Chapter 3

The appraisal day

Captain Rajveer exits his room and as he turns after locking the door, he finds Naina standing there dressed up in her proper uniform, this takes him by surprise as he didn't expect her to be there or is it that he got tired of waiting for her and at last gave up, thinking that she won't come. And having concluded that, as soon as he exits the room, it takes him by surprise - her being present there?

"Cadet Naina Singh reporting Sir!",

she salutes him, like a true soldier.

Rajveer, though affected by her presence keeps his poker face on and without giving a reply he heads towards the main hall where they have been asked to assemble.

As he walks forth, climbing the stairs, Naina calls him from behind,

"Sir..!"

Irritated by her or by himself, he fails to understand, he turns, and scolds her,

"Ab kya problem hai?"

Naina getting habitual to his pissed off state since the last few days, doesn't mind his scolding her without any reason.

"Kyun mujhey baar baar tok rahi ho?",

he scolds further.

Naina avoiding his second scold too, says calmly,

"Apka collar!"

"Collar???",

he blurts, without even knowing what he is saying, that suddenly he realizes!

He looks heavenwards, cursing his lucks this day! And as he raises his hands to adjust it, Naina quicker than him reaches for his collar and starts adjusting it.

The sudden closeness comes as a surprise for Rajveer and creates a havoc. He gets transfixed at his position as if Naina has casted on Rajveer, some magical spell. He completely forgets where he is standing! Like seriously he is standing at the corridor in front of his room through which anytime, anyone can pass by. He has a hectic schedule further; he is about to assemble for appraisals and here he is with Naina, allowing her to adjust the collar as if it is her duty to do that!

As she adjusts the collar, her hand involuntarily brushes the back of his neck which sends shivers not only through Rajveer's spine but Naina's alike. Hearts of the duo pick up paces at the sudden skin to skin contact. Before Naina could understand what is happening, she finds herself into his room again!

After the initial shock, she realizes that she had been pulled by him back into his room and right now he is looking into her eyes, pinning her to the wall adjacent to the door of his room!

"Koi aa raha tha!",

says Rajveer, looking intently into her demanding eyes, demanding an answer as to why did he pull her like that?

Naina's brows relax as she gets the reply to her unuttered question.

"Tum kuch kar rahi thi... continue...",

orders Rajveer, politely.

(Slow Rajveer-Naina tune begins)

Naina feels her voice getting choked after hearing him talking to her politely after almost 48 hours or even more. She tries hard to hold back her tears. Rajveer senses her vulnerable state perfectly but chooses to keep the topic untouched. Rajveer realizes that she is taking more time than is required to adjust his collar. He doesn't protest, feeling guilty that he had been treating her impolitely when she wants nothing more than his own welfare.

After having completed with adjusting his collar, Naina looks towards Rajveer, who is already staring her.

"I know apka mood theek nahi hai; tensed ho, par please stay calm!",

she says, keeping her voice under check. Nervous, that he might get angry, she keeps her suggestion short.

What she fails to understand is, the nervousness he is feeling, can be calmed only by her presence in front of him. Rajveer smiles secretly at her innocence.

(Slow Rajveer-Naina guitar tune begins)

By the time Naina looks towards him to know his reaction to her words, he plasters the seriousness again on his face. Nodding his head a little, he stares her. He realizes that she is looking puzzled, nervous. But he doesn't understand the reason. He knits his brows, looking towards her. Naina with her eyes gestures how his standing in front of her is prohibiting her to move. On getting realized, Rajveer blushes, closing his eyes. Naina smiles out of relaxation on seeing him smiling at last. Knowing that that smile is on her account makes her all the more happier. Rajveer gets away and looking at her with that look in his eyes that reflects his innermost feelings, he turns and leaves for the main hall, looking heavenwards, cursing himself for doing what he just did!

All the faculty members and the cadets gather in the main hall, standing in an attention position, opposite each other, facing each other. While they wait for the supervisors to approach, all the cadets through their gestures motivate their team faculty member.

As Naina looks towards Rajveer, she finds him standing confidently erect. Knowing that he is not in best of his moods today, a mischievous idea pops up in her mind. The naughty smile on her face drags Rajveer's attention.

(Rajveer-Naina happy guitar tune begins)

Rajveer knits his brows as he finds her smiling without any reason weird. Or wait is there indeed some reason to laugh? When that mischievous smile is indicated towards him, that means he is looking funny somehow which is making her to laugh. And the smile is just a measure to control her fit of laughter. Rajveer checks himself out, trying to move minimal. On finding everything appropriate, he gets confused. Knitting his brows he looks towards her. Shutting her eyes, laughing silently, Naina shakes her head in a slow pace. As she opens them, she finds him glaring her. His sweet glare does amazing things to her insides. Sweet, because she knows whatever it is he would never hurt her by any means.

(Rajveer-Naina piano tune begins)

They enjoy an eye lock, where his eyes turn dark. The possessive stare sends shiver down Naina's spine. She is trying to play games with him, here? Seriously? She is literally mocking at him? But deep down he understands that she is doing all this just to keep him calm. Knowing the fact makes his heart to skip a beat.

Soon the three supervisors approach and check their uniforms and ask them to introduce.

Having completed with test. One of the supervisors call Naina and asks her to announce the result. Picking up the register Naina faces everyone and the first person she looks towards on purpose is Captain Rajveer. But Captain Rajveer lowers his eyes, getting back to his prior annoyed self. Wanting Naina to gain confidence all by herself.

After the result gets announced where Dr. Shalini fails the test, the assembly gets dismissed and the teams head towards their next test.

To their utter bad luck, it starts raining and they were asked to assemble on the ground. But that doesn't mean they get spared from the test. Brigadier Chandok taking the initiative explains their test to them.

Sitting under a tree, completely drenched in the rain, all the cadets boost up their mentors. Chance by chance the mentors perform the drills. Knowing that he still has time for his chance to come, Rajveer walks towards a tree and sits under it's shade such that he is facing away from all.

Naina reaches him. Holding the bark of the tree, she looks down towards him. Rajveer takes a deep breath as he realizes her presence around himself.

"Thak gaye hain?",

asks Naina, concerned.

Closing his eyes he rests his head against the bark of the tree, ignoring her. Naina ignores his ignorance.

"Glucose dun for quick energy?",

asks Naina, smiling nervously.

"Nahi!",

comes his curt reply, his eyes still shut.

"Fruits then?",

Naina tries again.

Taking a deep breath out of frustration, Rajveer tells her, raising his voice,

"Maine naashta kiya hai Naina!"

Of course she knows that he has done his breakfast. In fact she kept a check that he gets a proper breakfast which he finishes completely.

"To kya chahiye apko?",

asks Naina, sweetly.

(Slow Rajveer-Naina flute tune begins)

Her question makes him to open his eyes and stare her. Naina's heart skips a beat as she witnesses the look in his eyes. She understands what that means. Her cheeks start warming up despite the rain pouring on her. Suddenly the shivering she was feeling moments ago because of the sudden change in weather, vanishes with in a blink of eyes.

Looking towards him nervously, she doesn't get surprised on discovering that he is still staring her. She sits on her knees, while his eyes follow her each movement. He keeps his heartbeat under control, waiting patiently for her move.

Naina with a heart beating at a great pace looks around nervously to make sure that no one is looking towards them. Having being assured, she looks towards Rajveer. Rajveer keeps staring her, never missing her any move. Slowly she bends down towards him such that their lips are inches apart. Rajveer's heart picks up pace too on finding her this close and knowing what she is about to do. Kissing in rain has always been his dream! Kissing Naina in rain has always been his dream! His dream is turning true today. And he is not forcing her by any means. It's completely her decision. As she was about to place her lips on his, her forehead bearing lines of nervousness and want! Rajveer smiles darkly and pulls her back by her hair.

Although the pull wasn't a hard one, but the sudden pull makes her to shout in surprise. But Rajveer places a hand on her mouth anticipating the cry of surprise! Naina stares him in horror as she realizes what she was about to do - she was about to shout. Rajveer laughs lovingly, his hand still covering her mouth.

Removing his hand, he assures her,

"It's okay!",

and looks away, giving her space to leave.

Placing her hand on his right cheek she forces him to look at her. Naina takes him by surprise as she places her soft lips on his. At first he doesn't react out of surprise but soon he starts reacting. They enjoy a slow lip lock.

Feeling shy on realizing what they were about to do, Naina blushes and lowers her eyes. Suddenly her heart skips a beat on thinking what he must have felt! She looks towards him nervously and finds lines of disappointment visible on his face.

Knowing that he is frustrated by what just happened between them, Naina chooses to lighten the tensed and awkward situation between them. Clearing her throat she asks enthusiastically,

"Mood theek ho gaya apka?"

This comes as a total surprise for him. Her words drag him out off his reverie. He lowers his eyes feeling guilty of having thought that way about her. Then looks back towards Naina - shocked and surprised!

"Tum iss tarah se mood theek karti ho subka?",

asks Rajveer.

This skips Naina's heartbeat. The smile vanishes within moments, exchanged by shyness and embarrassment on listen to his words.

"Main...",

she goes crimson red and finds herself at a loss of words.

"Main subke saath kyun...?",

she feels offended and looks away.

Rajveer realizes what he just said and feels guilty of having said that. As he tries to think what to say, he gets called for his turn.

Soon he positions himself on the ground, completely drenched. He looks one last time towards Naina, as if she is the one who boosts his energy up. As he looks towards her, he finds her staring him and by the look on her face, he understands that she is still feeling those words that got exchanged between them moments ago. He realizes that she could feel what he was trying to convey; the blushed cheek, the possessive stare tell him all about her current state. Taking all of it as an encouragement, he focuses on his goal ahead. Brigadier Chandok shoots the gun and he starts with his drill.

Facing all the obstacles on his way, he continues with the task. While all this, Naina sits there with her eyes glued on to Captain Rajveer; her fingers crossed; praying silently that he completes the task within time and doesn't face any failure by any means. By failure she doesn't mean failing the test only, but he doesn't get injured too. The smile and blush of joy on his completion of each obstacle, on Naina's face is worth a look.

Soon he reaches an obstacle where he needs to choose the steps appropriately to escape from any blast. Major Nayyer realizes that this is the correct moment to make him to fail the test takes over the control system of the blasts. He chooses to blast the bombs in a manner that kills all the willpower of Captain Rajveer and hence with the last blast, he falls down!

All the faculty members and cadets, especially Naina stand up together tensed, nervous, concerned for Captain Rajveer. His cadets boosts him up, shouting,

"Come on Sir!"

Naina remains quiet, praying silently for him to complete the task without getting hurt further. All the encouragements work as a magic and Captain Rajveer, though almost crawling, succeed in touching the finish line but almost faints as he touches the line. With his last drop of consciousness remaining, he looks towards Naina to see her feeling victorious. What he discovers is a smile which is a combination of happiness on getting victorious and sadness-nervousness on seeing Captain Rajveer in the injured state. Her concern brings a little smile on his face. Her feeling of pride in him, rejuvenates Captain Rajveer and with all his energy, he gets up, standing on his feet. All his cadets, although not his team members, feel the joy of the moment, as their dear Rajveer Sir succeeds in completing the task in time. Not only this, another victory that comes to Captain Rajveer is the fact that he completes the task the fastest of all!

Although not winning themselves, his favourite bunch of cadets shout in joy and run to Captain Rajveer on hearing that he won this battle. Brigadier Chandok smiles and feels proud of his student Captain Rajveer! While all his five cadets celebrate his victory by shouting in excitement, there Naina though reaching them maintains a distance from him. Rajveer notices how she is hesitating to reach him. He keeps the matter for later to deal with.

Chapter 4

After returning back to their respective rooms, few teachers choose to take rest; while few practice for performing well the next day. All the cadets go to their respective team member and boost them up to perform well the next day.

In his room, removing his shoes and socks, Captain Rajveer checks out his wound, exhausted. He chooses to change first and then going to Dr. Shalini for getting his wound bandaged.

As he was about to get up, his eyes fall on Naina who is standing by the door of his room.

(Slow Rajveer-Naina guitar tune begins)

The first thought that comes to their minds is the last conversation they had.

'Tum iss tarah se mood theek karti ho sabka?'

'Main... Main subke saath kyun?'

The thought makes him to feel guilty, all over again.

Taking a deep breath Naina enters the room. Rajveer never ends staring her. Closing the door behind, Naina, nervously walks towards him, holding a first aid box in her hands.

As she was about to reach him, his words arrest her at her place,

"Kis haq se tum bina knock kiye mere room mein ayi?"

(Fast Rajveer-Naina revolt tune begins)

They stare each other. Their eyes burning into each other. Naina's heartbeat picks up pace, as she regrets not knocking before entering the room.

"Apne kis haq se wo sub socha?",

comes Naina's bold reply.

He secretly accepts - even in the state of tension and anxiety, she succeeds in relaxing him by her bold replies to him, which he enjoys thoroughly.

Her curt reply stitches his mouth. Taking it as a cue, Naina enters the room. Though nervous, Naina tries to fake her confidence.

"Ahmmm... apko change kar lena chahiye pehle. You'll feel more relaxed!",

she suggests.

Lowering his eyes, Rajveer nods his head into affirmative. As he proceeds towards getting up, he indicates or rather warns with his hand - not to help him, as he anticipates her help coming.

Arching a brow, with an naughty smile stretching on her face, Naina gestures with her eyes,

'What? I am not helping you!'

This situation turns Rajveer crimson red which in turn amuses Naina but she hides her amusement from him, afraid that he might get angry, already he is not in his best mood.

Thoroughly embarrassed, Rajveer chooses to ignore looking towards Naina and slowly creeps towards his cupboard. Naina's heart clenches on seeing him limping but she hides her emotions, knowing that it would hurt him, seeing her hurt.

As he returns back after changing, wearing a pink top and blue trousers. He sits on the bed and lets Naina to take over.

The realization that even after a heated argument; getting scolded by him, Naina boosted him during the drill makes him feel sorry for her that she had to face his anger. But he chooses to remain quiet.

Unable to bear the prevailing awkward silence between them, Naina takes the initiative to start a conversation. She first chooses to gauge his mood.

As she looks towards him, Rajveer coincidentally chooses too to look towards her at that moment, hence they enjoy a short eye contact. Naina lowers her eyes immediately as she wasn't prepared for the eye contact. Her heart skips a beat. Rajveer continues staring her, his eyes dark with want. He notices how she takes a deep breath to relax herself down. After a hectic day, he is certainly enjoying her presence around himself. Thankfully they have no one around, this way he can stare her as much he wants. About her denial, he knows she would have no problem even if he stares her the whole day long!

"Ahmm... appraisals khatam hone ke baad main kuch din ke liye ghar ja rahi hun!",

says Naina, avoiding to look towards him knowing that the expression on his face won't be in her favour!

And that's exactly what happens! The moment he hears this, he looks towards her, shocked!

"Ghar? Kyun?",

comes his immediate query.

Naina doesn't get surprised by his possessiveness but Rajveer himself does! Feeling guilty and shy, he lowers his eyes and rectifies,

"I... I mean... exams bhi shuru hone waley hain... don't you think you should stay and attend your classes?"

"Ahmm... exactly. Exams shuru hone wale hain, sub subjects ke courses almost complete ho chukey hain. So ghar jakar shanti se parh sakungi. Yahan rahungi to mind distract hi hota rahega!",

having said that Naina looks towards Rajveer. He stares back. None of them fails to understand which particular distraction she is pointing towards.

(Rajveer-Naina slow guitar tune begins)

Knowing that there is no point of argument with her, Rajveer accepts her decision silently.

"Lemme know kab ja rahi ho. I'll drop you",

he proposes.

On listening to this, Naina stares him and wonders is he the same person who was shouting at her hours ago; avoiding her like anything?

"I'll manage!",

she says, her voice low.

Looking towards her, giving a warning look, he says,

"Maine kaha na main le jaunga, I'll drop you! Or do you have any problem mere tumahare saath chalne se?"

Naina lowers her eyes and shakes her head into negative.

Rajveer sighs in relief.

Hesitantly, Naina asks,

"Ek baat puchun?"

Rajveer looks towards her. His expressions give her the signal to ask. Lowering her eyes, she asks,

"Kya main such mein ek ziddi, arhiyal behn bann gayi hun?"

Her question clenches his heart. Shutting his eyes, he inhales the air deeply. Opening them, he looks back towards her.

"Naina... I...",

Rajveer begins to say but fails to form a proper line out of hesitation and shyness.

Taking a deep breath, he tries again,

"Main tumhe hurt nahi karna chahta tha Naina but...",

he requests, frustrated,

"Naina please meri baat samajhne ki koshish karo!"

Nodding her head into affirmative, she says,

"I understand!",

and looks towards him.

(Slow Rajveer-Naina tune begins as they stare each other)

"Waise I am glad apne apna decision nahi badla!",

saying that, Naina looks towards him. Rajveer chooses to look towards her at the same moment.

(Rajveer-Naina flute tune begins)

Staring her still, he asks,

"Maine to apna faisla nahi badla, par kya tum badal sakti ho... apna faisla?"

At first Naina knits her brows, unable to understand which decision is he pointing towards. Then suddenly she realizes, and her cheeks turn deep shade of red.

"Ahmm... mera jana zaruri hai!",

she says, lowering her eyes.

Rajveer smiles sarcastically, lowering his eyes.

It hurts Naina!

"Main sochungi...",

she confesses softly.

This grabs Rajveer's attention and he looks towards her.

(Slow Rajveer-Naina piano tune begins)

Naina applies the medicine on his injured foot and as she touches his foot to give him a massage, the heartbeats of both skip a beat each! Their breathing become shallow. This is the first time she is touching him intimately, other than shaking hands with him, she has hardly touched him. He though has touched her. The most vivid memory being the time when she fainted and he carried her in his arms all the way to Dr. Shalini's infirmary.

The sudden stretching of the nerves of his foot tells Naina that he is being affected by her touch as much as she is getting affected by touching him!

Rajveer keeps staring her, while Naina keeps her eyes transfixed on his foot, nervous to look towards him, knowing that his eyes are constantly on her. The nervousness delays the process of medication which gives Rajveer more time to remain in her proximity; enjoying her presence.

After having completed with the medication, Naina takes his leave. Rajveer stares her, Naina stares back.

(Slow Rajveer-Naina tune begins)

Lowering her eyes she turns and leaves with a throbbing heart and mind filled with havoc. Rajveer's state is no better!

Chapter 5

Next Morning

After getting ready, Naina reaches the mess and finds Huda and Yudi indulged into a light argument. Naina hears their argument whilst taking her seat in the mess. Pooja and Ali wave their hands at her, Naina smiles.

Alekh reaches him and challenges her,

"Naina ye to Rajesh par dau laga raha hai. Kya bolti hai, tu shart lagayegi?"

Naina thinks about it and with full confidence, she puts her condition,

"Theek hai!"

"Lekin agar Captain Rajveer jeete, to tu ek hafte tak daaru nahi peeyega!"

Alekh thinks about it, staying away from his daily doze is surely going to be difficult. But this is what we call challenge, right? Showing the sportsman spirit, Alekh accepts,

"Theek hai!"

Listening to it, Naina looks away to her front. Meanwhile Alekh puts his condition,

"Aur agar Captain Abhimanyu jeete, to tu ek hafte tak Captain Rajveer se baat nahi karegi!"

This comes as a shock for Naina! She looks towards him, the prior smile on her face vanished! All their friends noticed the exchanges between Alekh and Naina. Alekh and Naina were also aware about their attention on to them.

Huda arches a brow as he feels confident that Naina would never be able to do that!

Pooja teases her,

"Nahi Naina, tu aisi shart mat laga. Tu aisa kabhi nahi kar payegi!"

Turning to look towards Pooja, Alekh winks, smiling naughtily.

Realizing that they are testing her; teasing her, Naina accepts the challenge confidently,

"Done!",

smiling challengingly, arching a brow.

~*~*~

Captain Abhimanyu succeeds in winning the next challenge while Captain Rajveer loses it.

Then comes the next challenge where the competitors get served a mysterious drink. The last one to survive the drink wins.

Captain Rajveer and Captain Abhimanyu remain for the last round. Major Nayyer plays a cruel game and mixes poison in Captain Rajveer's drink which Captain Rajveer fails to tolerate for long and falls unconscious on the floor.

Naina along with Huda and Alekh run to help him. While they carry Captain Rajveer to the infirmary, Captain Abhimanyu though willing to go along to make sure that Captain Rajveer is fine, stays to complete the last round.

The last battle between Captain Abhimanyu and Dr. Shalini ends soon as Dr. Shalini fails to tolerate the drink for long.

In the infirmary

An anxious and tensed Naina asks Huda,

"Huda, Sir theek to ho jayenge na?"

"Phoolan tu tension mat le Sir theek ho jayenge",

assures Huda, although nervous himself.

Dr. Shalini though not in a good state herself, doesn't fail to do her duty. She does all the necessary treatments of Captain Rajveer. They realize that his drink contained something specific which was apparently missing in the drinks of others!

~*~*~

Soon Captain Rajveer gets shifted to his room.
Dr. Shalini gives information about the current state of Captain Rajveer to Brigadier Chandok.

Reaching his room, Dr. Shalini instructs Naina,

"Cadet Naina, keep a watch on him. Aur agar zaruratparhe, don't hesitate to call me okay?"

Huda asks Dr. Shalini, hesitantly,

"Ma'am Sir kalke test mein part..."

Dr. Shalini understanding his unuttered words, tells him unwillingly,

"No cadet! Kalkenahi but uske next waley mein lepayenge!",

smiles Dr. Shalini, sadly.

As she leaves, Huda assures Naina, that he'll stay along with her and Captain Rajveer. But Naina refuses politely, knowing that he has a test next day and needs rest. And knowing that Captain Rajveer won't perform the next day, Naina doesn't care even if she doesn't get adequate rest. Accepting her decision unwillingly, Huda leaves.

Jarring the door behind him, removing her shoes, Naina climbs up Rajveer's bed and adjusts the quilt properly on him.

Sitting properly next to him, she takes her hand towards his forehead to rest it there, in concern. But the situation persisting between them; the hesitation; his anger; his frustration, tend to become a barrier. She takes away her hand without touching his forehead.

Where on one hand, her heart cries to feel him; to feel that he is indeed there with her, though unconscious, yet there; there on the other, her mind warns her how this is unethical. First she is going to stay here with him the whole night long and then she is thinking about touching him; feeling him?

Her heartbeat picks up pace as her mind and heart have a constant battle of whether to touch him without his permission or not!

But who is basically there to catch her touching him? And why is she feeling nervous or ashamed? She of course is not going to touch him inappropriately! No she would not even think about him that way! Or wait... is it that she is thinking that way???

What exactly is going on in her mind?

(Slow Rajveer-Naina guitar tune begins)

Naina takes back her hand without touching him and places them on her lap. Her rate of heartbeat picks up pace out of frustration. She clenches and opens her hands, resting on her lap in quick succession out of nervousness.

Staring him, she mummers, frustrated,

"Kyun itni nervous ho rahi hun main? Pehle to kabhi apko chuney mein nervousness nahi feel ki!"

As soon as she mutters this question, her heart skips a beat as a realization dawns on to her. The realization that there is a difference between those moments and this! There is a difference in the relationship she shared with him back then; and now!

Unable to bear this emotion; her state, she tries to divert her mind by thinking about something else. But how can she help herself when her everything revolves around either her brother Naveen or her Sir - Captain Rajveer? She tries to think about Naveen. But the moment she drifts her mind from Rajveer, she becomes restless. She ends up giving up the idea of diverting her mind off him.

She looks towards sleeping Rajveer and she doesn't realize when a smile creeps up on her face. She feels a certain kind of satisfaction by realizing the fact that he is sleeping soundly and that too in her presence. Only if she could get the pleasure of seeing him sleeping soundly each night! Wait, where does this thought come from? Why does she want to see him sleeping, each night?

Shutting her eyes, she shakes her head in order to clear out her mind. Slowly, she places her left palm on his forehead, feeling his forehead and realizes that high temperature is running through him.

Getting panicked, she quickly gets up and fills a glass bowl with cold water and takes a cloth to cool his temperature down. Dipping the cloth into the cold water she places it on his forehead nervously, praying under her breath that the temperature goes away quickly.

Her eyes well up and a shiver runs down her spine as she realizes how much under pressure he is, still he tends to keep everything to himself. Although they share the relationship of mentor and protegee, still why doesn't he trust her enough to share his problems with her? As soon as she thinks about this, pissed off, her whole demeanour changes as yet another realization dawns on to her - when has she given him chance to talk about his problems? When has she ever stopped blabbering about her problems in front of him?

She feels ashamed of her behavior.

Soon she feels his temperature dripping down. A sad smile comes on her face, the fact that he is still not perfect refrains her from smiling with all her heart. Tired, she gets up, careful that she doesn't wake him up by any means. Walking towards the window of his room, Naina stands leaning at the wall just adjacent to the window and looks out of window. Feeling the cool breeze on her face, she remembers few moments that she has spent with Rajveer till date. His smile; his laughter; his jokes; his teases, bring a smile on Naina's face. Her heart flutters. Soon her mind drifts to the moments when their relationship had gone through a rough patch. Her face falls thinking about those moments.

She turns to look towards him!

(Slow Rajveer-Naina tune begins)

She wonders she is here with him tonight to look after him, but who had been looking after him all these times when he didn't even know about her existence in this world and she of his?
She gets tensed thinking about it. Something inside her, makes her to say, although silently,

'Ab main apke saath hun! Aap akele nahi hain! Main apko kabhi akela mehsus hone nahi dungi!'

As she ends up thinking this, she suddenly feels why is she thinking that way? Why does it matter to her this much, his welfare? She fails to get the answer of her own confusion, or rather she avoids to head towards the right direction, fearing to face the real answer. Deep down she knows, just that she doesn't want to acknowledge it, yet!

As her mind was busy thinking all this, she hears her name being called. Knitting her brows, getting out of her reverie, she tries to figure out who is calling her, as the sound remains unclear.

As her mind focuses, it doesn't take her moments to figure out that it's her Rajveer Sir's voice!

Quickly, she reaches him to check on him. The moment she reaches him, she hears him murmuring his name,

"Naina...!"

"Haan Sir!",

says Naina, out of panic.

But she notices that he is constantly repeating her name. She realizes that he is still sleeping, not fully conscious. He is murmuring her name in his dreams. Chills run down her spine as she realizes that one mummers the name of someone in his dream for two reasons - either because he hates that person a lot or ... she cannot bring herself to think of the other reason. Her heart skips a beat!

"Main yahin hun Sir apke paas...",

she tries to make him realizes, although she doubts he is able to hear her but nevertheless she keeps repeating, out of anxiety.

She holds his right hand in her right hand and with her left hand she rotates her hand on his head, to calm him down. Soon he stops murmuring and gets back to his deep slumber. Assuring herself that he is fine, Naina gets out of the bed. As she moves forth, away from the bed, his tight hold on her wrist refrains her to go ahead, forcing her to sit back with him.

She doesn't understand when she falls asleep with him, resting her head on his chest, around his heart. Rajveer in his sleep wraps his arm around her waist, pulling her to himself. Naina too in her sleep adjusts herself in his bed. The tiredness of a hectic day; along with the mental pressure of Rajveer's sudden withdrawal from her, takes a toll on Naina.

Next Morning

All the cadets and faculty members get up early and indulge in preparing themselves for the tasks of the day ahead.

Rajveer shuffles a little in his sleep and the realization of presence of someone around him wakes up his sixth sense, the sense of a soldier! He breaths deeply before opening his eyes. The familiar scent makes him to open his eyes with greater frequency than was required!

Slowly he turns to assure himself that it is really happening and this is not yet another of his dreams that he has been seeing lately, Rajveer widens his eyes out of shock, on discovering Naina sleeping next to him and that too in such a position such that his arm is wrapped up around her waist possessively.

After the initial shock, his stare towards her, turns dark.

(Rajveer-Naina flute tune begins)

He takes pleasure in noticing her beautiful features from so close, something he had only dreamt about. He notices her eyes, though closed, but a smile stretches on his lips as he visualizes how beautiful they look when she stares him. All those feelings that they reciprocate through their eyes, come rushing back to him, hence making him to blush. Slowly his mind travels to the possibility that if she would have been awake, how they would have stared each other. Having thought that, a frown comes on his face, as he realizes that had this been the case, she wouldn't have come this close to him at first place!

Naina senses someone's eyes on her and opens her eyes immediately. Finding him staring her skips her heartbeat! Her sudden awakening skips his heartbeat too! None of them takes any measure to end the eye contact.

None of them realizes when Naina's shirt gets pushed up a little, unconsciously, from behind where Rajveer is holding her! Rajveer rubs the exposed part with his thumb, round and round, in slow rhythm, as he realizes it. The continuous rhythm builds a havoc in Naina's mind. But something in her, couldn't make her to stop him. This skin to skin touch forces her to incline towards him a little more. Rajveer adjusts a little, giving her space to get closer. They enjoy an eye lock.

(Rajveer-Naina flute tune continues)

The sudden knock at the door skips Naina's heartbeat and in her state of nervousness, she bends back unconsciously, Rajveer tightens his hold and pulls her little towards himself, escaping her from a fall, never ending the eye contact. Slowly he gets up, pulling her lightly with him. Sitting straight on the bed, Naina, feeling utterly shy, realizing what they just did, adjusts her dress and gets out of the bed.

"Naina??",

comes Dr. Shalini's voice from behind the closed door.

Naina getting out of the bed, turns to look towards Rajveer, making it sure that he is in a state to meet Dr. Shalini. Shaking his head a little, in affirmation, Rajveer assures Naina that he is fine, she can open the door.

As she opens the door, Dr. Shalini smiles at Naina and enters the room.

"How are you Captain?",

she asks, smiling, her voice low out of tiredness.

"I am recovering doc. How are you?",

asks Captain Rajveer, smiling.

Smiling, she jokes,

"I guess it is you who is under medication Captain!"

Captain Rajveer, smiles apologetically and lowers his eyes.

"Apka to test hai na doc? Fir aap iss waqt yahan?",

asks Captain Rajveer, concerned.

Cadet Naina looks towards Dr. Shalini, concerned too.

"Mere turn mein abhi time hai Captain. So I thought to check you up!",

smiles Dr. Shalini.

Whilst checking him up, Dr. Shalini asks Naina,

"Aj subah kitne bajey soyi tum Naina?"

This not only skips Naina's heartbeat but Rajveer's too!

Rajveer who is sitting on his bed, resting his back on the pillow, his legs stretched out, turns to look towards Naina, knitting his brows.

"Ahmmm... Ma'am wo..."

Naina's fumble assures Rajveer all the more that she didn't take adequate rest as she was indulged in taking caring of him. He stares her, all serious. Naina looks towards him nervously! Quickly she lowers her eyes.

(Slow Rajveer-Naina piano tune begins as Rajveer stares her)

"You know cadet, this is not good. You should not neglect your health for anything. I didn't expect this from you. You among all?",

says Dr. Shalini, looking towards Naina, disappointed.

Rajveer stares towards Naina too, disappointed. Dr. Shalini checks Captain Rajveer's blood pressure.

Naina keeps her head bowed down out of shame and nervousness.

"Waise mature banti firti hai, lekin jab khud ka khyal rakhne ki baat aye, to bachon se bhi battar ho jati hai ye!",

utters Captain Rajveer staring her with his eyes blazing with anger.

His each word reflects his anger and disappointment towards Naina.

Dr. Shalini and Naina don't fail to sense his concern for Naina behind his words. Rajveer doesn't refrain himself from scolding Naina in front of Dr. Shalini, because he knows, she understands everything!

Naina's cheeks turn deep shades of pink as she realizes how contrast the situations are! Just moments ago, his looks though intense were making her stomach to churn out of pleasure and now his angry glares are turning her legs jelly out of nervousness!

Sensing the sudden change in the atmosphere, a negative one, Dr. Shalini tries calm the situation down.

"Ahmmm... ahh... You know what I am sure Naina ab apke saath saath apna bhi pura khyal rakhegi. Right Naina?",

smiles Dr. Shalini, looking towards Naina, having completed with the check up.

Rajveer looks towards Naina too, all serious.
Naina fakes a smile and says in a low voice,

"Yes Ma'am!"

She looks towards Captain Rajveer nervously.

"But I must say Captain, Naina ne wakayi apka bohot khyal rakha hai. Isiliye to aap itni jaldi recover kar rahe hain!",

smiles Dr. Shalini, whilst placing her hand on Captain Rajveer's forehead to check his fever.

Rajveer and Naina enjoy a short eye contact, both serious.

Assured that he is fine, smiling, Dr. Shalini takes their leave.

As she leaves, closing the door behind, Rajveer asks Naina,

"Ye kya bachpana hai Naina?"

Not ready to accept being scolded like a child, Naina retorts back,

"Bachpana maine kiya ya apne kiya?"

"What?",

asks Captain Rajveer, shocked, what is she talking about?

"Bachpana? Maine? What the hell are you talking about?",

he asks further.

"Kal dekh rahi thi main. Aap achi tarah samjh rahe the that it was becoming too much for you to tolerate that drink. Par apne kya kiya? You continued drinking it until you fell down unconscious!",

she scolds him.

Rajveer looks at her, shocked. How does she know?

"Now don't you dare think - how do I know?",

she warns, pointing an index finger towards him.

"Aur isse pehle ke aap mujhse ye pucho main apko aise kaise dant rahi hun. So here's the answer... HAQ SE dant rahi hun apko! Because I..."

(Fast Rajveer-Naina revolt tune begins)

Naina's eyes brim up with tears out of anger and frustration. She lowers her eyes out of frustration.

Rajveer keeps staring her. His cheeks start burning as he realizes what she was about to say.

Shutting his eyes, taking a deep breath, he calls her to him lovingly,

"Idhar aao!"

Naina doesn't move an inch out of anger.

"Naina idhar aao!",

Rajveer raises his voice, as frustration and anger start surging through him on witnessing her denial.

Slowly, Naina walks to him, ignoring to look towards him.

"I am sorry!",

comes his immediate, straight forward and innocent apology.

Naina looks towards him, her eyes turn soft. They enjoy an eye lock.

(Slow Rajveer-Naina piano tune begins)

Suddenly she remembers something, and says,

"Ek shart par maaf karungi apko!"

"Shart?",

asks Rajveer, knitting his brows, surprised.

"Kaisi shart?",

he asks, puzzled.

"Agar aap meri ek baat ka such such jawab denge to!",

Naina puts her condition in front of him.

Rajveer gets nervous thinking what possibly could she ask? Not having other option except, accepting her condition, he nervously says,

"Haan pucho!"

His acceptance, skips Naina's heartbeat.

Slowly she asks,

"Kya apne kabhi mujhey sapno mein dekha hai?"

This comes as a surprise for Rajveer. He lowers his eyes, feeling guilty. Naina's heart clenches as he lowers his eyes, thinking - why is he feeling guilty about it? She waits for him to look back towards her. He soon looks back towards her, sending his apologies through his eyes.

Naina lowers her eyes, disappointed on getting his apology.

"Ahmm... main apke liye soup bana kar lati hun!",

saying that she leaves for the mess ignoring to look towards him.

"Naina tum soup mere kitchen mein bana sakti ho!",

he suggests her on purpose, to know her choice, hence her mood.

Without turning to look towards him, Naina replies,

"It's okay Sir, main mess mein hi soup banane ko keh dungi aur apke liye lene aney ko keh dungi".

"Kyun tum khud kahin busy ho?",

asks Rajveer, as she walks forth. His words arrest her at her place.

Knowing that he is taunting her on purpose, she too doesn't fail to reply him back,

"Haan bohot busy!"

Having said that as she was about to leave without waiting to listen to his reply, his words arrest her at her place,

"Agar mujhey koi haq nahi hai tumhe chuney ka, to tumne kis haq se mujhey chua?"

(Fast Rajveer-Naina tune begins as Rajveer stares Naina without blinking his eyes. Waiting for her to react)

At first Naina goes speechless, she doesn't turn back to look towards him. Then she says, taunting,

"Should I apologize?"

Rajveer clenches his hand out of anger. Naina turns to look towards an angry Rajveer. Turning around she leaves.

~*~*~

After sometime she returns back to his room. As she reaches in front of the door of his room, she takes a deep breath, anticipating a further argument. Getting inside the room, she finds him sitting on the sofa arching his head behind. His left leg rested on his right knee. He seems to be tired and unwell. His state clutches Naina's heart. But making up her mind that she would stay enthusiastic in front of him, she plasters a smile on her face. Reaching him, taking her seat next to him, she places her left hand softly on his upper arm; while with her right hand she holds the soup.

Feeling her soft hand on his arm he sighs audibly in relief. Naina's heart skips a beat as she realizes that instead of getting him angry; her presence is soothing him.

Slowly he opens his eyes and looks towards her and accepts the soup bowl from her.

As he mixes the soup to cool it down and was about to have it, Naina holds him by his wrist, refraining him from having it.

(Slow Rajveer-Naina flute tune begins)

Rajveer looks towards her in surprise, to know what's the matter.

Avoiding to look towards him, Naina fills a spoon with soup, blowing it to cool it, she takes it towards his mouth, ending up looking at him.

(Rajveer-Naina flute tune continues)

They stare each other for sometime and as Rajveer was about to have the soup from her hand, the knock at the door distracts him. Naina takes her hand back to get up and check who it is, but Rajveer refrains her from doing so, by holding her wrist.

Naina looks towards him in surprise. Staring her throughout, he haves the soup from her hand. He doesn't fail to notice her flushed up state.

Lowering her eyes out of shyness, she quickly gets up and walks towards the door to open it and finds Captain Abhimanyu standing there.

After asking about Raj's well being, he informs him that he is not participating the current drill. On asked by Rajveer the reason of his dropping out, Captain Abhimanyu tells him,

"Raj ye drill humare liye ek imtehaan hai"

Raj and Naina look towards him their full attention on Captain Abhimanyu.

"Ek jung hai jo hum khud se larh rahe hain"

Getting up he adds further,

"Hum khud ko prove kar dena chahte hain Raj, ki hum jeet sakte hain".

"Khud ko prove kar dena chahte hain ke if I put in my best; I can.be.the best! Chahey humare samne koi bhi khada ho!"

His words shock Naina and Rajveer. But Rajveer stays calm, his face expression gives nothing away while Naina knits her brows out of tension and fear. As for Rajveer, his constant mixing the soup, staring Abhimanyu throughout, tell how his words are not affecting him, as if he had anticipated such a reply from him!

"Ye ladayi kisi ko harane ke liye nahi hai Raj. Par khud ki nazar mein hum tabhi jeetenge, jab hum ye competition fairly aur squarely jeetenge"

"To jaldi se khadey ho jao Raj! Ye bimari-vimari ka bahana chor do! Ladayi ki taiyari kar lo. Kyunki ab, Abhimanyu tumhari band bajane wala hai!",

says Captain Abhimanyu with full confidence in his voice, and winks.

Naina stares him, shocked. Captain Abhimanyu leaves the room.

As Captain Abhimanyu leaves, Naina senses the tensed environment prevailing in Captain Rajveer's room. Realizing that in his state of unwell, he should not stress himself, she chooses to lighten his mood.

Clearing her throat, smiling, she says,

"Chaliye acha hai, meri baat na sahi kam se kam aap Abhimanyu Sir ki to baat manenge!"

Rajveer looks towards her, his plain expression justifies exactly whose words affects him more! Naina lowers her eyes, a blush creeps on her cheeks.

(Slow Rajveer-Naina happy tune begins as they stare each other)

"Naina main bus ye chahta hun ke Chauhan aur mere beech mein tamam differences kyun na aa jaye, humari dosti kabhi na tutey. Hum humesha se dost rahe hain aur humesha rahenge!",

saying that Rajveer looks towards her with sadness and tiredness in his eyes.

"Aisa hi hoga!",

assures Naina, placing her left hand on his upper arm.

"Jante hain kyun?",

she asks, while Rajveer keeps staring her lovingly though seriously.

"Kyunki dost khone ka matlab aap bhi jante hain; aur wo bhi",

says Naina.

Her words win Rajveer's heart all over again. He smiles lightly.

"Aaj bhaley hi wo raasta bhatak gaye hain, apse durr ho rahe hain; par wo Naveen bhaiya se durr kabhi nahi honge. Just like aap kabhi nahi honge. Aur Naveen bhaiya wo kadi hai jo aap dono ko kabhi ek dusre se alag nahi hone degi",

tells Naina, smiling.

Her each word touches his heart and his stare becomes all the more intense. Naina enjoys an eye lock with him.

"Ab aap ye soup finish kijiye tab tak main dekh kar aati hun ke baki sub kya kar rahe hain!",

smiling she gets up and walks towards the door.

Rajveer stares her throughout, lovingly, with a little smile on his face and an intense gaze. As she reaches the door, Rajveer calls her,

"Naina!"

Hearing her name through his voice, that too not Cadet Singh or Cadet Naina, rather direct 'Naina' skips Naina's heartbeat.

She turns to look towards him, fully flushed up and waits for him to complete what he wanted to say.

Never ending the eye contact, Rajveer thank her,

"Thanks!"

(Rajveer-Naina tune begins)

Smiling, lowering her eyes out of hesitation, Naina looks towards him the last time and leaves.

~*~*~

On the other hand the next test of other faculty members begin. Each and every faculty member, with their innovative ideas try to pass the test but Dr. Shalini becomes the only one to pass it.

~*~*~

Captain Abhimanyu happens to walk through one of the corridors when Naina calls him from behind,

"Sir!"

Hearing her voice, Abhimanyu smiles and turns to look towards her, by the time Naina reaches him too.

Smiling, he greets her,

"Long time, no see!"

Lowering his eyes, he says,

"Shayad aap bhi baki logon ki tarah bhul gayin ke hum bhi apke dost hain!",

smiles Abhimanyu, sadly.

Naina's heart skips a beat, as she feels guilty.

"Apko yaad hai, jab hum pehli baar aap logo se miley the to humne kaha tha - 'Jo humse dosti karna chahe wo humein Abhimanyu bula sakte hain. Aur jo humse formal rehna chahte hain wo humein Sir ya Captain bulayein. Aap Abhimanyu bulati thi, ab baki logo ki tarah Sir bulati hain!"

"Nahi a... aisi koi baat nahi hai!",

says Naina, hesitantly.

"Itne dino se main bus yahi soch rahi thi ke Captain Rajveer aur apke beech mein jo bhi tension hai... khaas kar Naveen bhaiya ko le kar wo... nahi honi chahiye...",

adds Naina, hesitantly.

"Ah... don't worry about it!",

assures Abhimanyu, smiling.

"Ye Raj aur humare beech ka mamla hai. Hum log sort out kar lenge!",

smiles Abhimanyu.

"Humne apse kaha tha na ye differences of opinions; ye arguments; ye competition, humari dosti ko tod nahi sakte. Bohot pakki dosti hai"

"Par Sir mujhey...",

Naina begins, but Abhimanyu interrupts her,

"A... no more 'par'. Relax!"

"Kya apne kabhi ye socha hai, ke hum kyun chahte the ke aap humein Abhimanyu bulayein? Kyun aatey hi hum apke dost bann gaye? Kyun har waqt apki madad karna chahte hain hum?"

Naina stares him, unaware of the answer.

"Uski sirf ek hi wajah hai Naina... Aap Naveen ki behn hai!"

Naina goes numb on hearing him.

"Aur Naveen humara bohot hi pyara; bohot hi kareebi dost tha...",

saying that he smiles and rectifies, shaking his head,

"Tha nahi, hai!"

This skips Naina's heartbeat.

"Naveen humara bohot hi pyara dost hai! Zindagi bhar rahega!"

"Aur jab hum apke chehre ko dekhte hain to humein Naveen ka chehra dikhta hai!"

Naina's eyes well up.

"Jab hum apki himmat ko dekhte hain to humein Naveen ki himmat yaad aati hai!"

"Apke jazbe mein humein Naveen ka jazba dikhayi deta hai"

Turning to look towards Naina, his own eyes welled up,

"Aur isiliye hum apse kehna chahte hain, ke baki sari baatein bhul jaiye aur sirf ek achi soldier baniye. Sirf achi hi nahi, subse achi soldier!"

Holding her by her upper arms he tells her,

"Kyunki aap mein wo sub guun hain"

Naina lowers her eyes out of hesitation.

Holding her hands, Abhimanyu motivates her,

"So forget about everything. Tumhe subse acha soldier banna hai Naina! Subse acha soldier!"

"Sirf ye yaad rakhiye, baki su...",

he says ending the eye contact.

Suddenly he rectifies,

"Ek baat aur mat bhuliyega!",

he requests, smiling a little.

Naina looks towards him and knits her brows, thinking what might it be!

Forwarding his hand he asks permission,

"May I...?"

Naina unable to understand what's he up to, smiles a little, out of doubt and shakes her head in affirmation.

He slowly, smiling, lovingly, rubs her tears off her face and pushes her skin around her lips a little from both the ends, as a gesture of making her smile. Naina smiles as he does that, Abhimanyu smiles along.

"Yunhi muskurate rahiye!",

smiles Abhimanyu.

Naina smiles back.

Captain Rajveer who happened to cross through the corridor catches Abhimanyu and Naina smiling at each other and Abhimanyu's last few lines. For the very first time in his life he hates Abhimanyu! At this moment it becomes difficult for Captain Rajveer to endure Captain Abhimanyu's presence.

Naina feels Rajveer's presence around herself. As she turns to look towards her right, she finds him standing there. Her sudden change in face expression; her suddenly getting serious, catches Abhimanyu's attention and he turns to look towards the direction she is looking and finds Raj standing there.

"Raj!",

addresses Abhimanyu.

Looking towards Naina, then towards Abhimanyu, all serious, he walks towards them.

"Raj aap yahan kya kar rahe hain? Apko to rest lena chahiye!",

suggests Captain Abhimanyu, feeling concerned.

"Thank you so much Chauhan Saheb for your concern, par room mein baitha-baitha bore ho gaya tha, socha bahar tehel lun thoda, shayad kuch interesting mil jaye!",

smiles Captain Rajveer, although his smile doesn't touch his eyes.

Looking towards Naina, faking a smile, he says,

"Kafi interesting cheez mil gayi yahan to!"

Naina's face turn red out of embarrassment as she senses his jealousy!

Smiling, Abhimanyu says,

"Hum bus aise hi Naina se zara baat kar rahe the".

Naina doesn't understand why she feels guilty for having talked to Abhimanyu in Rajveer's absence.

"Ahmm... I guess mujhey ab chalna chahiye",

says Naina, hesitantly, her eyes cascaded down, after stealing glances towards Rajveer.

"Arey if you wish you can join us for a cup of coffee!",

proposes Abhimanyu.

Rajveer looks towards Abhimanyu, then back towards Naina to know her decision. Jealousy surging through him. He of course wants her to decline the offer!

Chapter 6

In the evening

Reaching Rajveer's room, Abhimanyu walks to the bar and fills himself a glass of water and Raj walks towards the sofa. Whilst filling his glass, Abhimanyu says,

"Waise I must say, I am very impressed with Naina!"

His words succeed in dragging Raj's attention. He looks towards Abhimanyu. Jealousy surges through him yet again but he refuses to acknowledge. The smile on his face fades, but he refuses to acknowledge!

"Ahmm... bohot clear headed hai! Bohot focused hai!",

says Abhimanyu, smiling as he thinks about Naina.

Rajveer although bearing a constant smile, a fade one, on his face, controls his anger on hearing Abhimanyu's words.

The little smile on Raj's face doesn't let Abhimanyu to get acknowledged to the real feeling surging through Rajveer!

"I think she is your... best student!",

smiles Abhimanyu.

Smiling sarcastically, sarcasm which Abhimanyu fails to acknowledge, looking away on hearing his words, Rajveer walking towards the center table, and whilst picking up a pen from the table says,

"Haan Chauhan Sahab..."

"...yeah she is my...",

he continues, picking up the pen, thinking about Naina constantly.

Drifting his eyes towards the pen, he completes his line,

"Best cadet!"

Thinking something, he adds further,

"Lekin maine uske liye kabhi kuch nahi kiya!"

This drags Abhimanyu's attention.

"Usne jo kuch bhi kiya hai uska sara credit; uska sara shrey, khud Cadet Singh ko jata hai",

says Rajveer.

"Haan lekin meri pehchan, mere cadets hi hain, that's it!",

says Raj, looking towards Abhimanyu.

Abhimanyu smiles at this, looking towards Raj.

"Thanks Raj, humare saath kuch pal bitaney ke liye. I really needed this",

Abhimanyu shows his gratification towards Raj.

"Chauhan tum jante ho mere room ke aur mere dil ke darwaze tumhare liye humesha khule hain!",

reminds Raj, pleading Abhimanyu through his words to return back to him and end this war.

Lowering his eyes, smiling, Abhimanyu places the glass on the centre table. Looking towards Raj, still smiling, he walks to him. Holding him by both of his upper arms, he says,

"Raj, mere dost jung ek taraf aur dosti ek taraf. I told you mera tumse koi personal issues nahi hai. Ye meri khud se jung hai..."

"Aur iss jung mein kahin main apne dost ko na kho dun!",

says Rajveer, looking towards Chauhan, expectantly.

"Zindagi mein haar-jeet; khona-pana to laga hi rehta hai na Raj?",

smiles Abhimanyu.

Raj stares him.

"Chaliye ab hum chalte hain, next drill ki taiyari bhi karni hai. Kal band jo bajani hai apki",

winks Captain Abhimanyu.

Raj stares him, almost like glaring him.

Smiling, Abhimanyu extends his hand and says,

"All the best nahi kahoge dost?"

(Abhimanyu's tune begins in the background)

Rajveer doesn't react and glares him.

Smiling, Abhimanyu pulls back his hand.

While Captain Abhimanyu exits the room, Naina enters, hence they almost collide with each other. Rajveer doesn't fail to notice the change in Naina's and Abhimanyu's expressions. Where on one hand Naina looks flustered, in a dilemma about how to react - whether to smile politely or cascade down her eyes, there on the other hand Abhimanyu keeps his constant gaze on her, smiling throughout. Rajveer burns out of jealousy.

"Naina mere medicines de do please!",

he says, as Naina and Abhimanyu's stare becomes unbearable for Rajveer.

"Ahmm... jee Sir!",

says Naina.

Smiling hesitantly one last time towards Abhimanyu, Naina turns to give Rajveer the medicines.

Smiling, Abhimanyu leaves the room.

Nothing goes unnoticed by Rajveer. Jealousy hightens inside him.

(Rajveer-Naina revolt tune begins)

"Tum hairan thi na jab maine 'dushmani' ki baat ki thi? Dekh liya kya ho raha hai? Dekh liya Chauhan ka junoon?",

says Rajveer, pissed off. But what's exactly irritating him - Chauhan's sudden change in behaviour or his growing friendship with Naina, his Cadet Naina Ah Singh?

"Abhimanyu bhi apko apna dost mante hain, theek ussi tarah jis tarah aap mante hain unhe apna dost!",

Naina tries to make him understand. Rajveer looks towards her, his jealousy increases at her comment!

"Kuch hi palon mein kafi achi tarah samjh gayi ho tum Chauhan ko!",

taunts Rajveer, glaring her.

"Mujhse frankly baat karne mein tumne kafi waqt lagaya tha. Mujhey laga tha ki shayad ye tumhara nature hai, kisi par itni aasani se trust nahi karti!"

Naina's cheeks start warming up as she feels his each word!

Smirking, he adds,

"Ab to lag raha hai shayad mujh mein hi koi kami rahi hogi jo tum mujh par trust nahi kar payi!"

(Rajveer-Naina revolt tune begins as they stare each other - Rajveer out of anger; and Naina out of guilt)

"You know Naina what hurts me the most?",

asks Rajveer, his eyes cascaded down.

Naina's heart picks up pace as she anticipates something negative coming her way.

Looking towards Naina intensely, he says,

"Main apni ankhon ke samne tumhe khud se durr jatey hue dekh raha hun aur main kuch nahi kar pa raha!"

(Fast Rajveer-Naina tune begins)

Naina's heart clenches at hearing this. How can he even think this way?

"Main apse durr ja rahi hun?",

she asks, shocked, deeply hurt.

"Avoid aap mujhey kar rahe hain, aur aap keh rahe hain ke main apse durr ja rahi hun?",

asks Naina.

"Avoid Naina? Appraisals ke baad ghar tum jana chahti ho aur tum mujhse keh rahi ho ke main tumhe avoid kar raha hun?",

retorts back Rajveer.

(Rajveer-Naina revolt tune begins as they stare each other)

Suddenly they realize what they are doing, they are literally fighting like a pair; like husband and wife! Quickly they look away.

"I... I am sorry...!",

apologizes Rajveer.

"Ahmm... kal subah jaldi uthna hai, apki tabiyat bhi theek nahi hai, jaldi so jayiyega warna aap jaldi uth nahi payenge",

suggests Naina, her eyes cascaded down out of hesitation.

Rajveer looks towards her, feeling guilty but tends to remain silent.

(Slow Rajveer-Naina flute tune begins)

Looking towards him for the last time, when they enjoy an eye lock, where Rajveer through his that one look pleads Naina to come closer to him and Naina keeps her stand that she won't, Naina turns away, although unwillingly, and leaves.

~*~*~

Next morning in Captain Rajveer's room

Preparing his gun, Captain Rajveer all set for the test, explains Naina about the final test they are heading towards.

"Cadet Singh ye final test, faculty members ke sirf skills ka hi test nahi; balki ye faculty members aur cadets ke beech trust ka test bhi hai!",

explains Captain Rajveer.

"Tum par kisi bhi tarah ka pressure nahi hai. Agar tum chaho to opt out kar sakti ho!",

says Rajveer, earnestly.

"Haan agar uske bawajud bhi tum participate karna chahti ho to ek sawal khudse zarur puch lena...",

suggests Captain Rajveer.

"Kya tumhe mujh par bharosa hai?",

Captain Rajveer completes his line.

Turning to look towards Captain Rajveer, while Rajveer's back is turned towards her face, Naina instead of giving a direct answer, asks him,

"Apko yaad hai Sir, mentorship programme par janey se pehle apne mujhey apne room mein bulaya tha?"

*Flashback ends*

"Ab aap bataiye Sir, kya main aap par bharosa karti hun?",

asks Naina, dragging Rajveer out of his reverie.

(Rajveer-Naina happy tune begins)

Rajveer looks towards her with his twinkling eyes and heart filled with happiness on listening to her reply. Naina smiles too with all her heart, seeing him smiling.

Smiling, she, for his ultimate satisfaction, at last words her feelings,

"Mujhey aap par pura bharosa hai Sir!"

Her eyes reflect her confidence in him.

Smiling, with a content heart, he asks out of formality,

"Sure?"

Naina smiling, arches a brow, daring him to ask again. Rajveer blushes and lowers his eyes, which in turn makes Naina to blush.

"Well I guess, it's the show time then!",

he tells her, looking straight into her eyes.

"All the best!",

wishes Captain Rajveer, smiling, setting his pistol.

"To you too!",

wishes Naina, smiling confidently.

~*~*~

The final round starts after Brigadier Chandok explains the rules to all. One by one all pairs perform.

Soon Captain Rajveer and Cadet Naina's turn arrives. They set themselves in their alloted positions. Captain Rajveer prepares his gun. Inside he has been fighting with thousand demons since last night.

The conversation he had with Naina in his room wasn't to calm down Naina's nervousness! It was basically a measure to calm down his own nervousness! After the chat he did feel slightly better. He did get confidence that he can do this. But now that he has reached the ultimate destination; he can feel the nervousness surfacing his heart again. The nervousness which never actually died!

It is surprising how Rajveer and Naina are facing a role reversal! Normally it has always been Captain Rajveer who has been boosting Cadet Naina at the time of need of boost ups. But today Rajveer is seeking boosts from Naina's confidence in him; will power and determination to perform this test. Although secretly; but he indeed is trying to gain confidence by witnessing Naina's confidence.

The fact that she is trusting the man with her life whom she was accusing to be her brother's killer uptil a few days ago; gives him confidence. But that confidence is minor in comparison to the amount of guilt he is carrying in his heart, of killing her brother. But is this the only reason for his nervousness? Or is there some other reason?

Is it that he doesn't want to lose someone again by his own hands? Someone whom he trusts; someone whom he considers to be near to him; someone he loves?

The one who has secretly vowed to save Naina from all the cruelty of life; is standing in front of her with a gun pointed towards her! How can this keep him calm? What if he misses the shot and the bullet strikes Naina instead? What would he do?

He understands that Naina has immense trust in him. The trust and confidence they share, he has no doubt about it. The confidence in her eyes, tells it all. Not that he needed any proof! Her confidence breaks and mends Rajveer's heart, both at the same time. Breaks, because he gets nervous, will he able to respect her trust? Mends, because her confidence in him, gives him all the power he needs to complete this challenge successfully.

*Naveen's voiceover*

Aaj ye pal Rajveer ke liye bohot bhaari hai. Kyunki Naina uske liye sirf uske mritak dost ki behn hi nahi, balki usse bhi kayi zada hai!

Clearing his head, he focuses on his goal. He succeeds in shooting the first goal. Naina's confidence in him increases. Rajveer shoots the second apple too, perfectly. Naina of course didn't have any doubt about his expertise. Her smile of victory widens. Now he focuses on the third and ultimate goal - the apple placed exactly at the centre of her head. As he was about to shoot, he discovers that despite of pressing the trigger, the bullet didn't come out! Or is it that his nervousness is taking a toll on him?

He gives another try, and discovers, Naina smiling at him with full confidence in him, she closes her eyes, just to make him realize how strong is her confidence in him! How nothing can shatter her confidence in him!

Her immense trust in him, instead of giving him courage, makes him to feel nervous. Without much force, the moments when he gave freedom to Naveen, by pressing the trigger, comes rushing back to him. But when did he ever forget that? When has he gotten over it? When has that moment not haunted him, since that day?

His confidence in himself shatters a wee bit. He lowers his eyes. The proper visibility of his jawline makes it clear how he is fighting inside and resisting himself from doing a lot of things, only if anyone would have noticed; thought in that way! Only and only Rajveer knows what exactly is he going through at this moment.

His blinking of his eyes, more than required is yet another proof of his nervousness! At this moment, he must be regretting the fact that he has already skipped a drill and cannot skip another, unless he wants to fail this whole test! That of course he cannot do, because with this drill not only his future is attached, but Naina's too! He cannot let her fail on his cost. No! So skipping it is not even a choice here.

'Mujhey aap par pura bharosa hai!',

her words ring in his ears, increasing his rate of heartbeat.

Shutting his eyes, taking deep breath, boosting himself up; calming himself down, Rajveer opens his eyes and looks towards Naina. Naina who was getting a bit tensed on witnessing his nervousness, smiles as he looks towards her.

"Come on Sir!",

she mummers, smiling, her eyes twinkling with confidence in him.

Focusing back on his goal, he shoots...!!!

While all including Captain Abhimanyu and Brigadier Chandok were so sure that he wouldn't miss the shot as he is an expert in shooting; there they get surprised when Captain Rajveer misses the last shot!

Standing at her place, Naina removes the apple off her head, never meeting Rajveer's eyes, as if she could see it coming. Rajveer craved to look into her eyes, to know what she is feeling. He already is fighting with his demons. Is it necessary for her to make it more chaotic?

When he doesn't get a chance to meet her eyes, he turns around with a heart filled with guilt and regret.

Guilt, as the past haunts him again. And regret, that the only scope of feeling relaxed, has been snatched from him, as Naina refrains from looking towards her. Is she upset that they couldn't excel the round? Is she angry with him? Will she understand him? Or worst, has she understood something?

Rajveer stares her expectantly but she doesn't look towards him at all.

The lines of disappointment on his favourite teacher's failure, becomes visible in Brigadier Chandok's face. Naina throws away the apple in anger and leaves. Captain Rajveer takes his seat, ignoring to look towards a pissed off Naina.

As Rajveer sits, and dares to look towards Naina, hesitantly, he realizes that Naina is not present there at all.

(Fast Rajveer-Naina tune begins)

He does get tensed, knowing how she can behave childish sometimes, when in bad mood. His heartbeat picks up pace, but completely aware of everyone's presence around, he keeps himself under check, turning his right hand into fist and the left hand holding the handle of the chair he is sitting on, tightly.

At first he decides to stay and wait for her to return, she must be out to use the washroom. But whom is he consoling giving these useless reasons? He knows exactly how much pissed off she must be right now on him and is surely out there somewhere, stay away from all; especially from him!

But is it her fault if she is doing this? She has all rights to do it! She needs answers to her questions. She needs to clear out her mind. And all that, only he can do!

Out of frustration, Rajveer gets up.

Taking permission from Brigadier Chandok, he leaves, of course he has done with his turn, so his presence is not that important.

An angry, agitated Rajveer, walks towards the way through which Naina just left.

The sudden increase in the pouring of rain, drenches his uniform in no time!

(Rajveer-Naina revolt tune begins)

"Naina!",

calls out Rajveer, almost like shouting at her. The shout is not only out of anger and irritation on her but also because he needs to make himself audible over the sound of drastic rain pour.

Naina of course hears him calling her out but she is in no mood to stop. And as for other KMA members present at the ground, Rajveer and Naina are now far away from their ear shots and thanks to the rain that's prohibiting them all the more to hear what's going on between Captain Rajveer and Cadet Naina.

"Meri baat to sunno",

calls out Rajveer, thoroughly pissed off.

Till now Rajveer was at ease, he wasn't using the power of a soldier. He has always tried to keep those powers at bay when he is in KMA, especially around Naina. But this situation is going out of his control. Who the hell does she think of herself, for reacting so rudely to Captain Rajveer? But wait if not she so who has the rights to get angry with him? And whom exactly is he trying to stop right now - his protegee Cadet Naina or Naina?

As the thought strikes him, his descending steps towards her freeze! Sticking to his place, getting drenched thoroughly, he looks again towards Naina, but this time with a new realization. The realization succeeds in giving an adrenaline rush to him.

Looking towards a walking away Naina, in anger, Rajveer walks towards her again, at a soldier's speed. In no time he reaches her side. When Naina thinks that he would say something, whilst still walking, he surprises her as he holds her by her wrist, not caring to look towards her to know how hurt she must be right now. If she is hurt, then he is hurt too - thanks to her reaction!

Pulling her with him, his eyes blazing with anger, Rajveer walks towards a nearby tree as he assumes that he doesn't have patience to return back into the academy and into his room to question her, demand her the reason of her sudden change in behaviour towards her.

He pushes her towards the bark of the tree, as if he has full rights to do so with her. Had it been Pooja in place of her, would he dare to act so rudely to her? Despite the fact that she would have been his protegee?

(Rajveer-Naina revolt tune continues as they keep glaring each other, anger evident in both the pairs of eyes. But with Rajveer, it is at a higher magnitude!)

While Rajveer expects Naina to maintain the glare, Naina lowers her eyes. This frustrates him all the more.

"Meri taraf dekho Naina!",

he orders.

At first Naina tries to resist, but the pressure he puts on her wrists, makes it evident that he is not taking a 'no' from her, right now!

Naina looks back towards him.

"Tum mujhse dur kyun bhaag rahi ho?",

he demands, as if it's becoming insufferable for him, to see her going away from him.

"Aap jaan bujh kar harey na?",

demands Naina.

His hold on her hands relaxes a wee bit on hearing her. His knitted brows relax too.

(Rajveer-Naina revolt tune begins)

"Naina...",

he begins to explain something, but what, he himself couldn't comprehend. Hence he trails off the sentence, expecting that she would understand his situation, because that's really very important for her, to understand his situation!

Understand she does, hence a knot forms in her throat as she realizes that there is something which is bothering him.

"Kya aap mujhse kuch chupa rahe hain Sir?",

asks Naina, suspeciously.

This takes Rajveer by shock.

(Fast Rajveer-Naina tune begins)

Rajveer and Naina keep staring each other. Rajveer nervously as if he has been caught doing something offensive and Naina determined to get a reply from him.

"Aisi... aisi... koi baat nahi hai!",

says Rajveer, ignoring to look towards her, out of hesitation.

"Apko darr tha ke aap mujhey kho na de, jaise apne Naveen bhaiya ko kho diya. Right?",

her question takes him by surprise yet again.

Yes, no denial that it was also one of the reasons for his nervousness. But was it the only reason?

"Aap nervous hue ye soch kar ke itihaas firse khudko dohra raha hai. Hai na?",

she asks him, hurt audible in her voice.

Rajveer cascades down his eyes out of guilt and nervousness. This hurts Naina to the core.

Her heartbeat picks up pace,

"Aap... aap aisa soch bhi kaise sakte hain Sir? Jab mujhey aap par pura bharosa hai, to apka khud par se vishwas kyun dagmagaya Sir?",

she asks, raising her voice out of frustration.

"Aur... kya hota? Zada se zada ek goli hi chalti na mujh par? Itni kamzor nahi hun ke ek goli se mar jaun!",

blurts Naina.

"Naina!",

shouts Rajveer, covering her mouth with his hand, refraining her to speak further; regretting that he couldn't stop her from uttering those words.

How dare she said that? Does she not know that she is his protegee?

Pointing an index finger towards her, with a stern look, he warns her,

"Aaj keh liya...",

shaking his head, his stern gaze never leaving her,

"Dobara ye baat mat kehna!"

Lowering her eyes, out of nervousness, on witnessing his possessiveness towards her, Naina looks back towards him with a new determination.

"Aaj apne apni zindagi ki uss succhai ko, apni duty, apne lakshya ke agey aney de diya hai...",

shaking her head, her stern gaze never leaving him,

"Dobara ye kabhi mat kariyega!"

This skips Rajveer's heartbeat. How could he forget how bold his Naina is? He stares her, his eyes wide open out of shock on witnessing this Naina.

Soon a smile stretches on his lips. Is he mocking her? She is damn serious!
Rajveer's eyes arrest her trembling lips. Trembling, not out of fear of him but out of cold and shivering.

"Chalo, ander chalte hain. Mess mein jakar coffee pitey hain. Tumhe thand lag rahi hogi",

suggests Rajveer, smiling.

Naina nods her head in agreement.

"Alekh aur tumhare baki friends bhi wahan aa jayenge ya may be wohin ho",

says Rajveer, thinking.

And the thought of Alekh, drains blood out of Naina's face!

Chapter 7

"Alekh!",

utters Naina, in horror!

Glaring him out of anger again, she asks him, almost shouting at him,

"Apko iska matlab pata hai?"

"Alekh ka?",

asks Rajveer, trying to calm her down.

"Haan... 'Alekh' ka matlab...",

begins Rajveer, trying to hide his amusement.

But Naina is in no mood to laugh and get teased.

"Don't you dare!",

warns Naina.

This comes as a surprise for Rajveer, she really is pissed off over something. But what? The reason seems to be different than before. There came a sudden glow on her face, again, on the mention of Alekh. A glow that he doesn't admire, because somehow he could feel that it is not out of joy but out of nervousness!

Thoroughly pissed off, Naina turns and leaves, leaving behind a confused Rajveer.

"Naina meri baat to sunno...",

calls Rajveer from behind, confused.

As Naina enters KMA building, she walks towards her room, when Captain Abhimanyu happens to cross by her. Naina halts in her track. She looks towards him in dilemma - whether to congratulate him for his win or let it go!

Captain Abhimanyu looks in dilemma too, whether to smile politely or let it go! Nevertheless they walk towards each other, their steps slow, to buy them time to mentally prepare themselves about the forthcoming conversation.

Naina makes up her mind by the time she reaches him.

Abhimanyu smiles politely, reaching her.

"Congratulations S...",

she begins but soon remembers and rectifies herself, blushing,

"Congratulations Abhimanyu!",

smiles Naina, but the smile doesn't reach her eyes.

Smiling out of hesitation, Abhimanyu lowers his eyes, as if he can sense her hesitation.

"Thank you!",

he replies, politely.

Unable to understand what else to say, she asks, making up her mind quickly,

"Ahmm... aap to bahar the na? Yahan..."

With that constant smile on his face, Abhimanyu says,

"Yes, hum bahar hi the but fresh hone aye the".

"Okay!",

smiles Naina, hesitantly.

"Aap kahan ja rahi hain?",

asks Abhimanyu.

"Ahmm... main...",

stammers Naina, nervously.

"Wo... main mess mein ja rahi thi, coffee, coffee peene",

smiles Naina, hesitantly.

"Hmm... chaliye hum bhi chalte hain!",

proposes Abhimanyu, smiling.

"Haan zarur Chauhan Sahab. I am sure Naina ke group ko aur Naina ko, apki company zarur pasand ayegi",

says Rajveer, joining them, smiling sarcastically. He emphasizes on the name Naina. But thankfully the sarcasm and his emphasizing, could be understood only by Naina and not by Abhimanyu.

Naina's heart skips a beat on hearing him. Why is he behaving this way? Feeling it as her responsibility to cover up, she smiles nervously, all thanks to Rajveer's presence, she says,

"Ahmmm... I am sorry Abhimanyu par main filhal thodi busy hun. May be some other day?",

smiles Naina, politely.

"Sure!",

smiles Abhimanyu.

Naina smiles back politely, fully aware of Rajveer's eyes on her each move. She looks towards Rajveer for the last time, hesitantly, before leaving and finds his eyes on her. His eyes giving away his jealousy towards them.

Lowering her eyes Naina leaves quickly, trying to get away from Rajveer's constant gaze as soon as possible.

Abhimanyu smiles seeing her leaving.

"She is sweet, isn't she?",

smiles Abhimanyu, staring at the way through which Naina just left.

Lowering his eyes, Rajveer smirks, taking a deep breath, he says, almost taunts, releasing his jealousy by spitting out the words,

"Sambhal kar Chauhan Sahab, kahin apko diabetes na ho jaye!"

Abhimanyu looks towards Raj, alarmed by his reaction. A constant smile plays on his lips, wondering why Raj is reacting this way!

Sighing, Raj smiles and extends his hand,

"Well chaliye main chalta hun I guess ab to sarey tests bhi khatam ho gaye hain!"

Abhimanyu shakes hand with him, observing his mood.

He stares Rajveer as he leaves.

~*~*~

In his room, Rajveer sits on his bed. He thinks about Abhimanyu and Naina, whilst removing his shoes, thoroughly tired.

~*~*~

In her room, Naina paces here and there slowly, thinking about Rajveer. What was his reaction and words all about? Why does he react this way each time when she is with Abhimanyu?

She gets determined to ask for an answer. Suddenly his anger comes rushing down to her and she remembers how he was angry when she went to his room.

Lying on her bed she thinks about it. What was that look for in his eyes when he witnessed her and Abhimanyu together?

~*~*~

In his room, Rajveer on his bed, closes his eyes and thinks about Abhimanyu and Naina.

(Rajveer-Naina revolt tune begins)

Opening his eyes after sometime, he thinks - is he over reacting? But what is this reaction for? It's her life she has all the rights to choose whoever she wants to talk to! Whoever she wants to be with! So what's the big deal?

'Waise I must say, I am very impressed with Naina!',

Abhimanyu's words keep ringing in his ear.

Naina smiling at Abhimanyu on different occasions, flash in front of his eyes.

Taking a deep breath, he chooses to ignore it, coming into a conclusion that it is nothing more than friendship, not at least from Naina's side. And that is all that matters to him, her opinion!

(Slow Rajveer-Naina guitar tune begins as Rajveer thinks about Naina. A little smile creeps on his lips eventually)

~*~*~

Naina becomes restless, she needs to talk to him right now. His anger; his silence is becoming intolerable for her now. Getting up she leaves for his room!

As Naina gets out of her room and walks to reach Rajveer's room, Alekh pats her on her shoulder from behind, and asks her,

"Kahan ja rahi hai?"

"Captain Rajveer ko milne!",

she informs him, and tries to slip away.

As she walks to a certain distance, Alekh controlling his amusement, halts her from behind by saying,

"Sirf milne ka..."

Naina holds her waist from either sides, out of frustration and takes a deep breath.

Still controlling his laughter, Alekh walks towards her, and warns her,

"Baat-waat nahi karne ka!"

"Kyun?",

she asks, plastering a smile on her face, trying to irritate him just like he is irritating her right now.

"Kya?",

asks Alekh, melodramatically.

Naina lowers her eyes, embarrassed, as she is completely aware what he is pointing towards.

"Bhul gayi? Shart har gayi hai tu!",

reminds Alekh, showing himself off, as he is the winner!

"Aur Captain Rajveer, Vice Principal nahi baney!",

reminds Alekh.

Naina's face falls and heart stops beating altogether. She lowers her head.

"Haan agar tujhey gungon ki bhaasha aati hai... to try maar!",

teases Alekh, smiling lovingly.

Knowing that she can never disobey Alekh, she looks towards Captain Rajveer's room one last time, with sad eyes, and turns to return.

As she turns, Alekh hits his back head playfully, and runs to stop her. Holding her by her back arms, he stops her by saying,

"Arey Naina... Naina... baith ja baith ja baith ja baba...",

he makes her sit on a sitting area at the main hall of KMA. Naina obliges silently.

She keeps staring him, disappointed.
Alekh looks towards her, gauging her reactions.

"Bhul ja ussey!",

he orders more than says, like a true brother.

Laying back, Alekh teases her further by saying,

"Waise... apun ko ek kahani yaad aa rahi hai - 'Raja ki jaan totey mein...'",

looking at her through the corner of his eyes, he says,

" 'aur tera... Captain Rajveer mein!'",

he quickly looks away.

Naina turns to look towards him, shocked.

Alekh turns to look towards her too, holding his amusement.

"Kyun, galat bola?",

asks Alekh, teasingly.

Naina smiles slowly, and shakes her head into negative. This makes Alekh to smile too. They both as always succeed in understanding their silent, hidden conversation!

Smiling, Alekh gestures her to go and meet Captain Rajveer, giving permission. Setting her free from the condition that he laid.

As she gets up to leave, Alekh calls from behind, just to tease her,

"Chal apun apne jeet ki khushi manata hai!"

Naina turns to look towards him, confused,

"Nahi reh payi na Captain se bina baat kiye. Apun ko to pehle se hi pata tha!",

teases Alekh.

Naina arches a brow, as an idea strikes her. Turning fully towards him, she says,

"Chal theek hai Alekh, abhi Rajveer Sir ko meri zarurat hai, isliye mujhey unse milne de. Par iske baad main khud unse baat nahi karungi!",

Naina accepts the challenge.

"Main ye shart harne nahi wali!",

she says, determined to win.

"Bol, lagi shart?",

says a determined Naina, arching a brow.

This give Alekh and Naina, the both, adrenaline rush.

Smirking, Alekh teases her, looking away, as if confident that she would lose again!

"Hunn... rehne de fir hareygi!",

teases Alekh.

"Dekhte hain!",

Naina arches a brow.

"Dekh apne pairon ko, kaise ek jagah tik nahi rahe. Soch rahi hogi ke Alekh haan boley to jaun main Rajveer Sir se milne. Aur shart laga rhi hai apun se hun...",

teases Alekh.

Naina's cheeks turn crimson red again, as she realizes she indeed is getting impatient to meet him. Lowering her eyes she blushes. Then looks towards Alekh, sheepishly.

"Chal ja. Abhi ke liye maaf kiya. Par jaise hi unse mil kr ayegi tu, shart puri karni hogi. Bol manzoor hai?",

asks Alekh, smiling infectiously.

"Manzoor hai!",

smiles Naina, looking straight into his eyes.

Laughing, Alekh gestures her lovingly to leave for Captain Rajveer's room now. Blushing, she leaves.

~*~*~

Rajveer enters his room whilst talking to someone over phone. Ending the call, he places the phone on the table and heads towards his wardrobe, opening it he selects a jacket.

As soon as he closes the wardrobe, he finds Naina standing in his room, just near him. Not entirely surprised on discovering her there, as if expecting her, he smiles, waiting for his heart to beat again, after skipping one beat. He greets her smiling, and asks her,

"Cadet Naina Singh, tum yahan kya kar rhi ho?"

Naina smiles a little.

As he was about to move towards his table, an idea strikes him, and he turns back towards her, saying,

"Don't tell me humein iss ceremony mein saath saath jana hai!",

kidding with her.

Naina smiles and nods her head into affirmative.

Smiling with all his heart, Rajveer says,

"I don't believe this!",

happy to know that she is going to accompany him.

He walks towards his sofa whilst saying,

"By the way tum Abhimanyu ki iss oath ceremony mein inn kapdon mein jaogi?",

he looks towards her.

Whilst turning back, checking out his uniform, he says,

"Tumhe uniform mein hona chahiye Cadet Naina...",

turning to look towards her, he continues in his usual style, tilting his head a little towards left,

"Ah Singh!",

smiles Rajveer.

"Nahi?",

asking, he turns back to checking out his uniform.

Never looking away from him, Naina asks him, smiling slightly, but her voice bears no humor,

"Ek baat puchun?"

"Zarur pucho!",

says Rajveer, busy with his uniform, not looking towards her.

"Kya aap apne dost ko jitane ke liye harey hain?",

asks Naina, her voice soft.

She never takes her eyes away from him, not wanting to miss any of his expression.

Rajveer, who is standing facing away from her, lifts his eyes from his uniform, his brows knitted. She is back with her same question. Shutting his eyes, he sighs. How does she do that? Sometimes she remains completely oblivious to his feelings. And then there are times, when he tries so hard to shield a feeling of his from her, but she understands it like no one else. She understands him, like no one else!

(Slow Rajveer-Naina piano tune begins)

Turning to look towards her, he notices that she is not frustrated this time. She is all calm. This relaxes him too!

Walking towards her slowly, he sighs. He understands that now he cannot avoid it anymore. He needs to talk to her.

Reaching her, he lowers his eyes. Whilst looking back towards her, he calmly says,

"Naina tum mujhey na janey, kya samjhti ho!"

Naina's stare makes him to halt, as if she is replying him through her eyes. Transmitting her true feelings; her thoughts about him through her eyes.

"Main ek bohot hi sadharan aur aam insaan hun! Aur insaan kabhi kabhi hara bhi karte hain. Nahi?",

he asks her, honestly, smiling shyly.

He keeps staring her, waiting for her to say something. As much as she craves to hear him, he craves for her too! He understands that she wants him to stare back. He understands that as much he enjoys staring her; she enjoys staring him too. And he of course by no means can disappoint her; hurt her, to be precise.

"Haan par vishwas nahi tha!",

says Naina, never ending the eye contact.

Smiling a little, he decides to turn back and he walks towards his bed whilst asking her,

"Kyun aisa laga?"

"Hmmm?",

he says whilst placing his uniform on the bed.

"Kyun...?",

he asks again, and as he turns to look towards her, whilst asking this, his heart skips a beat and he stops abruptly, on discovering Naina staring her that way which does amazing things to his insides!

Her that possessive stare drags him to her. Slowly he walks towards her, never ending their precious eye contact. Slowly, because he likes it that way, slow! The crave lingers some more time this way, which he surely enjoys. Slowly, because even she is acting slow, as if they have the whole day to do this! They need to assemble as per orders, but when they are together this way, they care less about the world and more about each other!

Reaching her, while never ending the eye contact, Rajveer sighs and tells her,

"Naina mera yakeen mano, Captain Abhimanyu Rai Chauhan ek bohot hi acha vice principal sabit hoga!"

Naina, keeping the eye contact intact, while her stare turns more possessive,
replies softly, as if, if she raises her voice this precious eye contact might end, which she cannot bear ending at any cost, unless he wants it to happen!

"Zaroor!",

says Naina softly, maintaining the eye contact.

Staring her throughout, accepting her wish of maintaining the eye contact, Rajveer rests his left hand on his cupboard above his head, and asks him,

"Kya baat hai Naina? Tum mujhse kuch kehna chahti ho?",

inside his heartbeat picks up pace. If she wishes to say him something; to confess something, what will he do? How will he react?

But then if this has to be the day, then let it be! Even he is Captain Rajveer Singh Shekhawat, he would manage everything, after all he is the master of Strategies and Communication, he has full confidence in him, he will deal with this too, successfully. And then it is no one else but his dear Cadet Naina 'Ah' Singh, someone whom he knows in and out!

But Captain Rajveer, is this not the exact problem that she is your dear Cadet Naina 'Ah' Singh?

Smiling, shaking her head a little, careful, she doesn't want to disturb their game, she replies softly,

"Nahi!"

He enjoys the eye lock, no denial Naina enjoys too, but her heartbeat picks up pace, she tells him softly,

"Bus yahi soch rahi thi ke... kisi din main bhi kisi ki achi dost bann kar dikhana chahti hun!"

(Slow Rajveer-Naina trumpet tune begins)

"Jaisa ke aaj apne dikhaya!",

adds Naina further.

Rajveer fully aware that she is indicating towards him, blushes but doesn't shy away, after all he doesn't want to end the eye contact, yet. Smiling, Naina keeps looking towards him, as if wanting him to take the first step. No denial, by her expressions; by her gestures, if today Rajveer does decide to take a step forward in their relationship, whatever they share, Naina wouldn't stop him even for once! Because her each gesture shouts that she hell wants the same!

"Sapne dekhna chahti hun haq se, jaise apne dekha!",

she says softly.

"Sapna?",

he asks softly, smiling, yet confused, what is she talking about?

Smiling, Naina shakes her head, indicating that she doesn't want to talk about it.

Naina's gestures intrigue him. He gets determined to know what she was saying. Is she hiding something from him?

"Kaisa sapna Naina?",

he asks, politely.

"Jaisa apne dekha!",

she tells.

"Maine dekha?",

he asks, confused.

"Apne mera naam kyun liya tha Sir?",

she asks him, knowing that he would understood.

And understand he does. He lowers his eyes, hesitantly, blushing.

"Did I... Did I really take your... your name?",

he asks, hesitantly.

Naina lowers her eyes, blushing.

Rajveer blushes too, then looks back towards her, his stare turning intimate again.

"Tum coffee peene nahi gayi Chauhan ke saath?",

he asks her out of blue.

This comes as a surprise for Naina and forces her to lower her eyes.

Smiling secretly, at her nervous state, he asks, teasingly,

"Kya hua? Coffee peene ka mann nahi tha ya time nahi tha?"

Naina stares him, accusingly.

"Apse milna tha!",

she says softly, plainly!

Her straightforward answer touches his heart! The smile of joy that touches his lips, and the way his eyes twinkle, Naina's heart melts!

Smiling, he asks her,

"Tum ghar kab ja rahi ho?"

His question reminds her, her plans of visiting her home, which she had almost forgotten since this whole time, Alekh's bet was going on in her mind, since the moment she met Alekh.

Her expression turns to exact 180 degree! Rajveer does realize it.

"Kya hua? Nahi ja rahi?",

asks Rajveer, hopefully.

The hope in his voice, contracts her heart. Looking into his eyes, she smiles and says softly,

"Jaungi to zarur, mujhey yahan reh kar distract nahi hona".

Laughing softly, Rajveer asks her,

"Kon karta hai tumhe distract, mujhey batao".

(Rajveer-Naina slow piano tune begins)

Their rate of heartbeats pick up pace. They both knows exactly who distracts her! They keep staring each other, none saying anything.

Naina lowers her eyes, followed by Rajveer.

"Kab ja rahi ho?",

asks Rajveer, all serious.

"Next week! Chacha-Chachi aney waley hain. Bhaiya ke janey ke baad, pehli baar aa rahe hain. I guess ab humare relatives ne humein accept karna shuru kr diya hai dheere-dheere!",

says Naina, her sadness visible in her eyes and in her voice.

Rajveer's heart clenches as he thinks for the umpteenth time, what Naina and her family must have gone through after Naveen's death.

Unable to help herself, she shares with him for the first time,

"Apko pata hai, jis din bhaiya ki body ghar layi gayi thi, coincidentally uss din Chacha-Chachi ko ghar ana tha!"

Rajveer holds his breath to listen to her story further, knowing that this is going to be painful! Not only he will have to control his emotions but will also have to support her.

"Waise to humse subne nata ussi din tod diya tha jis din Naveen bhaiya arrest hue the. Par achanak na janey Chacha-Chachi ko hum par taras kyun aa gayi?",

says Naina, spitting venom through her each word.

"Maine to Ma-Baba ko kaha tha ke unhe mana kar dein. Par shayad wo dono aas lagaye baithe the ke shayad koi na sahi par Chacha-Chachi Naveen bhaiya ko samjh paye. Maine to koi umeed nahi rakhi thi kisi se!",

Naina adds further.

As fresh anger surges through her, Naina looks towards Rajveer, and tells him out of anger,

"You know what Sir, meri ek baat humesha yaad rakhna, khoon ka rishta jab tak na ho na tab tak itni aasani se koi apna nahi hota. Mark my words!",

she points her index finger towards Rajveer.

Smiling at her innocence, Rajveer thinks about Naveen and his god father Lala Gehlot and a satisfactory smile comes on his face.

"Nahi... Nahi Naina aisa nahi hai. Kuch rishte khoon ke rishte se upar hote hain. Ab mere aur Naveen ki dosti hi dekh lo",

he smiles sadly, as he misses him again at this moment. But at the same time he feels proud of their friendship, the bond that they shared.

Naina smiles a little visualizing Naveen and Rajveer together.

"Aur... aur Lala Gehlot? Unke saath khoon ka rishta na hote hue bhi wo mere kitne kareeb hai!",

smiles Rajveer thinking about Lala Gehlot.

"Lala Gehlot?",

asks Naina, hearing the name for the first time.

It's then he realizes that he hasn't yet told her about him.

Smiling, as he thinks about his god father, he says and blushes,

"Lala Gehlot ka main muh bola beta hun. He is like a god father to me!"

This new information about him makes Naina's heart to skip a beat. She blushes at the thought that she knows something about him that others don't know yet!

But after enjoying the blissful moment of feeling that she is the only one amongst all the cadets to have this information about Captain Rajveer, she focuses back on this information.

"Oh!",

says Naina, imagining him respecting someone as his father, apart from Brigadier Chandok. But how hard she tries, she fails to imagine. May be it is not meant to be that way! May be Lala Gehlot and Rajveer don't go along too well; at least not for Naina.

Naina smiles, but her smile doesn't reach her eyes. Somehow she is unsure about this relation between Captain Rajveer and his god father.

"Ahmm... ab ap taiyaar ho jaiye",

smiles Naina.

As she was about to move, Rajveer calls her,

"Naina..."

Naina halts from getting away and waits for him to continue.

Smiling, still looking intently into her eyes, Rajveer tells her,

"Acha dost banne ke liye, dosti karna zaruri hota hai!"

They keep staring each other. Smiles of shyness evident on their faces.

(Rajveer-Naina happy tune begins)

Lowering his eyes, taking a deep breath, he looks again towards her and teases her,

"Ab agar tum yunhi khadi rahi to main... taiyaar kaise honga?"

Naina blushes deeply, as his words do amazing things to her insides. She shuts her eyes immediately to shoo away the ill mannered thoughts that bubble, with in moments of his mention. Rajveer laughs secretly, enjoying her state of blush and shyness. No denial her emotions right now are mirroring his!

"Appraisal ka result announce hone wala hai!",

reminds Rajveer, as if knowing that if this continues further he might do something which he might regret later. Her presence in his room, her standing close to him make him feel intoxicated. How he is controlling himself, only he knows! She should stop staring him or else she might regret doing so later. And he won't take the blame! She is provoking him, without doubt! And also they don't exactly have time to continue this right now!

But whom exactly is he reminding - her or himself?

Shutting her eyes, as she realizes the fact, she feels being stupid at standing there, she opens her eyes and says,

"I'll see you!"

And the way Rajveer raises his brows, with a small smile intact on his face, makes Naina to feel as if he is silently asking her - 'when?'

And as she realizes this, she thinks of something and requests him,

"Ahmm... just five minutes more please?"

Rajveer smiles further, as he wonders, this is exactly what he wanted to say but was refraining himself from saying, and here she says it!

"Yeah sure!",

he says, knitting his brows, doubtful, what has gotten into her?

"Ahm...",

she tries to search for words.

"Kya hua Naina? All fine?",

asks Rajveer, getting serious, all concerned.

Naina nods her head a little in affirmation.

"Main apse gussa nahi hun!",

she tells him out of blue.

This confuses him, why would she say that?

"What?",

he asks, confused, knitting his brows. What is she talking about?

"Naina...",

he trails off the sentence, unable to understand what exactly he wants to ask.

He sees her walking back towards his bed and picking up his uniform. He keeps his eyes transfixed on her each move. Walking back to him, she places the uniform softly on his chest, holding the hanger portion. Rajveer holds his uniform from the corner side, his eyes never leaving her face, trying to gauge her reaction.

"Ek baat puchun?",

she asks, hesitantly, still holding his uniform on his chest, her voice low. She avoids looking towards him.

"Pucho!",

he says, suspiciously.

"Aap kab tak ghutan seh sakte hain?",

she asks, holding her breath.

Her weird question surprises Rajveer.

"Tum... ye...!",

he fails to understand what to say.

But he is the master of strategies and communication after all, he cannot trail off the sentence like that.

"Main kuch samjha nahi!",

he says, alert now.

Smiling, she looks towards him.

"Uniform... Uniform mein ghutan mehsus nahi hoti?",

she asks, looking straight into his eyes.

Rajveer keeps staring her, confused as he smells something fishy.

Understanding that he is trying to read the hidden meaning, she thinks it's the need of the hour for her to leave, before he starts interrogating her and she confesses everything!

"Ahmmm... main... I'll... I'll see you!",

she says, hopefully.

The words make him forget everything and a smile of expectation stretches on his lips.

Giving him a last long look, blushing, she leaves quickly.

Rajveer, thinking about her the whole time, with a constant smile on his face, unconsciously closes the door, his eyes somewhere in front of him unconsciously as he stands horizontally in front of the door to close it. Resting his head on the cupboard, he keeps thinking about her lovingly.

(Rajveer-Naina slow guitar tune continues)

Chapter 8

As the oath taking ceremony ends, all walk towards their respective classes. Rajveer, whose eyes were on Naina the whole time since the end of the ceremony, walks towards her, his anger visible in his eyes. Angry because he doesn't miss how she was avoiding to look towards him the whole time.

Naina realizes his decreasing towards her. She indulges herself into talking to a female cadet before he could reach her and ask her anything. Rajveer stops his steps as he finds her talking to a female cadet, he somehow understands that she did this on purpose, but why, he fails to understand. Glaring her for the last time, he turns to leave for his room.
As he leaves, Naina slowly looks towards him, going away, her eyes turn sorrowful.

Walking with Ali, Pooja shares with him how she is not very happy about the fact that Captain Abhimanyu has been chosen the Vice Principal.

"Ali mujhe pata nahi kyun aisa lag raha hai, jaise KMA ka cross connection lag gaya hai. Bus ab to galat calls ke aney ki deri hai",

says Pooja.

"Pooja ji hum kuch samjhe nahi!",

says Ali, confused.

"Oye ye geet gata banjara, Captain Abhimanyu, Vice Principal jo bann gaye hain!",

Pooja rolls her eyes saying so.

"Aap aisa kaise keh sakti hain? Unhe ek mauka to dijiye. Humein pura yakeen hai ke wo apne position ko bakhubhi sambhal payenge",

says Ali, confident about Captain Abhimanyu's leadership.

"Oye tu kehna kya chahta hai Ali, ke Captain Rajveer se achey hain Captain Abhimanyu?",

asks Pooja, halting at her place and turning to look towards Ali, knitting her brows.

"Aap please humein galat mat samjhiye. Hum na Captain Abhimanyu ke saath hai aur na Captain Rajveer ke khilaf. Hum bus ye jante hain ke faisla bilkul evenly liya gaya hai. Dono hi iss position ke kabil hain par best wala hi jeeta hai. Captain Abhimanyu ne best perform kiya to wo jeet gaye. Par iska matlab ye nahi ke hum Captain Rajveer ke kabiliyat par shaq kar rahe hain!",

clarifies Ali, getting slightly nervous.

Turning to look forward, sadly, Pooja says, dreamly,

"Jo bhi ho yaar, main to Shahrukh ka connection judte hue dekhna chahti thi Vice Principal ke post se".

"Hum samajh rahe hain Pooja ji, par sirf favourite hone se kisi ko koi position de de ye zaruri bhi to nahi na."

Pooja looks towards Ali, unable to believe that he is actually saying this.

"Oye tu hosh mein to hai Ali?",

scolds Pooja.

"Pooja ji humara matlab...",

begins Ali, scared, how to make her understand.

"Rehne de Ali, tere cross connection ki to mujhey aadat si ho gayi hai. Pehle wo Major Bhargava aur ab Captain Abhimanyu!",

says Pooja, pissed off, and leaves.

Ali stares her helplessly.

"Pooja ji humari baat to suniye",

calls Ali, tensed, but Pooja leaves nevertheless.

~*~*~

At the mess

Sitting on a chair, Huda asks, pissed off,

"Yaar mujhey to samjh nahi aa raha wo geet gata banjara Vice Principal ke post ke liye kaise select ho gaya?"

"Jaise hote hain!",

comes a plain reply from Alekh, as always not caring about anyone's reaction to his words, as he places Huda's cup of coffee on the table.

Huda turns towards him out of anger and asks,

"Oye Qaidi mujhey aisa kyun lag raha hai ke tu uss geet gatey banjare ke jeetne se bohot khush hai?"

"Boley to humare teacher hain khush to hoga hi apun!",

replies Alekh, coolly, turning to look towards him.

"Kya? Humare?",

asks Huda, melodramatically.

"Bhul gaya kya tu? Orderly ko koi parhata nahi hai!",

taunts Huda, as it becomes unbearable for him that he is taking Abhimanyu's side over Captain Rajveer's.

Alekh shoots angry glares towards Huda on listening his taunt.

Getting angry Huda asks,

"Abey saley tu bhul gaya, Captain Rajveer ne tujhey insaan bannane ke liye kya kya kiya hai?"

Alekh getting highly angry, says,

"Abey a chikne, apun na to kuch bhulta hai aur na hi auron ko kuch bhulne deta hai!"

Huda smiles sarcastically, looking away.

"Sala! Thoda hans bol kya liya wo ghunghrale baalo wala, chala chamchagiri karne",

says Huda, unable to stand that Alekh is favouring Captain Abhimanyu over Captain Rajveer.

"Tu bhi to shuru mein Captain Rajveer ke khilaf tha, thodi madad kya kar di unhone tujhey insaan banane mein, tu unke talwe chatne laga?",

retorts Alekh, calmly.

This boils Huda's blood, getting up he pulls Alekh by his collar and gestures a punch in front of him.

Thankfully Yudi reaches them at the correct moment and stops them there.

"Stop it guys. What's wrong with you both?",

shouts Yudi, refraining Huda to move ahead, by standing in front of him and holding him by his shoulders.

"Oye Yudiye, meri baat yaad rakhiyo, ye insaan kisi ka saga nahi ho sakta",

warns Huda, looking towards Yudi with his eyes blazing with anger.

Yudi turns to look towards Alekh, knitting his brow. Meanwhile Huda jerks himself out of Yudi's grip and leaves for his room.

~*~*~

Captain Rajveer was signing some papers, standing with an orderly, when Naina happens to cross by him. Her heartbeat picks up pace as she was busy thinking about something and doesn't realize that she needs to skip walking from this place as Rajveer is standing there. And when she does realize it, it gets too late! She finds herself in a dilemma, whether to turn back and take another corridor or pass by him, ignoring him completely.

As he notices her there through his peripheral vision, his speed of reading the papers decreases. She seems to be distracted, different! What is it? If he knows her correctly, so by now, she would have rushed to him, to talk to him. But may be she doesn't exactly have anything to share with him? He rejects the thought as soon as it enters his mind, when has she ever needed a reason to meet him? And even if she has, she chooses any random thing to share with him, even if it's not that important to share with him. Where is his Naina?

As Naina senses him coming to her, she calls out Alekh, who happens to be walking to somewhere at a distance.

At first, on hearing Naina's voice, Alekh turns to look towards Naina, bearing a smile on his face. But as soon as he turns to look towards her, his smile vanishes, as he finds Captain Rajveer standing behind her at a distance. His face expression explains Alekh how confused and irritated he is right now!

Alekh who uptil now was all set to tease Naina, gets nervous on seeing Rajveer there.

"Haan... haan Naina...",

says Alekh, nervously, looking sometimes towards Naina other times towards Rajveer.

"Alekh tujhse kuch important baat karni thi kya hum baat kar sakte hain?",

asks Naina, completely aware of Rajveer's eyes on her.

"Haan... haan chal",

says Alekh, nervously, changing his glances from Rajveer to Naina then back to Rajveer.

"Alekh!",

calls Captain Rajveer, as Alekh and Naina turn to leave together.

They don't turn immediately, but heartbeats of both Alekh and Naina pick up paces as they sense him walking towards them.

Walking to them, Rajveer though standing behind Alekh, says, turning to look towards Naina,

"Mujhey 'bhi' Alekh se kuch baat karni hai!",

emphasizing on 'bhi'.

"Ahmm... Alekh main mess mein hun, jab bhi tu free ho jaye mujhse mil liyo",

says Naina, ignoring Rajveer completely.

"Ya hum dono ek saath baat kar sakte hain Alekh se? Main tumhari problem bhi solve kar dunga!",

proposes Rajveer.

A naughty smile comes on Alekh's face and he looks towards Rajveer, all naughty ideas going through his mind.

Showing off himself to be serious, Alekh turning to look towards Rajveer, asks him,

"Aap... apko kaise pata ke Naina apun se kuch problem share karne wali hai?"

Sighing, Rajveer says acting to be sad,

"Naina tumhare aur mere paas tabhi ati hai jab usse koi problem hoti hai!",

he makes a puppy face.

Alekh arches a brow, smiling naughtily.

Looking through the corner of his eyes, he says,

"Waise ye... baat... to aap bilkul sahi bol rahe ho Sir".

This boils Naina's blood.

"Alekh main tere paas sirf tab aati hun jab mujhey koi problem ho?",

asks Naina, shooting daggers towards Alekh through her eyes.

"Ruk sochne de...!",

says Alekh, acting to be scared of her anger.

After thinking, he concludes, smiling,

"Nahi! Nahi Sir aisi baat nahi hai... boley to jab problem solve nahi hoti tab bhi ye apun ke paas aati hai apun ko ye batane ke mamla jama nahi!"

Naina widens her eyes on hearing Alekh's words.

Rajveer and Alekh, purse their lips to refrain themselves from laughing.

"Alekh...!",

she shouts, and before he could explain further, Naina runs after him, thankfully Alekh anticipates the chase and takes a flight before she steps forth.

(Left Right Left tune begins)

Standing at his place, Rajveer laughs, enjoying witnessing this chase game between the duo.

"In short Cadet Naina Ah Singh ko tumhare aur mere siwaye koi nahi jhel sakta. Right Cadet Alekh?",

shouts Rajveer, to make himself audible to them.

Naina and Alekh stop at this. While Alekh's giggle increases on hearing him, Naina's face turn red out of blush and embarrassment.

Turning, giving him a last look, an intimate look which warns him to stop teasing her, Naina turns away, blushing, smiling she leaves.

(Rajveer-Naina happy tune begins as they stare each other)

Alekh standing there understands whatever goes on between them, smiling he looks away, like a true brother, feeling shy on witnessing his sister's romance with her partner!

Staring her still, wondering why has she suddenly started resisting herself from talking to him, Rajveer walks towards Alekh, his face still turned behind, towards the way through which Naina just left and his steps moving forward towards Alekh.

Engulfing Alekh by his shoulders, he asks him, confused,

"Yaar ye tumhari dost ko ho kya gaya hai?"

Alekh finds it amusing, he purses his lips and controls his laughter bubbling in his stomach. Acting to be serious, he places his right hand horizontally over his abdomen and his left hand standing erect on his right hand, such that the fingers of his left hand is touching his lips, he knits his brows melodramatically, turning his head towards Rajveer, as if seriously addressing him, he asks,

"Kyun kya hua?"

"Tabse ajeeb ajeeb harkatein kar rahi hai!",

says Rajveer, concerned.

This gives Alekh another fit of laughter which he controls by a great effort.

"Acha? Kyun Sir aisa kya kiya usne?",

asks Alekh, acting to be concerned.

"Matlab thodi der pehle mere room mein ayi thi...",

shares Rajveer.

Alekh stares him with full interest, his heart almost in his mouth, is his teacher going to share with him his personal stories? Like seriously? Wow!

Suddenly Rajveer remembers the moments he spent with her, his heart skips a beat. Widening his eyes as the realization dawns upon him, he thinks what was he going to do just now? He was about to share his feelings about a sister to her brother? How can he forget Alekh and his relationship status?

Rajveer looks towards him sheepishly. As their eyes meet the look away immediately, feeling shy - Rajveer on realizing what blooper he was about to make and Alekh on realizing what a situation he would have gone through had Rajveer made the blooper! He of course has no interest in knowing what goes on between Captain Rajveer and Naina behind the close doors!

But then he is her brother, he needs to make Rajveer learn that. So what if he is his teacher? Their teacher-student relationship is other thing and this relationship is entirely another thing. Alekh won't compromise when it comes to being Naina's brother, this he needs to make Rajveer aware of!

"To?",

asks Alekh, with voice bearing the dignity of a brother.

Now it's Rajveer's turn to escape from Naina's brother - Alekh's eyes.

"Nahi... Nahi mera matlab...",

says Captain Rajveer, stammering, as he senses that he has walked into a lion's den!

"Matlab usne kuch nahi kiya...!",

Rajveer tries to defend her.

"To fir kisne kiya?",

Alekh glares him.

It's then Rajveer realizes how while trying to defend Naina, he is putting himself into danger. Dealing with traitors, criminals is a different thing, a thing which Captain Rajveer never feels afraid of, but dealing with a brother of a girl, is altogether a different thing. And no denial it's a first for Rajveer, so he is nervous.

Holding his breath, Rajveer tries to explain,

"Dekho! Dekho Alekh, jaisa... jaisa tum soch rahe ho, waisa... waisa kuch nahi hai!"

Then suddenly he realizes what exactly is he doing? He is the teacher and Alekh is his student. Why is he getting afraid of his student? But then he is not only his student but Naina's brother too! That too over protective one.

Thoroughly in dilemma with his emotions, Rajveer shuts his eyes and sighs. Noticing his reactions, Alekh purses his lips, thoroughly enjoying this new side of Captain Rajveer. Alekh quickly changes his expressions to prior one, as Rajveer opens his eyes.

Taking a deep breath, Rajveer looks towards Alekh, and warns him,

"Mera bhi din ayega! After all Neelu meri bhi kuch lagti hai",

winking, smiling teasingly, Rajveer turns and walks away.

Alekh's amusement flushes away and he stands there dumbstruck. When Captain Rajveer has said that, he will do that! And this Alekh knows very well.

Getting afraid, Alekh calls him nervously from behind,

"Sir... Sir... Sir..."

Rajveer, who is turned away from Alekh arches a brow and a smirk of victory comes on his face. Plastering a serious look, he waits for Alekh to reach him.

Reaching him, Alekh stammers whilst saying,

"Apun... apun to mazak kar raha tha. Aap bhi kya...!"

Smiling sarcastically, Rajveer bends a little towards Alekh's ear and whispers,

"Lekin apun mazak nahi kar raha tha!"

Getting away, Rajveer winks, smiling infectiously, and leaves, leaving behind a dumbstruck Alekh.

Sitting at a bench in the central area of KMA, Naina reads her notes. Reaching her, Pooja nudges her,

"Oye tu silent mode par kyun baithi hui hai yahan?",

she asks.

"Kuch nahi Pooja, exams aa rahe hain so parh rahi hun",

replies Naina, whilst learning her notes.

"Haye rabba exams se yaad aaya. Sun mera abhi Suriji ke saath extra class hai. Tu mera ek kaam karegi?",

asks Pooja.

"Haan bol, kya kaam hai?",

says Naina.

Handing Naina over, her notebook, Pooja tells her,

"Wo ye notes dene hain please de degi?"

"Haan sure Pooja, itni si baat. Zarur de dungi",

smiles Naina.

Whilst open the notebook, to checkout the notes, she asks,

"Kisko dena hai?"

"Shahrukh... mera matlab Captain Rajveer ko",

says Pooja, rectifying her words quickly.

This skips Naina's heartbeat. She widens her eyes.

"Ahmmm... Pooja... wo... mujhey pata nahi Rajveer Sir kahan honge. To... tu... tu... Huda ko bol de wo de dega",

suggests Naina, nervously.

"Haye rabba usse dungi to ho gaya mera kaam. Kisi jannani ko call karte karte, mera call hi disconnect kar dega. Fir main puri academy mein apna phone dhundhti firungi",

Pooja rolls her eyes.

"Mera matlab meri copy dhundhti firungi",

rectifies Pooja.

This makes Naina to laugh, followed by Pooja.

"Chal de main de dungi",

says Naina, smiling, shaking her head as she thinks about what Pooja just said.

"Thank you",

says Pooja, getting excited and hugs Naina.

~*~*~

Naina walks out of her next class when Abhimanyu happens to cross by her. Seeing him, Naina smiles and reaches him.

"Next class apke saath hai humari",

reminds Naina.

"Jee haan hum bus wohin ja rahe the",

smiles Abhimanyu.

Abhimanyu hums a song 'ye raatein nayi purani'. This brings a smile on Naina's face.

"Apko pata hai...",

begins Naina only to get interrupted by Abhimanyu.

"Ye Naveen ka one of the favourite tracks tha!",

Abhimanyu completes Naina's line, smiling.

Naina turns to look towards him, smiling.

"Aap janti hain Naina, unhe jab bhi raat ko neend nahi aati thi, wo yahi gana gungunaya karte the",

shares Abhimanyu.

Captain Rajveer joins them from behind, embracing Abhimanyu by his shoulder, standing at Abhimanyu's right side while Naina stands at Abhimanyu's left.

"Aur humein bhi puri raat jagaye rakhta tha! Nahi Chauhan Sahab?",

asks Raj, cherishing olden days.

Naina lowers her eyes, smiling, thinking about Naveen.

Abhimanyu laughs, and says,

"Oh those were the days!"

"Bhaiya jahan bhi honge, I am sure aap dono ke bond ko dekh kar bohot khush honge",

smiles Naina.

It's then that Raj and Abhimanyu remembers their relationship status at the moment. They are not in the best of their friendship. Raj removes his hand from Abhimanyu's shoulder.

Abhimanyu a bit embarrassmed turns to look towards Naina, smiling he says,

"Naina I really hope aap aur apke friends humesha saath rahein. Aap logo mein kabhi kisi prakar ki misunderstanding na ho".

Naina looks into his eyes and nods in affirmative.

"Naina ye baat yaad rakhiyega, apki khushi humare liye bohot important hai!",

smiles Abhimanyu.

Naina nods her head, smiling, looking towards Abhimanyu.

A ping of jealousy surges through Raj. Unable to tolerate it anymore, Raj excuses himself.

"Aap log enjoy kijiye. I have a class to attend. Take care",

smiles Rajveer, looking towards Abhimanyu.

As his eyes rest on Naina, he turns serious then leaves. Naina realizes that something is amiss. She gets tensed thinking how would she deal with this situation.

"Well to our dismay, enjoy to hum nahi kar payenge, kyunki we too have a class to attend",

says Abhimanyu, sighing melodramatically.

"Humein apki class leni hai aur apko humari class attend karni hai",

smiles Abhimanyu.

Naina smiles looking towards Abhimanyu. But her smile doesn't touch her eyes as her mind stays on Captain Rajveer.

As they reach Abhimanyu's class, Naina realizes that she had to give the notebook to Captain Rajveer. But the prevailing situation made her to forget about the notebook altogether.
Naina rolls her eyes at her silliness.
She chooses to deal with the situation later.

As the class begins, Naina pays attention on what Abhimanyu is teaching, but soon she starts getting bored, having already done the chapter by her own. She picks up a copy randomly, and starts writing there,

'Jadu sa chaney laga,
pagal banane laga.
Kuch yaad aney laga,
kuch bhul janey laga.
Kya na kare kya kare,
ye dil kya kare'

~*~*~

She keeps reading it, smiling, blushing. She checks the previous page randomly and finds that Pooja has written something there,

'Pal bhar ke liye koi humein pyar kar le,
jhoota hi sahi.
Do (2) din ke liye koi ikrar kar le,
jhoota hi sahi!'

Naina laughs thinking about Pooja after reading this. She flips through the pages when at a corner she discovers Ali's name written inside a heart.

This skips Naina's heartbeat, she blushes looking at that. She has never done this. But then whose name would she write anyways? Her heart skips a beat as she realizes - whose name would she write! She quickly dismisses the idea as the thought gives her weird sensations, which are though enjoyable yet weird.

Naina realizes that she needs to give this copy to someone else, or else she wouldn't be able to concentrate on her studies, this copy is a distracting element!

She quietly places the copy on Alekh's desk. Alekh who has been sleeping doesn't realize when Naina slips the copy on his desk.

As Alekh wakes up, he discovers the copy there. Knitting his brows, he opens it. He checks the name written on the copy, but fails to read it even after trying to read it for several times.

"Sala Hindi mein kayeko nahi likhte ye naam pata nahi!",

curses Alekh, as he fails to read the name.

Exasperated, Alekh brings out a pen and writes a random song in Hindi, inside the copy.

'Chor aye hum wo galiyan,
jahan tere pairon ke kaval gira karte the.
Hanse to do gaalon mein,
bhawar parha karte the'

As the class ends Alekh at first thinks of taking the copy with him, almost like stealing, then he shakes his head, giving it a second thought. He keeps the copy at it's place, as it doesn't belong to him. Whistling, he walks away.

As Huda passes by Alekh's seat to exit the classroom, he discovers the notebook,

"Abey oh Qaidi...",

he calls out, picking the copy but in vain.

Shaking his head he takes the copy deciding to give him when they meet.

As he was about to exit the class, a female cadet enters, refraining him to leave the class.

"Huda tum free ho?",

she asks sweetly.

(Huda's background tune begins)

Huda's heart flutters on finding a female cadet approaching him herself.

Blushing, getting excited, he says,

"Huda jananiyon ke liye humesha free hota hai!"

The female cadet blushes.

"Ahmmm... meri abhi koi class nahi hai, to maine socha kyun na tumhare saath... thoda time spend kar lun?",

says the female cadets, seductively.

"Haye aise ucch vicchar dimag mein lati raha kar",

says Huda, his excitement increasing gradually.

They sit together on a bench and stare each other romantically.

After enjoying the stare for sometime. They enjoy random talks. Whilst talking, Huda opens the notebook and writes a song, dedicating to the girl,

'Pyar manga hai tumhi se,
na inkaar karo.
Paas baitho zara aaj to,
ikraar karo.
Mujhey pyar karo,
mujhey pyar karo'

After enjoying few moments together, they leave.

As they walk out of the class, engrossed in talking to each other; enjoying each other's company, Huda doesn't realize when the copy slips by his hand and falls on the floor.

Ali picks up the copy and calls Huda from behind,

"Huda bhai...",

but Huda fails to listen to Ali's call.

Shaking his head, Ali enters an empty classroom, as he feels low.

"Ammi-Abbu, aaj aap dono ki bohot yaad aa rahi hai",

mutters Ali, entering a vacant classroom to spend some time alone.

He doesn't realize when he drifts into the land of old memories. He starts cherishing few amazing moments he spent with his family.

Smiling, his eyes brim with tears on remembering them. He gets an urge to pen down his feelings somewhere. He opens the notebook and unconsciously opens a random blank page and writes,

'Ye to such hai ke bhagwan hai,
hai magar fir bhi anjaan hai.
Dharti pe roop ma-baap ka,
uss vidhata ki pehchaan hai'

Getting emotional, Ali picks up the copy in a haste and leaves the room.
As he heads towards the next class, he collides with another cadet and doesn't realize when his copy slips off.

Captain Rajveer who happens to cross by that place, finds the copy lying on the floor. Picking it up, he looks around to check if he could find someone who is searching for his or her loat notebook, he might return it.

He decides to open the first page of the notebook in order to check the name to whom this notebook belongs. But coincidently in his process of checking out the first page, he ends up opening a page where he discovers Naina's handwriting.

(Slow Rajveer-Naina guitar tune begins)

Smiling, he shakes his head, closing the notebook, he leaves for his next class. Assuming that the copy belongs to Naina, he decides to hand it over to her whenever he meets her.

Chapter 9

"Kya copy kho di?",

shouts Pooja.

"Pooja maine... maine... I think Alekh ko di thi!",

says Naina, hesitantly.

"Apun ko? Apun ko kyun degi tu? Apun ka adhey se zada kaam to tu karti hai pura",

Alekh defends himself, completely oblivious to what's going on in her mind.

Naina gets nervous. Even after thinking hard she fails to understand where has she kept it. Indeed it would turn out to be a great headache for Pooja, if they don't find it.

Ali reaches them and asks Pooja out of concern,

"Kya hua Pooja ji? Aap pareshan lag rahi hain?"

Pooja remembers their prior chat and fresh anger surges through her. Already pissed off, Ali's question increases her frustration.

"Tujhey apne cross connection se fursat miley tab pata lagega na mere missed call ka",

taunts Pooja, looking towards Ali.

"Pooja ji aap... aap aise kyun keh rahi hain?",

asks Ali.

Naina intervenes,

"Haan Pooja, tu iss tarah kyun baat kar rahi hai?"

"Chor Naina. Iss problem ke barey mein sochte hain",

saying so, Pooja rolls her eyes and leaves.

Naina looks towards Ali, concerned.

"Ahmmm... Ali mujhey ye to nahi pata tum dono mein kya baat hui hai, par main baat karti hun usse",

assures Naina, smiling lightly.

"Ji! Ji Naina ji!",

says Ali, hesitantly.

"Aur... aur humein yakeen hai ke aap bhi jis baat ko le kar pareshan hain, uska hal apko mil jaye",

blesses Ali, smiling hesitantly.

Naina smiles back.

"Oye shaney. Sirf dua dega, madad nahi karega kya?",

calls Alekh, as Ali leaves.

Turning to look towards Alekh, Ali asks happily,

"Bataiye, hum apki kya madad kar sakte hain?"

Naina looks towards Alekh, assuming him to be having some idea.

"Boley to jin jin class mein Naina gayi thi, tujhey unn unn class mein ja kar dekhna parhega ke kahin Naina ne copy to nahi chor di wahan!",

says Alekh.

"Alekh bhai hum aise akele kaise har class mein ja sakte hain? Humara matlab agar hum sub alag alag class mein jaye to kaam zada jaldi hoga. Nahi?",

suggests Ali.

Turning to look towards Naina, Alekh says,

"Waise Naina baat to bilkul patey ki kar raha hai Ali. To ek kaam kar tu udhar wali dekh, apun idhar wali dekhta hai",

indicating Ali to go to the right and he himself would go to the left.

"Theek hai Alekh bhai hum abhi jatey hain",

says Ali and turns to leave.

Alekh's words make him to halt,

"Waise Naina apun ke, tere, Yudi aur Huda ke alawa kisi aur ladke se to baat karti nahi hai. To apun ko nahi lagta ke kisi ladke ke paas iski copy ho sakti hai."

Naina's eyes widen as she realizes where Alekh's mind is leading towards, or rather wandering. She widens her eyes and looks towards Alekh. Alekh winks at her, whilst Ali, ponders at Alekh's words, his head bowed down. Naina standing with Alekh, purses her lips, controlling her fit of laughter. She feels sorry for Ali and thinks of ending this prank. Knowing Naina very well, Alekh widens his eyes, warning her to remain quiet.

"Alekh bhai aap bhi chaliye na?",

asks Ali.

"Apun? Apun udhar ja raha hai na. Alag alag jagah jayenge to kaam jaldi hoga na",

explains Alekh, controlling his amusement.

Naina shakes her head thinking how impossible Alekh is.

With no other option left, Ali leaves for the task.

As he leaves Naina beats Alekh on his shoulder, who is busy looking towards the way Ali went and laughing. Naina's pat drags Alekh's attention. Still laughing he looks towards Naina.

"Kyun kiya tu ne aisa? Janta hai na wo kaisa hai?",

asks Naina.

"Boley to wo aisa hai isliye hi to uske saath kiya",

laughs Alekh.

"Ab tujh mein aur Huda mein kya farak raha Alekh?",

asks Naina, knitting her brows.

Alekh looks towards Naina seriously,

"Apun ko tu Huda ke mafik samjh reli hai?"

"Ki to Huda wali harkat hi na tu ne?",

scolds Naina.

Closing his eyes, taking a deep breath, Alekh opens his eyes and turns to look towards Naina. His eyes after meeting her eyes, rests on her forehead. Taking the index finger of his right hand to her forehead, he traces the line of tension that builds on her forehead. His gesture takes Naina by surprise. She relaxes a little, still confused by his gesture.

"Zindagi mein kabhi kabar masti mazak bhi kar lena chahiye",

Alekh shakes his head, smiling a little.

"Ye tu mujhey samjha raha hai?",

asks Naina, in disbelief, emphasizing on 'tu'!

"Boley to sangati ka asar hai",

Alekh looks towards her through corner of his eyes.

Smiling, controlling her fit of laughter, she says,

"Mujh par bhi!"

Alekh turns to look towards Naina, and they both end up laughing together.

"Waise... waise bechare Ali ki halat dekhne layak hogi",

says Naina, whilst laughing.

"Sirf uski hi nahi wo jin jin se mil raha hai unka chehra bhi dekhne layak hoga",

laughs Alekh.

Relaxing, Alekh asks, teasingly,

"Aur bata tera aur Captain ka maunvrat kaisa chal raha hai?"

Naina's face falls on listening to his question. She turns to look towards Alekh, all serious, then turns back to look in front.

"Mujhey koi farak nahi parhta!",

states Naina, sadly.

"Jhoot utna bol jitne par log bharosa kar le. Aur ye mat bhul tu apun se baat kar rahi hai",

warns Alekh, narrowing his eyes.

Naina looks towards Alekh.

"Kya bolun?",

asks Naina, pissed off.

"Waise tujhey baat kya karni hai unse?",

asks Alekh, teasingly.

Naina glares him. Alekh laughs at this.

~*~*~

In his room, Rajveer sits on his sofa, thoroughly tired. Resting his head back, Rajveer thinks about Naina. A frown comes on his face as he fails to understand why Naina is avoiding him. He misses her. This is indeed the first time he is missing her, in spite of being in the academy, he realizes. At first he finds it weird, this sensation.

He remembers the last argument they had on Naveen. He gets restless all over again.

His mind drifts towards the moment when after Abhimanyu's oath taking ceremony, she tried to ignore him. But why? Why did she do that?

Pressing the skin at his forehead in between his brows, he closes his eyes, trying to find the answer.

Yudi walks to Captain Rajveer's room. Knocking the door, he gets in, on getting Captain Rajveer's consent.

"Cadet Yudi, tum yahan?",

asks Captain Rajveer.

"Ahmm... yes Sir. Wo apne kaha tha ke aap mujhey 'Map and Conventional Signs' ki book denge. Sir exams aa rahe hain so I just thought preparation shuru kar dun",

smiles Yudi.

"Oh sure Yudi. Ye to bohot achi baat hai. Wait mujhey dhundhni hogi wo book. You sit, I'll get it to you",

smiles Captain Rajveer.

Getting up he asks him,

"Make yourself comfortable".

"Thank you Sir!",

smiles Yudi.

While Rajveer leaves for the other half of his room in search of the book, Yudi takes his seat on the sofa. Soon he drifts into the memory of a recent encounter with Dr. Shalini on the corridor, as Yudi was coming to Rajveer Sir.

*Flashback*

As Yudi was walking through the corridor, lost in his thoughts, Dr. Shalini, calls him,

"Hey Yudi".

Yudi halts on hearing her voice. Getting out of his daze, he turns to look. Smiling, he greets Dr. Shalini.
But Dr. Shalini notices how he is tensed about something.

"Kya baat hai Yudi? Tum pareshan lag rahe ho!",

asks Dr. Shalini, sympathetically.

Yudi looks towards Dr. Shalini.

"Ma'am ab main apko kya bataun. It's like Pooja ki ek copy kho gayi hai. And all of us are after this copy. Doesn't it sound weird?",

asks Yudi, lowering his voice, his expression is that of hesitation.

Smiling, Dr. Shalini says,

"Iss mein galat kya hai? Ek friend ki madad karna is a nice thing Yudi. I am surprised ki mujhey tumhe ye baat samjhani parh rahi hai!"

"No! No Ma'am you are taking it all wrong",

says Yudi, getting nervous on being misunderstood by Dr. Shalini.

"I mean I am always there to help my friends. But ma'am ek copy ke peeche aise time waste karna sounds ridiculous",

Yudi puts his thoughts into words.

Smiling, understanding him, Dr. Shalini says,

"I understand Yudi. But tum ye socho agar Pooja ki jagah tumhari notebook kho jati to tum kaise react karte? Exams aney ko hain and tumhare sarey notes ussi copy mein ho to?"

"She can always take our copy and scan Ma'am",

suggests Yudi.

Smiling, Dr. Shalini says,

"That's so sweet of you to say that cadet. But kya Pooja ek koshish bhi na karey?"

Yudi goes quiet on hearing her. He does realize that even his things are precious to him how small it might be.

"I guess you are right ma'am!",

says Yudi, pondering into the situation.

His eyes somewhere in front of him on the floor, he smiles as he thinks,

"Apko pata hai Ma'am main apne personal articles ko lekar bohot possessive hun. I mean main ek pen jab tak ki uski ink puri khatam na ho jaye, use karta rehta hun, till it goes draught!",

laughs Yudi, feeling embarrassmed.

Dr. Shalini smiles lovingly.

"I know cadet, that's in you. I can feel it. Tum apne friends ki feelings ki bohot kadar karte ho. You have that sentiment to get attached to anyone, anything. I am sure tum bhi apne har ek article ko lekar bohot possessive hoge",

smiles Dr. Shalini.

"Jab tum inn sub cheezon ko lekar itne possessive ho, to ye to copy hai jahan usne itni mehnat se sub kuch likha. Right?",

asks Dr. Shalini, lovingly.

"Right Ma'am",

blushes Yudi, apologetically.

*Flashback ends*

Smiling, Yudi shakes his head, unable to believe that he has actually started taking the copy seriously since the moment Dr. Shalini explained this to him.

Unconsciously, Yudi picks up the copy and writes a song,

'Kayi baar yunhi dekha hai,
ye jo mann ki seemarekha hai,
Mann tod ne lagta hai.

Anjane pyas ke peechey,
anjane aas ke peechey,
mann daud ne lagta hai'

"Here you go!",

Captain Rajveer's voice drags Yudi out of his moment of bliss. Closing the copy, he quickly places it back on the table. Captain Rajveer, whose eyes were on the book in his hand, doesn't notice that Yudi wrote something in the copy placed there. What he does notice is that he keeps the copy back on the table. Taking it as Yudi was just giving the copy a glance, Captain Rajveer doesn't ponder into the situation much. Handing Yudi over the book he was looking for, Captain Rajveer smiles and asks whilst taking his seat on the sofa,

"Yahi hai na?"

Reading the name, Yudi smiles and thank Captain Rajveer.

"Yes Sir. Thank you so much Sir. Trust me you have helped me a big deal. Ab I am sure main ye papers clear kar paunga",

says Yudi, excited.

"Kya matlab hai tumhara, ke main acha nahi parhata? All you needed was this book?",

asks Captain Rajveer, knitting his brows, acting to be disappointed.

Getting nervous on realizing what a blooper he committed, but he didn't mean it that way, he looks nervously towards Captain Rajveer.

~*~*~

On his way to finding the copy, Ali happens to meet Huda.

"Arey arey Usool kahan bhagey ja raha hai? Pooja ne bulaya hai kya?",

winks Huda.

Halting, getting irritated, Ali says,

"Pooja ji ne nahi, Pooja ji ki notebook ne!"

"Notebook?",

asks Huda, wrinkling his nose, as he finds it weird.

Then suddenly he thinks something.

(Huda's background tune begins)

Embracing Ali by his shoulder, he hesitantly asks,

"Abey usool Pooja se directly nahi bol pa rahi isliye uski notebook ke saath romance farma raha hai?",

although he himself finds it weird and disgusting, the words he uttered, by the scenario in front of him bounds him to think so.

This skips Ali's heartbeat. He turns crimson red, as if caught romancing with Pooja. In his blushed up state, his eyes lowered, Ali asks,

"Ye... ye aap... aap... kaisi baatein kar rahe hain Huda bhai?"

~*~*~

Rajveer bursts into fit of laughter on witnessing a nervous Yudi. Yudi takes a sigh of relief as he realizes that Captain Rajveer was joking.

Turning a bit serious, Captain Rajveer asks Yudi,

"Are you in a hurry?"

"No! Not at all Sir. Did you have some work?",

asks Yudi, smiling.

Rajveer giving it a second thought. Then says,

"Ahmmm... no actually, just aise hi dimag mein kuch chal raha tha to socha baat kar lun kisi se. Tum aye ho to, thought tumse share karun".

This swells Yudi's heart.

"Sure... Sure Sir! Anything!",

smiles Yudi.

"Yudi, Pooja aur Naina ke beech mein sub theek hai na?",

asks Rajveer, hesitantly.

"Yeah... yeah Sir. I guess sub theek hi hai. I haven't heard anything out of the box abhi tak to",

says Yudi, getting serious.

"Why? Kuch hua kya?",

asks Yudi concerned.

Rajveer gets alert,

"Nahi... nahi hoga kya! I mean normally women tend to keep their problems to themselves. Pooja thodi tensed lagi mujhey... just... that's fine, shayad main hi zada soch raha hun",

says Rajveer, trying to avoid looking towards Yudi directly.

"You know Sir, I guess you are right!",

says Yudi.

This drags Rajveer's attention. Rajveer thinks Yudi knows something that Rajveer doesn't know. He looks towards Yudi, expectantly.

"Ye aurtein na dil mein kitni baatein chupa kar rakhti hain, ye to bus unhe hi pata hota hai",

says Yudi, shaking his head.

"And then agar unse kuch puch lo, to unka first question hoga - 'kis haq se pucha tumne?",

he adds further.

His words make Rajveer to sit straight and a smile reaches on his face, as if Yudi has worded Rajveer's feelings.

"Hai na?",

he asks, although excited, but trying to show himself calm in front of Yudi.

Adjusting a little on his seat, Yudi asks,

"You know... you know what Sir, I don't understand konsa pahad tut jayega agar ye humare saath apni problems share kar le to?"

Rajveer smiles, understanding it perfectly that he is pointing towards Dr. Shalini.

"Well I guess you need to give them time and have patience",

suggests Rajveer.

"Yeah but how much time exactly?",

asks Yudi, expectantly, looking towards Rajveer.

Rajveer lowers his eyes, as he realizes that he himself needs to know about it.

Suddenly, an idea strikes him. Looking towards Yudi with his twinkling eyes, he suggests him,

"Ye baat tum khud unse pucho na?"

"Main?",

asks Yudi, shocked.

"Haan to? Be a man Yudi!",

saying that Rajveer pats on his upper arm, encouragingly.

"Main... Main kaise puchun?",

asks Yudi.

"Haq se pucho!",

says Rajveer, his eyes twinkling.

This in return makes Yudi's eyes to twinkle too. He has gained all the confidence he needed.

Getting excited, Yudi says,

"You know what Sir, you are simply the best!"

Giving him a tight hug, taking Rajveer by surprise, Yudi leaves the room, completely ready to ask anything and everything he wants to know, HAQ SE!

~*~*~

Huda and Ali try out every possible place but they fail to discover the copy.

~*~*~

"Mujhey jo kaam hai unse main kisi bhi haal mein pura kar hi lungi anyways",

smiles Naina, sarcastically.

"Theek hai bus ye dhyan mein rakhne ka ke kuch bolegi nahi tu",

warns Alekh.

"Ji! Ab main jaun?",

asks Naina sarcastically.

"Han ja na",

smiles Alekh.

Shaking her head, Naina leaves.

~*~*~

As Naina reaches Rajveer's room, she hears his fits of laughter. She gets confused, as she hears no one else, that means he is alone. And by the way he is laughing, it doesn't seem that he is talking to someone over phone. So what exactly is the reason of his laughter?

Curious to know, Naina pushes the door open without asking for permission. Rajveer's laughter comes to a halt abruptly as his eyes lay on Naina.

(Rajveer-Naina piano tune begins as they stare each other)

Naina resists herself from asking him the reason of his laughter.

Teasing her, Rajveer asks, looking at her intimately,

"Kya baat hai Naina, tumhari himmat; tumhara haq aaj itna barh gaya ke tum bina knock kiye mere room mein aa rahi ho?"

He never ends the eye contact. The intimate eye contact and the frustration of the fact that she can't talk to him, gives adrenaline rush to Naina.

She needs to let him know about the missing copy of Pooja but then Alekh's deal binds her. How can she do that without talking to him? And what is the reason of his laughter?

Rajveer keeps staring her. Her expression tells him that she is pissed off about something. What is this silence for?

"Tum kya mujhey dekhne ayi thi?"

His question takes Naina by surprise. How can she lie that she wasn't craving to look at him?

Naina's gaze turns intimate.

Her silence frustrates Rajveer all the more. He slowly walks towards her, trying to read her.

"Kya hua Naina any problem?",

he asks, worried.

She curses Alekh at this moment. Because of him, she cannot even tell him that there is nothing to worry, he doesn't have to panic.

Naina's eyes suddenly falls on the notebook he has been holding in his hand. Naina sighs in relief and glares him, so he is the culprit. It was with him this whole time?

Naina slowly walks towards him. Rajveer is being patient throughout. By her expressions, he could make out that she is trying to mentally put all the puzzles on their places. But if she is in problem, why not is she sharing it with him?

"Kya baat hai Naina?",

asks Rajveer, his frustration increasing as his anxiety level increases on not getting the answer from her.

Naina points towards the notebook in his hand.

"Ye?",

asks Rajveer.

Naina nods her head in affirmation.

At this moment Rajveer finds her just so adorable.

"Pehle mere sawaal ka jawab do",

says Rajveer.

Naina mentally rolls her eyes, the whole situation they are going through is because of the reason that she is not permitted to talk to him and here he is asking her to answer his question. Naina shakes her head out of frustration.

Taking it as a 'no' Rajveer prompts,

"Kya? Tum mujhey 'na' keh rahi ho?"

At first she gets nervous, he is taking her gestures wrongly. But the look of disappointment on his face is something Naina witnesses for the first time on her account. So why not keep it intact for some more time?

Naina arches a brow, smiling challengingly. At this Rajveer knits his brows feeling disappointed. Naina moves forth and tries to snatch the copy from his hand but Rajveer moves his hand at the right moment. The victorious smirk on his face gives Naina the adrenaline rush.

Somehow Rajveer realizes that she is in some kind of 'maunvrat'.

"Kya hai ye Naina? Tum kabse vrat and all mein bharosa karne lagi? I mean all that karvachauth vrat and all!",

says Rajveer, mocking at her.

Naina narrows her eyes on him. This makes Rajveer to laugh out loud. Getting up he walks towards her whilst asking,

"So what do you do in this vrat by the way?"

Naina understands that he is just teasing her. Naina's heartbeat picks up pace, as he walks towards her, looking intently into her eyes.

Then suddenly he acts to be remembering,

"Oh! Tum kaise bataogi mujhey, tumhara to 'Maunvrat' hai!",

teases Rajveer, looking straight into her eyes.

His tease affects her, she lowers her eyes unable to maintain the stare.

Walking away, he says,

"Strange tum tabse mujhey avoid kar rahi ho; mujhse baat nahi kar rahi. Par ye copy lene ke liye aa gayi mere paas. Kuch to khas baat hogi na iss copy mein?"

Naina stares him, standing behind, shaking her head, blushing at the thought that how much he thinks!

"Hmmm?",

prompts Rajveer.

"Let's see!",

says Rajveer and begins to open the notebook.

Naina gets nervous and quickly reaches him and puts a hand on the copy, refraining him from opening it.

(Rajveer-Naina tune begins as they stare each other)

"Naina agar tum meri protegee ho; to main bhi tumhara mentor hun!",

teases Rajveer.

Naina knits her brows, unable to understand what does he mean?

Smirking, understanding that she is confused, Rajveer clears the doubt by saying,

"Tum agar chup reh sakti ho; to tumse kuch bulwana mujhey bhi aata hai!",

warns Rajveer.

Naina arches a brow, taking it as a challenge.

"By the way tum log kya class mein antakshari khelte ho?",

asks Rajveer, disappointed.

"Come on Naina I understand ke Captain Abhimanyu music teacher hain but aise time waste karna without his knowledge, this sounds childish",

scolds Rajveer.

Then suddenly he asks,

"Kya tum log meri class mein bhi yahi karte ho?"

Naina knits her brows, looking at him in utter disbelief. How could he even think so? The flaring of her nostrils warns Rajveer about how annoyed she is on hearing him. But hold on, why is she being annoyed? If someone has the right to be annoyed then it has to be him, because of her so called 'Maunvrat'.

"Naina pehle to tum mujhse baat karo! It's so damn frustrating!",

scolds Rajveer.

Naina forwards her right ear, arching a brow, as a gesture of him to repeat it again as if she couldn't hear him.

"What?",

asks Rajveer, annoyed.

Naina takes a deep breath, crossing her arms over her chest, looking at him with full determination.

She looks around in his room as if searching something.

"What? Kya dhundh rahi ho?",

asks Rajveer, puzzled.

Naina smiles as she discovers what she was searching for. Walking to it she sits on her feet and starts ploughing the manure of the plant kept in his room.

Rajveer finds it weird and also the fact that she is messing up with his pot frustrates him.

"Naina... Naina ye tum kya kar rahi ho...?",

he asks, exasperated, walking to her.

Naina continues with ploughing the pot with her hands.

"For god's sake stop it Naina!",

he tries to stop her, while Naina successfully brings out some manure off the pot.

"Naina wo gamla... oh god what the hell are you doing?",

says Rajveer, his anger rising with each passing moment. He notices how in her process of ploughing it she has scattered the manure all around the pot.

"Tum kuch bol kyun nahi rahi?",

the messed up state of his room irritates him.

"Tum mera gussa mere gamlon par kyun utar rahi ho?",

asks Rajveer, unable to understand why is she doing so and at last ends up thinking that may be she is angry on him and taking revenge this way!

"What the hell Naina?",

shouts Rajveer, as Naina throws the mud she ploughed, on him and hence messing up his shirt.

Glaring her he scolds her,

"Tum achi tarah janti ho ke mujhey ye gandagi nahi pasand Naina".

Naina starts taking deep breaths out of anxiety. When will he get to the point?

"I cannot believe this. Aj tak kisi ki himmat nahi hui hai mujh par iss tarah mitti fekne ki siwaye tumhare!",

scolds Rajveer.

Naina purses her lips to control her fit of laughter.

Rajveer remains engrossed in checking out his dress trying to think what should he do now to clean himself up.

Frustrated, he suddenly looks towards her, gesturing with two fingers in front of her,

"Dusri baar! Dusri baar tumhari wajah se ye hua hai!",

he reminds her.

She gets excited, he is getting to the point.

"Tumhe pata hai uss din jab tum mujh par hans rahi thi to...",

he begins again, raising his voice.

Naina stares him, all anxious to know how did he feel?

Flashes of those moments come in front of his eyes.
