Morning sunshine shone through the thin white curtains of Rahul's beach house as Riddhima's eyes slowly opened. She blinked as she remembered she was not in her own room but in the room Rahul had provided for the sisters. As she looked herself in the mirror, last night flashed her mind. She remembered Armaan stroking her hair as she cried on his shoulder. Why had she decided to spill her life story to—to some stranger? All she and Armaan had done was bicker with each other. But when the time came, she told him all her feelings and not Muskaan or Anjali.
After her shower Riddhima decided to quickly thank Armaan for being so kind. She almost smiled when she remembered the consoling words he had said. He seemed so understanding of her pain as if he had known her not for a day but for years.
She stepped out of the room and hurried downstairs to where everyone was already seated for breakfast. Her eyes darted around the room. Muskaan was nowhere to be seen; she was staying in her aunt's house over the night (traditional family stuff, of course, because no one wanted an about-to-be married couple living together before marriage—according to Muskaan's mother, it ruined the special moments of living together after marriage). Anjali was chewing on a piece of toast as Atul kept gazing at her while sipping a cup of tea. Rahul was looking cute as he wore an apron and made some more toast. They all looked up and said hi to Riddhima.
Riddz: Kisi ne Armaan ko dekha hai?
Rahul turned, staring at her in confusion. This was the last person he expected for Riddhima to ask about.
Rahul :Uh, I think who abhi sau raha hai…
Riddz: Kaun se kamre mein?
Anjali looked up, her eyebrows raised as well.
Anjali: Rahul's room.
Rahul: Uh, straight down and to the right.
Riddhima, wearing her outfit in yellow this time, hurried out of the kitchen. Muskaan entered through the doors just at that time, some men with equipment following her.
Muski: Chalo, chalo, chalo! Sab ko marriage hall jaana hai!
Atul looked at Anjali and then at Muskaan.
Atul: Kyun? Sabki shaadi hogi? Anjali, tum mere se kerna, huh?
Anjali: Kyun?
Before Atul answered, Muskaan rolled her eyes.
Muski: Oy, jaldi karo sab! Thyariyan kerni hai!
Anjali: Muski, tu apni shaadi ke liye sab thyariyan khud karegi?
Muski: Aray, khud kahan! Tum log ho na! Riddz, tu kahan ja rahi hai?
Riddhima stopped in her tracks.
Riddz: Woh, uh, Armaan—sau raha hai aur mujhe—"
Muski: Chal teek hai, hum nikalte hain, aur tu ussai le aana! Teek hai?
Riddhima nodded her head as everyone left behind Muskaan for the marriage hall decorations. She followed Rahul's directions and reached the room. She slowly opened the door and found Armaan sprawled across the bed, his comforter tightly hugged against his body. Riddhima giggled as she noticed he looked like a little baby as he slept.
Riddz: Armaan?
Armaan didn't move. Riddhima bent over him, her wet hair touching his face.
Riddz: Armaan?
Armaan flinched, still asleep, as her wet hair brushed his face. Riddhima noticed this and giggled again. She took the end of her hair and tickled his face again. He blinked with his eyes closed.
Ammy: Atul, na ker…
Riddhima giggled again as he turned to his side, pulling the comforter over with him. Riddhima stepped on the other side quickly, laughing silently. She bent down and raised her hair to tickle his face. Just as she reached close, Armaan's eyes popped open. Suddenly, his eye's grew wider.
Ammy: AAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
He screamed, jumping up on the bed. Riddhima, who was laughing, stopped laughing as she realized that under the comforter Armaan was wearing nothing but his boxers. She screamed, along with him, and turned quickly, shutting her eyes close.
Ammy: TUM!
Riddz: TUM KAPDE PEHN KER NAHIN SAU SAKTE THAY!
Ammy: Meri merzi, main chahe jaise bhi saun! TUM YAHAN KYA KER RAHI THI?
Armaan forgot that he was wearing nothing but boxers and walked in front of her, his hands on his hips. Riddhima saw him and shrieked again, making a disgusted face. Armaan grabbed his comforter and pulled it over his body, making a screaming sound as Riddhima ran out of the room.
Riddhima closed the door behind her, shaking her shoulders.
Riddz: CHI! Kapde bhi nahin pehne aate!
She walked to the kitchen and waited until he stepped out about twenty minutes later, dressing in a blue shirt tucked lightly in his blue jeans. He stared at her, his lips pursed. Riddhima looked at him.
Ammy: Tum wahan kya ker rahi thi?
Riddhima rolled her eyes.
Riddz: Tumhe thanks kehne aye thi.
She looked away.
Riddz: Kal raat ke liye…
Armaan's expression turned a bit red as he remembered her hugging him and crying.
Ammy: Oh, tho kaho na!
Riddz: Abhi tho kaha!
Armaan looked up at the ceiling as if in thought.
Ammy: Maine bas itna suna ki tum mujhe thanks kehne aye thi. Kaha tho nahin hai?
Riddhima looked at him. Armaan raised his eyes and smiled, waiting for her to say thanks.
Riddz: Ah, tha—"
Before she said the whole word, music filled the air. Woh Ajnabee from "The Train" began to play, fitting the situation pretty perfectly. Riddhima stared at Armaan confusedly.
Ammy: Phone.
Riddz: Huh?
Armaan raised his eyes and shrugged them towards her hand in which she was clutching her cell phone. Riddhima looked down and turned red, answering it quickly.
Riddz: Hello?
She looked up at Armaan as she heard the voice in the phone. Richie.
Richie: Riddhima? Hello?
Riddhima swallowed.
Riddz: Armaan, woh—Richie ka phone hai—"
Richie: Riddhima? Kise baatein ker rahi ho? Are you there?
Armaan nodded his head as he remembered their conversation about the previous night.
Ammy: Main…uh…
Riddz: Humein abhi jaana hai, marriage hall mein. Main abhi ayee.
Ammy: Right…
Armaan watched Riddhima walk away with the phone. She was wearing a yellow outfit, her color glittering under the sunlight. Her hair looked soft and shiny as they moved behind her back. He shivered when he remembered the tingling of her hair as he slept. The glow in her face as she was inches far away from him on the bed. Her big brown eyes as they looked at him, telling a long story. He turned, surprised at himself. Since when did Armaan Malik bother to look so closely at a girl?
Riddhima held the phone in her hands, not sure what to expect of Richie's phone call.
Richie: I'm sorry, Riddhima.
Riddhima's eyes welled up.
Richie: Mujhe aise nahin chilana chahiye tha, right? Main tho sirf..tumhe khud se door nahin kerna chahta tha.
Riddz: Khud se door? Hum milte kab hain, Richie?
Richie: Oh, come on, yaar! Milein ge na! Ek na ek din tho milein ge na?
Riddhima shook her head as tears came in her eyes.
Riddz: Tumhe mujh per chilane ka koi haq nahin hai, Richie!
Richie: I know, jaan, I know. And I'm sorry. Really.
Riddz: Sorry sab kuch teek nahin ker dhaita.
Richie: I know. Issi liye, tum...tum iss shaadi ke baad apni studies continue ker sakti ho.
Riddz: Kya? Tum-tum serious ho?
Richie: Haan. Lakein ek shart per.
Riddz: Kya?
Richie: Hum dhono saath jayein ge. Poora time akatai bithai ge. Okay?
Riddhima laughed happily.
Riddz: Of course! Oh, Richie, thank you! Ab tho...ab tho mujhe intezaar rahega ki yeh shaadi jaldhi se khatam ho!
After a few more words, they both said bye and Riddhima walked back to Armaan. He was waiting against the door, deep in thouht.
Riddz: Armaan!
Armaan turned, looking at her. She laughed excitedly as she told him Richie's words.
Riddz: Maine kaha tha na, Armaan? Kabhi kabhi woh sabse acha insaan hota hai. Mera Richie ban jaata hai! Woh Richie jise main pyar kerti hoon!
She leapt up and hugged him in excitement, laughing. Armaan looked surprised at the hug. Before he hugged her, she quickly stepped back, her cheeks turning red.
Riddz: Woh, uh, chalein? Hall-decorate kerna hai...
She blushed again as Armaan kept looking at her in the eye.
Ammy: Tum khush ho?
Her expression turned to confusion.
Riddz: Kya?
Ammy: Tum khush ho?
Riddz: Yeh kaisa sawaal hua?
Armaan stared at her, and without a reply, turned and walked to his car. Riddhima frowned as she walked after him.
Riddz: Tum khud ko samajte kya ho, Armaan?
Ammy: WHAT? Tum goom phir ker apna ghussa mujh per kyun nikalti rehti ho?
Riddz: MAIN APNA GHUSSA NAHIN NIKAAL RAHI!
Armaan raised his eyes at her anger and crossed his arms.
Ammy: Acha? Tho phir abhi mujhse pyar ker rahi ho?
Riddhima moved up and grabbed his collar, ready to say something. When she realized her hands were touching his chest, she quickly moved back. Armaan looked at her as she looked away.
Ammy: AB CHALEIN?
Riddhima looked at him, her eyes full of anger. Armaan looked at her with the same glare and sat in the car, honking angrily.
Ammy: Baito, Riddhima.
Riddhima looked around and noticed there was no other ride. She sat in the car and just as she was about to close the door, her other hand accidentally rested on his, which was on the gear shift. She looked up and he looked at her. Armaan stared at her face, looking at her carefully. He felt something in his heart tingle as she touched him. What was this feeling?
