Meeting His Friends
Arohi stared upstairs for the third time and still not finding any sign of Arjun, she sighed!
What kind of a man keeps a woman waiting?
She and Arjun were going for a dinner at his friend Salil's place. He had asked her to be ready by 7 and now it's 7:10 but he isn't here.
She had recovered well from sickness. Though she is still little weak but overall better.
She knew he was here even before she saw him because she heard him. He was talking on his mobile while coming downstairs. He was wearing a sea green shirt with beige pants and Arohi swore under her breath.
No not because he was looking breathtaking handsome or someone but because they were twining!
She too was wearing sea green Kurti with white trousers. She scrunched her nose in distaste looking at him.
"Such a big cricketer and no value of time!"
"U.." he started but she cut him off
"We are already getting late. Thanks to you. Let's go" she walked ahead of him. She heard him mumble something as he followed her.
It took them 20 minutes to reach Salil's home. When they were going to enter she heard him speak from behind.
"Everyone will be there. So behave!"
Turning around she glared at him "who is asking to behave?" She scoffed. "The one who himself has no sense!"
"Oh hello! I got better behavioral sense than u" he retorted glaring at her.
She chuckled and flipped her hair "At least don't argue over this with ME" she emphasized on me. She saw him clenching his hands and opening his mouth to speak. She quickly rang the doorbell making him bite back whatever he was going to fire at her.
It was matter of few seconds that door opened. It was Romit who welcomed them. He gave a small hug to Arjun and then turned to her with a wide smile.
"Wow! U look beautiful Bhabhi" he complimented her genuinely.
She grinned back at him "Thank you and don't call me Bhabhi. Arohi will do"
"As u wish Arohi"
"Better" she spoke and then added "By the way You too look quite handsome"
He smiled sheepishly thanking her.
"Are u two planning to stand here all night!" Arohi's happy smiled slipped hearing his rude and annoying voice.
He pushed Romit aside "well let me go"
Behavioural Sense! Huh! What a joke!
Arohi thought with a scoff and gave an apologetic look to Romit before walking inside herself.
The house was nearly similar to Arjun's but it was more homely and lively compared to his. It had such welcoming and positive vibes.
Arohi saw Arjun hugging Purvi and he had a genuine smile on his face as they talked about something.
Arohi quietly walked near them to greet her.
"Ahhh...Finally" Purvi spoke looking at her. She moved towards her and pulled her in a hug "I have been dying to see you in person"
She cupped her cheek "so pretty" turning towards Arjun she spoke teasingly "U r one lucky man Arjun"
Arohi looked down with small smile not knowing what else to say or do.
"I am so sorry I couldn't make it to wedding. Doctor has prohibited me from travelling" Purvi continued keeping a hand on her baby bump.
"It's alright. Congratulations." Arohi spoke softly
Purvi smiled and gave a slight nod "Salil was so right. You guys look so cute together" she said making Arjun stand beside her "and Salil look at them...they are twinning" she chuckled.
Salil came towards and greeted them. "Purvi darling u should take a seat. Standing for long duration will tire you" he lovingly held her hands and directed her to sofa.
"Arjun Arohi plz have a seat"
Arohi tried sitting as far as possible from Arjun but Purvi made her sit beside him. He glared at her as she sat close to him.
"Romit call Jai and ask where is he? For once can he come on time!" Purvi spoke angrily.
Just in time the bell rang and Romit rushed to open door. No points for guessing it was Jai, who walked in holding a bouquet of red roses.
Seeing the flowers Purvi's anger instantly mellowed down.
"I am sorry for being late" he handed the bouquet to Purvi and then waved a hi at her and Arjun.
Taking a seat across them he plopped down on couch "So what did I miss?"
"Nothing Much" Romit replied shrugging his shoulder.
Rest of the evening passed quite happily for Arohi as she bonded well with both Romit and Purvi. Purvi showed her around and have her some marriage tips which were really unwanted but she couldn't deny and listened her with utmost importance.
Romit being just an year older than her connected with her instantly. He was really a tragic king as he had so many funny stories to tell.
During the whole time she felt his angry eyes on her. Whenever she looked at him, he was already glaring at her. After having dinner everyone decided to play a game of cards. Since she didn't know how to play she was made to sit beside Arjun and understand the game.
Arohi smiled mischievously as she thought of taking a proper revenge from Arjun. When Arjun picked his card and was looking at them keenly, she took a look at his card discreetly.
She patiently waited for pile to rise. Arjun had a triumphant smile on his face as he was left with only 2 cards and while others still had many cards.
"Two 2's" he spoke throwing his cards in middle.
Arohi looked at him innocently "but u don't even have one 2 Arjun"
It was a sight to see his smirk dropping as Romit took no time in calling his bluff.
The Result: Arjun Singhania lost with worst figures in history.
He kept on giving her murderous looks but she felt so happy to even bother about it.
He tried his best to hide his cards but Arohi somehow managed to peek and spoil his game. Such fun it was.
They played total 5 games and Arjun couldn't one any single of them. All thanks to Arohi.
Arohi looked at Purvi and she didn't like the look on her face. She was looking at both of them with overly sweet smile that creeped her. And when she opened her mouth to speak she knew it wasn't going to be something good.
"Salil told me about your dance at Sangeet. I so hate it that I missed that but I can still see you guys dance. Haina Arjun" (right) she stared at Arjun with twinkling eyes.
Please say no! Please say no! She chanted in heart.
"Purvi I will send you the video" Arjun replied and Arohi took a sigh of relief.
But her relief was short lived as you can never deny a pregnant lady anything. In no time her eyes were filled with water. "I knew it! You are angry with me for not showing up at your wedding"
"I am not angry Purvi" he spoke and immediately went to her side consoling her.
She sniffed "Wow! Exactly why will it matter to u if I attend your wedding or not! Who am I to you?" And she went into another crying frenzy.
Arjun's eyes widened "God! Purvi i didn't mean it like that. Fine me and Arohi will dance. Okay. Stop crying!"
"Really" she sobered up like nothing happened.
Arjun grimacely nodded. Arohi's amusing eyes transformed to that of horror stricken.
Salil put on some romantic music and dimmed the lights making environment perfect for lovely setting.
Arohi could have protested but seeing the fit Purvi threw earlier she didn't want to deal with it on her own and she knew there was no way out.
So taking a long sigh she stared directly in Arjun's eyes and kept her hand in his as he helped her standing up.
The table was cleared from middle making space for the lovely couple to dance.
Arohi felt really awkward as he placed her hands on his shoulders and directed her to sway with music. She looked at Purvi who was grinning widely looking at them. She passed a small smile at her before Arjun twirled her.
She caught both Jai and Romit making video of their dancing. She hoped against hope that they don't put it on any of their social media. Her college-mates and friends will roast her to death.
Turning her around he entwined their hands and kept it on her belly while lightly swaying with music.
Arohi could finally breathe when the music ended. With a jerk Arjun left her and vanished into kitchen.
The night finally came to an end as they headed back to his apartment.
Arohi stared out of window and there were not many cars on road. Her recent favorite Dil Diyan Gallan started playing. She quickly increased the volume only to have Arjun change the channel. She gave him a pointed look and went back to previous channel. He returned her look "What's your problem?"
"I want to listen that song" she crossed her arms.
"This is my car and only my choice of songs will play!"
She narrowed her eyes "God!!! I don't even get it how you are friends with such nice people"
"What do you mean by that?" He demanded looking at her.
Arohi shrugged her shoulders "They are so sweet, U are so bitter. They are so nice, U are so mean. They are so friendly and U are so rude"
"Fine I get it. Stop!" He cut off between stopping her.
She pouted "I am not even half way yet"
"Shut up" Arjun kept on driving. The car stopped in his private parking. When Arohi opened the door to get out it didn't open. After trying for 2 times more she realized he had applied child lock.
"So u think I can't be as nice as my friends!"
Arohi rolled her eyes "I don't think.. I know!" God! Why was she even having this conversation with him!!! She thought and maybe it was for first time they were having a conversation where he wasn't trying to insult her or order her.
"I can be nice if I want but your face doesn't help a bit"
There we go!
She looked at him squarely "Everytime I see your face I have urge to punch you but I don't because I am a nice person"
There was silence for few seconds as she kept glaring at him and he simply looked at her.
"Okay! Let's have a challenge. I will be nice to you for one whole week."
"ONE WEEK!!! U won't survive one day" Arohi mocked him "and why are you even doing this? What you want to prove?"
Arjun shrugged "I just want to prove you wrong"
She shook her head "what will I get if you loose"
"We will decide on later what will I get of I win" he smirked "Arjun Singhania never loses"
"There is always a first time!" She winked imitating his smirk.
So will Arjun be able to be nice to Arohi for one week? What do you think?
