A Wimp & a protector

He did not have her email ID he had the generic consulting email He couldn't express condolence on that one. The number at the bottom of her business card was of her desk

She had walked away unperturbed after announcing she had lost her husband in a domestic counter terrorism event. Her face haunted him that evening

There was a certain calmness about her. She was relaxed and sincere when she spoke, she was unassuming and optimistic

He had spent so many years in martyrdom, he actually did not know there was a way out of this cemetery anymore.

Like he could not see anything beyond his own feelings of hurt and pain.

Miss Saran? Mrs Saran? What did she know about being dumped. I am entitled to feel anger for Charu and self pity for myself

I should have not asked her anything. I didn't need to know about if and how she was happy.

The nagging feeling that she must see him as a defeated wimp continued to bother him

He met Samidha two days later for the first of 3 part review of the health of his business

He followed the assistant as he took the tea tray in, he wasn't sure why

She was bent over her laptop, fingering her braid

Charu's long serpentine braid suddenly came into his mind's vision

He shut the door and walked back to Rohan

"I don't need protecting she smiled peeving him as he led her to the lobby

"When you have the other numbers ready you can come get the incorporation documents from my place if u like, there is not going to be any smoking gun he said flatly

He met her at his favorite Khan Market pub, Public Affair. Crowded and Noisy it was atypical Friday evening with standing room only

Laughter and tinkling sounds of silverware and glasses fought for ear space with all the chatter and cheering, multiple screens played soccer and hockey games on the bar wall

Alok and Gursimran and him dug the Peruvian food so they made it a point to eat once a month if not more

They ordered yellow fin Tuna and spicy salmon ceviche and a pint of house beer

Gur noticed her jostling her way in as she took off her sun glasses her gaze disoriented

She wore capri jeans and a simple lacy white sleeveless blouse with a plunging neckline and the same frenchbraid

Her hair was too short for it so the braid barely went down her back wisps of loose curls framed her face

Her eyes scanned as she walked over to the bar "Glass of white she smiled

The bar tender asked her something she waved her arm towards the door the hand that held her sun glasses, it fell

A guy sitting next to her picked it up and handed it to her

He dragged his stool closer as she stiffened

Avyaan looked away trying not to interfere

Maybe she was here to see him. None of my business

Gur's girlfriend Sage arrived and the men began chatting

After a while when Avyaan stole a glance he found the man almost leaning on Samidha as she jumped off her stool and grabbed her cross body bag off the counter

Avyaan set his drink down and walked over

She saw him and smiled nervously

"Ooohh! I LOVE threesomes the man slurred

A giant beard and earrings he looked like a groupie

"May I have another pint please? Avyaan pretended to not care

"My arm COULD actually span your entire waist he blabbed reaching for Samidha as she edged out falling on Avyaan

"Go to hell Samidha smacked him with her purse, he held on to the strap and yanked her

She looked shocked

Avyaan punched the man without waiting for Samidha's approval

A solid punch between his eyes and shook his throbbing fist. A melee ensued the pub's security surrounded the drunk and dragged him off

Men and women gawked as they told themselves "Its all cool

She walked towards the exit as Avyaan followed her

They both crashed into Mervyn at the door

"Hey? Where are u going Sam?" he hugged Samidha

"U shud show up before ur date, if you plan on meeting at a pub" Avyaan handed some unsolicited advice😆

"Will do Mervyn"😳 nodded apologetically

"Some ass---- Samidha narrated as a fewer people gawked now

"Thanks man! Mervyn and Avyaan shook hands or almost... as Avyaan winced in pain

"I used it to punch him Avyaan smiled wryly. A waiter brought him a bag of ice around then...

Every line to read was a pleasure. This story is by far the most introspective from a man's POV. I absolutely love that .
It feels like you can sympathize more now with his current state of being.

TRUe kalpana.all our other stories had more portions for the female lead.This one is an exception!😊

Even simple lines like he stole a glance at her' is more revealing of him so to say. This aspect of your story telling is also mighty engaging and markedly different in your approach.

I wanted to get to it the whole day yesterday but the whole day just got away from me in work and stuff to do

So true we alwYs read or see that how femLes are effected from a breakup.. so its good to read that males are also effected in that way!!!
