You asked me and disappeared for one and half month??? 😲😛
Okay, let me begin with apologizing. The last one and a half months have been crazy for me, basically at work... Because when I returned, I had an awaiting mess to be cleared... Then Final exams, Answer sheet correction, Result, and then another trip, and now blah! I am totally bummed.
Coming to my trip, I was accompanying my elder sister and two of her Colleagues, who were going to Siliguri, West Bengal for a CME meeting... A conference kind of... So we decided to extend this trip to some other parts of North-East India.
So we began our journey on the 18th of January, we took a flight via Delhi to Bagdogra; that is the nearest Airport to Siliguri. So the kick in the story is, that once our Flight got canceled on the 17th, we had to re-book our flight for 18th, which again got delayed, because of winters. So the flight took off at our destination, reached Delhi. The winter fog and Delhi's smog mixed up to have absolutely no visibility at the runway; because of which the flights that had to take off in the morning, couldn't, and we had to keep sitting at the runway, in our aircraft for another two hours, so that the aircraft gets some space to move forward and we can get down.
2 hours later, when we went down the aircraft, there was a change of terminal, which meant traveling to another part of the capital city, and reaching the terminal we had to... Coming to know there that the flight we had to catch is again late for one and a half hours, we had to wait. Finally after 2 hours when our flight was announced, and we sat in the aircraft, did we come to know that due to some technical errors, our flight is delayed some more, and so we sat in that aircraft for another hour. So, in short, the flight that was supposed to take off at 9.20 am, took off at 3.30 pm.
Reaching Bagdogra, there was a whole new lot of experience, because we've never seen an airport roof, that was a house of the nest to a million birds, that were coming back to their nests, coz it was about sunset.
Taking a taxi to Siliguri, we reached our hotel 2 hours later, and the first thought that came to us was, that we wanted to crash into our beds because of the delay of flights had us totally exhausted.
But the grumble in our stomachs and the unreasonably high rates of the dinner in the hotel that we were staying in, did we decide that we need to walk around the city, to find a reasonable and tasty restaurant. Google Map assisted us to find one decent restaurant some kilometers away, that we decided to walk to. Amber Dhaba, was where we landed, and that was basically a Punjabi themed restaurant in Bengal...😆
Okay, so we weren't expecting some relishing delicacies, because, it usually happens so, that other state's specialties in another state usually don't taste so great, so we had low expectations, though the ambiance was great, with Punjabi lines scribbled here and there in a filmy style, Bollywood actors painted on the walls, dhaba like furniture, and Bollywood-Punjabi beats playing in the background was very endearing, and especially one notice, on the top of our table caught our attention- "Alcohol to be served only when accompanied by a lady."🤣 Which means that a lady drinks sensibly, while men lose track...😆
Now when the food arrived, and the first morsel that we had... Our eyes popped out of our sockets, because, that was such a yummy meal that it straight away reminded me of my trip to Amritsar 9 and a half years ago, and the taste was no less... Chole-Kulche, Dhabe di daal, naan, and tall glasses of Lassi... You can't really complain...👏
next day these fellows had their CME, and I decided to be a couch potato, ermm... Bed potato... Because, all I did was laying in the bed, and completing one whole book in a day, until they come in the evening.
The next morning we hired another taxi, which was our road trip to Darjeeling, and the actual fun begins here...
TBC... IN THE NEXT POSTS...😈
