TRUE

We cannot love 100% of what we do for 10 or 20 years of the same job. Unless we choose to change jobs every 3 or so years, there is a definite monotony that creeps in. The prospect of "growth" or "higher pay" may be a good incentive to stay back even though we can do our jobs in our sleep by that point

Working for large organizations is very good and very bad at the same time. Very good because the risk is spread between 50,000 or 100k people, the benefits are great, the vacation is best in the industry, the pay is competitive etc... but try getting a PROMOTION or a LATERAL MOVE
They are so bloated and bureaucratic😔

A small company, u will be recognized sooner, u will have the excitement of doing a variety of roles from Mktg to HR to Finance if u show enough interest, but the pay probably sucks, but they will entrust you with amazing responsibilities if u can display the skill set

For someone that "Worshiped" her career like II this is truly sad

i am not even sure how I am able to get the feel of every single word you have written here
Has hardly been an year since I'm working but all these situations have already been brought to light
Looks like the world is moving much faster today

U can actually count me in the ramadasu context i mentioned earlier
Worshiping the job and not being rewarded inturn
Falling into the well of self doubt
Unable to find a ripe to pull myself put out
Talking to the ppl outside the well
Asking them tips to save myself not realising they are in the well adjacent to mine figuring out their own way to come out

That's how life has been and will be for the longest time I guess

It's very tough to think I will stop loving my career someday

Like II it would be a surprise to me if u Dint wake up one morning praying for a challenging day at work or with an enthusiasm to do something new at work

Or if I say I want to quit my job and stay at home

But someday that speed breaker is going to make me press the breaks

The question is
When it happens to II will she trun the vehicle off or accelerate again!

Envee,

Ofcourse its easier said than done. U will hear all sorts of advice and platitudes "grass is always greener on the other side" "Do u really want to give up the 10 minute commute?" "So u think that job will be perfect in ever which way?"

You should just GO WITH YOUR GUT
We live in the most volatile employment market known to mankind. There are no guarantees. There are no "entitlements" for employees.
We can fool ourselves but there are none.

Begin looking, it will be a good 6 months to a year before they will offer you a job hat pays 5-7% over your existing one

Only raman bhalla of YHM fame goes from CEO to Director to CEO and what not. And doesnt go to work one goddamn day, is too busy sobbing on his Mom's lap... or sucking up to ex wife

(sorry this was the last show I watched so will quote it)

Golden parachutes are for CEOs that outsource a million jobs to third world countries

You and I should be lucky if we land a 5% raise

I am on the look out for a year now
So I know what it all means

And then to top it off, you see all around... people that did "complicated" things like Save-Close or a Save- Print-Close on a file get promoted in less than 6 months out of a job they were at for less than 6 months... and their existing team is 100 people the new team is 500...

You wonder what the heck you are doing wrong

Getting A PROMOTION in 10 years is impossible for most

Love your job
but don't love your company,
because you may not know
when your company
stops loving you.
- Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam

ALWAYS LEAVE OFFICE ON TIME
Work is a never-ending process. It can never be completed.
Interest of a client is important, so is your family.

If you fall in your life, neither your boss nor client will offer you a helping hand; your family and friends will.
Life is not only about work, office and client. There is more to life.

You need time to socialize, entertain, relax and exercise. Don't let life be meaningless.

A person who stays late at the office is not a hardworking person. Instead he/she is a fool who does not know how to manage work within the stipulated time. He/She is inefficient and incompetent in his work.

You did not study hard and struggle in life to become a machine.

If your boss forces you to work late, he/she may be ineffective and have a meaningless life too; so forward this to him/her.

Leaving Office on Time:
Efficient
Good Social Life
Quality Family Life

Leaving Office Late:
Inefficient & Incompetent
No Social Life
Less Family Life

A woman that ran Hewlett Packard to the toilet and flushed it, later attempted to run for California Governorship 4 years ago? is now running for the highest office in the US.

We are being asked to vote for her because she "knows how the average American struggles to make ends meet"

P.S. She walked away with a 68 million dollar golden parachute when the HP Board fired her

and they do get the promotions because they SHOW how hard it was to save a file or carry the print to the bosses room nisha
Key characteristics of those who get promoted and the most important thing we lack in us even after ghutne gisofying at work everyday without lifting our head up is -
"Sir this drawing was so complicated I had to print it in 7 parts and 7 sheets
Had to walk all the way to the plotter/printer and collect the sheets and ask namratha to give the command for print every drawing and then put the sheets on her table asking her to take it upstairs.. And all she did was make the drawing
Kindly tell her ifs my project and let me visit the site"

This particular trait is called ask for it and brag about it

If u don't ask for the project its considered u haven't worked on it and don't want to continue working
And if u don't brag about your efforts u havent put an effort

Sorry for the personal rant to put across the point

But count me as a emotionally insecure "professional" not being given the favourite brownies from Mr.B šŸ˜†

It was really needed to be told and understood

Except that like a dog's twisted rail many of us endup in the
"work is wosrhip, boss is the God and workplace is a temple" trap

God, by god I mean the real god and not the boss save us

Enough rant for today Nam šŸ˜†šŸ˜†

Kekta Kapoor's vamps dont hold all the patents for work place meanness (Kekta and workplace is like a oxymoron. Kekta's leading ladies are in at a "workplace" only when they are lecturing a rapist they enticed a day ago)

So anyway, the things you talk about are considered "legitimate" and appropriate" in trying to climb the corporate ladder. Nobody blinks, its all in a day's work

Its in fact considered a "failing" if you dont know how to "project" or "network". "Knowing how to play the game" is often more important than solid education and skill set

"Be a hater" "I am doing what I want to land that VP job by the time I am 30" "BURN HATER BURN" type response is routine
