Despite questions troubling her conscience and the sanity of her mind, Khushi followed Arnav in his long and paced strides. She tried to analyse his body language once again, but just like before, she was unable to draw any conclusion from the sight she beheld.

"Good evening, Sir," greeted Aman, whom Khushi knew as his personal secretary since she had the chance to meet him during the signing of the contract. Arnav nodded at him curtly accepting his greetings and the keys which Aman forwarded towards him

"Ms.Gupta," he greeted her as Khushi faked a smile towards him. She was sure that he knew it was a fake smile but it was more than clear that neither did she possess the energy to bring out a smile nor she had a desire to. The smile was just a sign of courtesy which had been forced by whatever help she could see him doing.

"Thanks for the help, Aman," thanked Arnav.

"Anytime, Sir. This is nothing in comparison to what you did for my family," said Aman, a grateful smile never leaving his lips.

If not anything else, Aman's words just confused her further. She had known the ruthless side of Arnav Singh Raizada.

The one which would not let her place her own conditions.
The one who would not understand her need for a contract wedding.
The one who lost his temper for every trivial reason.

But the one who helped others and considered their emotions? She did not even have the mildest hint that the man whom she took a dislike to at the very first meet could be that man.

Her trail of thoughts broke when she saw Arnav shake his hands with Aman and walking over to take the driver seat. She realized that she needed to take her seat and moved on to act on her thoughts.

She could not help but look at the man's face whom she had judged so wrong, wondering where she had gone so wrong and what compelled her to jump to conclusion so quickly.

"Seat-belt," he reminded, looking at her dazed face without any emotions.

"Huh?"

"Seat-belt, Ms.Gupta," he repeated, pondering what had gone wrong with her all of sudden.

"Why?" she questioned suddenly, looking straight into his eyes, searching for answers of every question that haunted her.

"Ms.Gupta, I hardly think this is a time to lecture about road safety. I thought.."

"Not seat-belt. Why did you do this? You could have easily done what your family told you to. But you chose to go against them for someone whom you hardly know. Why?" she asked, her eyes weary and voice betraying her vulnerability.

"I did not do this for you, Ms.Gupta. I did it for myself. I don't think I would be able to forgive myself if I, directly or indirectly, forced someone to compromise on their morals and self-respect. I cannot just go with the flow, Ms.Gupta. Until I find out that this is the only way out, I would not resort to this," he answered. He knew that was not the complete truth.

It hurt him more than he cared to admit to himself or anyone else to see someone who prided on their self-respect to face a blow on their most prized possession. Her dauntless attitude has managed to frighten him, even if it was a moment, and it would be a shame if she was to compromise on something she kept on the highest pedestal. He might have lived a life reaching upto the expectations of his family but to see someone so headstrong becoming a victim of the same ignited a fire which made him fight against the injustice their families put them through.

She just sighed as she nodded slightly and locked the seatbelt. The click sound pulled Arnav out of his thoughts and made him start the engine.

It was going to be a long journey.

----------------------------------------
Gynecologist's House,

"Ms.Gupta and Mr.Raizada, I hardly think that Ms.Gupta's virginity is as big an issue as it is being portrayed. Definitely, her hymen could be a problem in the future and to avoid that, I would advice that she does some form of vigorous exercise before you go for the insemination process. If that is not possible, Ms.Gupta can try complete splits and squats or kicking into the air. That would surely help her in the long run," she advised while Arnav and Khushi listened with rapt attention.

They both let out the breath which they had been unknowingly holding in relief as they interpreted the doctor's words.

"Thank you, Doctor," they said spontaneously, as they rose from their seats and shook hands with the doctor before taking their leave after wishing her a good night.

Khushi could feel a humongous phantom burden being lifted off her and life force filling her again. She had been so dizzy that she surprised herself by not losing consciousness or control over her movements. She thanked her Devi Maiyya for not putting her through a situation she was so unsure of.

On the other hand, Arnav was content that he chose to take a second opinion and it worked out on their favor. He could not help but feel furious about his sister and grandmother who might have been behind the whole suggestion.

--------------------------------------------
Hotel,

"I really think we need to sleep now. I am dead tired after this extremely long day," mused Arnav as he crashed on the bed as soon as they entered the room.

Khushi had found something else to ponder about and that had kept her occupied throughout the journey. She wondered what would be the sleeping arrangement as she certainly did not want to sleep beside Arnav Singh Raizada and land in an awkward situation.

And his words just turned on the wrong button of the mind.

"If you think that after what you did, I will be incredibly grateful and listen to everything you say, you are wrong, Mr.Raizada. There is no way in hell that I am sharing a bed with you if it is not necessary!" she exclaimed, her hands moving animatedly.

"Of course, Ms.Gupta. I would not expect it from you. I was offering you the bed while I take the couch. It is only courteous to offer you the more comfortable setting after the incredibly unsettling day it would have been, ain't it?" he asked, grabbing a pillow from the bed as she looked at him incredulously and having the decency to look ashamed for insinuating the worst.

"I won't sleep on the bed," she stated, her words forcing to turn and face her.

"Pardon me," he said, thinking that his ears failed him. He was offering her the luxurious option and she could not be having a problem for having an advantage, could she?

"I said, I won't sleep on the bed. Honestly Mr.Raizada, has the day been so long that you lost your sense of hearing?" she questioned, her sarcasm coming back to her.

"But why? I thought you would want to have a good night's sleep before facing the next day," he answered, ignoring her sarcastic remarks.

"Definitely, Mr.Raizada. And I would hardly have any of that if I sleep on the bed and you sleep on the couch. It is hardly fair that you pay for the room and you take the couch. I will take the couch and you take the bed," she almost commanded. Her self-respect would not allow her to exploit anyone's money, fame or power to her own advantage.

"Come on, this is hardly a time to debate on the fairness of the arrangement, Ms.Gupta. Sometimes I feel you are being unreasonable," he complained.

Just as she was about to counter him, he received a call which silenced her. He pulled out the mobile from his back pocket only to be angered by the name displayed.

"Di calling," showed the mobile screen and he wondered what could have caused the call.

Wonderful update
Loved how Arnav thought about Khushi's values and morals are important to her and found out the solution for their problem. Khushi is confused about Arnav's behavior and find it mystery. Poor Arnav, even when he wanted to make Khushi comfortable, she misunderstood him. Wondering is Anjali calling Arnav to find out is everything fine with them.
Waiting for the next one
Advance Thanks for the PM
