Umera Ahmed and all, they are prolific writers. Since, they choose such beautiful concepts, I wanted to read them. I even found a site that has all these Pakistani novels available but all in Urdu. No translations available.

I thought let me first learn to read Urdu. Easier said than done!

Being a desi at heart, one is always on a lookout for stories that you can relate to and connect at a deeper level. Serials and all, are way to live the desi romance vicariously, however, you need good actors. Actors that can emote well.

Like , I have seen many male actors getting to play the brooding men roles, but if you speak less, then your eyes will have to talk more. That talent, most of the recent actors don't have.

Wow! You are a formidable reader! This is what we call passion for language. Kudos.

My pursuit of urdu ended with a one year supplemantary ( complemantory) course in my graduation.

So I have a bus journey story too. My father and I were traveling. Small distance. Some two three hours. We sit in the front seats waiting for the bus to start. There's some argument going on between conductors and drivers as to which bus will leave first. Their own little politics going on. Finally, our bus driver comes and climbs in ready to start the bus.

I am at the window side. Through the window, I see one of the other bus people staring at me. Continuously. I don't make much of it. Because I was sixteen. And by that time, it had sunk in that men have nothing better to do than stare.

The bus is starting, we'll be leaving soon, I think. Finally. It's too hot.

The man is staring and then in a blink of a second he runs to my window and...bump fists the window, the glass smashing with the force! I was surprised, scared, just point blank. Kya hua...kyun hua...

By God's grace, I was safe barring a very tiny scratch on my cheeks, that I was given detto to apply on. But I was shaken and so traumatised. My father was livid. The other passengers were also angry. I should have climbed off that bus, field a complaint or something. But, I had an exam the other day. We had to check in a hotel in few hours. My father was equally shaken. What an incident to happen! The bus staff kept apologizing the entire way but would their apologies meant anything had I been seriously hurt?

The man must have been hurt too. The glass was strong and he hit it with his hand. But he wasn't thinking of the consequences. All that had mattered for him in that moment was how dare this bus start first. And the best way to punish was to punish the customer?

Then you realise how human beings, very sane ones too, are able to hurt or be violent with their own kind.

We all attribute it to the miracle of God. The glass had broken and shattered over all of me but none of the shards pierced any skin.

What a horrible thing to happen! The first thought that came to my mind was, he was a creep, a perverts and perverts don't need reason to act upon their viciousness. But even if he was a regular person,this act of violence shows how much of an impatient and insensitive society we are.

I am happy we got our writer back in one piece.

Happy to report that my homework was finished years back. Google ji told me that karanjis are actually what we call gujhiya in North India. I think it ( gujhiya) is mainly a UP sweet dish/ thing and I made it when I was staying in Bangalore.

I love how you have etched Kirti's character. It is like if there had ever lived a person who had gone through the same experiences as her, then that person would feel and react the same way Kirti does.

The events near the guava tree and frangipani definitely were flirty. A glimpse into Kirti's true nature seems to have charmed Nishit and yet there is Mithila. How does she fit in? She is still his girlfriend? I don't know whether she was never his girlfriend and it was all a misunderstanding or if his relationship with her had ended and she was now just a friend. Only then, his flirty, I'm interested behavior makes sense.

This was a wonderful chapter, GN. I loved the discussions and the merits of China vs India. Had thoughts about it, but don't want to get into them right now. Will be back later if I think of anything else.

You disappointed me Nishith. Bagal mai girlfriend and flirting with another girl! Not suited to you my charistmatic brooding man. But why do we find logic in the matters of heart.

Loving their cute banter, but seems every good thing has an end, Kirti has come back to reality of him having a girlfriend. And in anger we don't think, we justify us. Now he is a girlfriend stealer and random person. Hurt begets hurt. She is safegaurding her heart. What is his motivation to pursue (?) Her.

What Kirti said about not having in depth knowledge, resonated with me. Just a cursory glance at the headlines, and I am happy with affairs of the world. The whole recent political turmoil got me in to thinking about myself. I see around me and find that married ( or not) women are Not expected to have knowledge/ understanding of politics. They are not deemed fit to have a worthy discourse on anything supposedly intelligent. Not to generalize, but I feel we women 'let go' of a lot of things after marriage.

For Kirti, it is her life circumstances and may be lack of stimulating environment which doesn't allow her to delve much into things beyond roti kapda aur makan. That is why she is an extraordinary woman, who holds her own against(?) someone who has the 'luxury'of thought.

Kirti has a polytechnic degree in Computer Science which is a three year Diploma Course in Engineering. She is a Junior Engineer and not a B.Tech engineer.

Now, since she didn't get a campus placement in her college, she was left jobless. Outside job hunting also didn't help much. She would have to look for job in other places now. To be eligible to sit in government job recruiting examinations, the minimum degree one requires is a graduation degree. In most of the cases. So she did a BA to be eligible for these exams.

She had enrolled in a correspondence course of IGNOU. It is an open university that provides you a college as your centre where you can attend counselling classes, go and do practicals, assignments submissions, exams all will happen there. Basically it becomes your college even if you aren't actually a student of that college in a true sense. So, naturally if it is Nishit's college, and she attends the sessions from time to time, she's bound to meet him.

Glad you clarified in detail. I would have otherwise assumed that Junior Engineer is a job title 😘.

It reminds so much of IPK.

But the conclusion was kind of disappointing I felt. Some characters did not get a good closure or was not even shown what happened

Not only IPK. It brings to mind every boss secretary romance drama we have. But IPK was more wholesome?

At first I was very taken with this Turkish drama. First few episodes or so but then gave up on it. Good looking actors. Sizzling chemistry. Not to colour your opinion but... Too much in your face romance? I don't know. I wish things were a little toned down and more subtle. And there would be more meat to the whole plot. Everyday she dresses up, he is bowled over by her beauty... kind of gets repetitive. But that's just my opinion.

I remember sooo many people liking the serial. It was all the rage in those days. People writing fanfics, making videos so it could be just me being fussy. Maybe I gave up too soon and judged too harshly.
