Sneha: Koi baaat nahi Sandhya. Tumhe pata nahi tha.

Sandhya stopped and went to sit on the bed.

Sandhya: Mujhe maaf kar do. Jaane anjaane mein mujhse galti ho gayi. Main nahi chahti thi ki tum us....

Sneha smiled.

Sandhya: Ab hum kya karenge?

Sneha: Kya matlab?

Sandhya: Ab toh voh jaanta hai ki hum dono is yaatra par jaa rahe hain.

Sneha raised her eyebrows.

Sneha: Lekin usne kaha tha ki voh humse shaadi nahi karega.

Sandhya: Toh?

Sneha: Toh......voh humse baat kyon karega?

Sandhya stared blankly at Sneha. Then, her face split into a grin.

Sandhya: Sahi kaha tumne. Voh ab tumse kyon baat karna chahega.....

Sneha looked satisfied

Sandhya: (Worried)Lekin phir bhi. Hum is yaatra par us Dharam aur Veer ko bhulne aaye the.

Sneha: Toh?

Sandhya: Toh agar voh dono is yaatra par aaye hain, toh ab kya faida?

Sneha looked confused.

Sandhya: (Exasperated) Agar har roz unka chehra dekhenge, toh unko kaise bhul paayenge?

Sneha shook her head. Sometimes, Sandhya just didn't understand.

Sneha: Hum vaapas nahi jaayengi.

Sandhya: Lekin-

Sneha: (Interrupting) Agar aaj hum Dharam ka saamna nahi kar paaynege, toh kabhi nahi kar paayenge.

Sandhya opened her mouth and closed it again.

Sneha: (Matter-of-factly) Vaise bhi, yaatra ko beech mein chodna shubh nahi hota hai.

Sandhya: (Outraged) Yaatra abhi shuru bhi nahi hui hai!

Sneha: Lekin hum yahaan aa gaye hai na.

Defeated, Sandhya went to look for Arjun.

Dharam: Ab hum kya karenge?

Veer jumped off the table and put a hand on Dharam's shoulder.

Veer: Jao, aur us se baat karo.

Dharam turned around.

Dharam: Aur agar voh humse baat na karna chahe toh?

Veer raised his eyebrows.

Veer: Kya voh tumse pyaar karti hai?

Dharam: H.....haan....

Veer: Bas! Ab jao, use dhundo aur.

Veer clutched his chest.

Veer: Apne dil ki baat batayo.

Veer pretended to faint on Dharam's shoulder.

Veer: Taaki voh khushi se behosh ho jaaye.

Dharam pushed Veer off his shoulder and started to stride purposefully out of the tent.

Veer: Ruko! Aine mein toh dekh lo. Tumhare chehre par kuch laga hai.

Worried, Dharam ran to the mirror. He frowned. Everything was perfect.

Veer started laughing. Dharam hit Veer on the head and walked out of the tent.

Veer was working hard getting his things ready. He didn't notice Arjun walk upto him and give him a cold look. Arjun folded his arms and waited for Veer to notice him.

After a while, Veer felt that someone was watching him. He raised his head and smiled.

Veer: Kaun ho tum?

Arjun raised his eyebrows and spoke with superiority.

Arjun: Tumhe nahi pata?

Veer: Nahi.

Arjun shook his head.

Arjun: Rajkumar Arjun.

Veer: Vaise tum kahaan ke Rajkumar ho?

Arjun: Sumaina ke Maharaj Sumeshwar ka sabse chota beta hoon main.

Veer's face hardened.

Veer: Accha, toh tum us ghamandi Sherni ke bhai ho. Bolo, kya kaam hai use?

Arjun: Didi ne mujhe yahaan nahi bheja. Main khud aaya hoon.

Veer looked confused.

Arjun: Darasal, main tumse kuch baat karne aaya hoon.

Veer: Kya baat?

Arjun: Meri behen ko tang karna band karo.

Veer stared at Arjun angrily.

Veer: (Icily) Kyon?

Arjun put his hands on his hips and gave Veer a very Sandhya-ish look.

Arjun: (Coldly) Kyonki unhe tang karne ka haq sirf mujhe hi hai.

Veer blinked at Arjun, then a smile spread on his face.

Veer: (Amused) Accha? Bas tumhe hi haq hai?

Arjun: Haan. Toh tum mere kaam mein dakhal mat karna.

Veer's insides started smiling brightly,

Veer: Lekin socho, agar hum dono ghamandi?..mera matlab tumhari behen ko tang karenge toh voh kitni tang ho jaayegi.

Arjun: Haan...yeh to sahi keh rahe ho.

Veer: To kya aaj se hum dost hain?

Veer brought out his hand.

Arjun: (Doubtful) Lekin jab tum unhe tang karoge, toh unhe lage ga ki meri galti hai.

Veer chewed on his lip before replying.

Veer: Toh main use bata dunga, ki meri hi harqat thi.

Arjun smiled and slapped Veer's hand.

Arjun: Aaj se hum dost.

Veer grinned at Arjun.

At that moment Sandhya walked towards Arjun and Veer.

Sandhya: Toh tum yahaan ho Arjun. Main tumhe kab se dhund rahi thi.

Veer: Tumhara bhai bohot samajdaar hai. Bilkul tumhari tarah........

Sandhya raised her eyebrows in surprise.

Veer: Nahi hai.

Sandhya: (Icily) Maine tumse pucha ki tum mere bhai ke bare mein kya sochte ho?

Veer shook his head angrily.

Sandhya: Chalo Arjun. Aise logo ke saath zyaada der rahenge toh-

Arjun: (Interrupting) Aapko jaana hai toh aap jaayo. Main apne naye dost ki madat karunga.

Sandhya started at Arjun. Veer started laughing. Sandhya gave both of them a hurt look and went away in her tent.

Sneha stood on her heals, trying to pluck a delicious mango.

Voice: Hum aapki madat kar sakte hain.

Sneha turned around and saw Dharam's smiling face beaming down at her.

Sneha: Oh....aap....

Sneha turned around again, to avoid Dharam's gaze.

Dharam: Aapko phirse dekh kar hume bohot khushi hui.

Sneha didn't reply.

Dharam: Darasal, hume aapse kuch baat karni thi.

Sneha: Kaisi baat?

Dharam cleared his throat.

Dharam: Zaroori baat. Bohot zaroori baat.

Sneha: Boliye, hum sun rahe hain.

Dharam: Jab hume pata chala ki aapki maa Aryavrathon ko pasand nahi karti hain, tab hum bohot chintit ho gaye.

Sneha plucked a mango, but remained silent.

Dharam: Hum samajh nahi paaye ki hume kya karna chahiye.

Sneha didn't say anything, and Dharam continued.

Dharam: Hum kya karte? Pyaar ka saath dete.....ya pitaji ke samman ka?

Sneha plucked a mango, again.

Dharam: Bohot sochne ke baad humne fesla kiya.

Once again, Sneha plucked a new mango.

Dharam: (Nervously) Aur humara fesla tha ki hum aapse baat kare. Aap humari baat ko samajh rahi hai na?

Once again, there was the *thud* of a mango falling in the basket.

Dharam: Humari majboori hai. Pitaji humari baat kabhi nahi samajh paayenge.

*Thud*

Dharam: (Uneasily) Esa nahi hai ki hum aapko....aapko pasand nahi karte hain. Hum aapko bohot pasand karte hain. Lekin...

This time, Sneha turned around and glared at Dharam fiercly.

Sneha: (Shouting) AGAR PASAND KARTE HAIN TOH SHAADI KYON NAHI KARNA CHAHTE HAIN?!

Dharam stammered.

Dharam: M....main.......main....

Sneha snorted unsympathetically and dumped the basket of mangoes on Dharam's head.

Then, she stalked away from the mango-pulp covered Dharam.

Veer: Kya voh tambu mein jaakar ro rahi hao?

Arjun: Kaun? Didi?! Nahi. Didi kabhi nahi roti hain.

Veer: Toh voh itne der se andar kar kya rahi hai?

Arjun: Zaroor chitr bana rahi hogi.

Veer stopped asking question. After a few minutes, he spoke to Arjun.

Veer: Tum yahin ruko, main abhi aata hoon.

Veer got up to leave.

Arjun: Arrey ruko toh! Mujhe bata toh do, in lakdiyon ko kaise baandhana hai.

Veer sat down again.

Veer: Dekho, yeh rassi lo.

Veer took the rope.

Veer: Aur lakdi ko isse lappet lo.

Veer wound the rope around the sticks.

Veer: Aur aise gaanth baandho.

Veer tied a knot.

Arjun: Bas?

Veer: Bas. Accha, ab main jaayun?

Arjun: Jaayo.

Veer got up and walked to Sandhya's tent.

He peered from the window to see what she was doing.

Arjun was right. She was making a painting using bright and beautiful colours.

Veer: (In his mind) Jab yeh apna muh band rakhti hai toh itni bhi buri nahi lagti hai. Jaise hi iska muh khulta hai, vaise hi mujhe is se nafrat hone lagti hai. Agar yeh hamesha apna muh band rakhe toh shayaad mujhe yeh pasand bhi aa sakti hai.

Veer was lost in his thoughts. It would have been very difficult to bring him back to earth.

He could stand there all day, just staring at Sandhya making painting.

But his dream didn't last all day. In fact, it lasted no more than a few minutes. He was snapped out of his dream by an ear piercing scream.

Scream: (Shouting) AAH!! BACHO! DIDI! MUJHE BACHO!!!

Hearing the scream, Sandhya threw her painting and ran out of her tent.

Veer turned around to see what was wrong.

Sandhya: (Shouting and horrified) ARJUN!
