Chapter 248- The Verification

Aleena and Lokesh were back in their hotel room. Her meeting with Sudeepta was brief. While taking the rounds of the temple Sudeepta had given her a letter telling her the letter contains information about her, what she wants and what they need to do if they feel they can help her. Aleena had told her she hoped they will soon meet once again.

Now Aleena, Nisha and Lokesh were reading the letter in their room. In that Sudeepta had written who she was and the full story of how she ended up in the brothel. She wrote about the treachery Rawat did with her and the way Setia raped her the first time. Then her life for past 3 years in a brothel in Mewar where she was an object of lust for countless men. She talked about her brother and grandmother and also gave her old address which she felt they would need if they want to authenticate her story. But she requested not to let her family know where she was as it will break them.

It told the only thing that has kept her alive was the fact that one day she will get an opportunity to get back to people who were destroying the lives of countless girls like her. Since Rawat and Setia were no longer there she told Satish Kowsik the district collector of Mewar was in her top most list.

Aleena wanted to jump, but Nisha pulled her back as they continued to read. Sudeepta continued in her letter the district collector supported all the inhumane practices with the rich families in Mewar and also with the help of Prathana Devi the self-proclaimed Goddess of Mewar. He got crores of money from clinics which did female feticide. He supported human trafficking rackets. She told, she knew the way on how to get proof for Kowsik's illegal activities.

Then it said if they feel they can expose him, a man among them will have to come to her brothel on a regular basis atleast for a week before 5 pm and demand her as she can come out only once in 3 months and the quota was over for her that day. It also mentioned her rate per day which would have to be paid to the brothel owner.

After reading the letter the trio looked at each other. Now money was involved if they need to go. They decided to call Shekhar. Once Shekhar heard everything he told he will ask Sreedhar to check on the information to authenticate Sudeepta and will get back to them.

Dinner was over in Varma house and the ladies completed their night chores and were moving towards their rooms when Suman called Poornima.

" Poorni I have got some work to finish with my fabric painting. Maa told me not to work alone in the terrace. Could you please be there with me for one hour. "

" No issues Chachi. I will come " told Poorni and they went to terrace.

As they opened the terrace door Suman was surprised to see Sreedhar standing alone looking at the sky.

" Sreedhar what happened. Why are you here this late " she asked and Sreedhar turned and saw both of them. He tried to wipe his tears.

" Sreedhar what happened. I had felt you had some problem during dinner time " asked Suman now concerned.

" No Sumi, nothing, I was just thinking about our college days. You continue with work. You came for that right. "

" Lying to me Sreedhar Varma and you believe I wont catch it. You knew I will come right because that half finished saree was there in my work bench. You wanted me to come to unburden yourself. Now why silent. Because she is there" asked Suman looking at Poorni.

" Sreedhar she is grown up enough to understand most of the things. Unless it is very specific between us, I don't see the need to hide from her" told Suman.

" Sumi it is not about telling her. It is about not able to see her pain when she hears what I am going to tell. If it has disturbed me so much , it wont be easy for her to take it" told Sreedhar.

" Chachu I have withstood the truth of my birth. What can be more painful than that. " asked Poorni.

" It surprises me Poorni that what all things happen in this world. How people give pain to others for their selfishness. When I saw Sumi in white saree I thought nothing else can disturb me more than that sight. I was proved wrong when I read the letter Sumi gave me telling you are my niece. I thought that is the maximum pain I need to withstand. When Sumi broke couple of days back about her childhood I realized a different degree of pain can be withstood. But today when I heard about Sudeepta I don't know Sumi and Poorni but I feel I have become numb to pain.

" Sudeepta didi. What happened to her. Where is she " asked Poorni.

Sreedhar told them about Shekhar's call where he asked to verify about a girl called Sudeepta. Then he told where she was, what kind of a life she lead.

Suman and Poorni listened in shock both crying.

" Poorni Sudeepta is going to be part of Shekhar's mission. It is very important her whereabouts are not to anyone else. Most importantly she has specifically requested not to tell Rakesh or dadiji. So I request both of you not to talk to anyone regarding this. This pain we will have to swallow at this point" told Sreedhar and both of them nodded.

Then Sreedhar told goodnight to them and went down. Suman sat to finish her work, but she had to bring all her strength to concentrate on her work. She painted a butterfly with colorful wings on the saree thinking about the clipped wings of Sudeepta. Poorni watched but she was also lost in thoughts. She had thought her mother suffered the most. But each day seeing and hearing each story she realized what her mother suffered was much less.

Wow One major step crossed by Sudeepa.. good she gave all the details of the culprits and details to verify her authenticity.. What Sreedhar says is true na.. people never bother about the pain they inflict on others for their own selfish motives ... Right from Suman's dad to that creep lady Prathana.. Godliness ne aad mein doing heinous crime.. Sudeepa was just another innocent girl for Setia, Rawat and co to prey on but they would have never realized that meek girl is going to be the root cause of their vinash...

Other's pain always makes one realise how lucky we are. Hats off to u for writing such a difficult story.
