EPISODE-41

That night Kasur had to face a well designed power failure. By 8 in the evening the entire village was taken over by the darkness of the moonless night. First phase of their plan was successfully accomplished. But that was the easiest one. All the difficulties were yet to be faced. Navin's condition wasn't too good yet. He did try to walk with support but he realized that he still needed lots of support from others. The bullet wound was something that still needed a lot of time to heal. But the biggest problem was his dependence was decreasing others' speed as well and his body was not ready to take exertion. He got tired very easily and he had to walk atleast 4 kilometers tonite. Everyone had the same question in the mind whether he would be able to do that or not. Besides they had apprehension that because of their slow speed they might get caught. It was all the more risky now.

But none of them came up with their doubts. They knew that Navin is already becoming cynical because of his lost arm and now if any of them say anything or show their doubt it might worsen the situation. Even Navin understood that problem but the determination on the other faces forced him to keep quiet.

It was 10:45 pm. They had to set out in 15 minutes. They discussed the plan for one last time. Alekh asked for the guns and grenades from Rajveer. He gave 4 grenades to Abdul and kept 2 with himself. Then he handed over a gun each to Rajveer and Naina. He already had one with him.

"Main gun ka kya karoongi?" Naina asked.

"Mujhe shoot mat karna uske baad jo karna ho karna." Alekh snapped. "What's wrong with your logics Naina? You might need it for your safety."

"Mera matlab tha ki mujhe gun chalani nahin aati."

"Jab jaan pe ban aaye na to insaan sab kuch apne aap seekh jaata hai. Agar zaroorat padegi to your hands will automatically reach the trigger to pull it."

Naina kept it with her and they set out for their mission. Abdul came with them to help them support Navin until they reached 2 kilometers from the village boundary. Thereafter, Alekh hugged Abdul and wished him luck. He too wished them and stayed back. That was the place where the blast had to take place. Phase two had intiated and the success of the entire plan rested on the success of this phase. It had to be coordinated perfectly.

They stood at a distance of a few metres from the border. They had hid themselves behind a bunch of trees.

**20 minutes to go for the blasts**

"We still have 20 minutes. I think hamari speed itni bhi buri nahin hai." Rajveer said. Rajveer and Alekh were breathing heavily. Navin also look tired.

"I think so too. Waise tujhe kya lagta hai inki reach se bahar jaane mein hamein kitna waqt lagega." Alekh asked him.

"Jitna kam lage utna acha hai." He dismissed the question without a proper answer.

"Bhaiyya are you tired?"

"Border se sirf itni si doori pe I don't think I can let weariness affect me."

"Waise bhi yeh 20 minutes hai na relax karne ke liye." Alekh said. Suddenly he noticed Naina's eyes closed in a prayer. He found another golden opportunity for pulling her leg.

"Naina sirf prayers se kaam nahin chalega. Meri maan yahin ped ke neeche baith jaa tapasya karne. Kya pata bhagwan tujhse khush ho ke apne private jet mein humein border cross kara de."

"I know you are an atheist... zaroorat nahin hai yaad dilane ki aur na hi itna ghatiya joke crack karne ki."

"Kya yaar Alekh tu bhi kahin bhi shuru ho jaata hai." Rajveer also snapped.

"Exactly ab chup kar jaa warna dushman se pehle Naina ki goli se shaheed ho jaayega tu. Tune hi Naina ke haath mein gun pakdayee thi. Yaad hai na." Navin mocked.

"Correct. So I think we should have 15 minutes of silence now. Aur uske baad hoga.... dhamaaka."

**15 minutes to go for the blasts**

They sat quietly holding each other's hand. They had to go through the most difficult part of the plan now. They all were nervous because they knew that this plan was not foolproof. All they could do was to hope that everything goes according to the plan. Time was ticking away like the countdown of a Time Bomb that was about to explode.

**1 minute to go for the blasts**

"Okay. Just 1 minute to go now. Get up and get ready. We'll need to rush any moment now."

They all stood up. They were all set. The countdown had begun......

BLAST!!!

They turned to see the reaction of the army. Since the blast was distant the sound wasnt too menacing but a chaos was about to begin. Few of the soldiers did try to figure out what had happened. But before they could do anything.....

BLAST!!!

All they could figure out was something is not right. Almost half of them left the post and ran towards the source of the sound. But even before they could step out of the post....

BLAST!!!

That was the third blast in a row. The army people close to the blast site had not been able to stop it. That triggered a fear inside them that possibly their post is being attacked. All of them started running. Though there wasn't another blast but it was more than necessary for them to find out what has happened.

Perfectly the moment they have been looking for. All four of them came out from behind the trees. They found only four men at the post. Rajveer and Alekh shot them making sure they just injure them and not kill them. They were army officials themselves. They respected the men in uniform.... to whichever nation they might belong to. Till then Naina supported Navin and both of them stood behind Rajveer and Alekh. They rushed back and supported Navin to walk. They increased their pace to the maximum possible.

They were at a considerable distance from the post and they hardly needed about 10 minutes to move out of their area and enter their own but their problems apparently were not yet over.

"Stop or I'll shoot." Came a voice from behind.

They freezed.
