Take a loaf of italian or french bread. (or any bread, it rarely makes a difference) Cut it in the middle and spread the butter on it. I usually take store bought garlic powder and mix it with softened butter. You can put parmeasan cheese on it if you want to. Not necessary. You can also get really fancy and add other herbs.

That is the simplest type.

Ofcourse you can make it otherway, bake the bread yourself. But this is the easiest!

with chopped garlic i usually grate garlic and mix garlic and butter mix and then spread it on bread then i put some parsley flakes and then i wrap the french bread in the foil and put in oven for 5min at 350F.
