“U know it” he hissed, turning into the open gates

Ved came running and R&B braked hard

“where is the new guy?” he yelled

Ran to pick up his son

“Sirjee who andar Sid ke liye icecream nikalne le gaye”

“U hired Babu and he cant do the one job he is entrusted with” he accused II

“I will just turn around and go back to Rohini” she warned going in

“Amma you said if I came home last nite I could go to the pool party, I told Dad, and now u don’t want me to go” nivi was furious

“Why do u need me? U have him so just ask him” she huffed walking inside

“Dad kidhar hain?” she demanded to Babu

“Sir oopar so rahe saayad” he mumbled

“Prakash aur Omi se kaha Sam didike ghar who dono picnic coolers lautaane ko”

“Aaj le jaana bhool gaye, Sir subah chale gaye bitiya ko laane (Sahana) hamey kahe hi nahi” babu smiledsheepishly

“Didi ko zaroorat thi bhayya unke kuch office ka picnic hai”

“amma why cant u trust me? Dad trusts me?”

“Ida paar don’t push it” "I am already pissed at ur Dad, I am tired and hungry and my hair is still wet after the oil bath, he rushed me into coming back" she growled waving a finger

R&B appeared with Ved in his arms

“Aap ek ko lekar andar aa gaye who hamari gaadi ke saamne bhaaga hai”

“sorry sir jee”

“Mahavir aap please dono par nazar rakhen”R&B begged

“Sir hum chhat se kapde utaarne gaye”

“Did u ask Mavvy Uncle where he put ur air pod?” II asked Nivi sternly

“Umm.. no… if I cant go to the pool party why do I need those shitty airpods” Nivi sulked

“Ida paar ivala” II yelled at R&B

He waltzed back in

“she is out of control”

“Nivi?”

“U SAID ITS OK. She says its not”

“Yes I did” Ii began rinsing off veggies

“Mahavir lunch bana liye aap?”

“Nahi bhabhiji Bauji ne kuch kaha nahi”

It was after 3 PM

“Just do pizza”

“Pizaaaaaaaa” the boys screamed

“No, three days ina row?”

“U just cooked at Rohini”

“Gusse mein bhaagi hai oopar?” Ranjan laughed

“They all have their Dad’s temper”

“UR SON makes me angry” she huffed

“Bulayin jara” he urged

Mavvy ran up to bring R&B

“how are u? Did u have a goodnap?”

“Kis wastey phad laaya isnu?”

“Umm”

“See. He has no answer. He neverhas” II goaded her FIL

“Ruala payeya” Ranjan mumbled

“Dad khaane mein kya lenge?”

“Tu ren de puttar pizza karange así”

“thank u” R&B nodded bowing

“No, Dad I am making sambar andaloo curry”

“Jee khush kar ditta” he sat downat the kitchen table and stared at Sid licking his ice cream

“Dadu Nu de jara” he begged

He got a empty licked off spoon

He laughed heartily

“Le jaa kahin ghooman waste” he ordered his son

“sure” R&B nodded

“Laayin pakdayin Mundey nu” he reached for Ved

“Gudiya kitthe”

“At Amma Appa’s” she said smugly

“Oye hoye… isko chhod aati uske badle” he laughed pointing to R&B

“They didn’t want him” she laughed openly

R&B’s eyes glittered devilishly at being trolled like that

Mujhe aisa kyun lag raha hai ki II has to pay hard for her stunt..!!😉

He watched her align the jasmine string in her hair as she watched her sons chase Ranjan in the backyard

“Amma cam we get a pool?” Ved begged her tugging at her pallu

“Adu onnu daan da baaki veetla”(thats the only catastrophe we don’t have in this house)

The dogs nibbled at her feet and looked up at her longingly

She dropped some grains of plain ghee dal rice on the tiled floor

They licked it and looked up again

“I will have to start cooking for you too, poda” she scolded

Their tails slumped and they sat by her with a whine

“This whole house is filled with draamebaz” she hissed throwing more food

“Amma cam I feed the goggie?

“yes raja u feed the goggie Amma will feed you, who will feed Amma?” she shouted

R&B chuckled as he leaned on the door jamb hands tucked in his pocket

“I LIVE WITH SAVAGES” Nivi screamed from her bedroom back window

II almost dropped her bowl

R&B straightened up and walked over and turned around to look back up

“GOD I HATE HER” Nivi shouted

“Whats going on?” he asked in hisusual lazy drawl

“I HATE AMMA”

“Amma Mimika is oood (rude)” Sidsupplied

“Solluda, louda sollu” she urged her boys

She refused to turn around and look up at her daughter and encourage the tantrum

“Nivi, come down pleez”

“Dad can I PLEEEZ go to the pool party?”she shrieked

He looked at his wife

“WHY are you looking at me? She is already ready to shell me with a rocket launcher” II shouted in despair

“Nivi… down please”

“I KNOW IT, u cant even take your own decisions you are HER puppet” Nivi screamed slammed her window shut

The dogs began to bark startled,and just ran around the back yard

The boys chased the dogs

R&B walked inside slowly, he was totally unaffected by all drama

Only SHE could get him livid and murderous, the kids only got the cuddly teddy bear all the freaking time

II stomped back into the kitchen mumbling and washed her hands off, and wiped the boys’ mouth

“Dadu will pour you juice and give u a cookie, po da”

“Amma cam we go to Sam Athai’s house?” sid asked

“WE ennada?”

“Me Dadu and see” Ved changed his brother’s gender

“Oh SHEE ya… OK OK” she laughed spontaneously nodding at the humor

R&B felt a stir inside, she was utterly gorgeous he thought. Unassuming and feisty and tyrannical

He had returned two days ago from Paris and they had been arguing or had been too tired

Appa, Dad’s Doc appointment, Nivi’s never ending teen tantrums, the boys…. He wanted to whisk her away and keep her locked up in a remote French island

He could smell her jasmine and coconut oil from miles away..

Ranjan grinned and extended his arms “dadu can seee come?” Sid asked

“Haanji puttar, Gudiya nu ve lekejaayenge” he laughed hysterically picking up the Gudiya Ved

“I HATE HER she told you I cant go” Nivi was downstairs

“Can u tell me whats going on?”II heard R&B

She loaded the dishwasher and walked by father daughter ignoring them totally

“II” he called

She didn’t pause walking toward the grand staircase.

“Why do you want her all the time? She manipulates you DADD” Nivi declared what she thot was a major discovery

R&B smirked “is that so”

“DON’T U see, if she was not here you will LOVE Greg, SHE made Greg the villain”

“ADI PAAVI” II scowled from the stairs going up

“DON’T LIE Amma” Nivi chased her

R&B chased Nivi

“I don’t care what u think I am going to go lay down”

“U don’t even work full time why are u tired?” Nivi had a mouth on her

“Nivi… that’s enough” R&B was stern

Ii didn’t respond

Nivi looked apologetic and ashamed, but being a teen she would never apologize

“Can u apologize?” he ordered

“TO HER? For what? For running mydate with friends?”

“NIVI I was going to change my mind, DON’T blow it” he hissed

“Daddy daddy daddy, pleez” “Pleez daddy” she chased him to the balcony

Ii was in the master bath

“Go apologize” he said calmly

Nivi stood in the bathroom doorway “I am SORRY poruma?”

II glared at her daughter through the reflection, Nivi did not make eye contact of course

She ran to her Dad and hugged him like a 3 year old

“PLEEEEZ Daddy”

“I will ask Dadu to drop u and talk to the friend’s Dad”

“NOOOOOOOOOO Dadu talks in Punjabi”

“Soo?”

II listened, her blood vessels about to explode

“Dad I promise I will FT every 20 minutes” she begged

“An adult is going to chat first sweetheart,if u want to go”

“Can I go pack my duffel bag?”

“Umm yeah” he said picking up his tome

II went to bed her face flaming with anger her body clenched

She loved a good fight, how could she sleep?

She texted R&B

“HERE u go” “Here is the swimsuit she got from Dior last week”

PING… she felt her anger cool down a bit and her body relaxed

He didn’t budge from the swing

10 mins… 20 mins….

She got off the bed hissing

“Did u check ur phone?” she asked politely

“Yeah” he said

“So she can go?”

Nivi appeared

“I know what u are doing, u are plotting to ruin my life”

“Let me go drop u” he told his daughter

“U should stay with her and swim”II said gleefully

“DADDYYY NOOOOO” Nivi shouted

“I am not” he reassured his daughter

II went back to bed and began seething again
