PART 24
The next few days proved to be extremely busy for everyone due to the upcoming exams. Raj and Naina spent all their free time together alright, but not romantically; in fact Raj was spending almost all his time teaching Naina whom he wanted to win the prize of best cadet. Raj felt like he was taking his exams all over again. And to add to the pressure, the next and final trial in the Naveen Singh Ahluwalia case was on July 20th – the day of Naina's first exam. So Raj would have to be in the court and as promised to Naina he would have to do all that he could to see to it that the case is won by them.
The day before the beginning of the exams, an orderly came to Naina's room and handed her a gift.
Orderly- Yeh Capt. Rajveer ne aap ke liye bheja hai.
Naina was surprised and asked the orderly to leave. When she opened the gift she could not control her excitement. In a beautiful, black, leather bound box lay a handsome gold plated pen, encrusted with small diamonds. When she saw the brand name she gasped with shock- Mont Blanc, one of the finest and most expensive pen manufacturing brands in the world. With it was a small handwritten note. It read as:
Dear Naina
Tumhare liye ek chota sa taufa. A good luck present for your exams.
I hope you like it!
Waiting for your response,
Love
Raj
Excitedly she picked up Pooja's phone and dialed Raj's number.
Raj- hello
Naina- Hi raj!
Raj- Pooja? Tumhari aawaaz ko kyaho gaya?
Naina- Oh very funny Raj. Tumhara present mil gaya.
Raj- Liked it?
Naina- Liked it? Loved it! Magar itne expensive present ki kya zaroorat thi? It must have costed so much!
Raj- Tumhare liye aasmaan ke tare bhi kam hai, to yeh pen kya cheez hai.
Naina- (laughing) Raj! Thank you so much!I love you!
Raj- I love you to.
Naina- Accha kal case hai na. to phir case ka….
Raj- Naina, main ne tumhe kitni baar kaha hai kit um case ki fikar mujhpar chod do. Tum bas exams par concentrate karo. Im sure case humare favour mein hi jaayega.
Naina- Yes! Accha ab mein chalti hoon. Bye
Raj- Bye.
The next day was very taxing for Naina. The pressure of Exams as well as the case. Soon after the exam was over, she was waiting for Raj. And when he came, his smiling face said it wall. She ran and hugged him, the happiest person in the world! The remaining exams went terrifically and time passed very fast. Soon the last exam was also over and it was graduation day. Everyone she loved was there- her parents, raj, Riya and even her bhaiya, now his picture on the wall of fame. How proud they all were when she was awarded best cadet! But soon Raj took the mike to speak. This surprised naina as she was not expecting it.
Raj- Good afternoon cadets… oh sorry, our new army officers, faculty and all others present here. Today is, as you all know a very important day in the lives of our new soldiers as well as their loved ones. Our dreams are finally fulfilled and I would like to congratulate you all. But today is also a very important day for me. I can finally declare my love to the whole world!
This was met by gasps from the crowd. Naina had no idea what he was upto.
Raj- 2 years back I met this girl, strong, responsible, smart, pretty, determined and ambitious who also happened to be my best friend's sister. But soon I started getting attracted to her and fell in love with her. To my joy, I found out that even she was in love with me. But we could not bring that to light since she was still a cadet and a cadet-teacher relationship was not allowed. But today she is no longer a cadet. Today she is a soldier. Yes, I am talking about Lt. Naina Singh Ahluwalia. And I can finally bring my love out in the open.
Most of the crowd looked shocked except Riya, Naina's parents (who appeared to know it all), Dr. Shalini, Huda, Yudi, Ali, Pooja and Aalekh, who were beaming with joy. Naina could not believe what was going on. She rose from her chair, numb with shock. Was it really happening? Raj came up to her, went on his knee and gave out his hand.
Raj- Naina Singh Ahluwalia, kya aap Mrs. Naina Singh Shekhawat banogi? Will you marry me?
Naina felt like flying, Her dreams were finally turning to reality. She said a shy "yes" and gave her hand in his. As he pulled her into a tight embrace and as the crowd applauded, she knew that this was just the beginning of her happiness……
