Chapter 27

Laying on his bed, Naina scans his room through her eyes, that her eyes fall on the computer kept in front of the bed, just a distance away from bed. "Sir aapse ek baat puchun?" asks Naina as Rajveer searches for the first aid box. "Pucho" says Rajveer, as he sits in front of her on the bed with the first aid box. "Aap..." "Naina..." they both speak together. Naina halts and waits for him to speak. Hesitantly he continues, "Naina mujhey..." Sensing that he is hesitating to speak, she encourages him, "kya baat hai Sir?" Rajveer stares into her eyes, clearing his throat, with an authoritative voice he says "Cadet Singh I'll have to roll the leg of your trousers to apply the medicine", saying this he waits for her response. She lowers her eyes, then looks back to him and whispers "to kariye". (Rajveer-Naina tune starts in the background).

As he gets the permission, he releases the breath he had been holding throughout this time. Feeling shy, Rajveer closes his eyes, smiling out of shyness, he shakes his head. Opening his eyes and looking at her, he starts searching the materials he'll need, in the first aid box. "Aap itne dedicated hain apne kaam ko lekar, apko itne medals, certificates miley hain, par net pe apke zada pictures, ya articles ya koi information available nahi hain! Aisa kyun?" asks Naina, after having almost a mental war. Smiling, he replies "Cadet Singh lagta hai apne mere barey mein kafi chaanbeen kar rakhi hai? Well frankly I like it, ki apne itna pain lia!" "I am sorry Sir, if I have offended you in any way".

As Naina ends up saying this line, Rajveer had already done with pouring the antiseptic liquid on the cotton. "Cadet Singh apko pata hai apki problem kya hai?" asks Rajveer. Naina stares him, implying 'kya?' Then Rajveer continues, "ki aap sochtin bohot hain", saying this he smiles, looking at her. "You are free to ask me anything Cadet Singh", assures Rajveer. "Such?" she whispers, looking into his eyes. Sighing, Rajveer says "hmmm... tumhare iss 'such?' bolne se ye to pata lag gaya hai ki tum mujhse kuch puchna chahti ho. Shayad bohot kuch?"

"Aap khud itne assumptions karte hain aur fir mujhse kehte hain ki main sochti bohot hun! Agar apko assume karne ka haq hai to mujhse sochne ka bhi pura haq hai" saying this angrily, she gets up to leave, but the hurting of her bruised knee reminds her that she has no right to fight with him right now, if she is expecting any kind of help from him. But Rajveer catches her at the right moment before she falls. "Sambhal kar Cadet Singh"! Cursing under her breath that yet again he is here to help her, where as on the contrary she hates to ask for help, she sighs. Then suddenly she remembers and mumbles "Jab help chahiye thi tab to help nahi kia!"

Listening her words clearly, he smiles and says "Naina agar main tumhari har jagah madad karunga to tum seekhogi kaise?" "You are right Sir! Shayad main hi bachpana dikha rahi hun, ye soch kar ki apko meri madad karni chahiye thi" says Naina, as a matter of fact. Shaking his head, with a pinch of smile on his face, his hands still holding her and the cotton, he says "hmm... ab aap baithengi ya main Dr. Shalini ko bulaun?" saying this, he lays her on the bed. "Bulayiye!" dares Naina. Getting angry on knowing the fact that she would rather like Dr. Shalini being here, he puts the cotton on a tray, getting up, he turns to leave. "Kya aap sub se aise hi choti-choti baaton pe gussa ho jaate hain Sir?" asks Naina from behind. Smiling, he turns and says "sub se to nahi, par aap se!", they keep staring at each other (Rajveer-Naina tune starts in the background). "Main Dr. Shalini ko bhejta hun" smiling he turns to leave.
