Avantika dropped off Chandan at his school and rushed to work

The crushed letter still held in her fist. "Summon to bring the child

She knew if she told her mother she was screwed, she would be summoned to Lucknow and married off

Chandan would be sent to his Dad's family

A family that did not care for her best friend Srishti one bit. Why did they want the child anyway?

Its not like they ever wanted Chandan's mother. Chandan's father Hriday Vaidya was excommunicated for marrying Srishti

Srishti had spent less than 5 years in marital bliss before being killed along with her husband in a car crash on the Delhi Jaipur highway.

Avantika had insisted Srishti go away for a weekend to Jaipur to the Literary Festival

Avantika's eyes filled up with tears

Pacific Trust Bank was busy this morning. She sprinted to her office, there were already three people waiting outside the "door

Her office basically had shoulder high glass walls and a opening

She was the Relationship Manager for Commercial Lending

Nehru Place was not a fun place to park or drive on any day

Her manager a portly lady in her late 40s peeked through the door in a black and white ikat saree

"Achha suno, yeh saare back ground check reports ho chuke hain, just make sure u don't hand copies to the borrowers as usual she smiled and left a stack on her desk

Her phone rang incessantly

She did not recognize the number

Her mother called again

"Ma... hum aapko baad karte hain na, aaj hum pehle hi late hain she whispered

Mrs Garima Sood peeked again and found her on the phone

"Come see me about Abbott Industries she whispered

Avantika nodded politely

"Ammaa hum rakhte hain pleez she begged

"Baat to sun lo... Himani was gushing

"Kya hua? Avanti was not amused

"Vibhu aapko bua banaane waale hain, soch lein aap... abhi to seriously soch lein beta, yeh Chandan Chandan ke chakkar mein 2.5 saal guzaar diye aapne

Avantika was delirious

"Seriously?

"I am not joking raano her mother cooed

"Is baat ka Chandan se kya lena dena?

Himani struggled for a good excuse

She wanted her daughter to ease her grip on the little boy and consider letting him go live with his grandparents the Vaidyas and start thinking about getting married.

Avantika on the other had had made her bed and was going to lay on it

"Kuch bhi nahi Himani said resigned

"Amma humne aapko pehle bhi kaha hai, if someone tries to take Chandan away from me I will go to any extent

Her work phone rang again

She hung up on her mother and picked up her work land line-extension

"This is Avantika Gupta, Commercial Lending, Pacific Trust she said in a slightly exasperated tone

"Looks like you woke up on the wrong side of the bed said a husky smooth male voice

Thanks for kickstarting CKP. I have hit a plateau with SOSY . It's not Nisha's writing . It's me as I felt I did not have much to say in a chat or a review after an update. I feel when a creative person starts a new idea or a story, it's because they are curious to explore that new idea. That's my personal take. Each person here has their first love, second and so on but I also think that there is a pace to every story.

I know we gather , chat and hand around but I'm also very greedy to want Nisha to explore CKP now, then when anything else new strikes her again that she presents here, then that one and another new one after that and then another one .
