Part 3
Giving her the file, Naina walks towards a shocked Rajveer. Taking her hand out in front of him, she announces, "Hello Captain Rajveer Singh Shekhawat! Let me introduce myself. I am Advocate Naina Singh Aaluwalia, defence attorney! Mein aapka case ladna chahti hun, agar aapki ijaazat ho toh?"
Rajveer was shocked, he didn't know what to say or what to do. Should he accept her offer? Why did she hide so much from him? What could have been the reason behind her lies?
(Fast Rajveer-Naina music played in the background)
Without any emotions on his face. Rajveer shock Naina's hand. This gesture of Rajveer made Naina smile.
For few moments, she just stared at Rajveer smiling.
Her smile vanished when she felt her hand being tightened. Rajveer has gripped her hand so tight that she couldn't even move a muscle. He was not ready to leave her hand even after knowing that everyone was watching them. This gesture of Rajveer made Naina scared and breathless.
A scared Naina looked at his hand and then looked in his eyes. She got even more afraid when she saw nothing, but anger in his eyes. Yes, angry was evident in his eyes.
She knew the reason why he was behaving like this. She knew that she had hurt him with her lies. She knew that he will not leave her so quickly. She knew that she has to tell him the whole truth. She knows that she has to explain herself to him, there is no way out. There is no escape for her.
Scared of what her eyes might reveal, Naina immediately lowered her eyes. She is not ready to reveal anything, at least not yet. She has a much more important thing to do right now, that is to prove her Rajveer sir innocent. She knows that if she keeps looking into his eyes, he may read everything. He may read what's in her heart. He may find out what she has been hiding all these days.
However, this action of Naina didn't go so well with Rajveer. He knew the reason why she was avoiding his gaze. He knew that if she kept looking into his eyes, he will know everything that's in her heart. He knows that Naina is afraid to reveal anything, at least not now. However, he can tolerate anything, but he cannot tolerate when his Naina avoids looking him in the eyes directly.
Rajveer's anger increased by this action of Naina. He waited for few minutes that she might look at him in the eyes, but she was also Naina Singh Aaluwalia. She gave him a tough competition, she stayed in her position, with her eyes lowered. She was trying to free her hand from his grip, but, he was not ready to let her go. He was also Captain Rajveer Singh Shekhawat, always up for challenges.
His patience was over when Naina still avoided making eyes contacts with him. To get her to look back into his eyes, he squeezed her hand so tightly that he could hear her moan with pain. It hurt Rajveer to core, hurting his Naina, but he had to. Today he had to be Captain Rajveer Singh Shekhawat, not Rajveer. This action of Rajveer succeeded as Naina quickly looked into his eyes.
They locked eyes immediately. Rajveer could see the pain in her eyes, the pain of losing him. But, all he cared right now was his answers. He needed to get his answers right away.
Rajveer's thought: "Aise kyun naazre chura rahi ho Naina? Itna toh chupaya hai ab kya baki reh gayya hai chupane wala? Jawab do."
Naina's thought: "Please sir, abhi nahi..Abhi time sahi nahi hai..Sab log dekh rahe hain, please sir!"
Rajveer's thought: "I don't give a dam about others, Naina. All I care about is my answers right now. Mujhe mere jawab chahiye..Kyun itna kuch chupaya tumne mujhse? Kya bharoosa nahi tha mujhpe tumhe?"
Naina's thought: "Please sir, ye baat aap bhi jaante hain ke mein agar kisi pe bharoosa karti hoon toh wo sirf aap hain."
Rajveer's thought: "toh phir? Phir kyun chupaya tumne mujhse sab kuch?"
Naina's thought: "Mein aapko sab batoon gi lekin sir abhi waqt sahi nahi hai.. Is baat se zaroori hai aapko begunaah sabit karna."
Rajveer slowly loosened his grip on her hand, grazing his fingers along her wrist in a slow circular motion. But, he still kept a firm hold on her hand. He knows her too well. If opportunity given, she might escape from his grip.
This action of Rajveer gave shivers in her entire body. Her heart started racing fast. Suddenly, a smile appeared on Rajveer's face seeing her vulnerability. He knows that just his simple touch can make her lose control. He has decided to use this for his advantage, but for later, when they will be alone and when he gets his answers.
Rajveer's thought - smiling - "Theek hai Naina, abhi ke liye mein kuch nahi kehta LEKIN mere trial ke baad mujhe mere sare jawab chahiye. Warna tum janti ho mujhe apnay jawab achi tarah se lene aatay hain...samjhi?"
This tone of Rajveer made her heart skipped a beat. She knew what he was referring to. Just few minutes ago, he gave her a small demonstration. She lowered her eyes which ensured him that she will answer his questions afterwards.
Their thoughts and their eye-contact were broken by a very irritating voice.
"Agar aap dono ka introduction khatam hogaya ho toh, can we please proceed the case?", said Capt Salve in a very sarcastic way.
Captain Salve's words dragged both Rajveer and Naina's attention. Rajveer finally let go of Naina's hand, but still warned her with his eyes.
Coming back to where Capt Salve is standing, Naina proceeds and says, rather requests the judges, "Is se pehle ke hum ye case shuru karein, I have a request sir!"
"Yes?", asked one of the judges
"Kyunke Captain Shekhawat ka juram abhi sabit nahi hua hai toh I would like to request you to give him his ranks back. Ye kahan ka insaaf hai sir k ek insaan jis ka gunaah abhi sabit nahi hua hai, us ke hum ranks le lein...This is not fair sir", replies Naina.
This gesture of Naina shocks everyone, but not Rajveer! A bright smile appears on his face. He knows how much she respects him, and how much she loves him. But, she hasn't confessed her love yet, but, he will make her confess her love soon, after his trial!
The judge looks at Capt Salve and asks, "Do you have any problems with that Capt Salve?"
"No sir!", Capt Salve replies immediately!
"Permission granted!", orders the judge
After few minutes, two orderlies are seen coming inside the court with Captain Rajveer's ranks. Seeing his ranks, a smile appears on Rajveer's face, tears started flowing through his eyes. He looked at Naina who was already looking at him. He was feeling so proud of her, his Cadet Singh, his love! Naina smiled which ensured Rajveer that everything was going to be fine soon! His Naina will prove him innocent, no matter what.
His ranks were given back to him by Brigadier Chandook. Even BC felt happy giving Rajveer his ranks back.
Court proceedings started -
Getting up from her seat, Capt Salve said, "Mein Cadet Aalekh Sharma ko witness box mein bulane ki ijaazat chahoongi."
Aalekh got up from his seat and made his way towards the witness box.
Capt Salve started her torture, in form of questions.
"Tell me Cadet Aalekh, suna hai aapko sharaab peenay ki problem hai?", asked Capt Salve
"Galat sunela hai, problem hai issi liye sharab peeta hoon.", replies Aalekh immediately
Getting frustrated by Aalekh's answer, Capt Salve asks, "on an average, aap haftay mein kitni sharab pee laitay hain Cadet?"
"Zayada nahi peta", Aalekh replies
"Kya Captain Rajveer ko aapki is sharaab ki lat ke baaray mein pata hai?", she asked again
Aalekh looked at Rajveer first, then looked at Naina. Looking back at Capt Salve, he answered, "haan, unhe pata tha.."
"haan?", hitting her hand on the box, Capt Salve proceeds, "unhe or bohut kuch pata tha Cadet Sharma. Aapke remand home ke dino ke bare mein, aapke bachpan ke mushkil halation ke baray mein, ye jaante hue bhi ke aapke maa baap ko kuch atta pata nahi hai, phir bhi Capt Rajveer ka vishwaas or support aapke liye kabhi kam nahi hua. Aap ka bayaan sahi ho hi nahi sakta Cadet sharma...", she yells, "You are biased towards Capt Rajveer. Agar wo nahi hotay toh aap kab se KMA se nikale ja chuke hotay."
Getting frustrated, Aalekh yells, "Aisaa...", now being a little calm, "aisa nahi hai ma'am"
"Sirf haan ya na mein jawab dijiye Cadet", Salve yells
When she does not receive an answer from Aalekh, Capt Salve looks at the judges and says, "ye gawaah accused ki taraf biased hai sir, I would like to discredit his deposition."
Naina, who was sitting calm on her chair, finally gets up and interrupts Capt Salve.
"I object sir!", yells Naina
Now going towards Aalekh, Naina asks him, "Cadet sharma, kya mein aapse pooch sakti hoon ke aaj tak KMA mein aapka safar kaisa raha?"
"KMA ne apun ko ye sikhaya hai ke tum sab ki tarah apun bhi ek insaan hai, or apun ko bhi izaat se jeene ka haq hai.", replies Aalekh calmly
"Toh ab kya mein aapse pooch sakti hoon sir", says Naina locking towards the judges, "ke hum kis binaah pe is witness ko discredit kar rahe hain? Kisi bhi tarah ki tarafdaari ka saboot na hotay hue bhi kya hum is ki gawaahi ko sirf issi liye na manzoor kar deinge kyunke Cadet Sharma apne superiors ki izaat kartay hain?"
"Cadet Sharma ki gawaahi ko discredit nahi kia jayega!", orders one of the judges.
This was it for Capt Salve, she has lost all of her patience. Getting annoyed by Naina's remarks, Capt Salve goes up to Naina and yells, "itni taraf daari kyun kar rahi ho tum Capt Rajveer ki? Haan? Kya sirf issi liye ke wo tumhare mentor hain? Ya phir tum apnay 2 koori ke ghatiya aashiq ko bacha rahi ho?"
