... Khushi... everything is fine now, okay? I'm here with you. Don't worry, you are safe here, trust me. Relax... sleep now... doctor will come in sometime then you will be completely fine", saying this he kissed her on her forehead and pattered her back to sooth her fears

Khushi held him tightly by his waist and looked at him.

"Arnav Ji..."

"Shh... Khushi we will talk later... Now please you need to take rest... sleep now"

"Please Arnav Ji... let me..." seeing him sighing deeply and nodding his head, she continued "I was so scared Arnav Ji. Actually I was awake when that fire caught the room. He came there and held me tightly and asked me to leave you and marry him. When I refused him, he got angry and lighted the room curtains and came to me. He said, if he can't get me then he won't allow anyone to get me. He said I should die with him" Arnav hold tightened "But I refused. As that room was sound proofed nobody listened to my shouts. I called you so many times Arnav Ji. But he closed my mouth. When I tried to wriggle in his hands, he had hit me on back side of my head. I lost my conscious feeling someone lifting me. When just few days back I gained my conscious, he said I was in coma, but Arnav Ji... I didn't want to be with him. I wanted you all the time. I want you then and now. Please trust me. I never ever was with him. I hate him Arnav Ji... I never had any relationship with me... Please trust..." she couldn't complete her words. She couldn't understand what's happening, but slowly she understood by hearing Arnav's groan and his lips danced on her lips. Her eyes widened in shock and she opened her mouth to call him. But he used that chance and entered into her mouth to taste her fully.

After kissing Khushi for a few long moments, he broke the kiss and rested his forehead on her. He gave her sometime to gather herself and get her breath normal.

"Arnav Ji...!!!"

"I don't want you to think about our past. I love you Khushi... I missed you so much. I can't do that anymore. I can't live without you. Please... I'm sorry... I'm sorry Khushi... please forgive me... But please don't punish me by leaving me alone. I will die Khushi... please... I love you Khushi... I love you... I will die without you Khushi... I can't live without you... please Khushi... Please..." he cupped her face. Fear is clearly visible in his face and tears rolled down from his eyes. Khushi looked at him shockingly.

"Khushi..." called Arnav with a thudding heart while fear gripping his heart

Khushi hugged him tightly "I Love you too Arnav Ji... I won't leave you... I love you"

Both hugged each other tightly and stayed some more time and let out their fears. He broke the hug and held her face in his palms. He looked at her eyes and then lips and again at her eyes as asking for permission

"You already kissed me Arnav Ji... then what's the need to ask permission now?" smiled Khushi looking at Arnav's slightly turned into pink face.

He kissed her with his heart content. Both shared the kiss letting each other to know how much they missed each other, how much they wanted each other, how much they love each other.

Arnav - Khushi ... the inseparable souls. They fight with each other, they scold each other, they hate each other, they can't see each other, they can't bear each other, but still... they can't live without each other, because more than anything... they LOVE EACH OTHER...

Arnav - Khushi ... forever... for eternity...

OS 1

once upon a time on mount jalebi where all the gods frolicked and showed scant feeling for humans, there lived a wondrous goddess called devi maiyya.

since the challenge of uttering four whole syllables was too much to face on an ongoing basis, everyone on mount jalebi, and please don't confuse it with mount olympus or kailash... yeah, as i was saying, everyone on j-hill called her dm.

dm was not fussy, she was creative and really kind, so she allowed the dm appellation to stick and didn't throw fire and brimstone at anyone... gods, goddesses, souls hanging around to be reborn, gnomes, fairies, elves, angels, sprites, minxes, trolls, unicorns, nymphs, even mere mortals she spared.

she preferred to spend her time, all her time in fact, on creating the universe, which was her job, rather than sweat the small stuff... even if goddesses don't really sweat. that's for those hoi polloi down there on earth.

anyway, even though her compensation package did not include a fat bonus or a multi billion dollar severance package, she liked to work with all her heart and head, her dil and dimaag, as it were.

that day she was busy making an ideal mate, for dm deeply believed in ideals, mates, and that thing called love... romance.

i say thing, because dm had no way of knowing what it really was or experiencing it first hand, since love was only available as a feature to humans. the kit included it. but alas none of it for the gods. since they had the elixir of life, manna, amrit... they were not privy to love any more.

well you can't have everything, even if you're a goddess.

sorry, what was i saying? yeah, so dm was making a mate for happy. happy was a hot favourite of dm's, a beautiful young minx who had drifted back to j-hill after a brief stint on planet miraga as a sanka devi. dm had noticed, happy hadn't left all her sanka deviness behind. well sometimes a trace of an existence stays with you, lingering on, embedding. not a bad thing really in this case, dm smiled... it made happy even more fun, that note of sanka... pity, no exact translation in j-hillese for that word.

dm waved her four arms in the air and in seconds a beautiful forearm appeared. dm drew in her breath, that looked great... soon a man took shape. he had dark hair, chocolate brown eyes, a fabulous forehead, dm particularly patted herself on the back for that widow's peak she had designed for him, and oh yes, nice hair cut. he also had a sharp straight nose, finely sculpted perfect lips, great hands, a lithe wiry body and those forearms... where it all began.

dm smiled at him and he smiled back at her sweetly, looking grateful.

dm called happy and said, "happy, my dear one, i have made you a perfect mate, now you must go to earth and do your round there together..."

happy grinned and clapped her hands and said, "a mate?!! oh, dm, you are the best, please may i see him once? just one look, before i go off to earth and meet him there?"

"of course, my dear," said dm kindly, "there he is... i have called him a sweet rakshak for now... we'll name him something later."

"ooo," cooed happy, happily, "a protector, that too a sweet one... let me see..."

happy ran toward the newly made human and peered at him. he smiled at her gently and held out his hand, "hi!" he said politely, and murmured in the sweetest tone, "you are so beautiful, who are you, lovely princess?"

happy gazed at the human stunned. he was perfect to look at and he spoke sweetly. so sweetly. so... no... too.

too sweetly.

and he was too... too...

perfect.

happy could feel something happening to her... her sanka was rising!
happy gawked at the human, she couldn't bear it a second more, she turned away haughtily without saying a word and leapt onto her scooter, she had to catch dm before it was too late.

j-hill was a maze of forgetting and remembering really, a bhoolbhulaiya some called it. after a good spin all over, and making sure she forgot nothing, happy found dm at last. she was sitting with her pet pigeons and eating chane as in chickpeas.

happy rushed to her, almost choking with anxiety, looking most troubled.

"what's the matter, happy?" asked dm, "here, relax... have some chane..."

happy grabbed the whole pack and started wolfing down the goodies, she said breathlessly, "i am sorry, dm, i know you love me and you especially love the balushahis i got you from ishash planet during my existence there, but you have to do something... i can't go to earth with that... that... that... a.. sweet... what the... that asr!"

"asr?" dm frowned, "who? oh you mean that wonderfully perfect, not a single flaw, absurdly handsome, polite sweet human i have created for you?"

"exactly!" happy came in, "absurdly! that's it. he is too perfect, dm, not a single flaw!! hai re..."

dm held up her hand, "no, happy, don't complete that sentence, that's someone else's line, we can't steal other's lines here, we respect copyright... ok, so you're saying..."

happy moaned, "he's also too, ugh, sweet! i can't take sweet mates... they're so... so..."

"sweet?" offered dm, seeing happy floundering around for a word.

"yes, dm..." happy made a woebegone face...

dm said, "ok, let me see how i can improve upon your asr..."

"my asr?" happy grimaced, "nahiiin!" and she sped off.

dm spent a few more millennia, well it might have been three years and two months and two and a half hours also, since exact estimates of time are often hard to get from the powers that be... you know a thing can take, 15, 28, 42, 76, whatever days or years or as i said millennia.

anyway, to cut a long spiel short, dm finally called happy and said, she had done some adjustments. she had eliminated the sweet factor. in fact, she had made sweet taboo for him... no meetha, bas.

she had also upped the opposite taste... bitter... in him.

and to tackle the too perfect issue, she had done something, she asked happy to see if she could spot it.

"spot it?" happy asked, "how?"

it had started to rain in j-hill. dm made a circle in the air with her hand and lightning lit up the sky, thunder was heard...

"how now brown cow..." laughed dm, "perfect condition to check if my engineering has worked... go out in the rain and i am sending him..."

happy loved rain, she ran out... but again to meet that asr... oh no, please don't let him be all smiley and cutesie, she prayed.

she stood in the downpour waiting. he appeared magically from exactly where she wasn't sure and suddenly she was being lifted up, he was whirling away with her... whoa... was he saving her?!

oh no... dm, he is still sweet.

happy was thinking this when he set her down, his hand gripped her shoulder, he stood looking at her as water cascaded all over them.
happy stared at him. what was that? something felt different. his eyes? yeah they were steely, inert, scary almost... not warm and friendly any more.

and his lips? they were no longer perfectly symmetrical. no! they dipped down a little on one side... the right side... as though dm had rubbed a finger across his mouth, tugging an edge out of its confined perfection.

there was a shadow on his cheeks too; a stubble, neat, trimmed, an air of danger about it, none of that smooth good boy cheek. this was bad boy.

happy felt her heart do a sudden lurch. dhakdhak something went. what was that? she must ask dm.

but yes, she had spotted the non-perfect touch... oh those lips.

happy looked at the man again; why was he staring at her? then before she could ask him anything, he gave her one short sharp push.

happy practically flew backward. gosh, the guy was nasty.

she began to grin. yesss... dm, you have made my mate just right. perfect, she thought.

not a sweet rakshak... he is a sexy rakshas. a...s...r. my asr.

dm was watching happy and asr's antics from an invisible perch.

"hmmm," she thought, "looks like the revisions are working... but slight problem, if he is not a nice uncomplicated man, how am i going to make sure they meet? in fact, all that bitterness in him, he is sure to avoid women... love, romance. i made him not even believe in me, so he won't come to me looking for advice... i need someone to be around them, making sure they get the point... come 'ere," dm called out softly...

and out of nowhere came a gust of wind, swirling, swishing, sashaying.

"go!" murmured dm to her special envoy, "go to earth with them, make sure they know their mate, their love is around the moment they are within a two mile radius of each other. and don't be too silent about it... that happy talks so much, she may not hear, and asr is going to be yelling shut up get out samjhi tum often so may miss you if you're too subtle. swirl away long and insistent... and take along a song with you..."

gust of wind said he'd do his best, but two miles might be setting an unrealistic target. since he wasn't a god, he'd go for a hundred feet of each other type of awareness. that mehsoos.

dm said, "fine!" and quickly disappeared. she had to visit a certain raju singh in his dream and get him to write a song. and she had to apply for copyright protection, these days those guys at disney were merrily whacking all her ideas. happily ever after? wasn't that clearly a swiping of hamesha? dm had planted hamesha in happy and asr's love. and there never was a time anyway, 4.35 pm or otherwise when those two were not lovers.

when she returned, she found happy waiting for her, eyes shining. dm decided she'd put that shiny thing on her permanently.

"yes, my child?" she asked, "what's the verdict?"

happy ran and threw her arms around her goddess, "i love you, dm!"

"but how will i know it's him when i meet him on earth?" happy asked.

"you'll know!" smiled devi maiyya, "pata chal jata hai."

"and what will be my name?... his name?" said happy, totally excited now, all set to go to her next existence.

"what's in a name?" said a brit sounding voice from the wings.

dm raised an eyebrow, "oh that will from stratford, i feel like stealing all his lines, if only i understood what they meant..."

"hey devi maiyya, meant nothing, koi matlab nahin..." happy said with a whimsical smile and prepared for her journey.

dm bid both her children farewell, gust of wind rushed along after them. the pages of the calendar fluttered in the draft, dm's eyes fell on the date.

29 may.

what a blessed day, she thought.

"remember, all the world's a stage..." muttered that brit sounding voice.

"oh, will..." said dm eating chane, "maybe it's time to free you."

and so it was that a week later on 6 june, upon a stage a girl called khushi kumari gupta appeared and spotted a man in black called asr. the moment she saw him something in her knew this was it... she whispered "hey dm, raksha karna!" though why she said it she had no idea. seems what dm said was true, pata chal jata hai.

gust of wind got busy and made her trip on her dupatta and she fell into the man's arms. while perched there, her eyes moved to his lips and got stuck.. that pulled down right corner, the imperfection... why did she feel she knew it? dhakdhak.

he got a jolt in his heart, though he didn't think he had one... that sweetness, her eyes, her lips... why did he feel he knew her... she was some tum jaisi ladki... she had turned her back on him and walked away, he would never let her do that again...

it was a strange meeting, and the mystery of it could never be solved...

anyway, khushi kept saying she wanted to love a prince but really it was her rakshas that excited the h out of her. he yelled and screamed and pushed her and pulled her and told her she meant nothing, koi matlab nahin and faraq nahin padta, i hate you dammit.

she was delighted and replied, hum bhi aap se i love you dammit.

and they lived happily ever after.

this was the true story of how asr came to be the khadoos he was, and why khushi never ran away from him nor hollered "redemption!"... as told to the author by the gust of wind.

He moved lazily on the bed, stretching his arms wide and yawning to his heart's content when he felt a weight on his chest. Blinking his eyes periodically, he looked onto the source of this weight when he saw his 4 month old son was sleeping tranquilly on his chest taking a cozy corner there while his teeny legs dangled on the either side of his stomach. He grinned on the sight. Obviously, he was his son's backup plan after his mother who had gone to her Amma's place for a day leaving the son and his handsome dad alone in the whole house.

The previous smile was now replaced by an innocent sulk on this very thought. Well, he was the one who had suggested this idea to her and her parents being parents agreed readily. They all wanted Arsh to be there too but he thought for better. He had refused to let his son go with his mom to give some rest to Khushi with the pretence of spending some alone time and man to man conversations with his son. He exhaled loudly with a smile intact on his face looking at his little ones chubby face with nothing but peace and his mouth opened slightly releasing the stream of drool that ended on his chest skin. This time, the ASR did not get angry. After all, it was his son with such a gullible face which forced his dad's entire anger to go alone with the fresh summer's breeze.

He splashed the water on his dad's face patting on the water again and again and the laughter with vibrated in the washroom warmed Arnav's heart.

"Okay enough buddy. I think we should now wear our cloths." He supported his head and little neck in his large palm and took him out of the water tub wrapping him in a towel. "I wish your mother was here and helped us wearing our cloths like she does every day. But don't worry little buddy, today you take my services." He flicked his nose and Arsh presented him one of his toothless smiles.

"So as I was saying, we need to focus on our facts, our figures aren't that good to convince the clients.." he trailed off looking at his staff member, Mr. Arjun, jabbing out his tongue looking at his direction. He looked at him with an outlandish gaze which he still failed to catch as he was busy doing his deeds. All the staff became quiet. Girls began to giggle looking at each other while the male staff bit their cheeks to gobble down the smiles and laughs.

He tilted his neck downwards and saw Arsh poking his tiny crimson tongue out of his lips to Mr. Arjun , resting on his torso and his head snuggling into his father's crook.

He himself bit back a smile that threatened to erupt any second now but he had an image to maintain. Well, how adorable could this creature get? He though inwardly guffawing in himself.

"Mr. Arjun!" He called him out sternly and he was suddenly taken out of his kidish reverie. "If you're done playing in this meeting room, shall we proceed? You need to give a presentation I suppose so if you.." The occupants present in the room gasped. Arsh emptied the fresh batch of the milk all on his dad's coat, shirt and tie through his mouth.

"Damn." He swore under his breath when he saw a thin sheet of wetness in his son's eyes and realized that he had forgotten to make him burp after feeding him. All were left in awe when he cared less for his destroyed dress, worth many thousands and patted his sons back muttering sweet nothing in the same gibberish language his son speaks, calming his fragile body down. "Shh dude, calm down. Don't cry." He hugged his delicate and small frame to himself and stood up from the chair.

"We'll continue later gentlemen." With his baby in his arms, he rushed to the rest room.

*

"You're being naughty these days buddy, I think it's one of your schemes with your mom to irritate me..Ouchh.." A million dollar punch landed on his cheek with a small fist on taking his mother's name in a bad light. "Ok sorry. You and your mom.." He picked him up from the tub and brought him back in the his rest room in his office to take out a fresh set of cloths and his too. He made his baby change his dress and himself changed too while his phone rang.

"Must be Khushi." His lips curved into a delicious smile.

"Arnavji.."

"Khushi." He sighed, relishing her name and closed his eyes.

"How're you Arnavji? How's Arush? Is he bothering you? You sound tired? I'm coming home."

"No no Khushi, relax. I'm having a really wonderful time with my son." He looked at Arsh who was lying on the couch full of zing. "You stay there for more."

"No Arnavji, I can't stay without you two. Come to pick me up when you're heading to home. I can't wait to see Arsh." She grinned on the line and he could almost imagine her smiling through the phone.

"Stop smiling and see if my son needs anything Arnavji."

"How do you..?"

"Hum aap ko mehsoos kar sakte hain aur pata hai ke aap kya kar rahay hon ge." (I can feel you and know that what you must be doing.) He smiled softly at her reply.

"Ok see you at the evening Khushi. Bye and take care." Saying this, he pecked his screen lightly and went to see a hyper son of his. "Come on buddy. Let's give your mom a surprise. We are heading to home but not without your mamma." Patting his flabby cheeks, he picked him up and taking his car keys, he exited the building. By the time he reached till his car, Arsh was already sleeping with his head resting on Arnav's shoulder creating an appealing sight with light snores.

"Pagal" Arnav muttered and walked to his car to pick a certain woman without whom these two men were absolutely nothing.

Lavanya and Khushi...Khushi and Lavanya.

They had been the best of friends since their school days. They had the same taste in music, liked the same coffee and had crush on the same boys. They were very much like each other in more ways than one... Both were winners.

Until Arnav Singh Raizada happened!

She had been deliciously happy when he had proposed her, but then she realized what it meant... It meant giving up on her dreams of having a full-fledged career and spend the rest of her life, resigned to decorate his home and wait for him every evening.

She was not ready for it. And so she went after what she wanted with single- minded ruthlessness.

And right now, she was driving her brand new BMW, which she had bought with her recent bonus. The car was in auto mode, the music loud and she was sipping her favorite hazelnut cappuccino...Lavanya Kashyap failed to notice a car zoom past her and her coffee spilled over, ruining the black color Vero Moda dress she had sported and her stilettos .

F&#K!

She groaned as she brought the BMW to a stop and took out few Kleenex strips to wipe her dress. As she quickly brushed off the liquid, she grumbled a little about the stain that they would leave behind, when she looked around and took note of the surroundings. Where had she driven to! This was not her normal route! Was it a mere coincidence of fate that her coffee had to spill over in front of the villa of Arnav Singh Raizada!

She cringed at the thought of the person and noticed Khushi Kumari Gupta taking a lazy stroll in the balcony, when her husband came from behind and hugged her.

There was no pulling away, no checking of time. Arnav held her to him as though he could not bear to let her out of his embrace. He kept her hugged to him when his hands went down to gently caress her five months old belly. His hands caressed... possessively, but oh, so tenderly. And Khushi looked supremely content as she lay her cheek over his heart, reveling in the sense of where she would always belong... with Arnav.

"Good morning Jaan" Arnav whispered into her ears softly, "I got your favorite hazelnut cappuccino"

She flashed one of her loveliest smiles that warmed up his insides, "Is Nikhil up?"

Arnav nodded, "Not yet. What were you thinking?"

"Just that the weather looks so pleasant..." she grimaced, "...and its nearly 8 am and you would soon leave us and drive to work"

"Well, fortunately the last part is not true", he said fetching out three tickets from his trousers, "I arranged these last week. I knew our son's summer vacations are starting today and we haven't gone out in a while", he said smilingly, "This is a small gift for you"

Arnav had been heart-broken when his girlfriend of a year, Lavanya Kashyap, had turned down his proposal for marriage in lieu of her career. But not for long! Her best friend, Khushi Gupta had helped him survive though that phase and they had soon fallen in love.

He had been a little nervous to admit his love for a second time, knowing that he didn't want Khushi to compromise on her career for him. But ever since they got married, they had stood by each other's side through thick & thin. When they had their first baby, Khushi had decided to take a break from her work.

And now, they were expecting their second baby.

Life without Khushi, the thought was unbearable. Arnav mused silently.

"Now where are you lost?"

"What do you think?" he spoke, a deep satisfaction gleaming through him.

She blinked harder. He blinked, too. Then he smiled at her...a pure blissful smile that poured into her, right down to her toes. "I have always loved you Khushi", he said. "And I always will."

Seeing all this, Lavanya's heart began to race and she blinked to combat the sudden urge to cry.

That woman in front could have been her, only if she would have said Yes when Arnav had proposed her for marriage, eight years back. But Lavanya always had a mind of her own. Sitting at home and bearing kids were never her priorities, and still looked a far cry. She had taken this decision against her parents and by turning her back on the person she had loved. And right now, at an age of thirty-two, when she is in the apogee of her career...marriage still did not appeal to her.

Her phone beeped, showing a new message, distracting Lavanya from her thoughts.

Her boss had sent her compliments...but for what? As she scrolled down, she realized she had been promoted to Vice President, AMC Corporation.

"Is this really what I wanted?" Lavanya questioned herself as she put on her shades and zoomed her BMW past the villa. Success had never tasted sweeter.
