- | Chapter Six | -
His heart plummet as she opened the door and look at him, her eyes void of any kind of emotions, scared him. The emptiness in her brown orbs left an ache in his heart.
Taani look at her son who was asleep his fathers arms then she shifted her gaze to him.
"You are late." Taani reminded him.
"Ari wasn't ready to leave the room." Rey murmured. He wasn't liking the way she was acting around him,but the does he had any right to complain when he never treated her well?
But then, during that time, he wasn't close to anyone. He was distanced from his family as well after alisha's accident. He was living with his own loneliness and losing someone close to him, he didn't had in him to welcome to a new person in his life when all he wanted, was to drown himself in memories of his love.
"Where can i make him sleep?" Rey brushed his thoughts aside and asked his wife.
"Come with me." Taani muttered under her breathe. She turned around and walked upstairs while he followed her silently.
They walk inside her room, Rey walked over the bed and his son lay down then covered him with blanket while making sure not to disturb his sleep since arhaan was tired after playing whole day. He placed a soft kiss on his head before he got up and turned to his wife.
"I hope you have had your food and taken medicines-" Rey look at her hopefully.
"I had. Now you can leave." Taani replied to him.
"Can we talk, please?" Rey stepped close to her but she took a step back.
She has finally succeed in going away from him, bearing the pain of separation. She won't let him have control over her heart once again and broke it into pieces again.
"I am certainly surprised to know that you have so much time to waste over an arrogant, selfish girl like me when you can make better use of it by baby sitting your ex." Taani taunted him, to cover her own pain she sometimes lose control over herself and spat out some hurtful words at people who matters to her.
She wanted to hide her vulnerability from him. She doesn't want him to see who weak he had made her. She doesn't want him to see her deepest wounds. Because it will hurt her more to see him turning away from her. He doesn't care.
"I didn't brought her home, if you are wondering." Rey told her.
"Should that make me happy?" She scoffed. She couldn't bring herself to care about anything else, her own pain was too big to look past it. Her pain wasn't limited to just herself. Her children were also suffering which was the worst thing for a mother to witness.
"Taani, why are you being so difficult?" Rey sighed, to calm his anger which wasn't good if he looked at the situation he was in. His anger has never done any good to their relationship and it was no hidden fact.
"Oh really? But i was being what i am. Rude. Arrogant. Selfish. The girl you described me to be ever since we have got married." Taani replied back. She raised her one eye brow at him while he looked away, knowing she was speaking truth.
"If you were expecting i will come back and help you to look after your ex while being an ideal wife, then you are wrong. I am not a mahaan patni nor i will pretend to be one to please you." Taani added further and look at him with fury visible in her beautiful brown orbs.
"I never asked you to do that nor i expect anything like that from you." Rey replied back to her in calm tone.
"Good for you because i am not coming back." Taani smiled sarcastically. She turned around in a jiffy moment to walk but stopped, her head spin and she lost her balance as she felt dizzy.
A wave of panic hit him. He rushed toward her and wrapped his protective arm around her waist, he pulled her up into him to prevent her from falling down.
"Damn! Are you alright, taani?" Rey asked her concernedly. Rey scooped her in his arms and made her lay down on the bed. He poured some water in a glass and made her drink some.
"Yea! I am alright." Taani mumbled. She closed her eyes and lay back while taking deep breathes to calm her ragged breathing.
"Are you sure? Should i call doctor?" Rey asked her. She could feel his worry and concern which she thought to be for the baby growing inside her.
"No need to call doctor. I am fine." Taani answered him.
Rey gave a small nod in return. He sat on the edge of the bed hesitantly, his eyes were gleaming with worry. He let his gaze roam over her before it settled on her belly.
He hesitated. He lifted his hand and placed his palm on her belly gently while fearing she might reject his touch but when she didn't, a sudden happiness seeped through him. He could feel her curious stare on him.
Rey bend down and kissed her belly, where their baby is growing.
Taani closed her eyes as a lone tear escaped her eye.
No matter how hard she try to stay away from him, a thread is binding her to him forever.
Their children. The thread that connect her to him.
"Rey, leave." Taani opened her eyes and look at him with tearful eyes.
"Please." She added emotionally. The emotional baggage was too much to bear. She wanted some space from him & his memories.
And he respected her wish. He got up and left from there but not before telling her to take care of herself.
