Little Women is an enduring favorite! And I do see a similarity:) And how could Jo reject Laurie?!! He was so adorable( Young Christian Bale in the movie version He comes second only to Gilbert Blythe in my pre teen list of fictional character crushes..:)Turned toward the window, Anita cried silently against the small, blue airline pillow, casting regular surreptious looks at her neighbor to make sure he was still asleep. Luckily, her neighbor had exceedingly sharp reflexes, always managing to close his sleepy gray eyes before she turned.
How did I miss the sleepy gray eyes?? 😲 If it was me, I'd be the one sneaking looks AT him not the other way around. 😆
Now I'm really excited for Anita! Bechari has been through so much in such a short amount of time. It's enough to make anyone lose hope.
You know, her story sort of but not completely, reminds me of Laurie from Little Women. You know he fell in love/was wild for Jo (lots of passion/heat of the moment kind of stuff) but then she said no. He felt as if she had done a big no-no (the right words aren't coming to mind, so substituting my 6 year olds) Although there really was never a 2 way relationship- it was mostly from Laurie. Anyways, when his love story with Amy started forming- he vowed that this time it should go slow and take its time. That time and place took care of everything and that he didn't need words, also by that point Amy knew his and he her answer.
Which is WHAT I'm hoping will happen with Anita. I hope this new love and the mystery gray eyed man make her forget about her past (with Aman) and that it is at a slow and steady pace. So that she can enjoy all that being in love has to offer.
Forgive my horrible recollection of Little Women, it's been a while since I've read it.
