Cowardice & Spying

The conversation from previous night came back to her in bits and pieces, as she stood in the steaming shower. She shut it off abruptly to recollect everything but it stopped, she turned the water back on and stood underneath again

Nope!!!

“what did I even say to him? Why would he ask me about noodles?”

She reminded herself that she had to check her phone pictures.

“I know he kissed me, if I went all the way why was I wearing my kurta salwar and only my top buttons were undone

Her head was pounding

She shut the water, walked out dried herself and wore her clothes for work

She checked her Outlook calendar on the phone she had a meeting in 35 minutes, with no Zoom invite

“Hey can we do a Zoom please? I am stuck in traffic” she said

Went to the kitchen, made herself breakfast

The helper had come and gone already, everything looked so tidy

Looking at her phone, she opened the pullout freezer drawer at the bottom, things were out of place and the take out Haldiram noodles were missing

She shut it quick and texted him

“Did u eat my noodles?”

He was in between meetings, Veer was at his desk

He laughed out loud thinking something dirt

“Well… not quite yet”

“Oh shut up”

“Didn’t u just ask me if I did?”

She turned bright red

PRADYUTTTT she texted a scream

“I have it with me I hope to enjoy my lunch”

“Tumhe kaise pata waha thi freezer mein?”

“You drunk confessed last night”

“U didn’t have the decency to disregard?”

“U mean act like none of the confessions happened?”

“AUR kya kaha maine?”

“want to know right now?”

“Never mind don’t bother”

“Call u in a bit” he smiled and sighed

“I am going to work, don’t gloat about the chow mein, it wasn’t an act of bravery” “The very opposite in fact”

“U think ?” he sent a smile

She went to work and spent all day trying to understand how construction contracts are written up, she started her day with a hangover headache ended it pain free after popping pain killers

She asked some nosy curiosity questions

Sohail made a mental mental note of it to inform his boss

He did that evening

“Shes pretty shrewd”

“Yeah? How so?”

“Here is what she wanted to know:”

He listed the 4 or 5 questions he had made a note of

“Did she want to see HUDA approvals, and such?”

“No she was really curious about the validity of sanction plans (construction must be erected within 2 years acc to HUDA otherwise approval stands canceled)

“Are we on the fence or borderline for some? Aren’t we?”

“Umm… yes and no”

“I think we are” Pradyut’s expression was grim

“She doesn’t know that”

“No she does NOW”

“I didn’t tell her which ones they were”

“U can if u want, its legal, we are not building on those lots” Pradyut leaned back and spun his pencil on his desk

“Why do u think she is so curious?”

“I don’t know” Pradyut lied

He wasn’t about to tell his employee that his make believe wife was on a mission to destroy him

“I can tell her some processes and documents are restricted to C-Suite only”

“Don’t”

“Do u really want her to see it?”

“We have nothing to hide” he sighed

“But u know, what if she finds something we should have caught?”

“then we pay the fines, and get reapprovals” he said thoughtfully

“U married her right?” Sohail Virk demanded

“I did, and I am glad she is looking at things with a different set of eyes”

“Huh”

“thanks for keeping me posted man”

“Ur wish is my command” Sohail laughed

Taaruni needs to see this side of him.

🤔 so he already knows that she is looking for dirt on him. I want Taruni to know that he knows what she is up to.

Pia is hell bent on proving that Tara is not good enough. She refuses to see what her brother and parents see.
