Dedicated to Charmedone22 who wants me to write a story on the movie ‘Ye jawani hai deewani’.

Hearing the alarm bell ring Nandini got up from her bed.She looked at the clock.It was 4.30.
NANDINI:Oh no...morning has arrived so fast.I have to study.Otherwise Maa will scold me.
Nandini went to bathroom ..brushed her teeth..took bath and sat for studies.Her mother Sarla peeped into the room.Seeing her study Sarla left the room smiling.

Nandini sat for break fast.Her younger sister Navya came humming songs.
NANDINI:You are so cool Navya.How are you so cool?

NAVYA:Because I am not a medical student like you.Luckily I am not intelligent or brilliant like you in studies.So Maa did'nt send me for medicine.Otherwise my life would have been boring with just books.Now I am in arts college.So I can relax and enjoy.I can spend hours on selecting dresses,matching accessories and matching lipstick to college.Not like you..you hardly get time.So you wear the first dress you see in your cupboard and wears it to college.So boring.Seriously.But I enjoy my life to the fullest.

Nandini's face became dull.

After college Nandini reached home.She saw Navya dancing to bollywood music.
NANDINI:Here Navya is enjoying and I have to sit and study.
Her phone rang.She picked up the call.
"Hi Nandini dear.I'm Maya".
NANDINI:Wow Maya.Long time.
M:I always think of phoning you.But Navya said you are so busy with studies that you have no time for chatting also.
(Maya is Nandini's school mate.Now Maya and Navya are in same college).
NANDINI:What to do?
M:Don't you feel like relaxing?I mean don't you need some enjoyment?
NANDINI:I am longing for that.
M:Then why don't you join us for our Manali trip?You know we college friends are going to Manali.Only Professor Cabir Dhawan is accompanying us.We will enjoy.

NANDINI:I know.Navya had told me that she is going.I would love to come.But I don't think Maa will give me permission.

M:Why not?It's during the vacation.So classes won't go.You won't have that much to study also.Now don't tell me that you need to spend your vacation by studying.
NANDINI:I hope Maa will permit me to join you all.
M:All the best dear.I will wait for your reply.

Nandini Navya and Sarla sat for dinner.
NANDINI:Maa..can I go with Navya for the Manali trip?
Sarla:Why?You are not in her college.
Navya:But we are allowed to take our family members and friends.

Please let her come with us Maa.Di also needs some enjoyment and it's during vacation.So she does'nt have to bunk classes.
Sarla thought for a moment.Then she stared at Nandini.Nandini got scared.
S:Do you want to go?
Nandini shivered.
S:Tell me.
NANDINI:Ye..Yes.
S:Then go.
Nandini was so excited that she hugged Sarla.Navya too hugged them.

Nandini:Thank you so much Maa.
Sarla smiled.


Manik Malhotra was packing bags.
Neil came near him:Manik...finished packing?
Manik:Yes.
Avni came:Manik..I have cooked food for you.You can take it with you to train.
Manik:No thanks.I can buy food from the railway station .
Avni:But home made food is better than outside food Manik.
Manik:I told you.I don't want.

Bye.
Manik took his bag and left.
Avni was in tears:Manik has not accepted me as his sister in law yet.I am longing to hear him call me bhabhi.

Neil caressed her:Don't cry Avni.One day Manik will accept you as his bhabhi.
AVNI:I am also living with that hope.I can't bear this indifferent nature of Manik.But because of me you also lost your brother.
Neil:Don't blame yourself Avni.
He wiped her tears.


Maya.Rudra,Manik,Ragini,Laksh reached the railway station.They were surprised to see Cabir there.
Maya:Cabir Sir...
Rudra:You came so early.
Cabir smiled:I am your professor...guardian.So I need to come here first.Right?
Laksh:Sir..you are punctual not only in college but also for such leisure trips.
They all smiled.
Ragini murmured:Cabir Sir looks so hot.
Laksh got irritated:Stop it Ragini.
Ragini:Why?Don't I have the right to admire handsome men when you guys admire beauties?
Laksh:Of course yes.But admire my looks.Not Cabir Sir's looks.
Ragini:Oye..why should I admire your looks?Just because by mistake you won the Mr.Sebastian prize don't think that you are handsome.
L:What do you mean by mistake Ragini?
Ragini:Ya..the judges were blind.That's why they found you perfect for Mr.Sebastian pageant.

Laksh got irritated:Ragini..you...
Ragini laughed.
Ragini:But remember I was Miss.Sebastian college.No one can beat my looks.So I can judge others' looks.
Again she laughed.
Laksh got mesmerised by her beautiful laughter.
Maya:Hey..guys..guess what?With Navya, Nandini also is coming.
They were surprised.
Manik:That chashmish?
Maya:Yes exactly.
Rudra:That's cool.So this trip will be like our school reunion.
Ragini:Who is Nandini?
Maya:Nandini is Navya's sister.
Laksh:Have you guys met her?
Manik:Of course.We know her very well.She was our school mate.She was a book worm unlike us.So as expected she joined Medical college.We are going to meet her after a long time.God knows how she looks like now.
Suddenly Navya arrived there with Nandini.
Navya:Hi guys.
Navya hugged all of them.
Manik:Hi Nandini..do you remember me?

Nandini:Of course yes.
Manik:You are telling lie,
NANDINI:No.Why should I lie?
Manik:Then tell me who I am?
NANDINI:You are Manik Malhotra..the one who was always punished by the teachers for not doing homework.So you always sat on the back bench.Am I right?

Manik was embarrassed.He nodded:Yes.

All of them laughed.Manik became shy.Nandini smiled.
Rudra:You look the same Nandini.
Manik:Same glasses.Why did'nt you try for a make over?
Nandini became dull.

Navya:There is no beauty parlour near by.That's why.
They all laughed.
Maya:Ok Nandini..meet our friends.This is Ragini..this is Laksh.
Raglak:Hi Nandini.Nice to meet you.
NANDINI:Nice to meet you both.

While they all were chatting Navya went near Cabir who was standing at a corner.
Navya:Good morning Cabir Sir...
Cabir :Good morning Navya.
Navya embraced him all of a sudden.Cabir was shocked.
He pushed her angrily:What are you doing?Don't you know that it's a public place?
Navya:So that's your problem.So shy you are.Then let's go to a private area.
Cabir got angry:Are you not ashamed to talk to me like this shameless girl?I am your professor.

Navya:But I love you Sir.Pyar kiya to darna kya..have you not heard it?That's what happening with me.

Cabir :Oh..this girl...
Navya:You know why I came for this trip?To be with you.
Cabir was stunned.
Navya gave him flying kiss.Cabir became uncomfortable.Navya ran away laughing.
Cabir :Disgusting.

Rudra:Why this train is not coming?I feel so hungry.Guess I need to go to the canteen.
Maya:No need Rudra.I know that you will cry for food like a silly KG kid.So I brought sandwich for you.
She took out sandwich for him.
Rudra:You know me very well Maya.Cool.
Maya:You are my best friend.So I need to know you.
Rudra:That's nice.But guess this is vegetarian sandwich.I don't like it.
Maya:You stupid.When i give you something instead of thanking me you are rejecting it finding reasons?Anyways you only told me that I know you very well.So i may be knowing your tastes.Right?So I prepared chicken sandwich for you.
Rudra:Really?Wow.Thank you so much Maya.
He embraced her.She blushed.
He was about to take it from her.
Maya:One second.You wash your hands.
Rudra:No Maya.I have no patience for that.

Maya:You are so unhygienic.I won't allow you to eat with these dirty hands.
Rudra:So you want me to starve to death?

Maya:No.I will feed you.
Rudra smiled.
She washed her hands and started feeding him.He was eating like an innocent kid.Maya looked at him admiring his cuteness.

The train arrived.All of them got inside hurriedly. Nandini could'nt get inside in that rush.Manik who got inside the train looked at her.
Manik:Come inside Nandini..
She walked towards the train.The train started moving.She got scared.
NANDINI:Oh God..how will I get inside?
Manik:Don't be scared.
He extended his hand towards her.She held it.He pulled her insid e with full force.She fell on his chest.She lifted her face and looked at his eyes.They shared an eye lock.

All were sitting together.
Ragini:So boring...let us chat.
Laksh:Good idea.
Rudra:What is the topic?
Manik:How about love?
Maya:Wow...there is no topic better than this.
Navya:Seniors first.So let us start with Cabir Sir.Sir...do you love anyone?
Navya gave him a naughty smile.
Cabir got irritated:No.
Navya showed him a puppy face.
Navya:Have you ever been in love?
Cabir:No.
Ragini:That's so sad that though you are handsome you did'nt find your true love yet.
Navya:True love is in front of you Sir.You just have to see it.
Cabir was irritated.
Maya:Navya..how do you know that true love is in front of Cabir sir?
Navya stammered:I..I simply guessed.
Ragini:Cabir Sir..what kind of girl friend do you want?I am sure that you want a girl friend like me as I am very beautiful.Since you are very handsome you may be wanting the most beautiful girl as your girl friend.Right?
Laksh got very irritated and murmured:Ragini..I told you.Stop flirting with Cabir Sir.
Ragini:You keep quiet Laksh.Don't order me.You are talking as if I am your girl friend.

Laksh did not know how to react.
Navya got irritated:We all agree that Cabir Sir is very handsome.But that does'nt mean that he needs a beauty queen.True love is not based on good looks.
Maya:That is true.True love has nothing to do with looks.
Rudra:How do you know that Maya?Have you ever been in true love?
Maya looked at him deeply and said in her mind:How can I tell you that I love you truly?Why don't you understand my love from my eyes Rudra?
Maya:What do you think Rudra?
Rudra:My bestie Maya can't have boy friends.
They both giggled.

Ragini:Navya..why are you staring at me as if you are going to eat me up?
Navya:Because you are a....
Cabir was boiling with anger.

Cabir shouted:Stop it.Are you guys not ashamed to interview your professor on love?
Manik:Why are you angry sir?Is love that bad?Your subject is English literature.You teach about love.
Cabir:I am not saying that falling in love is bad.I teach romantic literature also.But I don't want any ugly arguments regarding love.I need peace of mind.Anyways this is your excursion.Enjoy.Let me go to the washroom.
Cabir left from there.
Nandini:You guys really hurt Cabirji.That was wrong.
Manik:Chashmish has started talking like an aunty.
Everybody laughed.Nandini was embarrassed.
Rudra:We admit that our talk did hurt Cabir Sir.But we did'nt have any intention to hurt him.
Laksh:Yes and we are really sorry for that.
Ragini:Anyways let us chat till he comes back.Have you guys ever kissed anyone?Manik...you tell.You are a good singer.So you are quite popular in college.All girls are after you.
Manik:Ragini..why don't you admit that you are one among the girls who are mad about the rockstar Manik.
Ragini blushed.Laksh was irritated:Crazy.
Nandini stared at Ragini.
Ragini:Tell Manik..have you ever kissed anyone?
Nandini's heart beat restlessly to know his answer.
Manik:To be frank no.
Ragini:You are telling lie.How can you resist kissing the beautiful girls around you?
Manik was shy:I am telling the truth.I never got the chance to kiss any girl.

Ragini:That means if you get a chance you will kiss?
Everybody laughed while Manik was shy.
Nandini thought:These people are crazy.
Navya:Maya..have you kissed anyone?
Maya blushed.

Flash back....

Once Rudra got drunk and was not in senses.She struggled hard to take him to his house and made him lie on the bed.

When she was about to go he held her hand:Don't go leaving me alone.I am always alone.My parents have no time for me.They bother only about career and partying.
Maya felt sad for him as even now no one was there at his house.
She caressed his head:I am not leaving you alone Rudra.
He fell asleep.She kissed his forehead.

Present....

Manik:Why are you thinking this much Maya?Have you kissed anyone?
Rudra:Maya is thinking whose name to be pointed at.Because she has kissed only her favourite actors in her dreams.
Everyone laughed.Maya smiled.
Manik:Nandini..have you kissed anyone?
Nandini:No.

Manik:Lie.

Navya:Manik..Nandini di is right.She has not kissed anyone.
Manik:She must have kissed her books for sure.

Everyone laughed.Nandini smiled.
Laksh:Rudra..have you kissed anyone?
Rudra:I have no girl friend.So no chance of kissing.
Manik:Lie.Everyday Rudra kisses his liquor bottles.
Everybody laughed while Rudra was embarrassed.
Maya:Navya..have you kissed anyone?
Navya thought:Since Nandini di is here I can't talk openly.I would have kissed if the person I love..My Cabir Sir had accepted me.
Navya:No no.I am too innocent to kiss a guy.
Everybody laughed.Nandini smiled.
Navya:Laksh...what about you?
Ragini:Laksh to kiss a girl?No way.
Laksh:How can you be so sure about it?
Rag:Because you always advise me not to flirt with others.A saint like you can't kiss anyone.
Laksh smiled.
Cabir came back.
Cabir:Still discussing about love?
Rudra:No Sir.We stopped it.
Cabir:Then what is the new topic?I will also join you guys.
All were feeling uncomfortable as they can't involve Cabir in the discussion of kissing.
Navya:We were talking about beauty.
Ragini:Yes..about my beauty.
Navya:Not your beauty.Nature's beauty.
Cabir:Nature's beauty.Nice.Interesting.
Laksh:We all are very sorry for hurting you with our stupid discussions.
They all said:Sorry Sir.
Cabir:No need of sorry.I know this age is into such discussions.It's normal.
They smiled.
They all chatted and enjoyed.

They reached Manali.They went to the small house they rented.
Cabir:No boy should enter girl's room.
Rudra:Why Sir?
Manik:You don't trust us?
Cabir looked at Navya:No.I don't trust girls.
All girls opened their mouth in O shape.All the men laughed.
Cabir:Sorry guys.I was just joking.It's better and safe to keep a distance between girls and boys in this age.That's why.
Rudra:Sir..we all are friends.So we know where to keep the line.Pleast trust us.
Maya:Yes Sir..
Laksh:We promise that we don't do anything to get you ashamed of us.
Cabir:Very good.Anyways get freshen up.We will go out for having lunch.
Navya winked at Cabir.
Cabir:Girls are impossible.
Maya:Sir...again why are you talking like that?
Cabir:Sorry Maya.I did'nt mean you.
Ragini:Then did you mean me Sir?
Laksh:Obviously Cabir Sir meant Ragini only.Better you change yourself Ragini.
Rag:But what did I do?

Cabir saw Navya giggling silently and he got irritated.
Cabir:Laksh Ragini..stop arguing.I did'nt mean Ragini.
Ragini smiled:See...Sir too confirmed that he is not talking about me.
Laksh:If it is not you then who else?Because only you are not trust worthy among the girls.Other girls are innocent.
Navya:Yes...We all are very innocent.
Cabir stared at Navya.Navya felt like laughing.
Cabir:Some girls look innocent but they are not innocent.
Manik looked at Nandini.Nandini sweated.
Nandini:Why are you staring at me?
Manik:Because you are the most innocent looking girl.So is Cabir sir talking about you?
Nandini became restless:No no.
Cabir:Manik..leave Nandini.Poor girl.
Manik smiled:So Nandini is not that girl.Then who is that girl?
Navya got tensed.
Cabir:I was talking about some girls generally.
Navya was relieved.
All got busy while Navya went after Cabir.
Navya:Thank you sir for saving my image.That means you have a soft corner for me.

Cabir:How are you so sure about it?

Navya:Otherwise you would not have saved my image.

Cabir:Stop it.It's not because of any soft corner,It's to avoid a fight between my students.If I expose you your own friends and sister may feel awkward to mingle with you.
Navya became dull.

Suddenly she smiled.
Navya:When you are angry you so handsome Sir.
Cabir went mad:There is no use of talking to you.
Cabir walked away.Navya laughed:Poor guy.
Navya:Who cares?I will make your opinion about me change.
She smiled.


They all got ready and went to a restaurant to have food.
They ordered food.
Nandini was eating slowly while others were eating like crazy.
Manik noticed it.Manik:Hey Nandini..why are you hesitating to eat?
Nandini:Nothing like that.

Manik:Then why are you looking so dull?
Nandini:Maa is strict about diet.She does'nt let me have junk food.

Manik:But Navya is eating junk food and enjoying.
Nandini:She eats hiding from Maa going out with you all.
Manik:But you can't do that.Right?But if you don't eat this you will starve.And I am sure that your mom won't want you to starve.And she gave you permission to come for the excursion with us.So she may be knowing that junk food may have to be eaten with us.She won't care.

Nandini:I am a medical student.Junk food is not good for health.
Manik:Eating junk food once in a while is not so dangerous to health dear.So you eat it without tension.Trust me you will enjoy it.Eat fast.Eating food fast is thrilling.Try.

Nandini tried to eat enjoying food.
Manik:How is it?

Nandini:Yummy.
Manik:See..I told you.When you are with us enjoy to the maximum.No restrictions.Ok?

Nandini smiled.

Laksh and Ragini ordered together:Mango shake.

They both were surprised that both ordered for the same thing.

They both smiled.

They were served mango shake.

Ragini:Mango shake is so tasty.It is my favourite.

Laksh:It is my favourite too.

Ragini:How strange!We both are so different from each other.But still when it comes to our favourite drink we are same.

Laksh:Right.

Ragini was drinking mango shake.

Laksh smiled observing Ragini drink mango shake.

He thought:You are so cute Ragini.Though we both are different personalities somewhere my heart is connected to yours.That’s why our taste is similar.

After eating Maya enjoyed eating rasa gulla.

Rudra took a liquor bottle and started drinking.Maya stared at him.

Maya:After lunch people have soft drinks or sweet.But you are having alcohol.Shame Rudra.

Rudra:You know Maya..for me this is desert.

Maya:Ok..then enjoy your desert.

Rudra was drinking again.

Rudra:Why does it taste different?

Maya:Because I replaced your liquor bottle with coco cola.

Rudra was shocked:What?

Maya smirked:Yes Rudra.It is not your favourite alcohol.

Rudra:Oh Maya…being my best friend instead of caring for my happiness you spoiled my mood.

Maya:I am your best friend.So I care for your happiness.That’s why I did this Rudra.Good health is our happiness.This alcohol will spoil your health ans snatch your happiness.That’s why I put a control on it.Understand Rudra..as a friend I will only wish for your best.

Rudra:I am sorry Maya.

Maya:It’s ok Rudra.

Cabir ordered for orange juice.Navya ordered for the same juice seeing that.
"Madam...orange is over".
Navya:Oh no.I really needed it.
Cabir:It's ok.You can share mine.
Navya:Really?
Cabir smiled:Yes.
They both drank juice from the same glass.

Suddenly Navya realized that it was only her imagination and got disappointed.
Cabir gave her orange juice to her:Seems that you are desperate to have orange juice.Take mine.I have not drunk it.So don't worry.
Navya blushed:You are so caring.Even you have sipped it I have no problem as I am willing to share anything with you.
Cabir got irritated:You are sick.
Keeping the juice there he left.

All went out for sight seeing.
They saw bride and bride groom along with others who were dancing around them.
Nandini smiled:They are looking so beautiful.
Manik:On the wedding day they will look good.But wedding and married life are not beautiful.
NANDINI:Why are you saying like that?Marriage is a beautiful institution.
Manik:I don't think so.
Manik walked away.
Maya:Manik is allergic to the concept of marriage.
Nandini:But why?

Poor Nandini has to study 24/7
