LAST PART

"I promise that I will never remind you of our past or anything that will make you feel awkward. I will make sure that you will have your space," she vowed as she took her round. It surprised her that they didn't have to think before promising each other. It was as if a river flowed in their hearts, depositing these vows in their minds.

Arnav knew how difficult it was for Khushi to put her past behind her and move on and was touched by her actions deeply. Who knew that one day he would be able to win the heart of the one, who hated him the most, so much that she redefined love for him?

"And I promise that nothing of mine would remain as a secret to you. You would have access to every single thought, every single action of mine. I promise transparency to you."

Khushi turned around and smiled at him affectionately. Such was his love that he cared about her feelings more than his.

"I won't lie, I would be retaining my maiden name post marriage. But I promise that my name would be the only thing of mine you would not be a part of. I will always be proud of my identity as your wife. I promise fidelity to you," she vowed, wincing at the memory of her mother taunting her when she had revealed her thoughts of not changing her name post-marriage. She only hoped that Arnav would prove her wrong, like he always did.

And he did.

"As long as you hold me in your heart, there is no need for you to take my name. We are from two different cultures and I promise that I will never force mine on yours and would accept yours heartily."

"I promise that I am in this until the end," she takes the final vow, praying that they both get the strength to fight every obstacle to stay together forever and give her the strength to fulfill each of her vows.

"I said this before and I say this again. Ab Jeeyenge Tho Aap Ke Liye, Aur Agar Marna Bhi Padhe Tho Aapke Khatir.."

Khushi turned around and stopped him by placing her finger against his lips. The very thought of him giving up his life for her was devastating for her. What began as a mild concern had turned out to be a love which placed his safety above hers and Khushi held that feeling as one of the most purest feelings of her life.

"I love you," she said in a hoarse whisper, looking in the eyes which resembled the ocean his name stood for.

"I love you too, Sabse Zyada," he reciprocated, pulling her into a tight hug.

Khushi, at that moment, knew that the river flowing in them, the river uniting the two banks they were standing on, the river which made them vow, was the river of love which would never dry up.

"Khushi Ji, we just took our vows and tomorrow is our wedding. What gift do you have for me?" Arnav asked, lightening the intense atmosphere and pulling out of the hug.

" Excuse me, I am getting married to you and you need a bigger gift. Kaise Insaan Ho Tum Arnav? Ungli Di Toh Haath Pakad Liya?" Khushi teased Arnav, who charmed a smile at her, as they looked at the moon, at which he used to look at every time he felt lost in her love.

" Of course, the hand is also mine and the right to hold it while taking vows too. Isn't it?" Arnav questioned her while looking at her passionately while Khushi nodded in agreement with tears of happiness flooding in her eyes. She hugged Arnav's left arm and rested her head against his shoulder as she spoke,

" Thanks Arnav."

" Thanks? You don't need to thank me for anything, because whatever I did was my duty, Khushi." Arnav held the arm which circled around his arm with assurance in his eyes which were eyeing the serene beauty beside him.

" No, Arnav. Let me thank you. Thank you for being in my life. Thank you for filling my normal life with the colors of your love. Thank you for restoring my belief on love, marriage and this world. But most of all thank you Arnav for being whom you are. I love you Arnav. Tumhare Bina, Mere Wajood Ka Koi Matlaab Nahi." Khushi whispered with love dripping from her voice as she locked her eyes with Arnav's which were showering love on her.

Arnav's hand which was holding her hand traveled northwards to cup her face gently in his hand, as he placed a kiss which showed every emotion he had for Khushi on her forehead, with which Khushi felt assured that she was now complete with her soulmate.

"Arnav, I don't think we should meet up till our wedding," she said suddenly.

Arnav was surprised by her sudden statement. "Why? What happened?"

"I don't believe in all these superstitions but they say that the bride and groom must not meet before the wedding as it is considered inauspicious. I don't know how much true it is but I don't want to take risk and lose you. Abhi Tho Dil Jude Hai, Judai Se Khauff Hai. And if we tease ourselves, I think our wedding night would be amazing for sure," she teased him.

"Don't you dare remind me of that! Or I would take you right here, right now," he said, with a passion which made shivers run across her spine. That moment she knew that the passion in their love was enough to light the entire world and the night of their union would have hues of red hot passion splayed all over it.

"Theek Hai but we can do this much right? And our families would also be happy. I am sure, Inn Intezaar Ke Lamhon ke Peeche Kuch Tho Raaz Hoga," she said, looking at him expectantly.

He melted at the sight of her eager eyes and a need to fulfill every wish of hers developed in him. Reluctantly yet involuntarily, he accepted her wish.

"Theek Hai. Jaisi Tumhari Marzi. Lekin Yaad Rakhiye Actress Sahibha, Shaadi Ke Baad, Aap Sirf Hamare Paas Hongi. No Bahane would work. I will not let you get down the bed for...um..11 days," he warned, playfully.

Khushi acted as if she was horrified for a second but deep inside his prospect was sending excitement across her body.

"And why exactly is this count of 11 days made?" she questioned, placing both her arms on either side of his head, as she leant towards him.

"Because there are 11 hours to our marriage to begin. Ek Ek Ghante Ka Hisaab Chukana Padhega Madam Aapko," he teased, brushing her nose with his.

"Tair Raha Phir. But you should deal with the entire family, I don't care how you do it, because it's your deal," she stated with a smirk playing on her lips.

"Sure, darling. You will not have to worry about it, in fact you will never have to worry about anything from now on," he said affectionately.

"So we meet in the wedding tomorrow," she asked, leaning closer to Arnav, into his natural warmth.

"Yes. Till then," Arnav captured her lips in a frenzy kiss, which soon turned into gentle expression of love. Placing a chaste kiss on her forehead, he moved away from her.

"Good night, Khushi," he murmured, his body already craving for his love in his arms.

"Good night, Arnav," she said, as he nodded and turned around to leave.

"Arnav," she called, making him turn around.

"I love you," she whispered and signed for the last time that night.

"Love you too," he signed back along with a flying kiss.

The light from the lanterns made their glisten and frost made their eyes tear a bit, making them gleam. Their eyes mirrored each other as they forsake each others' company for the night to fall into the company of sleep, which seemed to run away from them.

That night two lovebirds were completely sleepless, only if they knew that it was the first of many sleepless nights to follow.

Author's Note

I think every person reading this fiction knew that this was my most favorite fiction of mine. The story started off as a take from the Life OK show 'Mere Rang Mein Rangne Wali' but it turned out to be completely different from what the show stood for. I am quite proud of that actually.

The response for the fiction was overwhelming. Off late, the response has been dry but that can be accounted to lack of updates. Blame: AD.

Thank you so much for the beautiful response I received on this fiction. It has been amazing and I hope to see more of it coming. And the story is not over. A part of the story is over.
