Seeing...
His phone rang , he paced her room awkwardly a bit and answered the call walking out, he waved one finger at her
He forgot to return to follow up that thought that night
She went to bed on the lounge chair until mosquitoes accosted her, she went in and crashed on the bed
The next morning was a good one, Rao Anna called her at 8 she was delighted to hear his voice
"Your father has agreed to talk about it" he said
She broke down and cried softly
"And then you will convince him and then he will call the number in the binder and then they will send the people to do inspection and then"
"Wait wait wait my child dont rush. His agreeing to talk doesnt mean anything as you know" Rao mumbled
"I dont want you to lose what you have"
"I know Prakash will never abandon me. We will make food and carry in our bicycle and sell on the beach" he chuckled
"No... no you should not do that" she ordered
"We both have the skills, I cook wel and he cleans well so we will be OK" he smiled
"Not on a bicycle Anna" she pleaded
"Can I come too to help you out?" she offered
"Not sure how you can help, since he is sulking" he laughed
"After you break the ice I will persuade him to call the Operations number" she gushed eagerly.
"How many times will you come?" Your new husband will mind" Rao Anna worried
"No he wont. He said I could go as many times as I want" she said
"I wish I get to see him you know" Rao Anna smiled
She realized that may never happen
she had been itchy all night because of accidentally falling asleep in the lounge chair
The tension causing her to itch more.
Her father might not be able to see Ashvin again either a painfully sad realization
She also realized the moment her father approved of the transition, she was locked in this marriage for life
she can never get out
Even if Jayadev forgives her and agrees to wait for her
Her insides knotted up like seaweeds washed up on rocks
How could she ask her father to decline the offer NOW?
That would be wrong, she had cried endless nights hoping he would
She got up and paced the room when the fear of being trapped intimidated her
"Are you going to bring him this time?" he asked pleasantly
"No I cannot" she said somberly
"Not this time" "(or anytime)
She sighed and hung up,
Tears of joy mixed with tears of sorrow
This was it, if the franchise opp was used, then she would owe him money
60 lakhs or whatever portion there of
Now the exit door was sealed shut
Something changed with the phone call
Until she had gotten it, there was hope of returning to Ullal
Now there was none
She just has to pray that he finds someone he loves and "sets her free"
Maybe the franchise restaurant will bring it great revenues that Aanu can save some up and negotiate her freedom?
She knew she was getting too far ahead now
She peeked out of the room he was in the kitchen
She decided to tell him about her trip
"What happened he asked
She rubbed her itchy forehead and forearms.
"There are many mosquitoes" she said quietly
"You left the door open?" he asked amused
"Does it look like I did?" She looked her reflection in the round ornamental mirror in the dining area
"It does doesnt it?" she said sadly
"I slept without realizing" she mumbled
"You wont do it again probably" he said looking at her with worry
She looked at herself again, and for a brief second their gaze met in the reflection
She was on her toes trying to see the high mirror
She was rubbing her forehead, she dropped her hand down
"I am sorry about Prasad" she said
He turned away quickly
"Thats fine"
"I didnt know if you want me to tell everybody"
"I seriously dont know the answer to that" he said candidly
"He brings his cat so he was being nice"
He poured his tea out in a mug
"If it causes a problem with the neighbor I wont go" she said
"You should socialize with whoever you like" he said with difficulty
"Umm...I want to go to Ullal" she said
"For how long?" he asked
The expression on his face surprising her
"I dont know... my father, has not seen the proposal. Rao Anna the cook, he is more like a friend said he will talk" she explained
He nodded quietly
This mess was a whole another angle to their relationship
He was the chief architect.
"I think a week?" she said answering the Q
He was miffed but didnt utter a word
"i will go to the university also. I also ordered a article last night. I was not good, but they had citations for some other papers that my library might have" she said
He sipped his tea leaning on the counter, looking at her quietly
He pushed his glasses back on the bridge often
"I will go get ready so I can pack" she told him
She went back to her room and a few minutes later screamed
ASHWINNN
ASHWINNN
He was in the home office reading the sports page
He jumped out of his chair and sprinted to her room
"Trisha?" "Whattt?"
She stood in a corner by the door
"There is a lizard" she shrieked "Help me please?" she begged
"WHAT? LIZARD?"WHERE" he asked looking at where she was pointing
"DONT U SEE?" "Its right there!!!!" she waved "There... there... there..." she screeched waving a finger
There was a wall shelving unit a study desk, books artefacts, TV everything
"You left the door open last night" he said dryly
"So you wont help me ?" she was hugely offended
He was completely amused by that diss
"I did not say that" he chuckled
"THEN GO GET IT" she ordered
"i would if I saw it Trisha" he stood by her arms crossed across his chest
An old pair of jeans and a stripe tee
"Because you are unwilling to help, dont you see the brown tail?" she was horrified as she pointed to some spot on the back of the white bookunit
He went into the room and wandered peering at the wall
"I dont see a thing" "I am sorry" he said
"You are not wearing your glasses" she dissed
He burst out laughing
"U think I am blind?" he asked shocked
"ITS THIS BIG" she said her fingers measuring a good twenty inches
"Thereee" she screeched
As the frightened indoor gecko looked for an escape route
She ran out of the room
He picked up the small hand towel on the bathroom sink ring and grabbed it and opened the glass balcony door and dusted it off
He turned to her
She looked anxious and relieved
"bangalore is full of bugs" she said
Walking inside bravely
"Now you can go" she said preoccupied
"I mean... thats it there was only one" she said matter of factly
"Thats it?" he asked
She nodded factually
He crowded her by the wall
"U thought I was blind?" he asked fishing in his back pocket
"Not BLIND... but basically... cant see" she said a lil breathlessly but sincerely looking at his face inches from hers
"Oh...OK that makes more sense" he mocked laughing uncontrollably.
"You were not seeing it" she argued lamely
"And"
"U saw it" she nodded
"And"
"You picked it up with a towel" she pointed to the navy square on the floor
They spent enormous seconds checking each other out at the 6 inch distance
"Bangalore means bugs" she said dismissively
He bit his lower lip to hide his repeated amusement
He wore his glasses as she watched, blushing gloriously
"you should just keep wearing it only" she advised waving her finger
Only to spot geckos she told herself...
"Hmmm" he exhaled his steaming breath fanning her mosquito bitten face
