** Chapter Nine **
Time... Immeasurable epochs of moments... The time you would make a stream of thoughts and watch them flowing in the twinkling of an eye. The time which sings and contemplates in you, dwelling within the bounds of the first moment which scattered the dreams into throes. The time you would treasure euphoric moments along with unforgettable forlorn. Nevertheless, it took me so much retrospection to realize that the time itself heals the wounds made by its own. The time, which taught me that a little toil of Love is ample to glue back the splinters of our tomorrow during the time I spent without you.
The time it took to search you, beneath the surface of truth to get to know the reasons for your sudden departure made me aware of the facts that my heart alone couldn't hold. I discerned that I should have tried harder to be the person I can be after I lost you to the distance. I should have realized that it will take time for me to see through my emotions. I agree that I only saw you mysterious, sweet and smart, but not the heart which laid deep inside you and I didn't expect you to open up to me because I have hidden myself from you. But trust me, the moment you left me, I felt unfathomable nuances which my heart unknowingly espied. I bet you, I would have been a better person than you first saw me, than you last knew me, if you had stayed for one more minute.
In a trice, I fathomed that every single speck of time is so precious in life to let it slip away with idiocy. But this time, I am not going to let my emotions nor any distance dictum our destiny in two shakes.
"And I promise you that I'll let today embrace the bygone with remembrance and the future with longing".
His current state of mind stipulates the categorized pattern of the translucent drops of fog sprinkled by the dawn on the glass window from where he was looking at the landing flight on to the runway at a distance.
While the jet was getting ready for its departure to the Big City, his mind and heart were preparing to face the woman along with heartbreaking truths. He was preparing himself to not stumble this time in the avalanche of ruffled emotions.
"Lavanya..."
Although he heard Aman's high pitched voice breaking his train of thoughts, he decided to not let it interrupt him this time.
"Will you listen to me..."
Although he raised his voice to make his girlfriend understand, why he has to leave to another country by breaking his promise of being with her that night, Aman didn't miss to notice his friend, who didn't move a blink hearing his yell unlike him. But he rested that thought for a while to finish the task.
"Lavanya, I will be back by the weekend".
...
"I promise you, sweetheart. You know I am already in pissed off mood and you are making it worse with your tantrums".
...
"Shhh.. he is right next me. better don't make him hear your curses otherwise, I bet, he will make you see your worst nightmares".
...
"I will definitely call you once I reach there".
...
"Love you too, Bye".
Aman instantly pivoted towards Arnav as soon as he clicked the end button. Albeit he wanted to stay back initially, he decided to accompany him unable to leave him alone after witnessing his breakdown the previous night. He knew that something is seriously bothering his friend and how could he let him fight it all alone.
"I know it's not a right time to ask you this, but seeing you in this state, I am not able to stop myself". Aman looked at his friend to see whether he pushed any wrong button at a wrong time. When he didn't see any unpleasant change in his expression, he continued, "What made you crumple down"?
Since the moment he determined to fight back with his emotions, Arnav is trying hard to not think about what Payal revealed, albeit he found how difficult it is in a trice. Notwithstanding with the pain he is going through, he swallowed the lump formed in his throat when Aman's question reminded him of every torment he felt and he replied.
"Nightmare of shattered piquancy".
Although his friend did not express what he was exactly going through, but he understood Arnav's deepest agony as he mentioned, completely shattered. Taking a deep breath, he cupped his shoulder and said, "Arnav... How well you bring back all the shattered pieces together will determine your strength. Don't let the uncertainty screw you up".
Arnav scuffled with his mind for a minute and scoffed at his defeat once again, before whispering out, rather more to himself, "My mind, instead of longing to see her, it's reminding the reminisces of the hurt I had given and the pain I had received".
Very soon he heard Aman saying, "Definitely there should be a strong reason for her to keep herself away from you. Just one more day Arnav, you will find your tranquility along with the answers you are seeking".
Smiling indifferently, he leaned back along with the reclining seat and said by closing his eyes, "I.. Wish".
His voice abruptly changed craggy and his thoughts caught the train of thoughts to travel the distance of time between the present and the past.

"Instead of feeling angry, why am I feeling relieved. While I am supposed to be fighting hard to bury my anger, why I am struggling to forget her tear filled eyes. Why dammit"?
This was the thousandth time he asked that question to himself since he broke apart in the presence of a woman whom he never wanted to behold his frailty, two weeks back.
Since that day, he hasn't seen her properly. His mornings became colorless without her teasing songs. His meals became tasteless without hearing her annoying savoring sounds. His warm evening tea breaks became freezing cold without her steaming nuances. Altogether, his days became lifeless without her. The unsettling feelings inside him started to worry him and the intensity of the urge to see her started to unnerve him and that realization piqued him more.
As the days passed by with the void of her presence, unfathomable emotions started to build up inside him making him more agitated. Since he saw the tears flowing down her eyes, inscrutable feelings started to urge him to take her into his embrace once and wipe away those inked precious drops.
Unconsciously, he stood up on his feet to quench his longing thirst to see her and stopped at once thinking whether he was doing the right thing. When he tried to retrieve his step back, the memory of her fragile form with tears in her eyes flashed in front of his eyes and made him rooted to the spot. His fingers slowly clenched into a fist and his jaw tightened. Momentarily a familiar pain started in the core of his heart as it's happening the same way with him every day since she eschewing him.
Notwithstanding with the abrupt changes happening with him, he decided to just delete that image from his mind and concentrate on the things to be done. And for that to happen, he should avoid her for the rest of her stay.
Next minute he mentally calculated the remaining days of her stay and sighed with relief when he found out that more than a month left.
"What the heck am I thinking? Why? Why am I feeling restless? Why dammit?"
He punched the wall next to him to shut his arcane thoughts, completely oblivious to the fact that his mind already stopped listening to him since his last encounter with her.
Few hours afterward, instead of feeling better, his restlessness became unbearable. His heart ached to see her again and again for the reasons unknown. All of a sudden he felt a strange feeling of something terrible was going to happen in his life.
He shoved his ego aside and sprinted towards the stairs and halted in his steps when he heard multiple familiar voices coming from the downstairs. Recognizing the sources of those voices which he haven't heard since two weeks, he rooted to his spot and grappled, whether to move forward or back. After a minute, he zoomed down to encounter the people who ignored him all these days, leaving him to his own grief.
"Isn't it what you wanted". His conscience reminded him.
"Friends never stop themselves". Even before his mind agrees to him, it replied.
"When did you treated them like that". His heart questioned him.
"I never ill-treated them". He whispered to himself.
"What do you call the words you screamed at her". His heart reminded him.
"It's just my rage, not me". He reasoned.
"But don't forget that the words from your mouth were the reason for her tears", his conscience touched him at the right place.
"No ... It's not true", he tried to defend himself.
"Truth doesn't change if you do not agree". his mind warned him.
At a trice, he imagined her standing in front of him, crying and saying, "Yes, you are the reason for my tears because You are a monster". And she disappeared.
He closed his eyes when his heart winced with the same pain and instantly his rage overpowered him to kill the pain in his heart as it got trained to do since many years.
"I don't care". He screamed on top of his voice.
Listening to his loud voice, two pairs of legs came running to him. But his eyes searched for another pair unknowingly, ignoring the questions shooting at him.
"Arnav .. what happened?, Arnav are you alright?"
"Arnav talk to me man".
But Aakash's words failed to reach Arnav's ears while his eyes were busy searching for the woman he desperately wants to see.
"How dare she to ignores me".
When he was dreading to see her eyes devoid of tears, to erase the memory which kept haunting him for days, her abstaining riling him up more. The fact that She was not giving him the chance of forgetting the painful blunder he committed with his uncontrollable rage made him lose his control once again.
Unable to withstand her cognizance, He hit his palm on the glass cabinet door breaking it into several pieces with few of them getting stuck into his palm deeply.
Aakash got shocked to react in the instance and stood like a rock while Payal moved towards him to help. But enraged Arnav took few steps back defying her concern.
"Leave me alone ... Now.. All... Of..you. I can take care of myself".
His hand was bleeding, but his heart was in more pain.
While Payal and Aakash took a step back looking at the roaring lion, Khushi ran towards him and took his bleeding hand into her cold ones.
"Are you out of your mind. Stop behaving crazy...".
She pulled his palm more close to her while he tried to pull it out of her grip and started to remove the tiny pieces of glass which were pierced into his skin.
"Aakash Bhai, why are you just standing here, please get me the first aid box pronto".
A while later, while Khushi was tending his wound on his hand carefully and the invisible wound in his heart unknowingly, his eyes didn't blink at least once looking into her eyes.
"lucky the glass pieces didn't cut through your nerves". He heard her saying these words looking keenly at his hand for more cuts.
When he realized that he was giving up his anger for her care, he pulled his hand back making her stumble for the sudden jerk.
"What are you doing Arnav, let me..."
He cut her off and said, " I am fine. Just leave...". She cut him off instantly.
"Ok, but please let me take you to the emergency, we should make sure that there are no glass pieces stuck inside".
"But Khushi, we will get late". Aakash immediately reminded her.
"Bhai, I cannot leave him like this". Soon tears formed at the rim of her eyes.
As soon as she uttered those words, her ignorance towards him for all these days reminded him of his anger at once.
"What an actress you are Khushi, but let me remind you, I won't fall for your cheap tricks".
As soon as he uttered those painful words, her eyes were closed tight letting all the tears flow down. He could clearly see how much she got hurt, but he had no choice. He could never let himself get affected nor he can trust any woman again.
"But those tears, how powerful they are. Those colorless drops are capable of changing the colors of my heart".
He swallowed the lump formed in the center of his throat for that thought and gathered all his courage to say the words which killed his heart more than hers.
"Get out of my house right now. I cannot tolerate you even for a minute".
Unable to take the arrogance of his friend anymore, Aakash opened his mouth finally to reveal the truth he was holding since the day he last saw him.
"You don't have to say that Arnav. Khushi decided to leave and asked me to prepone her ticket two weeks back. We came here today to see her off. You will be all alone from tomorrow as you wanted".
