Looking forward to read next part...I can already sense Arnav getting MAD reading the letter..love Khushi's guts.
Chapter 2 : Down the memory lane
Anjali Singh Raizada Jha couldn't help but smile at the sight. Shyam and Arnav were in deep discussion in low voice before her chhote started laughing at something said by Shyam. There was no doubt that they were making fun of her. Probably today's topic was her driving skills. She had no right to call it as skill as a matter of fact, She chuckled to herself while carrying ice cream bowls for all sitting in living room.
Anjali and Shyam had come for their weekly visit to Shantivan and stayed for dinner as they didn't know how to say No to their ManoMami. Akash had gone for a meeting with client in Mumbai. So it was just Arnav, Mama, Mami and Nani at home. After serving all, Anjali took seat besides Mami. Anjali knew that Arnav is not open to all, but strangely with Shyam, all Arnav's emotional guards would be down and he was the same innocent boy reminding her of their early childhood years.
Anjali cherished moments like these when Arnav is laughing whole heartedly, even though it is at the expense of her teasing. Arnav always pampered her and took care of her wishes in spite of being younger than her. His family's happiness was his first priority. Anjali was concerned about him as he would never share his worries or sorrows with anyone.
Mami squeezed Anjali's hand slightly and warmth spread across Anjali's heart yet again. Mami just knew her. They shared a relation of mother and daughter than aunt and niece. Mami's gesture assured her that she shouldn't be worried for Arnav and Anjali felt relieved knowing that Mami will handle everything well as she had always.
The topic of discussion had been changed to family picnic by then and Arnav, Anjali, Shyam, Nani, Manohar were giving their inputs enthusiastically. Manorama Singh Raizada's eyes were shining with glint of happiness and pride watching her children. She had come long way. The path wasn't easy.
Manorama belonged to a rich family. Her father would have got many good proposals from Rich families for her, but she had fallen heads over heals with Manohar, her classmate in college. She had liked his calm demeanor compared to her chirpy & fierce attitude. They were poles apart, still complimented each other. It had taken a lot of efforts to convince bride and groom's family for this relationship. Back then, love marriages were not that acceptable or frequent.
Her mother had been worried about how her daughter who had grew up in lavish house will manage in 1BHK house. Manohar's father who was working in army passed away when he was in school. He completed his college with scholarship and little bit of savings done by his father. Manohar was sole support for his mother and his sister. Sometimes, Manohar felt guilty of not able to fulfill his wife's wishes as he had to take care of entire house's responsibility with his reasonable salary. But Manorama never complained. They found a good match for her sister in law and arranged for her marriage as best as they could.
Everything was going smooth until she realized that she wasn't able to conceive due to some complications, however her family understood her and supported her in her emotional disturbed state. She adored her sister in law's kids Anjali and Arnav. After going through lot of medical treatments, she was blessed with son Akash post 7 years of their marriage. She fondly called 3 siblings - Arnav, Anjali and Akash as "troublemaker trio" due to their pranks and tricks when they used to play together in Shantivan.
However, it seemed like fate had something different planned for them. Anjali and Arnav lost their parents in an unfortunate car accident when Arnav was 8 years old and Anjali was 10. Arnav and Anjali's life changed overnight. Arnav's greedy uncle snatched all the property making those children homeless when they had already lost so much.
Devyani Raizada was shattered after losing her daughter and watching haunted look in her grandchildrens' eyes. Manorama and Manohar had to put aside their grief to take care of the situation. Manorama still couldn't forget those incidents when Arnav & Anjali had nightmares and Manorama Mami used to hold both the kids assuring them their safety, saying words to calm them, so that they would slowly fall into sleep again. They missed their parents terribly. Her heart broke with their helplessness. Mami's room is besides Arnav's in Shantivan. Even today, she reaches just in time when he wakes up sweating with tear-strained face after a nightmare to hold him and assure him.
Manorama could never forget the proud look in her mother in law's eyes when she had put forward the proposal of officially adopting Arnav and Anjali. Manorama and Manohar asked Arnav and Anjali about their opinion on adoption and both had agreed. That's when Arnav and Anjali Malik became Arnav Singh Raizada and Anjali Singh Raizada.
Arnav and Anjali never gave any reason to Mama Mami to regret their decision of making them part of family. Anjali did post graduation in psychology and started working as a counsellor and also worked for an NGO as she grew up watching her Mami working selflessly to give it back to community. Arnav completed and started business with small garment shop initially. Arnav and Akash with their team led it to AR Corporation with tremendous efforts. Mama Mami had given all their savings and gold to Arnav when he was struggling for the initial investment. Arnav & Akash made huge success and they shifted to grand mansion cum house Shantivan.
Nani's question broke the chain of thoughts & memories and brought Manorama back to present. She absentmindedly agreed to whichever plan was finalized by them.
** next day **
"Aman, why did you call me in AR today, I would have discussed this with you over call and sent all documents in email", Shyam asked exasperatedly as Aman had called him for trivial task. Shyam was a lawyer and he used to handle legal matters for AR Corporation along with handling his other client cases.
"I am sorry for troubling you, Sir. But After reading this letter, I thought it would be better if you are around when ASR will read this.", Aman replied meekly while handing over letter to Shyam.
"Khushi Gupta, is she another ASR fangirl? I don't think it's good idea to show it to Arnav if that's the case.", Shyam said while opening the envelope.
"No Sir, it's a different letter. Instead cheesy sugarcoated lines, you will find straightforward & bit mocking tone.", Aman replied.
"She is accusing AR's PR team's credibility. I am not sure how will Arnav react. What do you expect me to do, Aman?", Shyam asked sharply.
"Her way might be wrong, but her idea is great, we should give her that much credit. All I am asking is we shall give her one chance at least for conducting her interview. We can then take a call to really hire her or not depending upon all of your feedback.", Aman said firmly.
"Let me see what I can do.", Shyam said with a small smile appearing on his lips considering the challenge ahead.
PS: I am sorry for delaying Arhi discussion, but I thought giving flashback was necessary for setting up the story theme. I will update the next chapter in 2 days.
