Part 1 - Where it all started
Grey clouds gathered in the leaden sky. After a couple of seconds, the rain started pattering. As the cold wind blew, Riddhima shivered. She hugged herself, clearly, she should have worn warmer clothes when she knew what the weather would be like. She shook her head and proceeded towards the old oak door.
As she entered inside the library, a smell of damp laundry hit her nostrils making her cringe. Her dad's library existed since a very long time. She remembered running across all the aisles when she was 3 and her father kept on chasing her.
Those were the good old times. She felt like crying on remembering her father but now he was gone, to a better place, away from this cruel world. Today would be the last time she saw the library, after it would completely be demolished. After that, she would be going for her higher studies.
As Riddhima reached a shelf which used to contain a plethora of books on Greek Mythology. Her dad was fond of reading and discovering about mythology of other countries, it was a hobby for him. Riddhima inherited some of her father's passion and she would occasionally read a few mythology books in her free time right after school.
However, some days back, when she was packing the books, she found one which intrigued her. She had never found that book and it was not even on the record list, she wondered how could it be here...maybe her dad had borrowed it and forgot to to return, yeah, it was a possibility. The title of the book was,
a Latin calligraphic font, "M&S". She never got an occasion to see what the book contained which had a mysterious aura. When Riddhima saw the book on the counter, she felt a shiver down her spine. The tainted gold letters on the brownish-red cover of the book, added an antique feel to it, moreover, a key was needed to open it as it had a lock.
Riddhima heard the sound of the bell and a fine young man entered. He looked sort of familiar. Riddhima went behind the counter and politely asked how could she help him.
"I'm Armaan," the man said in a husky voice that caused Riddhima's heart to flutter.
"And, I'm here to take back my property which is right here," he snapped while pointing to the book. Riddhima gulped, how could she ensure that the book was infact for this rude guy, okay, this handsome rude guy. But, after looking into his eyes, she handed the book over to him.
Armaan scrutinized every single inch of it and when he reached the empty key lock, he asked her," here is the key?"
Riddhima confusedly answered," I don't know, I've never seen the key."
Riddhima was taken aback when Armaan burst out," You must be kidding! You very well know where the key is, just return it to me, or the consequences will be severe!"
"I am telling you, I don't know and if are going to yell at me under my property, then just get lost!" she said, with her tone rising slightly.
"Fine! But not without you," he yelled, making Riddhima wondered what he meant but before she understood, she felt herself inhaling something that caused her to lose her consciousness...
