It's always a hard battle for any historical movie to do really well.
But with the right director....read Ashutosh and the right cast....read Hrithik & Ash....this movie is bound to do well.....
and those costumes and sets.... they look truly magical in the trailers.
Not only should it do well...but should have an outstanding sucess.

A wonderful movie by all accounts. True some sequences could have been trimmed to make the story tighter and shorter, and the songs definitely bursts in where they could have been done without - but on the whole, a great movie. It keeps you hooked right till the last scene and more. And Hritik and Aish - well, they ARE Akbar and Jodha.

A must watch 👍🏼

indeed a brilliant piece of cinema. very rarely u come across such aesthetics and such portrayal of romance. the chemistry between H and A was rocking. some scenes, like the sword scene, the final wedding-consumeration scene, the calligraphy scene, the night at her Mayka when they sleep behind the parda, Jodha's eyes on akbars bare body ... the feeling of longing in her eyes ... the subtle yet fiery eye-locking sessions, everything was brilliant. H and A have given the finest performances of their career.

The sets were brilliant, the costumes were breath taking, the jewelery was unbelievable and the direction was PERFECT.

Though the initial promos gave me a weak impression of hrithik as Akbar, but after seeing the movie i am completely convinced and believe no one could have done it better. his anger, his ghussa at times, and his royal elegance was a masterpiece very few people can bring.

the only drawback was the length of the movie. i think they could have cut it down a bit. some scenes were long enough to bore you.

All said, i would give this movie a 4.5/5 and recommend every movie lover to watch it. It is a visual treat which brings with it a sense of serenity and a feeling of true romance.

Go Watch It !!!!!!!

JA is what it is cuz of Hrithik Ash - no 1 lead pair of Bollywood. Ash looks her best since HDDCS. And need I say anything about Hrithik?

Best thing about the movie- perfect casting, sets, costumes, jewelry

Best scene - Azeem o Sheshenshah picturization - awe inspiring
Second best scene - husband wife swordfight. Sheer brainwave on director's part!

Most touching - Jodha handing arti to clueless Akbar and the sindoor part that follows

Most romantic - the subtle (or not so subtle?) sensuality of Lamho ki darmiyan sequence. The chorus/orchestral part is sheer magic, I think just the instrumental version would be better background though Sonu sounded superb

Funniest dialogue - mat bhooliye ki hum aapke suhaag hai

Funniest scene - Jodha peeping during sword practice. Another brainwave!

But to be critical, the movie is good but could have been much better. I understand why ppl are raving about it, but I also understand why some were disappointed.

What I didn't like - Too much historical/political mumbo jumbo for my taste. If I as an Indian who has studied Indian history got a little confused I can understand the reaction of a foreigner.

Jodha Akbar is film which will defenitely go down in history. it is the most beautiful film ever made in recent times, hrithik is just awesome and ash is (surprisingly) very good. i think it is her best performance upto date(the next being provoked). the sets, the visuals, costumes send you in a different world all together, you don't feel as if you exist in the 21st century, it's like being in the 16th century yourself.
it is highly reccomended!!! plzzzzz don't be bogged down by the length, you won't even realize how the time passed by once you engross yourself into the epic.

OK here is my unbiased opnion after watching in theatre

JA is what it is cuz of Hrithik Ash - full marks for the romantic interludes, their greek god like good looks and chemistry. And I cannot help but mention - full marks to Ila Arun - she was MAGNIFICIENT.

Where the movie falls short

Rehman's score is good but should have been better. I know Khwaja and some numbers are popular. But objectively if u compare with the songs of say Saathiya u will notice that the musical intricacy is missing

Lyrics - at times are a let down

Religious/political angles are dragged out too much. That one to one fight was not worthy of a climax in a film like JA - how many would care to watch it again? Also Akbar's speech right after that fight seemed too abrupt a transition, I can understand what the director was trying to do but ...

Underutilization of Hrithik and Ash's dancing skills - now I don't expect Jodha to dance in public but some traditional dance (say for akbar's eyes only?) could have been inserted at some point. I had to say this.

Ok my vote goes for vice versa.....😉

Vaise jodhaa trying to rijhao him with her dancing skills and Akbar trying to rishao him with his sword-swirling skills will also work for me......😆
