Thanks everyone 😊 😊

PART 12:

Next morning, Kripa was up early again and stepped out on the beach for a stroll. She was upset with herself for not being able to write much again last night. Each time, she sat down to write, her thoughts would wander off to Angad! In the past, she daydreamed about her books when she was around people; now she daydreamed about Angad when she sat down to write. She was not happy with the way her book was shaping up…….she had erased quite a few chapters and wanted to re-write some again. The negativity around her male character was bothering her…..why couldn't he be more like Angad? She was not sure whether Angad was just a friend…..or was it something else? Why was she craving for his attention and above all, his touch?

Angad woke up as the morning rays filtered through his window. He stretched and popped in his painkillers; the stitches were always sore early in the morning. He changed into a fresh pair of shorts and put on his Hawaiian shirt. He saw Kripa at the beach through his window. She had her arms folded and was lost in her own world.
He loved watching the different expressions on her face; she was probably lost in her book though.

As he walked out, he wondered, "why have our worlds collided like this? Is it fate….or something else? Is it just friendship, or something deeper? Why do I want to be with her when she is not around? Oh well, she is the only one around….may be that's why I feel like that…..but that's not true, even if there was a houseful of people here……I would just want to be with her…..may be Mishti was right, when she said I am getting obsessed with her sister….."

Angad hummed this song, as he walked towards Kripa:

"Collide" by Howie Day :

http://www.amazon.com/Stop-All-World-Now-Howie/dp/B0000BYM3J

The dawn is breaking
A light shining through
You're barely waking
And I'm tangled up in you
Yeah

I'm open, you're closed
Where I follow, you'll go
I worry I won't see your face
Light up again

Even the best fall down sometimes
Even the wrong words seem to rhyme
Out of the doubt that fills my mind
I somehow find
You and I collide

I'm quiet you know
You make a frist impression
I've found I'm scared to know I'm always on your mind

Even the best fall down sometimes
Even the stars refuse to shine
Out of the back you fall in time
I somehow find
You and I collide

Even the best fall down sometimes
Even the wrong words seem to ryhme
Out of the doubt that fills your mind
You finally find
You and I collide

You finally find
You and I collide
You finally find
You and I collide

"Hi! Slept well last night?" he asked her as he buttoned up his shirt.

"OH! You startled me! How are your stitches healing?" she asked

"Great! Can't tell they are there…..small scars like those don't stop me from what I want to do," he smiled.

"That's good, you have a high pain threshold," she added

"Depends on the situation…..for certain things I don't have a threshold at all!" he paused and tried to look into her eyes. Kripa lowered her eyes and kept walking.

"Hey Kripa….apne joote utaaro zara," he ordered

"What? But why?" she asked

"I just want you to feel something…please try it," he literally pushed her down on the sand and pulled her socks and shoes off.

"Angad! I told you I don't like sand on my skin….why are you doing that?" she yelled.

Angad took her feet in his hands and placed them firmly on the slightly wet sand. He started pouring more sand on top of her feet, "just stay there….don't move…..now that you have accepted me as your friend, you have to let me do this….trust me you will love it!"

"Just because I liked your black shell, doesn't mean you are my friend!" she yelled and tried to wiggle out from his strong grip.

Kripa's protests fell on deaf ears; soon her feet were buried in pile of wet sand. Angad shaped the pile into a sand castle and decorated it with different colored shells and rocks from the beach. Kripa felt her feet cool and moist inside the castle. She felt a little tickle as the wet and gritty sand touched her skin. Angad lifted her sweat pants all the way up to her knees and buried her legs in the sand too.

"Angad…are you planning to bury me alive?" she chuckled

"No…I want YOU to be alive….alive to the gifts of nature….I want you to feel this earth with your feet….inhale the fresh scent of this wet sand…..I want you to experience the pleasures of your own backyard, Ms Kripa Sharma….the TURTLENECK GIRL!"

"What? What did you just call me?" Kripa asked with a horrid expression.

"Look at yourself…..why do you hide behind those turtlenecks? What are you trying to hide?"

Kripa felt a little offended and stayed quiet. She realized, she was actually enjoying his hands on her legs, and then suddenly he rubbed his soiled hands on her face.

"AHHH," she gasped as the cool and moist sand touched her warm cheeks. He poured some sand down her neck, through the top of her turtleneck. She felt as if she was losing control over herself; she felt like a little 5-year-old girl once again who enjoyed playing in the sandbox.

"Stop it Angad!…Stop!…." Kripa giggled and almost fell on the beach. She took a fistful of wet sand and threw it on Angad's face. Angad loved the little sand fight with her.

Kripa removed her feet from the castle and said, "I always wanted to build a sand castle…..but I was afraid the waves would always wash it away…..but this looks so beautiful…I don't care if it washes away, at least I could enjoy it while it lasted."

Angad and Kripa looked at each other, knowing very well that their friendship was probably like that sand castle…in a few days it would probably get washed away by the realities of the world. He would be back at "creative advertising" with women drooling all over him; and she would be back with her laptop and books in some remote corner of the city……their paths might never cross again….but they knew that they could never forget this friendship castle and sand-fight!

As they played around with the sand, a huge wave from the ocean knocked them down on the beach. They were drenched with salty water and covered in sand from top to toe. Kripa's glasses floated away with the receding wave. She tried to run for her glasses, "Angad! Please help me get my glasses….I don't even have another pair here….," she kept running and got caught in another wave. She lost her balance and fell down in the water.

Angad ran after her and helped her get up. A soaking Kripa emerged from the ocean water, her hair all over her face….glasses floating away in the water……her clothes sticking to her body. Angad wished he had his camera….he wanted to capture that moment forever…..the cleanliness freak, now covered with sea weed, sand and salty water all over!

Suddenly, Kripa started screaming, "AHHHHH! OUCH!!!!"

Angad noticed the skin of her neck flushed and breaking out into hives.

"Kripa! What happened?" he pulled her out of the water.

Kripa was very restless; she scratched her body through her turtleneck, "Angad…..something is stinging me…..ouch…..ahhhh," she was sobbing.

"Kripa……I think you have been stung by something….take your shirt off!" he yelled.

Kripa shook her head and ran towards the house. She fell down on the sand and kept howling. Her face was flushed and swollen now. Angad noticed live tentacles of some sea creature through the top of her turtleneck.

"Kripa! A jellyfish is stinging you! Their sting is very toxic! Remove your shirt d*** it!! You could die!" He yelled at the top of his lungs.

Kripa crossed her arms in front of her chest, "NO…NO…I can't do that!"

Angad clenched his jaws and fists, "Don't be silly…..remove it right now….or else I will have to do it!"

Kripa knelt down on the beach, her body stinging with the jellyfish toxins on her skin. She was crying loudly and getting listless by the heat of the sun and the poison.

Angad knelt down beside her and took the plunge- HE SHRED HER TURTLENECK with his strong hands. He removed the torn pieces of cloth from her body and threw it away. He picked the jellyfish with his fingers and threw it away in the water. Kripa had her arms folded in front of her chest as she sobbed and buried her head in the sand, feeling ashamed of herself……

Angad lifted her in his arms gently and took her near the ocean water. He rubbed the salty water on her back and front- he remembered from his boy scouts first aid class that salty sea water was the best way to rinse the jellyfish toxins-fresh water was harmful as the toxin would spread further.

Kripa's delicate skin was all flushed; she was still crying, as the sting was unbearable. He carried her in his arms back to the house. She buried her face in the curve of his neck; she did not have the courage to look at him in the eye.
He placed her on the kitchen table and searched the pantries, "do you have vinegar?….Ah…here it is!"

He took some kitchen towels and soaked them in vinegar. Then as gently as he could, he rubbed the soaked towels on her back. The vinegar felt very soothing on her skin; the sting started to fade away as he rubbed the vinegar into her skin with his gentle hands.

"Turn around Kripa," he ordered once he was done with her back.

Kripa's arms were still folded on her chest; she shook her head, "no…I can't do this," she cried.

Angad pulled her arms away with his strong hands and rubbed the vinegar on her chest and tummy. Kripa groaned a little as her skin felt the cool and soothing sensation. She closed her eyes; she was too ashamed of being so exposed in front of another person…and that too a MAN!

After Angad was done, he cupped her face in his hands, "open your eyes Kripa…..how does it feel now? You know I would have never forgiven myself if the poison would have killed your beautiful skin….you are very beautiful Kripa…..don't hide your beauty from the world," he said softly.

She opened her eyes gradually, as tears escaped her eyes……these were not tears of pain…..but tears from the pain that Angad had just washed away……he had not only washed away the poison……he had washed away all those years of shame and guilt that she was trying to hide behind her turtlenecks……she felt liberated today……she was no longer ashamed of herself……she knew Angad was telling her the truth….she could read it in his eyes…..he really meant it when he said she was beautiful…[/i]..

….to be contd….

That was so cute!!! Especially the metaphors about him washing away all the years of shame and their friendship being like a sand castle! Which is actually true, their friendship is going to end when their love starts, can't wait for the next part!! Great job!
